    I love “what’s in my bag” content! I lost my job in May so was without insurance. Went to Florida for a week in June so didn’t have my Dexcom and pump. Only had insulin and needles and glucose meter along with glucose tabs and snacks/water. I’m back on my Dexcom and pump so can’t imagine packing now! Have fun!
    Your husband is so handsome! Such a cute couple!

I also lost mine earlier this year and it’s been such a nightmare so I really really really feel you on this and am sending you all the love and hugs and support!!! ❤️❤️❤️

    You and I pack almost identically! After 37 years with type 1 I only just started using the emergency pouch with quick to grab pods, etc. and it’s been a game changer. I do take a back pack though with all my supplies with me on the plane as Ive had my luggage lost too many times to take that risk and I always have a bag of gummy candies with me because they work better for me than glucose tabs.
    I also don’t use an ice pack, but I also don’t keep my insulin in the fridge at my destination either so I’m worse! 😂
    Enjoy London, my favorite city in the world! ❤

    Just came back from a 2 and a half week trip from Japan and packing was a whole adventure on its own lol. I do put all my stuff in a carry on especially travelling internationally (too much anxiety to not). Had a backpack that fit everything in, but I did want a separate bag for my quick grabs (set of pump supplies, G7, low snacks, etc). I put those in a zipable tote. I use an insulated bottle to keep my insulin reliably cool. Shorter trips, I forego it. Always hate packing for trips because of all the extra supplies 😅 but that’s just part of the diabetic life. I’ll have to check those snacks out - they look great!

    So thrilled you and David could go to England for this Holiday .
    Love your organisation, certainly would help with stress in worrying about forgetting something.
    I aways worry about that , I pack similarly to you, but don't use a check list, great idea, I will be doing the same.
    Have a wonderful time on your break.

    I used to use a smaller rolling suitcase for my meds if flying. Other travels I use a big backpack I pack supplies based on ability to acquire supplies. When we went to the mountains for a weekend I would pack a lot. When we went to a major city I would be less inclined as I can buy stuff in stores like insulin and strips if needed. I packed in large ziploc bags or in an old Dexcom box or two. Now I have medical bags that I'll use next time I travel. What else depends on where I go but i have charge cords, tablet, phone, etc.

    Interesting that you can have an extra bag with medical supplies. I do not fly a lot but before next time I have to check that out in more detail. Now everything of medical supply for my diabetes go in my hand luggage, but when I can have an extra bag for that, would be welcome. Thanks for sharing that!
    Next flight will be normally in februari when we go with my job to Lapland having safaris with snowmobiles, dogs and rendeers and a lot other activities.

    Hi Andrea. I apologize for the different comments from your UA-cam content. I am a Korean fan of your movies and video games. I am writing this comment to thank you for your dedication on the 10th anniversary of the release of Alien Isolation. As a fan of the Alien franchise movies and video games, I am still enjoying this game and was impressed by your realistic acting and great voice. Many communities are still talking about you and the game you starred in. Of course, in a good way. I'm looking forward to seeing you in a new work again. I believe that you will overcome the diabetes you are currently suffering from. I wish you good health and good luck every day.

    I just got back from a hiking trip through Utah. I relied on my checklist to make sure I didn't forget anything since we were going to be 8 days in the middle of nowhere. I'm talking no stores, no pharmacy, no wifi or cell service. Remote. Since we wouldn't have a frig and some days would be like 95F and I wouldn't have access to ice or any way to freeze an ice pack, I invested in a little mini frig that ran on a battery pack. Best $150 I think I ever spent. It was light, the same size as a water bottle and fit in the side mesh pocket of my backpack and ran on a portable charger that I had that would last 10 hours - sufficient for all day hiking out in nowhere land. The nights we had access to electricity and could plug the frig directly into an outlet via USB and charge the battery for the next day. Since we wouldn't have access to anything, in case the frig failed, my backup plan was a Frio bag that would have kept it room temp but I really wanted my extra insulin vials to stay frig temp if I could so they would last longer if I didn't end up using them. I didn't end up using the Frio bag. Also since I couldn't rely on where we were going, I took all my diabetes supplies in my carry-on in case my checked bag got lost. It just gave me better peace of mind. It certainly makes a difference if your destination is somewhere you have access to a frig!

    British airports are generally fine in my experience. They're very understanding and sympathetic.
    Amsterdam Schiphol, on the other hand, is a bad joke. Strip search in a private room just to see the coin-sized lump attached to my leg... My Libre 2 that was clearly big enough to bring down a jet liner!

    • @robynwilliams5928
      @robynwilliams5928 3 місяці тому

      @@Atrus999 yes I’ve calibrated numerous times. And it works for a bit and then gives wonky readings again. But I’m switching from the G6 to the G7 so hopefully that works better. Dexcom sent me a new transmitter(little grey thing) and still got wonky readings. I’d say I get accurate readings about 70 percent of the time with the transmitter I currently have. But I think it is just a bad batch of transmitters. The sensors have never given me a problem, but for the last 3-4 months I’ve had issues with the transmitters.

    I have a concern and a question when it comes to Insulin vials.
    I personally am allergic to Latex. I remember back in the day as a child at around age 12 when I was still doing growth hormone injections there was at least one injection that had a hive cuz the rubber stopper apparently had Latex.
    In the Diabetes world have you heard from any Diabuddies who have had to face this concern?
    P.S. I’m 4ft 8in now but without years of growth hormone shots every night
    I would be only 3ft tall

      Oh that's such a good point, and so interesting about you Marina! Thank you so much for sharing this!! It's amazing that you've gotten that height!! So awesome!! You're small - but mighty!!! Mighty awesome might I add!
      I've not heard of this issue specifically from other diabuddies - but honestly where there's autoimmune there's...fire? LOL! No but seriously it wouldn't surprise me at all if others have this allergy, because so many allergies and insensitivities seem to appear alongside autoimmune conditions. That's just my two cents!

    • @marinakiell1069
      @marinakiell1069 2 місяці тому

      @@ShesDiabetic I’ve had so many surgeries as a baby and as a kid that my Latex allergy came from overexposure, if you will, with latex gloves not autoimmune, I don’t think. What should I do? I’m not diabetic as of 2024 at age 34 but I know that it could be inevitable for some since I know LADA or T1.5D is becoming more prevalent these days. This latex on vial bottles is a concern to me.
      PS yeah, I feel like a kid when I stand next to 6ft tall people and I’m an adult lol

      @@marinakiell1069 are you talking about the pink thing on the insulin vial she showed? 🤔 if so, that's a cover she added to protect the vial, not something that normally comes on it. there's virtually no direct contact with any latex/rubber when dealing with insulin, whether that be vials + syringes, pens + needle tips, pumps, etc... so I would try not to worry about it, if I was you. ❤

    I don’t believe in the “Subtract the Fiber” either. I think that you need to Include all the carbs to get all the insulin you need especially since I hear that other nutrients in what you’re eating could interfere and block insulin if you will such as protein sometimes, I’ve heard.
