When it comes to The Nine, why does nobody ever connect the fact that there were 9 crew members missing after the people who eventually became the Awoken went through the singularity? That’s not a coincidence, right?

@@imnotkirasora5288 I know a lot of players that dive deep into the lore have made the connection and talk about it, and while there is nothing cannon confirming it, I just feel like that’s way to big of a coincidence to not be connected. Even if those missing 9 are not THE Nine, it seems like they would have been used by The Nine for something. I dunno. I just feel like it’s something that may come into play that we should keep in the forefront of our thoughts regarding the Destiny universe. But who knows. Those Awoken didn’t become the Nine, though it’s important not to forget them. The Nine are sentient dark matter entities living outside of material reality. The nine awoken who disappeared are one of several groups of “nine” individuals associated with the Nine themselves. For example, nine ghosts that “exited the solar system and contemplated the heliopause,” and encountered the Nine, and were interrogated by Orin. There were also “Deep Orbit Minds,” who it was confirmed Orin spoke with at one point.
If you look at the grimoire card “Ghost Fragment: Legends 2,” you’ll see several of these, including the Awoken, as well as “ancient leviathan intelligences” from “the hydrocarbon pits of Titan (we happen to be encountering a Leviathan intelligence next season on Titan.) we don’t know exactly how these beings are related to the Nine but maybe it will be answered soon.

My dream for the IX is for them to reveal the Speakers confession to one of our allies or enemies, and we delve into mysteries of the Light the Speaker kept hidden, just so that his death in the Red War can be addressed somehow in-game cause it was a complete narrative waste beside the knowledge the player on the other side got.

not to mention we got a HUGE reveal in the lore about his mask--it's a reciever that let him commune with the traveler. he COULD talk to the traveler but he let himself be remembered as a fraud to keep the secret, and then the consul smashed the mask. it's in zavala's office with gold bits holding it together now but it probably doesn't work

I’d like to see a season, either before or after Final Shape, in which Neoumuna, the Vanguard, and other faction representatives, work together to restructure the City’s government. Neomuna would still have records of how things were done in the Golden Age, and we still need a civilian government amongst the Last City’s council. Mara, Petra, Caital, Saladin, Mithraks, Eido, Saint, Zavala, Ikora, and Crow are a no brainer. Nimbus or Quinn could represent Neomuna among the Coalition’s council. While a select few could handle the City’s needs, and collaborate with the Coalition leadership after the Witness is dead and we can rebuild.

I’d like Bungie to explore the story of the colony of pacifist Guardians after Final Shape. With the Witness and its forces dead or imprisoned, the peaceful Guardians that once abandoned Sol could return to set up permanent roots in a more peaceful system. Also, notice how the old Tower has been steadily rebuilt though out the years? It’d be a wonderful hub for the Coalition leaders: Mara, Caital, Mithrax, Zavala, Ikora, and others, to meet in person for meeting to discuss the state of Sol and any future conflicts or issues post Final Shape. I know we have the HELM, but it feels more like a mobile hub to me, for exploring beyond Sol and keeping the Coalition informed on operations whenever needed.

Man, the mechanism of Savathûn's death is still so wild to me.
Savathûn is a true wildcard in my opinion. Simply for the fact she would never really side with the Guardians, unless it served her own purpose.
Fikrul could be swayed, but it'd be a truly difficult undertaking. Fikrul is interesting simply because of the influence of Wish Magic. It subverts all kinds of logic, allowed Riven some kind of will of her own. I wouldn't go so far as to state its paracausal in nature, but at least paracausal adjacent.
Need more Fikrul Lore, does the Wish Magic allow the same degree of free will. Oryx's taking of Riven should have held some kind of grip in theory, but The Witness I'd say is one step beyond. If it were Oryx's force of will, perhaps, The Witness though...ehhh I dunno.
Biggest wildcard? The Vex. They're a neutral force using any means towards furthering their goal, as indescribable as that purpose may be.
Would they ever work with the Guardians? Absolutely not. (Outside a few outliers, thanks to Asher's influence)
Elephant in the room, the Sol Divisive. Vex devoted to The Darkness. More an outlier than the Vex as a whole. Vex utilised by The Witness to further their own ends.
Additionally, if you mean to tell me that in their infinite possibilities, there isn't a single timeline, with a sect of fanatical Vex devoted to The Light, I'd be surprised.
(Also, if Vance strides out of The Infinite Forest with a Vexy Cult of Osiris Light worshippers, I'll cry)

I think that one of the biggest wildcards that exist doesnt really get talked about most likely because it is a ancient source we get to know them from. The books of sorrow speak of the mother Taox that had betrayed the then Krill and teamed up with multiple races the Traveller had blessed as she was fleeing from the Hive that had sworn to one day destroy her. We never got a clear ending on her story so i wonder if she is still somewhere out there admittedly the Krill didnt have long lives but the books mention the Mother spawn living longer that would still have to put the average age of Krill that i believe was 7 to a ridiculous length as she would have to be older than the 3 sisters of the osmium court without ever taking in Hive larva. I understand that Taox is probably the biggest longshot ever but i would love to someday see a conclusion to her story.

But let's also bring up a game play perspective, it's very clear that each "ally" to the light has a dark mirror, Mithrax Eramis Caiatl Calus Savathun Xivu Arath, the only one most likely to betray the witness is Eramis and I doubt bungie would have another dark mirror betray the witness especially one who's seemingly very loyal.

    @markricheard1870 Рік тому +7

Personally I actually think Fikrul, the Fanatic is a 1# Fan of the Witness, and has been in communion with the Witness for a long time. My evidence for this is as follows:
What Fikrul calls Guardians *"Dead Things"* was not a term first sad by him, but rather, a term said by the Darkness way back in Destiny 1 Grimoire Cards about the *Black Garden.* There was a Warlock who was known as a "Thatanonaut" a Guardian who committs ritual suicide to gain knowledge and visions post-death before being revived. During one of these rituals, a Warlock I cant remember the name of encountered a vision of the Black Garden, they found a flower in the shape of a ghost and reached down to pluck it, but it pricked them with a wound on their hand. It spoke the following,
*"You are a Dead Thing, made by a Dead power, in the Shape of the Dead. All you will ever do is kill. You do not belong here. This is a place of Life."*
Now, I really think this was indeed the Witness speaking to a Guardian through a Ghost. The Witness is well-known to possess Ghosts and speak through them. So what if, every time that Fikrul dies, he also sees himself in the Black Garden, and sees the Witness calling Guardians "Dead Things" and this is what motivates him to crusade against Guardians?
    Further evidence:
Giant Scorn bosses titled *"The Fanatics Chosen"* lead Purple-Colored Scorn Legions into Rhulks Pyramid on a Weekly basis, and yes, the Fanatic's Chosen are colored Purple.
A deafult, Yellow-colored Scorn Boss appears in the Moon Heist, with the original Yellow/Rust Scorn colors, and Mara Sov says its directly controlled by the Witness, this proves that a Scorns Armor color, Purple or Yellow, does NOT indocate Factions. What it does reprisent, we dont know.
So yeah thats why I think Fikrul has been brainwashed by the Witness for a long time and might even be a Disciple Candidate :p

Savathûn has had plenty of time to internalize the deception of the Witness and Rhulk with Immaru. Fynch's knight guardian is not too happy about staying dead and certainly let's Fynch know that. Fanatic I think crow gets to join us and savathun I think was always on team traveler and just learns to work with us.
What intrigues me is the 9, we still don't I think even know what they are. Were they created from the void naturally or was this something created by paracaual means like the clash of light and dark that created awoken. Why would the void have weapons to give us via xur. Why would half them be on our side and half them not, wont the destruction of the universe kill them too or do they think the witness can give them power to manifest in the physical. What if the witness is a 9 that learned to manifest and is hunting the traveler to take paracasual power to manifest the others. What if we are in a big vex like simulation and the 9 are the people outside running it taking bets on if the light or dark wins. Like wtf is even the 9.
It'll also be interesting to see how the vex play out. I assumed they would be the next big bad after the witness because they finally learn the equations of light and dark from our final battle. So they become the new big bad with light, dark and time powers but maybe not with Asher messing with them. Maybe they get a borg / unimatrix zero type thing and get there individuality back to join us in the final battle like all the destiny avengers coming together.

the idea of Destiny being a very literal video-game has always interested me. ive always felt that the witness is aware of the fact that there is a real-life player behind The Guardian, and the Ahamkhara all seem to believe they are within a game. way back in the Halo days, cortana said chief had something no other spartan had: "luck". that "luck" was the player on the sticks. the game of flowers is also, interestingly, said to be played on an infinite 2-dimensional grid; in contrast to a board game like chess that has a third dimension and where we can physically lift up and move the pieces. a 2-dimensional grid can be seen as a computer monitor.
next, consider for a moment the people of neomuna and bizarre focus on the cloudark in LF's campaign. the people of neomuna can walk around city of neomuna from within the cloudark - they can even visit the cloudark computer in real life from their virtual glowing yellow orb, but they cant physically interact with it in this state. however, a citizen of neomuna can then exit the cloudark and go to the exact same place their virtual orb was - now able to physically touch and damage the cloudark computer.
when i hear "mind and memory of our universe", i think "CPU and RAM". it makes me think that the veil is exactly like the cloudark, a simulation engine.
ive always felt the witness *knows* that there is a player behind The Guardian, and wants the same level of power that the player has over the destiny universe. as players, we possess the capability to do the one thing the witness is incapable of: turning the game off.
the only problem i have with this theory is its incredibly difficult to pull off logistically. how are you gonna portray a video game character breaking the fourth wall without it really happening

I think Savathun is definitely going to be a some what “enemy of my enemy” figure. After all she has for told certain events so far, the ability to move worlds and an enemy of the witness is on Titan. She very well could have planned everything out including dying to us in the final battle (although not in the way she thought/planned).
If there is one thing though I do hope that the Nine get some form of content whether that be a return to the reckoning for a Gambit rework or a season dedicated to their standing in the war of life.

Some of the other wild card factions I'd consider would be the Psion Conclave, who we last saw aligned with Darkness in Vox Obscura but who might be looking to go their own way after the Shadow Legion became a thing and a god from their ancient past (hi Nezarec) returned; at the very least, we know enough about the Psions to say they likely don't want the end of all life everywhere. We also have our old factions still somewhere in the system, with Dead Orbit and New Monarchy still holding on to a fleet after the Future War Cult's shenanigans in Season of the Splicer. Lastly we have the Vex, who are all over the place. Asher might be in the process of splintering or undermining the collective, the Sol Divisive are in a weird spot after getting effectively backstabbed by the Witness in the Deterministic Chaos quest in the Black Garden to cover up the connection between the Black Heart and the Veil, and the rest of the network is likely still trying to figure out how to survive with everything that's happening.

Fikrul as a wildcard is fascinating - I can only imagine what he's been up to since the Hollowed Lair strike got DCV'd...permadeath isn't likely a thing with Riven's eternal wish-magic constantly bringing him back to life, but since he and The Guardian stopped beating the crap out of each other in that strike every week or so he's had to have been doing something. Has he set aside his thirst for revenge on the Vanguard to look for ways to bring the Scorn out from under the shadow of the Witness? Has he been trying to personally convert more Eliksni into new Scorn, only to fail and see them run off to join the Witness' forces? Is he sitting on a couch in the Empty Tank, crying into a mug of whatever booze is left behind and listening to the same four songs on repeat while lamenting how everything in his life has been taken away from him?
I doubt Fikrul would get over his hatred of The Guardian but I do think he'd be a begrudging seasonal ally, long enough to break the Witness' control over the Scorn so they ultimately could go their own way (setting up Fikrul and the Scorn as a future enemy in Destiny 3 or whatever post-Saga of Light and Darkness expansions are released for Destiny 2). That honestly might work best as the final season of The Final Shape, where we enlist the aid of the last and least-likely group in the Solar System to finally turn the tide against the Witness and the Shadow Legion.
This of course assumes that Savathûn and the Lucent Hive can negate or temporarily detain Xivu Arath's main Hive forces and that we gain some measure of power over the Taken as part of the final Darkness subclass and opening campaign for The Final Shape. I'm trying to figure out what the last seven seasons will focus on, after all:
-Season of the Deep - Titan returns with an ever-fiesty Deputy Commander Sloane having learned some interesting things about the Long Boy in the Soup, and what that creature can do to help us either strike back against the Witness in the future or learn about the triangle portal. The Hive are the featured enemy of the season.
-Season 22 - Eramis continues to waffle about her allegiance to the Witness. Perhaps whatever deputies are left running the show ramp up conversion of House Salvation members into being Scorn and Wrathborn, or there is some calamity threatening Eido that causes Eramis to go guns-hot to come to the rescue. Eliksni may be the featured enemy for the last time in this season. I also really wonder if this is where Zavala's story will end, depending on how far ahead Lance's voice recordings go...if my guess about this season is right, it could be a great moment for Zavala to risk and ultimately lose his life trying to save Eido and Eramis - it would cement for Eramis that her former allies are truly her enemies and that her former enemies are worthy of being new allies.
-Season 23 - whether Io returns or not, Asher definitely returns with some Vex-themed shenanigans in mind. Perhaps he has a way to adjust Vex survival calculations to include cooperation with Alliance forces, or at least a cessation of hostilities that could provide relief for Neomuna. Vex would obviously be the featured enemy, and the final campaign mission could involve wiping out a particular Mind that favors the Witness.
-Season 24, The Final Shape - perhaps we finally figure out how to breach the triangle portal thanks to Asher's Vex-themed assistance. Resonance, a Guardian-compatible method of Taking (or at least Un-Taking) is learned in the process, with the Taken being the most appropriate featured enemy. Unless they come back to augment the Shadow Legion in the final season of the Saga, this may be the last time we see them in quantity.
-Season 25 - whatever secrets we learned from the Long Boy are finally coming to fruition...but it requires reviving Savathûn and finally gaining the favor of The IX to make it happen. Immaru is understandably hesitant and thinks he's figured out a way to resurrect Savathûn without cooperating with the Vanguard. Lucent Hive forces are the featured enemy.
-Season 26 - with a freshly-reborn Savathûn looking to make the Witness pay and The IX wholly on our side, we have our final major tilt with Xivu Arath's Hive. Savathûn ultimately convinces Xivu Arath that the Witness has used the Hive from day one and to turn her attention elsewhere, thus depriving the Witness of a key ally right before the final showdown. The Hive is obviously the featured enemy, and for the last time before post-Saga content is released.
-Season 27, the end of the SoLaD - we spend much of the season having one final go-round with Fikrul, who after nearly two years of searching for a way to break the Witness' control over his children finally figures it out. Much to his horror, only paracausal beings with mastery over both Light and Dark can truly help him, leading him to (very) begrudgingly reach out to Queen Mara and The Guardian for assistance. With the Scorn finally freed and The Guardian having amassed enough power to alter reality like only the Witness and Traveler ever have before, Alliance forces have the combined strength to wipe out the Witness and the Shadow Legion. The Final Shape is shown to have sort of been in front of our faces all along...like with the Awoken, a balance of Light and Dark together in harmony rather than in opposition is the way forward. Perhaps the Traveler and Witness are merged together, perhaps they're time-traveled back before the beginning of time (or after the end of it), perhaps they do what Savathûn only dreamed of and ascended to a wholly different plane of existence.
-Season 28??? - Fikrul pulls a sneaky on us and sees a Vanguard exhausted after an epic fight with the Witness as ripe for revenge. The Scorn invade somewhere important (maybe Io finally?) and we need to find a way to break the wish-magic and end him for good. This is even more wild speculation than my ideas for the previous seasons, as there is nothing solid on even initial development for Destiny 3 and the latest rampant rumormongering has D3 being a launch title for the next generation of consoles (possibly as a PS6 exclusive, if Sony doesn't like money all that much). There are still loose ends dangling out there, not just with Fikrul either: maybe Drifter and Spider stop being so helpful, maybe Eliksni who don't feel like joining House Light but feel abandoned by House Salvation reform House Devils, maybe Xivu Arath is the one to pull a sneaky on us, maybe Savathûn can't help but fight us again, maybe Queen Mara sacrifices herself in the final battle against the Witness and there's a power vacuum in the Reef, maybe Calus raided an Athaeneum World for some alternative resurrection tech, maybe the Vex calculate that there's no time like the present to cause trouble...or maybe we find out that the Witness was dealing with something even worse on the other side of the galaxy and we've got some entirely new foe to deal with for a year or three until D3 actually does get released.

Mara Sov has constantly reminded us that she and by extension the entire awoken people are a cosmic balancing of the scales, born of both light and dark, they keep that delicate balance of the universe by switching allegiances as needed to prevent either side from becoming too dominant. The awoken are allied with the light for now because the darkness is so overwhelming. Should we manage to shift the tides too much in our favor by removing too many of the witness's core allies and minions, there shouldn't be any doubt that the awoken would follow their queen and turn against us to prevent us from destroying the darkness.

An interesting tidbit from the Season of the Drifter:
'The Witch' entry in the 'Dust' lore book talks about the two factions within the Nine, the five that observe the Light and the four that are trying to escape the Dark:
_"The other faction walks a different path. A path of folds and needles slipped through spacetime itself, existential syringes yielding new spaces, to be _*_remade_*_ as the Nine desire. They have tried to gather enough dark dust in one place to form a black hole, and found it difficult: when the dark mass collapses in gravity's fist, the dust passes through itself and scatters._
_But difficult is not impossible. And there is far, far more dark matter in the universe than bright. They will find a way to _*_make new worlds_*_ of it. They will end their _*_dependence on life_*_ and on the Light of Guardians, which the falling veil will soon snuff out forever..."_
This information could be a possible hint to the origins of the Witness, a being of dark matter that weilds the Dark to reform the universe into it's idea of the Final Shape: A universe where only the Nine exist to consume on primordial Dark Matter. Which makes some sense given the many references to 'drinking the light' on the VotD prophecy wall.
It's honestly the only theory I can think about at the moment.

(speculation and theory) some groups that might show up again are the old city factions and the concordat. If that old theory of the concordat scooping up the factions after season of the splicer is true or bungie takes their story a similar way, than we might end up with the dead orbit fleet back in play with the others possibly mixed in either with or against us. If the concordat scooped them up, than they might become a major threat to us as they know the city well and can easily outnumber any of our fleets(from what I remember) assuming it tries to return( i remember hearing something about that but i need to read up on them again so might be wrong there). If they join us in some way, bungie could likely do something with that as its a massive fleet of ships meant to tough out the universe and they have been building up assets and studying the system of sol for roughly 2 years now(dead orbit specifically). Its likely that they have formed both positive and negative connections with all or some of the factions in the system and that could be tied in with the current story(all factions). Plus some of that dead orbit research could lead to us following the witness as they were trying to find and study the distributary and that might lead to something useful (pure speculation on my part and likely wrong but interesting to think of if somehow true). And the other factions(not dead orbit) might still have some tricks up their sleeves somewhere in the system that bungie could put in play.

In terms of Savathun, I think it is worth noting that she was only a God of Deception due to her worm, and the meddling of Rhulk and The Witness. The Hive's hosting of the Worms came with the price of never straying from their nature, Savathun's being that of deception. If she ever did, her Worm would devour her from the inside out. We extracted and contained her Worm. She then can return and for the first time, choose whether to be deceptive or not. I actually believe that her original death, which led to the Traveler choosing her, was Savathun the direct result of her having us extract her worm in the season previous to Witch Queen. The worm sustained her. With it removed, she knew she would die.

Ngl, I'd absolutely love to see the Shadows of Yor make a return, possibly deal with the Praxic Order and the Hidden as well. With us dealing more with Darkness it seems they could be more relevant more now than ever, would even like to see in game characters for Shin and Teben, maybe like the vendors for the season

Riven. Something we know nothing about since last wish. The last words of the techions were "return to us for plans to come". What is meant by that, and even in death, does she have bigger plans?

I think the drifter and all his dark motes he’s been collecting while probably isn’t so much a wildcard is something that surfaces from the back of the mind in uncertain points in the lore.
I can’t remember if it was you or myelin that talked about the key in RoN pointing at the traveler may be a device that requires light and dark to activate and gain us entry into the traveler. I wonder if the dark motes is our fuel supply for the darkness energy. Maybe we have to collect all the jarred up light the lucent hive are sitting on to pair with it.

I think Bungie might take a path where we explore what the nine is in the future, if I remember correctly the nine did play a tiny but important part in the red war that let the Cabal go undetected. I forgot exactly how. But if they do have an interest in meddling in the material realm then I think we could definitely explore what it is.

I doubt it would happen, but I think the return of the factions as a third party wild card, if not as a kind of anti-hero group, would be interesting. They we allowed to just up and leave after season of the splicer, so there's at least a small chance they're still floating around out there somewhere in the system. Plus I really enjoyed the faction system back in D1 and don't want to give up on the idea of them quite yet

Savathun and the Nine could even share a common thread, with "Lucky" Lavinia having learned the "secrets of the Nine" just before being abducted by the Witch Queen. Whatever knowledge the Nine have, it's fair to assume that Savathun shares, at least partly.
As for the Scorn, the one thing that I wish people talked about more is their evolution as a species. When we first met them, they were little more than mindless, blabbering thralls. But as they've progressed, we've seen them evolve into a society of their own. In the Shattered Realms of Season of the Lost, we saw clear evidence of their evolutions in science, engineering, and culture. They're growing not only as a species, but as a culture, and I think Fikrul would gladly encourage this, whereas the Witness clearly would stamp all individuality out. But if the Scorn are allowed to continue to evolve, we may have to have a similar reckoning with them as we did with house Light.

This dude literally predicted the lore of an entire season a while before it came out, that's honestly impressive as all hell.

I doubt Fikrul would have any major impact on the story moving forward- at least nothing beyond him being used as a sort of stepping stone for Crow towards becoming the next Hunter Vanguard.
If the Drifter is apart of the Season of the Deep story, then the Nine will likely be as well. So I guess on that note, we can expect some interesting things to happen soon.
Savathun, enemy of my enemy. She'll probably whip up a neat trick for the Witness soon as we revive her, without realizing the trick was actually for us before it's too late. Then the Final Shape begins.

I absolutely need dialogue to happen between Fikrul, Eido, Mithrax and Eramis holy shit, we need a season where all Eliksni band together, no matter if they're alive or Scorn.

The Nine are definitely gonna be explored in Destiny's next saga, I don't see them having a big impact rn after being in the background/ignored for years.

It'd be pretty fucked if we find her pinned to the wall like people pin Butterflys to pin boards

I feel like Clovis Bray (as in the AI on Europa) is a wildcard as well. I don't see him siding with the Witness. I feel like we haven't seen the last of him yet. His character reminds me a lot of Durandal from Marathon. He seems, much like Savathun, to be only out for himself. If there's some kind of Golden Age tech out there that he can utilise in a bid for acquiring more power, I can see him doing so without hesitation.

The factions who fled after Lakshmi-2’s failed coup are certainly a wild card. Though, If they’re truly following dead orbits plan, they probably aren’t coming back.
