- A ragtag group of thieves rob a bank. But they're all undercover cops.
I BET YOU'RE WONDERING HOW I GOT HERE is used with permission from Ryan Polly. Learn more at weekend.video.
A group of four ragtag thieves have just robbed a bank. There's a doofus, a no-nonsense tough chick, a cool and collected ring leader and a suave idiot, all of whom have just managed to come away with a large amount of money.
Cramming themselves into a Volkswagen Beetle, they rendez-vous with the local crime boss at an abandoned building. But the situation goes awry because nothing is as it seems -- and no one seems to know what is going on.
Directed by Ryan Polly from a script co-written with Matt Black, this entertaining comedy short is a rousing, energetic throwback to classic 70s and 80s crime and heist films. Rendered in a dynamic, muscular visual style that blends 70s visual grit with the high-octane camera movement of today's thrillers, it's filled with great affection for the genre, even as it sends up its conventions and cliches with a knowing, ironic eye, a goofball sense of humor and a whole lot of panache.
The storytelling begins at a high point in the action, just after a not-quite-fabulous crew of four (played by actors Eden Lee, Gunner Willis, Andre De'Sean Shanks and Jacob Daniels) rob a bank and gather for the next step. But the real storyline is the unraveling of the tenuous team dynamic that made such an action possible -- a dynamic whose disintegration makes the next steps of the operation impossible unless they get back on the same page.
The characters and situation are quickly established, making clear how mismatched the band of thieves are: Sophie is direct and aggressive, Keegan the voice of strategic calm and reason, Harry is bumbling but sweet and Tommy is an idiot convinced he's a lot smoother than he is. And just as quickly, the situation falls apart, as they realize they're not what they appear. They're not thieves, but undercover cops from the FBI, CIA, DEA and LAPD. And they're at odds, just as they face their most dangerous situation yet.
Appealing to fans of heist films, cop comedies and crime capers, I BET YOU'RE WONDERING HOW I GOT HERE is broad from the comedy to the characterization to the dialogue, but that broadness is part of the appeal, like a big hug that this group desperately needs. Good-natured, audaciously chaotic and impeccably crafted, the storytelling careens from one development to the next, sending up standoffs, role reversals, double-crosses and the like and compressing it all into an impressively well-paced and compact package. It all aims to entertain above all else and succeeds, pulling viewers into a crime caper with buoyancy and an infectious sense of fun. - Фільми й анімація
Hey guys! I’m the actor that played Harry! Thanks so much for the great response to the short, we’re all really proud of it. So stoked to see people enjoying it!
Yoooo
Really good work man I thought your character was hilarious
Best character
Easily the best acting in the short, and it was ALL really good acting!
Unique and pretty darn good! Best Wishes,
Thanks for watching everyone! I'm Ryan, the director and co-writer of this short. So happy to share it with the world on Omeleto, a place I love that has hosted a lot of our shorts in the past (STALLED, MONITOR, THE WAGES OF SIN). Please continue to let us know what you think! I love these characters and had a blast making this love-letter to heist & crime movies, leaning into and subverting all my favorite tropes of the genre.
Happy holidays and enjoy the movie 🍿
Great movie! Genuinely enjoyed!
A wonderful piece with a lot packed in a small amount of time while being smoothed out and easy to digest. I almost forgot this was a short because the pacing and well-rounded characters were done so well. this is genuinely very good cinema right here!
Thanks! It was a fun watch 🙂
I think that this truly is cinema.
I think that this truly is cinema.
I love the plot twist where he realises he was actually shot and the car badge didn't stop it 😂 I fully expected that to happen
He said there was blood, so it was obvious he was shot.
Same😂
I was so confused, I thought it was weird he got shot in the car thing but there was still blood😂
You love the plot twist that you expected to happen? wuhhh lol
"undercover"... has massive radio on full blast in coat pocket
Great premise. Hilarious acting. Beautifully shot. Incredible score. Let’s see it on the big screen, this is feature material 🍿 great job Bonus team!
yep, big screen time
Yes! I concur!! 🤩🤩🤩
I would prefer it to be a tv show
Lmao and who are you the Hollywood scout?💀😂😂

"I'd rather be good at being a good guy than bad at being a good bad guy" is a hilariously great line lmao and well delivered

Oh the driver is the same guy who got stuck in a time paradox :)
i was thinking the same thing.
Thank you for confirming my suspicion😅
@@Charlottem26 your welcome
I love that guy
I knew he looked familliar!
the whole thing felt like it came straight out of the 70s and it's hilarious. excellent
Yeah I think it's a deliberate nod to 70's cop shows lol .
@@gemstar7286 there are so many layers; police ineptitude, a blurred line of morality, power dynamics and perceptions there of, a nod to Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs, a love of that 70's feel and comedy, and much more that i probably didn't even noticed
This was fantastic and so much fun. If this ever gets a feature film, please keep the same cast. Everyone was GREAT.
This.
Hollywold exec: nah, i don't think I will
Yeeeaah... This deserves a full mov... trilogy. This deserves a full trilogy.
This was FANTASTIC! Well written, acted, and directed. I would love to see this as a feature!
I second this.
I know, there definately needs to be a sequal
please go back to writing reviews of the wiggles. That's more your speed

I loved these four. Such a range and each is interesting and funny in their own way, the perfect crew/group. Would love to see any of them again especially all together. I loved it all the way through and great job to everyone involved.

Loved how the end credits were shot-for-shot with The Man From U.N.C.L.E, great touch.
SO glad someone caught that 🫡 Criminally underrated classic.
That was insane production value for a UA-cam video. I feel like that was the highlights of a feature length film.
It’s Omeleto, they post short films. UA-cam isn’t just YTPs…
Thank you all for tuning in, I play Keegan Crenshaw in this short. We appreciate the positive & negative feedback ❤️
DOPE! what’s next?!
Fantastic job man!
You nailed it.
If I am not mistaken, the gentleman playing the crime boss has played the part of a drug cartel leader in Sicario. Benicio Del Toro's character shoots him towards the end while he is having a dinner with his family.
Yes, His name is Lorenzo Piquela. He is from Spain and he used to be an astronaut and deep sea fisherman, until the bottom dropped out in 73.
I was wondering where I recognized him from
@@LOSTONITALL Wow. That's amazing. Man of multiple talents. 👌
Yep his name is Julio Cesar Cedillo
Yep, his name is Calos Juan Lopez
this might just be my favorite one. This was hilariously absurd. Crenshaw and everyone else pulling out those massive walkie talkies lmao
Anybody else wishes this was an entire movie or series ?
Didn't something like this happen when an undercover officer busted an undercover police officer posing as a drug dealer only to nearly get arrested by another undercover team qho were tracking the drug dealer?
Departed
Yup lmao first thing I thought of seeing this pop up
If you can’t appreciate a good whoosh cut I don’t know what to do for you but if you’re looking to have some fun, Bonus Features is here to entertain you!
This short features dynamic photography, outstanding set and costume design, a great cast and a consistently wild and wonderful score from the one and only Bex Worley (who also did the score on Stalled by the way!)
Speaking of Stalled, Matt Black is back co-writing the script with director Ryan Polly! Movies don’t get much more fun to watch or to make than they are with Ryan and the Bonus Features crew!
Give it a watch!
this was a great premise. im wondering how it might be developed further into a longer form (movie or series) and how it might be able to sustain itself over that medium (especially with some issues like stereotyping or cliche gags, etc.), but as a starting point it has a lot of good stuff and definitely a lot of charm. great work.
So funny story this is actually adapted from the feature script. Pulled a scene from the feature and adapted some elements to make it a contained story as a short film. I won't give to much away from the feature script, but lets just say lots of montages and flashbacks to reveal more complexity about our main characters. 🤘
I hope that means someday we'll get to see the feature film of this @@grantwakefield1172
Id actually like to see the team go along before they all exposed their cover
The shot of the four undercover vans practically next to each other 💀 None of them even thought it looked kinda sus.
The actors are all superb, deserve bigger films really enjoyed it. Give us more featuring these actors
Harry REALLY needs to put his weapon away 🤣🤣🤣!!!
The shot of all the vans talking to each other cracked me up.
This desperately needs to be a full film 😂
Turns out the guy they thought was the boss....was INTERPOL! And the boss...was MI5! The guy they shot was an undercover boss seeing how his minions were doing for a reality show...
This was some epic stuff.
Love this directing style. Almost like guy ritchie directed a comedy. So well done
This deserves a full length film
HA HA loved the 70's vibe. I hadn't noticed how bad the camera shot's were back then when we watched the tv loll
whoever came up with this idea is genius
Big time Jackie Brown vibes. Also Starsky and Hutch. Absolutely awesome.
You know when Ryan Polly, Matt Black and Jacob Daniels are all involved in a short film it’s gonna be fire
Jacob Daniels 😝😝😩😩
Nah bro, this needs to be a whole movie. Loooooved this
Golly, can we all just marvel at the fact that this is a SHORT FILM yet feels like a daggum FEATURE?!?
I recognize that one actor, he played in a story where he was stuck in a timeloop in a bathroom because an old man put him under a spell.
Yes sir! Jacob Daniels!
Something like this actually happened to me. A friend and i were enjoying a late lunch at a restaurant, and all of a sudden, there's 3-4 police cars rolling up sirens on flashing lights, the whole nine yards. Turns out, two undercover police officers were running a sting, and the staff at the restaurant noticed these two guys just hanging around looking suspicious, and called the cops.
So you have a bunch of uniformed police arresting two undercover cops. It was on the local news and everything.
So that's what he ended up doing after escaping the time paradox!
I want to watch a full movie about this now.. it felt like a comedy version of mission impossible 😂😂
How has this video not blown up yet?! Only 57k?!
Looks like it’s on its way 👌🏻
"That's right. I love you" this one got me lmao
Great camera work, fun acting , good music and script. Professional grade for sure!
You got some madcap comedy here. Great job all around - writing, directing, production, acting. Could there be a series in your future?
Lots of laugh out loud moments. The bit with the undercover vans... all within sight of each other... killed me. And, Tommy's constant flirting with the female gangster... I know I've seen this bit in some other movie or short, but still funny.
A lot of Bullet Train vibes, and I mean that in the most positive way possible, I loved that movie...definitely deserves feature film treatment.
I want more backstory on these 4 😂
This is the coolest thing ive seen on UA-cam, whoever made this deserves all the love and praise coming to them!
never did i think a man who made videos about fun easter eggs in films would be making really good short films! well done!
This definitely works as a prequel to Sicario, if you ask me
This is like if Reservoir Dogs and SNL had a baby. I love it
saw the actor from stalled and immediately clicked on this video
The one and only Jacob Daniels!
I want this to be a full movie. I love it!!!
This was incredible. Really loved the colour grading especially!! Would def love to see this as a feature
Absolutely flawless stuff. Also im mad crushing on the police chick.
this was hilariously fantastic!!!! great job guys!!!!!!!
I would gladly watch a full-length feature with these characters, or even a series. The writing, direction, acting, and comedic timing, are all top notch here. Cinematography and score are great too. Well done to everyone involved!
This deserves way more recognition. Entertaining af!!
You outdid yourself on this one. The best story!!!
So after leaving the time loop he goes on to be an officer to help those in need.
He really learned a lot in that bathroom.
This one was that kind of comedy we all love
I want this as a full length movie
Cory Wong at the end made this already great short film even better for me, love this director's films and I look forward to seeing more from him in the future!
I see he loves Tarantino so much. very good!
They needed someone from Homeland Security to REALLY screw things up. "Hey guys, what's evidence? My background is in photojournalism before I applied. Now I'm a general in Space Force. Cool, right?"
This was SOOO GOOD. I need this to be a movie or show now. Keep the same cast, they were great.
This almost had a *Reservoir Dogs* feel to it.
Not almost, I think it was heavily inspired from the idea of Undercover Cop to them arriving to a warehouse similar to the one in reservoir dogs.
This shirt needs to be a full movie, or at least get a. Sequel plus it has plenty of room for a prequel. I know it’s infinitely unlikely but is such a good concept
I would watch an entire series of this team! This was absolute fire!
2:20 bro looks like he's about to say MAMMA MIA. ITS A ME. A MARIO
I LOVE the "identical except for the graphics" vans!
Great short! Great characters, story, and MUSIC. Gimme me more Harry Feldstein!
This is a good one. It should be made into a feature film or even a TV series, but keep the same cast!!!
13:11 damn, that's one subtle product placement right there..😄
The premise makes me think about "The man who was thursday" (spoilers from a book that's more than 100 years old) where the main character was an undercover cop and all the bad guys he infiltrated with were also undercover cops
This was a lot of fun. Great work on this short!
This was amazing, stuff like this is why I watch omelto
I would die to watch that as a full length movie
Thanks for this 70’s throwback. It’s genius!
No please don't leave it on a cliff hanger. it actually made me laugh, another episode pleeeease
This is not getting the attention it deserves, really well done
Loved it! really great and funny and I loved each one of the characters. Very well done!
I loved it! I hope to see more content like this in the future and maybe even see it go onto the bug screens!
Dang this was such a fun short film! This totally deserves a feature film!!
Love this Edgar Wright meets Wes Anderson!
Masterpiece,
The characters, the plot, the music
10/10
That was fantastic good job whoever wrote this!
Brilliant! Ryan & Co! Absolutely great script, acting and photography. I want to see the WHOLE MOVIE! 🥃🥃🥃!
They're the dudes playing the dudes disguised as other dudes
Isn’t one of them the actor who played in another short on this channel?
The one with the guy being stuck in a time paradox in a toilet
Yep! Jacob Daniels
He played that Asian female role really well
I need a whole season of this
Okay this is my favorite so far.
Better than some 90 minit films.
Thank you film creators!
These are better than most $100mil budget movies
Now that one was fun! Well done, folks.

This is a 10/10, and I don’t give those out to just anyone
Yeah, I'm gonna need a part 2, Lol. This was really good
A little corny but decent skit, good acting, overall light hearted fun. I liked it.
