Hurray...you are going on a cruise! It would be great to see a "T1D out at sea" series or maybe just a packing video as I'm also set to sail next week and know I will forget something. Happy Holidays...a cruise is the best gift for a T1D...but I might be biased.
When i cruise. I pack a month supply of my cgm and pump. 2-3 bottles of insulin. A ton of wipes, both alcohol and removal. Strong adshive covers. I always get a drink package, so I have easy access to drinks for lows and water and walking for highs.
Thanks Andrea. I will be adding some of these items to my wish list for sure. Some items that have made my T1D life better in 2024 that might benefit others are: leggings with side pockets for my phone and low snacks (actually any article of clothing with pockets for all our extra stuff), soft luxurious house slippers to keep precious feet safe and cozy, an air fryer makes veggies taste even yummier, Ultima sticks for hydration on the go. And of course, supportive friends and family are the best of all!
I’m so sorry for your recent diagnosis!!! But I welcome you with open arms to this club of misfit pancreases! Thank you for your kind words about anticipating the video!! That means so much to me!! 💙💙💙
Hi Andrea. Another great holiday gift guide. I’m still using my Dr Martens backpack that you had on one of your gift guides. I swear it’s never going to wear out! And it works well with my sling bag. Both are going to Greece with me in the spring! fYI. I have been following you since we were excited about you reaching 500 subscribers! 💃💃
Happiest Holiday, our Andrea! ❤❤❤I still have my GoStax all over the house. I’m getting Dr Scholl’s asap. I am a sticker crazy person too!! May this be the best year ever for you and David (our dia-buddy)!!
Ahhh Anita!!! So well remembered! I literally just used my GoStax just now because I'm traveling and have my supplement powders in them! I can't wait to hear what you think of the Dr Scholls! I love mine so much it's embarrassing! LOL!!! Thank you so much for these gorgeous wishes - and right back at you!!!!!!!! May this be the best year yet for all of us!!! Big BIG love!!!
My pleasure! Honestly I think it's one of the most helpful things about the Oura Ring - just the power to look and see what my hormones are doing which adds to my ability to make better calculations when it comes to insulin sensitivity or insensitivity as the case often is - especially around period time!! Right there with you my friend!!!
Hi Andrea, I haven't long come home from hospital, had a double hernia opp. All went well in the end. But it made me think of a topic you might like to cover next year, Ketones, as I had an issue, that i didn't understand with ketones. Because you need to fast before an opp. , in my case from midnight, bgl good all night, but shot up when i got up to go to hospital, 13.8 mmol/L , and ketones 0.9 mmol/L, the Anaesthetist said it was too high to put me under, and wanted me to have 110mls apple juice, with some insulin , I thought that was crazy, as my bgl was high. Ended up doing what he said, all ok, but I didn't know that I needed sugar to turn the ketones off. So perhaps some people on your forum , may not understand also . I always knew , if high bgl was for a prolonged time it would give high ketones, but my levels had been good all night. We wish you and David a wonderful holiday and Christmas 🎄
Rex! I'm so sorry to hear about your recent operation!! But I'm so so glad to hear it all went well and you're on the other side of it and recovering! How interesting (but also at the time very stressful I'm sure!) about your ketones! I had a similar thing happen to me when I was eating low carb and got a terrible stomach ache - went to the hospital and had ketones, so had to eat some carbs to bring it down, interestingly enough! I think this is what people doing low carb/keto/atkins type stuff aim for in their diet regime, but for t1d's I think it's rather problematic, though to be honest I don't quite understand the difference between the problematic nature for a t1d as opposed to a normal pancreas person. I will look more into this! Thank you so so so so much for the suggestion! And again, I can't tell you enough how glad I am that you're okay and on the other side and healing!!! This is the best gift of all! 🎅🏻🎁
Hey Andrea. I saw you in a rerun of Homeland the other day and of course I was thinking, She's Diabetic! lol Got me thinking - do you reckon it would be possible to be a CIA agent/something similar with T1 diabetes? I feel like the potential for hypos etc in emergencies would be too compromising a factor for someone who needs to think on their feet and must expect to end up in places they didn't plan to!!
Remember how in one of the family Thanksgiving videos of yours you spotted “some random reindeer” ? Until last year I thought reindeer were mythological flying deer that accompany Santa, not that reindeer were actually a real thing. Thought they were like unicorns (no diapun intended) along with Santa, Tooth Fairy & the Easter Bunny
@@ShesDiabetic hehe I was the one who suggested it. I’m looking at this from a proactive point of view. Wikipedia has your birth year wrong. You were born in 1986 not 1994. I know I’m younger than you at age 34 going on 35 and you’re 2 months away from your 38th
Andrea is an actor, and she's mentioned a few movies and TV shows she's been in, but she's very down-to-earth, and really only talks about her acting career when it's relevant to her diabetes journey. The last time was when she mentioned hiding her insulin pump in her boot while filming Outlander.

The only reason I got myself a Smartwatch was to have my glucose readings at a twist of the wrist. Highly recommend.
Yes!! This!!!
❤❤❤ Hi! Andrea. Happy Thanksgiving! What’s your next movie?
well just ordered a ring for the Mrs..
Now that's a gift that EVERYONE LOVES!!!!!!!!!!!! 😍😍😍😍

I thought the Pump Pops from Sugar Medical were gonna be on this list
That is a good idea! I've not tried them so I can't speak to their quality - but that's a good on for next year!!!

type2.. trying,, but bloody hell its not easy
I mean, at least I can just not eat...
It's not easy no matter what - type 1, type 2 - it all is very challenging indeed!
Can I have the Discount Code for the cure for TD1???
Stem Cell Therapy is on the horizon! The UK is testing this solution with rave results. 2025-2026 could be a game changer for T1D.
LOL!! This comment gave me a chuckle!!!
Also this is amazing to read!!

aww
I swear to god I saw you marrying Porchy on an episode of the Crown 🧐
That would be me, yes! You have an eagle eye!! 👁️🥹🎬
