  • **Please note, I no longer use and cannot recommend Dixie Belle Paint products due to highly questionable business practices, contract violations, and unethical treatment of artists and retailers that led to mine and numerous others resignations in late 2021. Please see the links below for more information. I have chosen to leave this video content up for learning purposes only, but highly recommend considering other products when trying to achieve these same techniques. There are too many good product brands on the market to support a brand with these practices. I've included links to my most used options below

Good Morning Brandy! I must say that I’m subscribed to your channel and I love your work! I have to share this with you. While watching this series AGAIN (yes I’ve watched it several times) something finally clicked. BRUSHES matter! I don’t know why it took so long to click with me but I watched 2 of 4 last night to see what I was missing about blending and sure enough it was the brush. I have all those fancy round “chalk” paint brushes but I also have a couple of 2” synthetic brushes and as I watched you on the 2nd part I thought I should try this on a piece I started working on yesterday. AND Oh EM GEE the blending was flawless. I just can’t thank you enough and I wished that there was a series on brushes. I would love to purchase DB brushes but I wanted to get better at painting before I make the investment. If you find time a series on the DB brushes would be great for all of us amateurs. Love your stuff - love your channel!

Such a great tutorial on shading with waxes!! And I just got that blue sponge so the tip to use it damp is 🙌🙌🙌!! Question- when you put another clear coat on top of the black wax will it pull up any of that wax? How long do you let the wax dry before adding another top coat?

You truly inspire me so much (out of all the "UA-camrs" that do the same thing). Your so thorough w/ your technique & the do's & dont's, very humble & have an adorable family (God Bless You alll. I'm trying to work at home full time doing light woodworking projects( I already started with making Blanket Ladders & small Shelves etc...simple stuff. I'm stocking equipment & tools slowly but surely. I've also refurbished a few pieces of furniture as you do & sold them(that was exciting & motivating as well). I'm just afraid of failure. I have an old Mahogany Desk that I'd like to send you a pic of in hopes to get your opinion on what to do with it. It's for my hubby & he loves Black Chalk paint with Gold Leafing. Is it possible to get your opinion? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR WORK! If so, where do I send you a pic to get your opinion. Is like to surprise him for his birthday which is about 2 months away. Thanks in Advance...One of your biggest fans in South Florida...I heard you say you were coming to Florida for 2wks on your V-Day video date, lol...

I love these tutorials - but really wish the quality was higher - it is really difficult to see the effect as you do it. Would you consider repeating a blending tutorial with the purples? The one with the floral transfers is the most beautiful piece of furniture I have ever seen.

Hey Brandy, did.you go back and darken the Yankee Blue portion in between the 2nd and 3rd videos? In the 2nd video, the colors looked much more muted contrast between the colors then there is now. I like it more this way being able to see that there are 3 different colors but I'm trying to figure out when that happened...I love this finish and would love to use these colors but do like a bit more of a contrast as it is now as opposed to the look we saw at the end of the last video. Did you do a 3rd (2nd of the current colors) coat??? Or is this just the way it dried?

Thank you so much for your amazing beautiful pieces and for sharing your knowledge and insights. You are so generous and giving. I want to buy from your Amazon store and could not find it when I searched on Amazon by your name Brushed By Brandy. Can you post a link here on You Tube or Instagram? Thank you!

Do you think this technique would look good on a more modern dresser/nightstands? The set doesn't have the details that your piece has, in fact it has very straight lines.

Yes, shading is a great way to add dimension to flat front pieces

What do you recommend for unfinished wood or wood that has been stained but unsealed prior to applying chalk paint?

Dixie belle boss, its an odor and stain blocking primer. Two coats to keep tannins from bleeding through to your paint
