still remember using either bash or concentration before ww. These days maybe bash or concentration may be a good choice than ww. good thing about bash is it is so fast kinda like smite of paladin.
I love the middle combat skills. Just different ways to punch the shit out of enemies. I got killed once on nightmare act iv. I ended up buffing my naked bars with orders and shout and then concentrate punching my way through the hordes to my body. Then the whirlwinds resumed!!!
I have built around this skill sporting a grief, arreats with 14md 13 all res jewel, high lords, storm with 34ed 15md jewel,958 COH KS,venom grip, string of ears, gore's,D star, raven frost, 20 Concentrate, 20 berserk, 20 BO, 20 sword, currently 15 shout rest 1 point wonders and prereqs. skill points disappear fast. Even with my 11% bone break my phys damage reduction is 46%
Sweet char,I keep meaning to get around to a concentrator in d2r,haven't built one since like the .09 days lol. Just wrapped up a sick glorious axe whirlbarb and I'm mad at myself for not building him sooner.
I made a conc/zerker back pre-synergies and was able to solo D-clone while my blizz sorc friend kept getting OHKO'ed by the fire nova. My gear was subpar IK set and low torch and anni
I don't see how you can "lose" damage by using amplify damage with a skill that converts 20% of it's phys to magic. You may not be getting the full benefit that you would be with 100% phys output, but you're still doing 80% phys. And if you're using the skill regardless of the curse, the damage is being applied as one number. Adding a phys damage resist subtraction to the mob is still going to net you more damage overall because you'll be doing more damage with the phys you're still applying. Am I missing something about how negative res works? Seems pretty simple but one of us is missing something. Likely me but I would like to remedy that if that's the case.
So let's say I'm 100 damage to a monster. It's all physical. I cast amplify damage which doubles that damage 200. If I add in the magical component which converts 20% of my damage to magic, I'm now doing 100 total damage but 20 of that is magic. So now when I cast amplify damage which increases my physical damage. It's 80x2 = 160 +20 = 180 I have lost 20 damage because the magic damage is unaffected by amp. And the resistance from magic can't be reduced. I can bring a monster down to -100 physical. I can't bring a monster down to -100 magic.
@@GGMentor right which is what I was thinking. But the way it was worded almost made it sound in the video like somehow I'd be losing damage by using a curse with that skill. As in, somehow that damage was going to go below the 100 mark because of it. That's what I would define as "losing" damage. You're still gaining, significantly, just not as much as if you had full phys. Thanks for clarifying
One thing I’ve noticed is that plus to skills does not contribute to the magic conversion damage of berserk. I have one skill point in berserk but plus 8 from equipment and the magic conversion listed in concentrate is still only at 1%
question to another topic ..am i crazy or does prebuffing thunderstorm on sorc not work as it used to? i could bet i played with no point in ts and prebuffing it befor and it worked fine now if u prebuff and switch weapon it stops working ??
Well masteries are active buffs, like lightning mastery. So any plus to skills that affect lightning mastery once taken away won't remain. But plus skills hard skills on the ability will. So like say you bring the base up from 400-> 500 that will remain but not the bonus damage granted by lightning mastery that is an active buff
@@GGMentor u dont get it ? thunderstorm is on prebuff ..u cast it switch weapon but the skill dont atack if u dont have a point in it although the aura is shown prebuffing thunderstorm is broken that has nothing to do with lightmastery or skill lvl
Could you describe that “convert” more accurate? I mean if i have weapon and all dmg amp plus critical strike and in the end i will have 5k dmg - does that 20% magic dmg is converted after all dmg multiplicators or just from weapon base dmg?
the 20% magic damage is converted before Amp, so amp does nothing. It also does not "Add" Damage it only Converts 20% of your physical into Magic, taking away 20% physical as a result. leaving you with 80% physical 20% magical.
Concentrate/berserk doesn't apply to anything outside Diablo 2. Kinda weird way to fight ghosts. 20 hours of meditation is useless against spirits. Just get really angry and throw your fist at it. Why did the ghostbusters even need science? Hulk smash those ghosts. Kick them in the jaw.
Oh I must disagree with you, frenzy and concentrate are nothing like whirlwind. The dps applied to groups with the latter is way, way higher. 2x throw with high pierce is the other "aoe" skill that the barb has.
What I meant by comparing them is Whirlwind is actually just a single target hit just like concentrate, it's fast like frenzy but it's still many many many single target strikes.
I see what you mean :), and in fact whirl is really good for single target as well. My point is that even high level conc/bers are no substitute for whirl when it comes to groups, not even close. Your analysis seems to imply that clear speed will be kind of the same. Whirlwind (and now double throw with the welcome changes) is the one skill that makes barb gameplay not a chore. Thankfully it has no synergies so you can combine it with whatever else you want. It's essential, even as 1 point wonder if you don't want to build it. Everything else, just too slow :/
Concentrate Barb was my 2nd character ever. Did NOT know the +Magic damage was just a conversion. That's kind of a bummer.
yeah, they lies to you!

dam maybe barbarian is going back to noob days. howl and concentration. lol

Berserk. When you’re so angry you successfully punch ghosts and swarms of bees to death.
god bless you man , keep the great content
My first barb in single player was polearm concentrate build. I had a bonehew with shael and pul rune in it :D
Barbarian is the only character I play LOL. Love my barbs
me too, main barb forever
Love the barb, it’s my favorite class

Building one right now!!!
Second question 😁:
The +ed% of concentrate is applied to physical dmg only? Or element dmg added too?
Physical
I made a conc/zerker back pre-synergies and was able to solo D-clone while my blizz sorc friend kept getting OHKO'ed by the fire nova. My gear was subpar IK set and low torch and anni
Question if im playing offline
What you recommend better? 7 or 8 players difficulty in terms of drops
7 is the highest drops go

Currently building a double swing barb. Death/Beast. Should be fun
I would caution against beast as your main hand weapon because the durability is so low it will break all the time ={
Does Off hand weapon durability degrade at a diminished rate?

Yup. Bash, stun, conc, and berserk all use the right hand weapon/fist.
@@Lieutenant_Dude Thanks. I got used to it, but I actually like the variety in the animation of the normal attack.
😮

yeah, a tank that cant kill anything on p8)
As if anyone needed more reasons to never play a barb ffs
I think I was pretty positive about this skill overall
@@GGMentor ahh so you understand my point then.. 😆
