I have watched this film over and over again and love it more and more every time. For those confused on what happened: Alicia (the mother) took her kids back from an abusive relationship (hence the bruises on her arm). In a past life, she was Rose, and her boyfriend was the man running the hotel. In the past life, she was pregnant and embarrassed about it and scared. My guess is that she was too young to have a child and she thought that her parents would find out somehow and be mad. So, she shot herself and started a new life as a new person. However, she left three wishes for whoever drank the water when she said "Maybe next time everyone will get what they want" or something like that. Bringing it back to the present time in the movie, the man running the hotel recognized the mother as Rose (her past self) and agreed to rent the room out to her with the hopes she would recognize something and wish her old life back before she shot herself because he still loved her so much. The first wish was used when the little brother didn't want his older brother to hurt him, which came true. The second wish was used when Alicia drank the water and wanted to start over in her life. But, it didn't completely come true. The third wish was when she and her husband were in the bathroom, he kept saying he wanted to get the boys and go home, making the mother believe that he wanted a happy family again. So, she forced him to drink the water. However, he wished he had a perfect life without her in it, and it came true. The boys were well behaved, he wasn't drinking. The boys didn't say they knew the "lady" which supports that claim. They all left, and the man working the hotel said "goodbye forever Rose" because he realized that all the wishes were used but none of them brought his love back. When Alicia goes to change her mind and make another wish, the water is clean, signaling that all the wishes were used up and that everything done was permanent. Hope that helped! EDIT: Hi all! I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since I posted this comment, and I was blown away to come back to my account and see all of the responses and likes it got. It means so much to me to have all this support and it brightens my day! I’ve gone through and read every comment and I just wanted to clarify that yes, I did mean Alice, so my bad haha and also, this is just my view on the film! You are totally allowed to have your own view and I would love to read them and see your perspective! I just wanted to help those having a hard time understand because I myself struggled a little bit. I hope you all have such an amazing week :)
for people who read comments and are curious to know what this film means… in my opinion :) The woman wanted to escape from her marriage, maybe wanted to get rid of the boys since she didn't show much love to them as we see in the story… yet she still loved her husband and probably wanted the life they had before the kids. By drinking the water from that bathroom where the girl died, the little boy wanted his older brother to stop bulling him. The mother wanted her life without her boys, maybe she truly didn't want kids but never realized it. Her marriage didn't work like she thought it would and im guessing she kept blaming it on the love the father had for his sons. And the husband probably didn't love his wife anymore because of the way the relationship came out and he just wanted to be happy and well with his two sons… I think that hotel room was haunted or something by the girl Rose, she took her life because she didn't want to have a baby, and the boyfriend at the bathroom door is the same guy that takes care of the hotel… he really wanted to marry her and have a family with her. Her last words were "Maybe next time we can all get what we wanted" By drinking the water from that bathroom, the girl who had died gave them all what they wanted and it set her spirit, ghost free… Thats why the old man from the hotel says "Good bye Rose" at the end as he sees the father and the two boys leave. I think the moral of this story is not only to be careful of what you wish for but also getting what you want can have its price to pay, not everyone wants the same things in life… This short film is truly excellent! Thank you Papercrane Productions LLC for sharing :)
She was Rose reincarnated. The mother was having flashbacks of her past life. When Rose put the gun to her chest the mother looked down at her chest and there was a birthmark or scar at the place where Rose held the gun. The mother took the kids from her husband not because she loved them but to punish the husband. Because of his obsession with his sons and his drinking their marriage fell apart. Same with Rose. Because she was pregnant she felt they couldn't be together. The mother drank from the sink and wished her kids gone. Her husband wished for a perfect relationship between him and his boys without their mother. Notice the brothers were getting along after the fathers wish. In the beginning she was listening to the radio. She changed the station and the announcer said Instant Karma by John Lennon So the curse begins "Maybe next time we all get what we want" Love this! Really enjoyed watching it.
And I think the water is actually the wish of the old guy's. Not Rose's. Because u see how he really understood and in control everything? And at the end he said, goodbye Rose. What goes around comes around right?
Dark Angel I totally agree!! I would LOVE to see a full length movie. This was an absolutely great movie. Right from the get go. The production team, did a fantastic job, on such a great short!! Like you, I just wish it were a movie though!
@@kirtywright1974 Humans are never satisfied and always think, that they need something else, and don't take the time to appreciate, what they have. Bad humans !
@@thegoodthebad8862 That doesn't make any sense. Biologically speaking, Human, is a type of Animal; specifically Mammal. What we classify as an "Animal" is typically based off what they eat, and how their anatomy functions; not by if they fight with their siblings. Most Animals, including humans, have fought with siblings since the dawn of their/our existence. Most people who have siblings has fought with them whether it be Physical, Verbal, or Both.
FBI no one is arguing what makes an animal, you’re arguing with yourself there. All i said was it doesnt make it acceptable like oh you beat your sibling? Cool Well animals do it too so its just natural. You can either evolve or continue being an animal
@@thegoodthebad8862 That fact that you keep using "Animal" as a uncomplimentary remark is why I argued what makes an Animal a Animal. Also, "beating" a sibling and getting into a fight with one is different (depending on your definition of beating) Getting into a fight, verbal or physical is natural. Now beating your siblings for no reason other than to just be a dick is a different story, but that's not the point. Sibling fights usually start off as a disagreement that turns into verbal/physical fighting. I grew up with 2 brothers, One older and one younger. I fought with them all the time, physical and verbal, but at the same time we always had each other's backs and were very close. Just because siblings fight, doesn't mean it'll turn into this long lived hatred that you will have for them in the future. Actually, a lot of mental health experts would argue that it could make you closer with your siblings.
Moral of the story: Don't drink tap water. Edit: omg hi guys i didn’t even remember making this comment 4 years ago lol. i hope you all are doing well ❤️ thanks for the likes!
the narrative, the cinematography, the post production... everything is amazing! this is by far one of the BEST shorts I have seen. I'm blown away. Good job.
I don't think the water was a wishing well, (I.E whatever you want in the moment to come true) but rather water that made the drinker's innermost desire come true. The little brother's desire was that he wanted his brother to not verbally or physically harm him. The mom's innermost desire was that she wanted her children gone and her husband back. But the only way to make her husband happy, (and so he could be in love with her again), was to have the boys back. But she couldn't make that work herself because that wasn't her innermost desire, which was why she made him drink the water instead of herself. But it backfired on her obviously, as his innermost desire had nothing to do with her. I think the storyline came full circle. Rose didn't want kids, but her boyfriend did. At the end, Alice (manifestation of Rose) lost her kids completely, (which was Rose's innermost desire) and the husband (manifestation of the boyfriend) got them (which was the boyfriend's innermost desire). Rose stated, "Maybe next time everyone can get what they want.". And that's what happened. That's why Rose's spirit finally left. Also, the name Alice. "Drink?" Like, "Drink me" from Alice in Wonderland? Funny stuff. Amazing short movie by the way. From the superb acting to the intriguing storyline, everything was phenomenal.
"Maybe next time we will all get what we wanted" in the end everyone got what they wanted deep inside mom didn't want the kids, dad wanted to be sober with the kids. And once everyone got what they wanted/deserved the water turned normal
The water turned back to normal at the end because thinks we're meant to be like that with out her. By the way this film is the best I've have ever seen.
When Rose shot herself, her spirit went into the water and it became a wishing well for people to get what they wanted and at the end, since the water was clean, Rose's spirit must have been released and she was set free which is why the old man said "goodbye Rose"
Not really. The little brother was happy that his brother had no arms or mouth because he wanted to remain safe, the mother was happy to not see her children, and the father was happy to leave his wife behind because he loved the boys more than her. The wife always loved the husband and didn't take it for granted, and she lost him, but she still knew how valuable it was.
That's wasn't a flashback. If you listen to the conversation, he says 'Rose' and not Alice. THEN at the end, the old man said 'Goodbye Rose'. She was haunting that room, but now she is gone.
Hannah Johnson The older brother seems too mean to the younger one to be Sam and Dean. Usually Dean is trying to protect Sam (especially when they were younger). Although, I may be wrong considering I'm only on Season 6.
“She’s just here to make the bed” IM IN TEARS OMG NO NOOO EDIT: to everyone saying she deserved it, I don’t think anyone deserves to lose their family. Even if she didn’t seem to love them, she did. She tried to protect them from the water and make sure everything was normal again, but make it even worse. I just have a strong empathy point, I guess.
Here's my take on the video. I'm the beginning, the mother is tired from driving all night to get to a hotel. Where the man at the desk gets a look at her and recognizes her from some sort of news or something as her children's kidnappers. He also sees his former ex, Rose, in her. She was running from her relationship with her husband. I believe it's not him that's abusive, despite the marks on her arm, those were self defense marks from her husband or kids. Her husband likely grabbed her arm tightly as she tried to leave. She was abusive to them, which was the cause of them being so mentally scarred and the big brother abusing his younger sibling and smoking cigarettes. She was running because her husband threatened to take the kids, whom she'd abused, from her. Her husband was also an alcoholic likely. Her flashes were not her own, but memories from Rose, who killed herself when things didn't turn out the way she wanted; her desires weren't fulfilled. The water brought the characters' greatest desires into reality. Hence the big brother losing his arms so he couldn't abuse his brother physically, and mouth so he couldn't abuse his brother verbally. When the mother found out what the water did, she drank it, hoping that things could go back to how they were. She wanted her husband to love her more than the kids. She wished she'd never had them because it ruined her marriage. She fed Rick the water, thinking that because he was wishing in that moment for things to be good between them would cause it to happen. But the water only fulfilled their deepest desires, and he wished things between them were over, and that his boys had never met their mother. I'm the end, you'll realize that the old man at the desk, was Rose's former boyfriend, and he saw Rose in that woman and knew what would happen. He gave her the room, knowing she would drink the water, which would in the end, make things right. The water went back to normal again after it had done what it needed to do and restored balance and things turned out how they should. They turned out like that because fate made its way and the woman was selfish as the man was selfless. The moral is be careful what you wish for, because if you're selfish, things will end up how they should and you'll lose in the end.
Tank you :D wait but how did the big brother tell the younger brother the secret of thier mom kidnapping them while they were getting a soda when they basically haden't drank the water yet i mean there is some enclosed perspective right now its like if they fast foward while they were in the present right there and then at the soda machine very interesting also when the mom asked the younger sibling if he meant for that to happen to her brother like if the younger kid was watching the tv couldnt he have certainly put the hands back on i mean and its pretty wierd if you think about it i also tought that since what happened to rhe bigger brother would happen to them all well not all just two people since he had two figurines wouldnt those figurines impact on the rest of them like if you snap the toy in half one of them would have thier body snapped in half? So many questions also... they couldve solved this all if she didnt drink and if she kept driving!! Also in the beging She had a daughter and a son not two suns also didnt the death of rose and her baby make the water like that? 😳😳😳😳😧😦😦😦😦😦☹☹🙁🙁🙁🙁
Brilliant work. since no one really understands, im gonna try and explain it a bit. So.. the mother of the boys run away with them, she probably wanted to get rid of them.. but the father loved the boys more than his wife, who's crazy and wanted to get them back. And as you could tell, the water caused things they wished for to be true, as the younger brother wished not to be hurt by his brother, and the mom not to see them. hope it helped a bit for some of you.
Did she wish for the boys to disappear or to turn into the dolls? When she was holding the dolls it seemed like she was staring at what they'd become. I get the point that she didn't love them and was jealous of them, feeling her husband loved them more than her.
More like.... A young couple fell in passionate love. It was wild and great. They got married. and had two children. The wife realized she was unhappy with being a mom... she wanted passion again. so she sought it out with other men. The husband began to drink and grow angry about his wife's unhappiness and need. He became abusive. He wanted to control how she felt. But she just didn't want to be a mom. One night after a really bad fight..she fled. she ended up at a hotel with only one strange room vacant. The hotel manager had loved a girl and wanted her to marry him. But she was too ashamed of being pregnant before marriage and wanted to die. Putting a curse on the bathroom. The elder son had developed anger issues by watching his father. he abused his little brother as a result. When the brother drank the cursed water... the older brother could no longer harm him with words or his hands. The wife finally got her true wish of not having children. When her husband arrived... she thought he'd wanted the same thing. but it turns out... he wanted him and his sons to be happy (and I think he wanted another mother for them). The father left... happy. Since all sides of the door got what they wanted... the curse was broken. And Rose was free.
Very awesome but I'm hella confused I assume she is rose but how did the hotel guy know ? Was that his way of punishing her? I have so many questions 😅 Does the water work off desire?
@@fan2fics389 No - I think the motel owner was the young boyfriend who tried to convince his pregnant girlfriend to stick it out and make things work. Alice looked a lot like Rose and said she wished she didn't have kids, so he saw her demise as vengeance against the girlfriend who didn't want the baby and took away his chance to be a father ("don't take this away from me"). The water was cursed/tainted when Rose killed herself, saying "maybe next time we can all get what we wanted." I'm pretty sure, anyway.
1:19 Look I don't (Recognizing the eyes that Alice had in her previous life as rose) 3:47 Well you seem to have your hands full (Trying to do pep talks so that she also recognize him) 8:01 Alice! I am Grey (Still no recognition of previous life love) 8:13 Alice - You'd be very glad you wouldn't have any(Talking about kids) 8:17 Grey - Please don't say that (Still giving signs to make her remember the Rose and how badly he wanted a life with her and the unborn) 11:17 Rose - May be next time we can all get what we wanted(Making the place enchanted, Still she didn't recognize it was her who took her life at that place while Grey was banging the door and pleading) 19:42 Grey - Goodbye Rose (Finally karma played and now neither she has kids nor the love that she wanted in her present life, exactly what Grey experienced and had gone through)
Great film on dysfunctional family and breaking the cycle. Some people shouldn't be parents. Thanks it really gets the point across for people (children) who have been there.
The hotel owner was her boyfriend in her past life ppl. Thats y he said "good bye forever rose" something along those lines. And she was like "your lucky you never had kids" and he was like o_O uh huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh
This was such an amazing short film, however I do feel it was a bit difficult for some people to understand so here is a brief summary so that those who had a more difficult time understanding it can still enjoy and appreciate this incredible work of art. The story starts from a mom driving her two young boys down what appears to be a never ending road. They have a few close calls but make it safely in the end. I imagine this road is a representation of her life. Then they reach a hotel inn where the mom pleas for a room. There you see more of the family dynamic. The two boys constantly argue where the mother either ignores them or she bursts out in anger. The younger brother is very innocent and represents a child holding on to his youth despite his surroundings. His older brother represents just the opposite, a child grown up to soon and stripped of all his innocence. After some pleasing, they get an old room with a creepy message written in the mirror warning against drinking
The water. Later you see the older brother leave and take his moms pack of cigarettes to have a quick smoke. It's not long before he is caught, his mother warns him of the dangers of smoking, and he in return warns her the dangers of second hand smoke. She ignores this comment and takes his ciggerette and blows the smoke into his face, showing her disrespect she has for her children. Then she sends her son inside where she stays out and has a smoke. This shows her hypocrisy and gives a bit of insight to the person she may be and hints at many underlying problems which she must face. When the older brother goes inside, he automatically starts a fight with his younger brother and forces him to drink the haunted water. The younger one refused and fights but is unsuccessful under te right grasp of his bother. After swallowing a few handfuls, he clenches his head in pain. When he looks up, his brothers hands and mouth has disappeared leaving him helpless. When the mother finally returns
She is shocked to see her older son and locks her self and the younger bother in the bathroom. There they have flashbacks of a young girl who commits suicide besides her boyfriends pleas. This greatly effects the mother, but the young boy is untouched by this scene. After figuring out the mysterious water has the power to grant there innermost desires, she proceeds to take a sip. Having the same symptoms of her younger son, she awakens and her children have disappeared. She searches for a few short minutes but it is quite apparent this is what she wished for
1. I totally thought this was gonna be an anti-alcohol abuse film and was very shocked at what it actually was. 2. This reminded me of the TV show Supernatural (which I absolutely adore) because of the plotline, but also because of the cinematics in general. And I 100% mean that as a compliment, this film is awesome!!

+P.P. AND fellow commenters! PLS READ! K, barring that one could write an entire decertation/Thesis on this great film- People on here seem to be confused as to what was the meaning of story... etc...Here is my take on this story guys!* The Ol' man was the young man who was once just a GUEST in that motel w/young pregnant Rose. He wanted Rose & the child she was pregnant with. How he became the OWNER, or seemingly at least permant attendee/manager of the motel? Hmm, in short, his awareness of the POWER of the "wishing well water" in that room could be why... Not so important, just a quick observation. Again (Thesis material so moving on) *To me, this was, MAINLY, about "Be careful what you wish for..." Let me break it down. I don't go back and edit. Let me know what you think? :::^The old man was reluctant to let anyone check-in to that room, and told Alice, that the water was bad. He didn't want to give her the room until he "noticed" she had kids. **Perhaps because Alice looked like Rose...and when he checked on her, Alice told the old man that he was lucky to not have children. He replied, "Don't say that." Sharing his truth and his warning...- And Rose's last words were "Maybe next time (life?) we will all get what we want." 1. Alice took kids away from Rick her husband, because she loved him, and he was obviously abusive & an alcoholic. She loved her children, I believe, yet for that time period, she was desperate to gain back the love of her husband and took away the boys, for safety. ***Because she asked about the LOCKS. And, tried to protect the oldest son "Clint" from hurting/HITTING the yougest, right there at the front desk. Moving on...2. When young boy was being bullied by his big brother about washing his hands "cause Dad said so" - He forced the kid to not only wash hands but to DRINK some of it. Hmmm...(That's a big one, moving on...)* At that time the young boy was angry and "wanted" his brother to stop yelling (no mouth) and stop hitting him (no hands) And it worked. His WISH came true. The wish of a young innocent boy... KEEP that in mind. 3. Alice freaked out, as we did (lol) when she saw what happened to Clint, THEN asked what happened, AND asked, "Did you really WANT that to happen to your brother?" The boy said "Yes." * SO! Alice KNEW the POWER of the water. And then she drank it, clearly with desire only focused on getting her husband back... And no kids, fresh start... And, she got both (for a short time) As her sons disappeared into non-existence, then Rick showed up. (You could tell she was scared of Rick, as she was reluctant to let him in. At first...)Yet, she did, and when Rick went in bathroom to search for the boys, it all came together, for us viewers, as to her real desire- To gain Rick's "desire and love back." She clicked as to the opportunity at hand... then seduced Rick, promising to get the boys, and pleading for her husband to remember their vows... Rick responded. Then (big mistake) Alice forced him to drink the water. 4. NOW! When she did that, she THOUGHT his "desire" would be to love her again, as he responded to the passionate kissing, and of the love & couple they once were... * Then, we were CLEARLY shown, that his desire was to have his boys, and not her. AT THE SAME TIME, Alice realized she really loved the boys AND Rick, and showed that, when the boys showed up & Rick looked "anew"...5. Ricks desire, must have included to be set free of his (alcohol abuse deep down) As he looked fresh, clean, and sober- and somehow Rick KNEW what he'd done. Because the boys showed up, and when he "noticed" that they didn't know their mother, he quickly came up with "She's here to 'make the bed'- (I thought that was geniuous writing- because the saying "Sleep in the bed you've made" ... 6. In the end, no matter how "innocent" or malice, the desire in the fleeting moment, when each character, had their "turn" to use that water... They ALL got their desire. - The old man was able to be set free from the torment of losing Rose, and his child, thus said goodbye to Rose. Karma or whatever you want to call it was neutralized. (Another thesis) 7. In the end, Alice lost everything. Everyone she loved. Her family that she know hax the chance to really realize that she cherished. Rick And her boys. (And, no turning back, as the water was clear. No longer tainted; lost that certain source of power.* Her "mistake" was to give "POWER" of that water to Rick, by forcing HER desire, thinking it would be Rick's desire too... 8. SO much going on in this film. And, as a writer, photographer, story-teller, this is best can offer on this. Just watched it once. So, again that's just my "take" on it. The basics. And from the hip... Hope it helped someone:) I may watch it again. And promise not to write another long-comment lol.~ Wishing everyone well. (Great wordplay on that. Unintended) ! And hey a couple more things:LOTS of messages in this film- here are a very short few, in my opinion:****Be mindful of your "wishes/desires"... Respect and KNOW, that you can't affect/force anothers free-will desires to match your own, no matter how benevolent! AND, think I will be brushing my teeth in the kitchen for awhile! ~ Now, on to a comedy, ey'?
This "film" represents that Alice didn't want her kids because it ruined her marriage with Rick, Rick loved the kids more than her and I guess you could say she wanted her kids to go away, when the old man says "please don't say that", the whole moral begins. :)
No, she said your lucky you dont have kids.. And he said dont say that because rose killed her self while she was pregnant.. You dont understand until you look into it.
yxsminx diewxld Same lol. I already don't like ppl spontaneously losing their hands, but when they lose their mouth too?! The main things that are way too freaky for me are unnaturally long/shaped limbs and definitely missing, long (e.g. almost ear to ear), or very wide opening mouths.
Found this comment to distract me of the film because I'm very bad at watching horror movies aaaand I'm alone what makes it even worse OMG please help me haha
------ *INTERPRETATION OF THE MOVIE IN DETAIL (don't read before watching!):* ----- I was wondering, why everybody only got one wish, but the father got like 4?? 1) he becomes a decent person 2) his boys become nice children 3) they don't remember their mother 4) he made the water curse disappear?? Then I rewatched again two times, I came to the conclusion he wished for an ALTERNATE REALITY. Since he loved exactly those two children he made his wish very carefully, not like "if I had never knewn her", but instead being a single father the two boys all along. That puts the woman in a very different light and it all made sense why Rose and her got compared to each other through the vision scene: ---> not only the obvious fact that they boths didn't wanted children, but how they RUINED the lives of EVERYONE through their actions. If Rick had never known Alice- the children would never have been born or other children would have been born with some other woman. But Rick loves Billy and Clint, so that is no option. If Alice would have left right after she gave birth to those two kids and Rick raised them by himself, 1) Rick wouldn't have been so miserable that he became an alcoholic. 2) Those kids would have been better taken care of, thus don't show any psychological inballanced misbehaviour. Coming to the question: did Rick not love Alice at all? No. He DID love Alice. He DID, but does it no more. It's all like he says: His LOVE for her MADE HIM CRAZY. Crazy = losing himself for her ---> fucked up alcoholic So in my opinion Rose must have helped Rick to decide. Because a few seconds ago he was still unsure about his love towards Alice. Only by giving up his unhealthy love realtionship to her he could save himself and his children. Maybe Rose told him something and he struggled to accept it that's why he screamed "stop!" but then gave in and made the right decision. Through making everything "right" this time, Rose atoned for her sins and could finally find peace and the curse vanished. This movie is NOT about "be careful what you wish for", but *"take RESPONSIBILITY for what you DO."* Because once the wishing curse is vanished there is no way to return for a regretful person like Alice. *This short movie was SO WELL DONE!! Every moment and every text part was inevitable, everything made so much sense!* Please leave a like or a comment, if you think my analysis made sense as well and support the crew by sharing :)
Thank you for the thoughtful response. We made this movie for exactly people like you, people who want to ask questions and dig out subtext and ideas and symbolism to the writing and storytelling. I loved reading this.
@Nicki Millennium I mean she wished for her kids to be gone though and was happy and was happy when it came true, why take them with you if you only wanted to get away from abuse and don't care about them in the slightest? Just to get back at her Husband is not a good enough reason so she is at least just as bad.
@@nickimillennium what does that have to do with the reply? I think the person was pointing out that the older brother was bullying the younger brother pretty bad and basically saying that she wouldn’t trust them alone together because the older brother would seriously hurt the younger brother.
It's so sad that a lot of older siblings like to harass and torment their younger siblings especially ones who don't know how to stand up for themselves and rely on their mom and dad still it was a great story and I think it should be a movie😁😁
The mom played herself. She made her husband drink the water so the husband can wish to have the boys back but turns out that he wanted his boys only and not her in his life..
This is one of the best shorts I´ve ever seen !!! It all just fits, it makes sense and it leaves good messages : You don`t appreciate the things you love until you loose them, sometimes you just don`t get a second chance, be careful what you wish for and you need to think before you act. This film is absolutely amazing! PS: The old man was the guy in the flashback that didn´t want the girl (Rose) to kill her self. Right?
The motel owner was her husband in the past life ... That's the reason why he allowed her to stay in ... After all the scenario In the end he says goodbye rose ...
I think one of the main ideas of this short film is to be careful what you wish for because you may wish for it one way, but it may affect everything else
I thought this was a great short film. I had no trouble understanding what was happening, so I don't understand why the person commenting below feels she has to give everything away... Some people scan down through the comments to get a sense if a short is good or bad. I'd hate to have that comment spoil this wonderful film for others, it was really very good.
Wow. I kinda hope you turn this into a full length movie or an anthology type series. Based on a set of limitations. Maybe • the characters before, after, past lives... • room #13 theme • room #13 at that specific motel • one person's last wish and it's aftermath. • or even this same root room 13 with Rose's story taken into different genres romance, comedy, comic book, film noir. Etc. Well just playing with it in my head is fun. Thanks so very much! ♡
this is my first time I watch a short films and you know what? THIS IS FUCKING BETTER THAN HOLLYWOOD SHITTY FILMS ! congratulations to this production !!!! :)
Those poor boys. 😟 What mom would want their children to be gone? She is a crazy lady and I feel so bad for the kids. I guess she gets karma for ‘wishing her children were gone.
Very well done. Great story line and moral to the story. Good audio, good acting all around, nice venue. Good pace, not too slow, not too fast. Dialog was well written, seemed pretty natural. This is a good example of a film based on a good story, makes a great point, has emotional impact and doesn't use any fancy cinematography, no CGI, no fancy crap, just drives home the emotional impact.
Chesney Hill hopefully I can explain, the mother took the kids away from the father (Rick) to get rid of them, she felt that Rick only loved the kids and not her. I'm guessing she wanted to get rid of them, but Rick found them because he wants the kids back. When the mother found the tap she realized she can make anything she wishes for true by drinking the water. When she I guess force fed Rick she wanted to see if Rick wanted her back. But he didn't and the mother lost everything, her sons and her husband. I'm guessing this shows to not be to selfish or something. Well hopefully I made some a sense and that wasn't all gibberish
Alice just regretted when she found out that her husband loves her and wants to return home with them, buh the harm has already been caused and she's just out of the picture. And all the wishes have been used. sad though
I recently started making short films. I tend to vent through film making whenever I need to. I suffer from severe social anxiety and depression. i turn my emotions into art; it's the only thing that tends to help me understand myself. I appreciate every view. Lot's of more content to come!!
+Eli McNeal That is exactly what crossed my mind! The older one even looks like the kid who played Dean in the episode when he's in that group home on the farm.
I think that when they drank the water it gave them their truest wishes. The younger brother wanted the other brother to stop. The mom wanted her husband back. The dad wanted his kids.
I personally believe this short film was a very creative take on psychological horror with a very powerful underlying message. The story is a simple one involving a mother who regrets having had her children. She wants to be happily wed to her husband and be the apple of his eye, but instead she has to compete with her children and often loses to them when it comes to his affections. She is driving down a road aimlessly with her boys when she happens upon a motel where the Innkeeper warns her of the conditions of the water in the only vacant room - room 13. In room 13, she and her boys discover just how "bad" the water is, thus the psychological trip begins. The acting, lighting, and camera work were all very good in my opinion and set up a proper atmosphere and working together to pull the viewer in. The child actors really played their parts well, the younger representing the purity of innocence and the older representing corruption, or a lack of innocence. The adult actors also do a splendid job at playing their roles convincingly well. The script was good and played out realistically - it never felt corny or cheesy or forced. As for the effects, they took a very creative approach to some familiar and aging shock tactics, which was somewhat revitalizing to the entire experience. The musical score is very fitting, not too loud, produces wonderful atmosphere, and really helps the scenes as they quickly transition, thus helping to make sense of how the actors feel and how the viewers should feel. Overall, it plays out like a Twilight Zone skit, and somewhat masterfully so I would say when considering it's a short film on a rather low budget. The ending is wonderful and powerful as you see the look of despair on her face when met with the fact that she now has what she wished for, but with a horrible twist.
absolutely remarkable filmmaking. I adored it. each shot was beautiful, i understood the story clearly, and it was a great story. i'd LOVE to see this as a full length or a series - creepy motel granting your true desires... i'd watch it! great work, thank you for giving me the best viewing ive had in a long long time.
I hope you all have such an amazing week :)
you are very good Brittany, you should be a writer
Brittany Elaine Wow... smart and beautiful
Brittany Elaine yes it really helped
thank you that helped ALOT.
I don’t think it’s like that she left 3 wishes but rather you get one and that’s it
for people who read comments and are curious to know what this film means… in my opinion :)
The woman wanted to escape from her marriage, maybe wanted to get rid of the boys since she didn't show much love to them as we see in the story… yet she still loved her husband and probably wanted the life they had before the kids. And the husband probably didn't love his wife anymore because of the way the relationship came out and he just wanted to be happy and well with his two sons…
I think that hotel room was haunted or something by the girl Rose, she took her life because she didn't want to have a baby, and the boyfriend at the bathroom door is the same guy that takes care of the hotel… he really wanted to marry her and have a family with her. Her last words were "Maybe next time we can all get what we wanted"
By drinking the water from that bathroom, the girl who had died gave them all what they wanted and it set her spirit, ghost free… Thats why the old man from the hotel says "Good bye Rose" at the end as he sees the father and the two boys leave.
I think the moral of this story is not only to be careful of what you wish for but also getting what you want can have its price to pay, not everyone wants the same things in life…
This short film is truly excellent! Thank you Papercrane Productions LLC for sharing :)

Moral*
So hold tight.
Really enjoyed watching it.
teenabeena39 Good recap! :)
I am loving u right now...
And the old guy was Rose's love in the previous life.
And I think the water is actually the wish of the old guy's. Not Rose's. Because u see how he really understood and in control everything? And at the end he said, goodbye Rose. What goes around comes around right?
🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This honestly needs to be a full-length film. It was absolutely amazing and I loved watching it.

Why do ppl bully their siblings?
We are suppose to look out for our little brothers and sisters, not make their lives hell.
I'm guessing you don't have siblings. It's nature, not just for humans, but a lot of animals to fight with siblings.
FBI that doesnt make it acceptable.Thats why they’re called animals
Moral of the story: Don't drink tap water.

karamei lol, 6 seconds
From the superb acting to the intriguing storyline, everything was phenomenal.
thankyou SM this helped a lot
"verbally or physically harm him", well done.
me thinking that he just wanted his brother to be broken like his doll.

Yeah and also if it looks like sewage.
I'd drink it if whatever I hope for becomes reality.
if its black water and says do not drink. i say drink it because you might miss out on some wishes.
If it grants wishes then who wouldn't want to drink it?
I thought this was gonna be about alcoholism when I saw the title. I wasn't disappointed though.

You don't know how valuable something is until you lose it.
Amen
good comment but I laughed because of your profile pic and name xD
I'm I the only one that thinks in the flashback the boyfriend is really attractive?
No not at all
Omg yessss he's adorable😍😍

That's wasn't a flashback. If you listen to the conversation, he says 'Rose' and not Alice. THEN at the end, the old man said 'Goodbye Rose'. She was haunting that room, but now she is gone.

Haha i thought it was pretty funneh
@@ZomBee04 it was
Ummm, she had it coming.

Jack Ezell How did she deserve it? ;-;
Here's my take on the video.
Also in the beging
She had a daughter and a son not two suns also didnt the death of rose and her baby make the water like that? 😳😳😳😳😧😦😦😦😦😦☹☹🙁🙁🙁🙁
Thank you because I had no fucking clue what the plot was.
No that's wrong
Oh never thought of it that way
😭😭
Brilliant work.
since no one really understands, im gonna try and explain it a bit.
So.. the mother of the boys run away with them, she probably wanted to get rid of them.. but the father loved the boys more than his wife, who's crazy and wanted to get them back. And as you could tell, the water caused things they wished for to be true, as the younger brother wished not to be hurt by his brother, and the mom not to see them. hope it helped a bit for some of you.
Thank you and good recap :)
Did she wish for the boys to disappear or to turn into the dolls? When she was holding the dolls it seemed like she was staring at what they'd become. I get the point that she didn't love them and was jealous of them, feeling her husband loved them more than her.
she wanted them to disappear, towards the beginning she tells the old man that she wished she wouldn't have had kids.
And Rose was free.
liked yours summary. makes sense :)
THAT WAS THE MOST PLOT TWISTS I HAVE EVER SEEN IN ANYTHING EVER
We appreciate everyone who watched our film DRINK!
Very awesome but I'm hella confused
I assume she is rose but how did the hotel guy know ? Was that his way of punishing her?
I have so many questions 😅
Does the water work off desire?
Still coming back for it!
Great film! Could you do a film where there's a character that tries to 'help' in their/its own way but actually makes everyone's life hell?
It a rad movie!
1:19 Look I don't (Recognizing the eyes that Alice had in her previous life as rose)
3:47 Well you seem to have your hands full (Trying to do pep talks so that she also recognize him)
8:01 Alice! I am Grey (Still no recognition of previous life love)
8:13 Alice - You'd be very glad you wouldn't have any(Talking about kids)
8:17 Grey - Please don't say that (Still giving signs to make her remember the Rose and how badly he wanted a life with her and the unborn)
11:17 Rose - May be next time we can all get what we wanted(Making the place enchanted, Still she didn't recognize it was her who took her life at that place while Grey was banging the door and pleading)
19:42 Grey - Goodbye Rose (Finally karma played and now neither she has kids nor the love that she wanted in her present life, exactly what Grey experienced and had gone through)

She searches for a few short minutes but it is quite apparent this is what she wished for
The only part missing seems to be the old man at the end.
thahks

Again (Thesis material so moving on)
*To me, this was, MAINLY, about "Be careful what you wish for..." Let me break it down.
This was pretty awesome! Thanks for watching and taking such an interest in our story!
Great explanation and great short
Theresa Sims can’t read too much
This "film" represents that Alice didn't want her kids because it ruined her marriage with Rick, Rick loved the kids more than her and I guess you could say she wanted her kids to go away, when the old man says "please don't say that", the whole moral begins. :)
No, she said your lucky you dont have kids.. And he said dont say that because rose killed her self while she was pregnant.. You dont understand until you look into it.
@@zoierenee724 Good point!!
When the older brother was without hands i was like "NOPE NOPE NOPE I AIN'T WATCHING THIS" but i still watched until the enft xp
yxsminx diewxld Same lol. I already don't like ppl spontaneously losing their hands, but when they lose their mouth too?! The main things that are way too freaky for me are unnaturally long/shaped limbs and definitely missing, long (e.g. almost ear to ear), or very wide opening mouths.
Then u dislike the Asian woman ghost who ask is she pretty
Next time but a spoiler alert
Found this comment to distract me of the film because I'm very bad at watching horror movies aaaand I'm alone what makes it even worse OMG please help me haha
------ *INTERPRETATION OF THE MOVIE IN DETAIL (don't read before watching!):* -----
I was wondering, why everybody only got one wish, but the father got like 4??
1) he becomes a decent person
2) his boys become nice children
3) they don't remember their mother
4) he made the water curse disappear??
Then I rewatched again two times, I came to the conclusion he wished for an ALTERNATE REALITY.
Since he loved exactly those two children he made his wish very carefully, not like "if I had never knewn her", but instead being a single father the two boys all along.
That puts the woman in a very different light and it all made sense why Rose and her got compared to each other through the vision scene:
---> not only the obvious fact that they boths didn't wanted children, but how they RUINED the lives of EVERYONE through their actions.
If Rick had never known Alice- the children would never have been born or other children would have been born with some other woman. But Rick loves Billy and Clint, so that is no option.
If Alice would have left right after she gave birth to those two kids and Rick raised them by himself,
1) Rick wouldn't have been so miserable that he became an alcoholic.
Crazy = losing himself for her ---> fucked up alcoholic
So in my opinion Rose must have helped Rick to decide.
This movie is NOT about "be careful what you wish for", but *"take RESPONSIBILITY for what you DO."*
Because once the wishing curse is vanished there is no way to return for a regretful person like Alice.
*This short movie was SO WELL DONE!! Every moment and every text part was inevitable, everything made so much sense!*
Please leave a like or a comment, if you think my analysis made sense as well and support the crew by sharing :)
Thank you for the thoughtful response. We made this movie for exactly people like you, people who want to ask questions and dig out subtext and ideas and symbolism to the writing and storytelling. I loved reading this.
But someone does not become an alcoholic because of an unhealthy relationship. You either are or you're not.

Seriously the older brother needs a swift kick to the nuts. 🥜 Hopefully that changes.
🤮👏🏼
Cheshiredolli my younger brother does that to me all the time constantly, he’s 16, I’m 18
I would never trust my sons to be together alone if I were her Jesus
Rose Mauro ohkayyyy I kept thinkin why would she leave them alone together that long lol
Bc stress, fear, angst, desperation, trepidation, dread, panic, anxiety, dismay, etc....will inevitably breed bad choices, severely blur one's judgement, and skew one's ability to think logically/rationally.
Right!

I thought that movie is about alcohol and she is gonna have an accident

This is one of the best shorts I´ve ever seen !!! It all just fits, it makes sense and it leaves good messages : You don`t appreciate the things you love until you loose them, sometimes you just don`t get a second chance, be careful what you wish for and you need to think before you act. This film is absolutely amazing!
PS: The old man was the guy in the flashback that didn´t want the girl (Rose) to kill her self. Right?
+AnaMarsProductions Thank you! So glad you liked it!

Thats exactly right! Thanks for watching.

I thought this was a great short film. I had no trouble understanding what was happening, so I don't understand why the person commenting below feels she has to give everything away... Some people scan down through the comments to get a sense if a short is good or bad. I'd hate to have that comment spoil this wonderful film for others, it was really very good.
I had trouble figuring out what it meant. The comment was very helpful in my opinion.
Wow. I kinda hope you turn this into a full length movie or an anthology type series. Based on a set of limitations. Maybe
• the characters before, after, past lives...
• room #13 theme
• room #13 at that specific motel
• one person's last wish and it's aftermath.
• or even this same root room 13 with Rose's story taken into different genres romance, comedy, comic book, film noir. Etc.
Well just playing with it in my head is fun. Thanks so very much! ♡
Rick stepped out the bathroom like he used Old Spice.
I just noticed room "13"
This film is hauntingly beautiful. Though the fact that she was Rose in her past life trips me up every time.
That was way darker than I could have imagined...Ima gonna need a counseling session or two.

What do you think it is ?
Alice just regretted when she found out that her husband loves her and wants to return home with them, buh the harm has already been caused and she's just out of the picture. And all the wishes have been used. sad though
I recently started making short films. I tend to vent through film making whenever I need to. I suffer from severe social anxiety and depression. i turn my emotions into art; it's the only thing that tends to help me understand myself. I appreciate every view. Lot's of more content to come!!
Glad you have found an outlet Erick! Art is wonderful that way.

Thank you so much, Tyler! We loved reading your analysis.
