I usually cut the race 3/4 of the way through and then use a chisel in the cut and hit the chisel with a hammer and splits the race in half without damaging the shaft. Comes right off
If you want to do it right, get a bearing splitter otc 1121-1130 or otc 1183 (Bearing Splitter Combo Set) that clamps/forces itself behind the bearing to allow you to pull it off. You will need to connect a t bar push puller to the splitter (5/7/10/17/30/50 tons with different length legs, up to 24 inches, that screw into the bearing splitter), instead of a two or three jaw puller. This setup allows you to apply heat while applying pressure at the same time. There are manual and hydraulic kits. Kits are usually cheaper lol. Get ready for sticker shock (otc 1680 17-1/2 and 30 Ton Hydraulic Farm Implement Set), there’s a 30 or 50 ton kit, or otc 1682 (17-1/2, 30, and 50 Ton Master Puller Set). How much is your time worth and the aggravation of not having the right tool. Or you can jerry rig/make your own homemade one if it will hold up to the pressure applied/tonnage.
Chet Tell Your Mom I tried 3 Of the Seasonings the Onion,Bacon and Garlic and the Garlic one is My Favorite! So Thanks Amy I ordered and now I’m Allergic to Eggs and Dairy so Chet I Understand at 61 What you Experience!
Die grinder with a small cut off wheel, cut about 3/4 of the way through the race and then hit it with a chisel and they break apart or open up enough to get the bearing off
You should look into buying a Fendt ideal 10T combine plus they have a nice three year gold star warranty where they will do the oil change and fix the machine so you guys wouldn’t have to do any maintenance to it basically or get a case AF11 but I think the fendt would be a really good idea because of the warranty
I’m glad it’s you guys doing it . We have amazing mechanic that work on all equipment. But love how you and Brody get stuck fixing that combine to get it ready to take back. Good job you too
Thanks for another great video Chet and Brody and crew. That bearing you are trying to get off. I am not real sure about this but I believe there is a bearing splitter kit available for that. Like I say, check on that as I am not for sure on that for sure. Might save you some time and frustration. Lots of equipment to remove from your old lease combine before it goes back to the dealership. Kibble I am assuming. Lots of technology stuff to remove yet too. Amazing what you have added to the combine. Been a good unit for you Chet. About it I guess. Toby really like that food you were showing him at the Beginning of the video. Thanks for everything Larsons. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
Hey Chet, on some of those back separator grates there should be bolts that you can take off and be able to take them out in half’s, they may be a bit different as in up in AB Canada, but I know most of them normally have about 3 bolts in about the middle of the separator bars and if you take the bolts out they should be able to come out in 2
You can get a split piece for that it works for different size shafts the inner part is tapered it is meant for that I think McMaster -Carr has them don't get a cheap one they are soft they are called a bearing separator and a face grip puller just suggesting it
Have you tried making your own tool with some cheap wrecker bars with the tips rounded off and bolts welded to them through some thick bar as your own specialist puller
Pamida🤣🤣🤝 shopko🤣🤣👌🏻 yall are great i remember going to both with gram in albert lea after we went to streater to see gramp for lunch around 1990 ish 🇺🇸🇺🇸
For that bearing race, If you take an air die grinder with a cutoff wheel on it, and work it perpendicular to the bearing so rather than cutting across it, and instead the wheel in the same direction as the bearing channel. And work back and forth into it you’ll thin it enough it turns blue, smack it with a chisel and it’ll split and come off easy
I love when my beagles eat. Lmao. Only issue is if one is done before the other, they try to steal the others. Lmao. These are my 3rd pair. Like to have two maniacs running around. 😂 had a lab as my first dog. Will have beagles until I die. So fun.
Yeah it's called a bearing puller that goes behind the bearing is flat and you make your bars to the length and you pull it with that easy peasy and very cheap and it's not a three jaw or for jaw puller
Hope mama Jean is doing well. I shouldn't have watched this in bed . It's 11:30 pm. I just saw your breakfast. Now I have to go down and cook some eggs.
Put a bead of weld on each side of the race let it cool and hit it with a chisel. Makes them brittle and it will break right of . Works everytime! 0:15
as a mechanic and trying to start my own farm this snap on puller kit (CJ2500) kit has bought me way less frustration and saved me time in the long run when it comes to pulling bearings
John Deere makes great air drills, I just find it weird that they build them in the shape of S series combines and all the grain they throw out the back.
Anther great video starring Chet and Brody, and a great tutorial as well. But really, LF's, I'm good on dog food. Yes, we know, sponsors pay the bills, but let's have Farm sponsors. Dog food and fast meals... Nah.
Hey Larson Farms - any idea how many hours were spent returning the combine to "orginal" condition AND how many hours were on the engine and thrashing hours?
I would love to see y’all try an AF 10 but not sure if you even have case dealers in your area. Support and service are more important than what color it is. Ivers run 9250s and the samples look cleaner in corn. Love y’all’s channel. Keep up the good work and be safe.❤
@@zacksievert7780my thoughts exactly, concaves are like a 15 minute swap. Don’t have to worry about any slow down kit or whatever. Crazy they gotta do all these mods just to do as good of a job as case.
We really enjoy checking in and watching your videos. Could you put a "skip into" button on the front of the video. It gets a little labored to watch the intro to the same cast of characters over and over.
Get out the die grinder and cut the bearing race off. Or at least relieve it so it will pull of easier. If you nick the shaft a little its alright. Clean it up and put the new bearing back on. And dont buy the bearing from deere at 10 times the regular price, go to napa.
Why continue to go with green combines when you have to spend a fortune to buy kits to make them work right??? Why not buy another brand that has those features already on it?
I hope being you keep using Chris as a comment generator, and it works. That he gets at least $5 a comment when his names is mentioned in the comments. I know he’ll support this idea.
Pamida?! There’s a way back attack!!! Shopko a bit too. RIP to both. Thanks for the tour of the inside workings of the combine. I think that’s pretty important to include that kind of stuff.
Use code LARSON for 50% off your first order of Sundays: www.sundaysfordogs.com/CODE
For three dogs, I need a big bag a week... so $146/week.
I usually cut the race 3/4 of the way through and then use a chisel in the cut and hit the chisel with a hammer and splits the race in half without damaging the shaft. Comes right off
Grab your welder, weld a beed all the way around the race, let cool and it will come off with your hand! thanks for the video!

Oh thanks !
I often wondered what was inside of a combine that magically removed kernels from the cob.
Learned something today!
The Kitchen looks Very Nice !

Bearing separator is what you need and you put a puller on that. 👌👍😎
Bearing separator with a "T" bar puller & right length bolts for T bar to bearing seperator.
Awww lil Mr Toby n good to meet Melvin also
Fun to watch you and Brody horsing around while working. You two really have a way of making hard jobs look fun.
Die grinder with a small cut off wheel, cut about 3/4 of the way through the race and then hit it with a chisel and they break apart or open up enough to get the bearing off
@jeffsimonar7161 This is exactly what I was going to say, works every time. In 35 years as a mechanic, I've done this hundreds of times.
Me too, heavy equipment mechanic, and welder

Always pumped to see Larson Farm videos
One of my favorites UA-cam channels !

I would like to see Case IH do a demo for you guys. Just to see the comparison.
Have you tried making your own tool with some cheap wrecker bars with the tips rounded off and bolts welded to them through some thick bar as your own specialist puller

To pull that bearing off you need a bearing spreader/splitter to help you remove that bearing at 22 minutes in on video.
I love when my beagles eat. Lmao. Only issue is if one is done before the other, they try to steal the others. Lmao. These are my 3rd pair. Like to have two maniacs running around. 😂 had a lab as my first dog. Will have beagles until I die. So fun.
Camelina oil can be used as feedstock for making bio-fuels, your cover crop has the ability to be a cash crop.
Weld on the bearing race, then it expands
For the bearing.
A large hydraulic bearing puller kit is all you need for that bearing. You use the split plate puller, not the jaw arms.
Yeah it's called a bearing puller that goes behind the bearing is flat and you make your bars to the length and you pull it with that easy peasy and very cheap and it's not a three jaw or for jaw puller
I'm stuck and I can't get out, the famous words from Chet Larson...
Hope mama Jean is doing well. I shouldn't have watched this in bed . It's 11:30 pm. I just saw your breakfast. Now I have to go down and cook some eggs.
Where's Larry? Great to see Toby, Melvin & Jeanne! Beautiful kitchen!
To get a race off you can weld on it and it’ll expand and come off by hand
Need to get some Christmas in your Combines. Get a Case. That way, you can pit them against each other.
Finally a piece of your real life who's Melvin great to see the wife ya know your life is more than combining thaks
JeanMarie's dog.
Great comments
You really should try a red one. So much easier to change grates and concaves
It is called a clamshell puller
Texas twister for the air hammer
Put a bead of weld on each side of the race let it cool and hit it with a chisel. Makes them brittle and it will break right of . Works everytime! 0:15
Yay Larson Farmz, watching you guys struggle, it just warms my heart guys!
❤❤❤❤❤
as a mechanic and trying to start my own farm this snap on puller kit (CJ2500) kit has bought me way less frustration and saved me time in the long run when it comes to pulling bearings
Best farming videos!!
Posi Lock Puller 3 Jaw Manual Puller, 14in Reach, 40 Ton Capacity acme tool site
Your editing is so smooth, loved it!
Toby for president 😎🇺🇸
Changing concaves on the s790 looks way more enjoyable than on our case 2388 and we have to do it twice a year 😩
I usually sharpen my air hammer chisel and go straight into the inner-race until it cracksDont forget safety glasses..LOL
HI Larson farms from Indiana
Would a bearing separator help on getting that bearing started off that shaft?
Nice BA fan in the shop!
Amazing video guys. Thank you
X9 would be a fine addition to the Larson fleet
Waving a hand from texas
Brodie Bossin the boss, nice!
The vibe in here is perfect!
Big Swede needs to be on the scene more
The Big Swede is Busy doing All the work. You know Big Swede things of course.
Working hard to keep away that Beagle Bulge😊
You need a new red one to match your other red ones
A little time with Chris would be great!
Pamida was fire as a youngin'
Get slide hammer great bearing puller😊 Allan for Australia 🇦🇺
Keep up the great videos
John Deere used to make a deep puller for those
John Deere makes great air drills, I just find it weird that they build them in the shape of S series combines and all the grain they throw out the back.
I’m a diesel mechanic I would’ve just use a cutting torch angle the tip away to cut it off you dont nic the shaft that way
Awesome video Chet. 🚜🚜🚜

Just asking why did you pull those pins and take that plate out I never done that on our case ih combine and I changed them a few times this year
do you have to put the tires back on before you return it?
Good stuff guys!
The Swede has no hands!
Split bearing press
Watching you guys work on a Deere combine makes me love the case even more!
lol remember when welkers had to replace a rotar in their CASE combines😂 chiiiilllllll they all break
@ I’m talking about watching them change concaves. Case is far easier and don’t need to add all the mods to them like you do to Deeres
@@zacksievert7780my thoughts exactly, concaves are like a 15 minute swap. Don’t have to worry about any slow down kit or whatever. Crazy they gotta do all these mods just to do as good of a job as case.
Oh case equipment never breaks down? Surrrrre. Lol
@ where is anybody saying case doesn’t break down?
What happened to Next time on Larson Farms????
We have the puller you need for that shaft 😅
Take a oxy torch heat that inner race cherry red hot the douse with water, or mig weld a hot bead around the race....
We really enjoy checking in and watching your videos. Could you put a "skip into" button on the front of the video. It gets a little labored to watch the intro to the same cast of characters over and over.
If it's that huge of a deal to you, just tap or click 3 times on the right side of the video and it'll skip forward 30 seconds.
Surprised nobody has invented a gin pole on the side of the machine for lifting the concave and helping to install
Die grinder or a dremmal tool with a cut off wheel.
Consider doing more fall tillage content?
All that heavy lifting and no Big Swede???😂
great video
THE TOBSTER !!! :) :) :) :)
All I got to say is Toby should be in the intro.
You buy the brand that has local dealers and maintenance. My brother looked at a Fendt, but the dealer is 3 states and 6 hours away...so "no go".
They get excellent service, they use their guidance and field view systems. Changing brands would cause a whole lot of unintended consequences.
Dont go with Black combines, they are not reliable. Tractors are great, combines not.
Do the red ones come out easier?
love it
We’re is the big Swede going
I hope being you keep using Chris as a comment generator, and it works. That he gets at least $5 a comment when his names is mentioned in the comments. I know he’ll support this idea.

Brody: the glass is half full
Chet: the glass is half empty
🤷♂️
There's no Pac-Man left on those concave bars. You may as well give them away they look a little flat
So I would just remove your own and tell the dealership you heard a noise and remove the concaves to help them out .
