Matt is the funnest drummer to watch play. Just love his style, one of the only drummers that has been able to get drum grooves stuck in my head all day long. And it’s good to see him playing some blast beats, just the right amount of it.

Man as a drummer of going on 30 years and loving all prog music I must say this is Epic. I am a diehard Paiste cymbal player but over the past couple years I have fell in love with Meinls sound. All I am sayin is I'm fixing to convert.
I am a recent fan and am near 60 years old. Was recently introduced to Periphery by a younger guy I work with, I had no prior exposure to "progressive metal", Im a Mettalica, Ozzy, Foo, etc guy. This is a welcome new chapter in my musical experience, and I am absolutley loving this band. Musical complexity and vocals, its just magnetic. This video brings the viewer a bit closer to the band, expertly done but clear and simple. Greatly appreciated!

When this video came out, I was sitting and enjoying it, my father came into my room, and he asked who it was? They have a cool drummer, he said (my father was a drummer in the 80s). And on April 15, my father was gone. He never understood this kind of music, but he always supported me and it was he who helped me when I was 13 years old and bought me my first guitar.
This is what I love seeing! Drummers by themselves is cool and all, but seeing them in context and how they fit in their bands is what is most important and this is BEAUTIFUL!

Spence is a bit sick here. Saw them live two nights in a row in The Netherlands a couple of weeks ago and they're were too fucking intense. This band is so good live. Can't wait to see them again.
Jake's vocals are actually fucking sick. That last take on the "order back in what we know" actually got me hyped up (I knew what to expect on the rest of the song so that was a surprise)
Man, this song is so good. It feels like such a journey. Storytelling at it's finest. You get lost in the up and downs of the heavy sound, and light melodic parts, then the clock ticks 12 minutes into the song, and you're just left wondering how the hell that happen? Barely noticeable. In some ways still feels like a short song. But in reality, perfect length.
Seems like they shot this real early in the morning. That or Spencer didn't have time to warm up. The beginning was real rocky but he got better as the song went on. Amazing work guys!
I think it's the lack of effects they have in the video, it's really hard to sound the way he does in the beginning of Reptile on the album without lots of compression etc but I only noticed that myself when I covered a few of their songs (check it out if you want). In the heavier parts it's not that hard though because the belting compresses your voice on its own..
That's... Usually how he sounds live tho? I mean, he says openly he records his studio performances line by line, not worrying about live, and I think that usually shows in his live performances. I still think what he does live is very impressive, because, well, the studio versions are basically impossible. But he always felt significantly shorter from the studio version than most metal vocalists.

Seems like they shot this real early in the morning. That or Spencer didn't have time to warm up. The beginning was real rocky but he got better as the song went on. Amazing work guys!
I think it's the lack of effects they have in the video, it's really hard to sound the way he does in the beginning of Reptile on the album without lots of compression etc but I only noticed that myself when I covered a few of their songs (check it out if you want). In the heavier parts it's not that hard though because the belting compresses your voice on its own..

I mean, he says openly he records his studio performances line by line, not worrying about live, and I think that usually shows in his live performances. I still think what he does live is very impressive, because, well, the studio versions are basically impossible. But he always felt significantly shorter from the studio version than most metal vocalists.
high possibility, when I saw them live they all seemed primed and ready, it was honestly shocking. this wasn't bad at all tho they did their thing and they did it well
