Quality is sometimes subtle. This piece with its dark theme does not shout at you. But upon closer examination it’s creative quality sings. It’s a piece one could live with and happily smile at for many years. Bravo!

Watched from the beginning. I love the ebony stain and have written it down (as something I could stain my sewing chest that I use as a nightstand). I think the way you displayed the table is perfect for showcasing it in a reading nook where only one table is needed. Not everything is better in pairs…just ask a single person 😂♥️

I absolutely adore how you transformed this piece, Andy! How lucky you are that the water didn’t get inside. The combination of the black color and stunning decoupage paper gives it a sophisticated appearance that can surely be showcased on its own. No need for two. The drawer pulls caught my attention too, especially without the backs. I think I like them off.
However, I cannot help but think that BIF wants some company. It would be great if he finds the courage to ask her out! It was so good to see him again!
Nonetheless, he may need to tuck in that hair that's spilling out of his shirt. It can be quite a distraction.

I am definitely not a decoupage person but I do love darker wood. With the decoupage you picked out which are darker colors and then the black paint and the black stain I really like this piece now. I think it looks great.

I never thought to give a mid modern table a dark and moody makeover, it works! Love the decoupage shade goes so well too,and the hardware tweak was brilliant and the way you saved the backplates and nails inside Ill use that idea:) Glad to see your hubby embracing Biff and letting him shine so to speak..

I love that paper. I love the ebony stain on the center top. I love the painted border. Putting the back plate on the inside of the drawer is genius because you won’t lose them AND you don’t have to replace the screws! I’m going to use that trick. The “pecan” finish on that traditional transitional 1960s style of furniture is what I grew up with in my parents’ house. My mother loved it. I actually always disliked it. The speckles looked like fly poop marks and it had this weird olive green undertone on the stain. I always loved the shape and details on that style and I have several pieces in my home that are refurbished and embellished. I think your table looks amazing and I think your husband is a true hero for being on a ladder holding the tripod!🌸

I was sceptical when I saw the dark paper, but it turned out beautifully. I really like the reduced pulls. (I wouldn’t have thought of taking them apart.)

Your water logged friend went from brown and boring to tuxedo ready for anything! I love the paint finish, the stain and refinished pulls but the cherry on top was that paper. Wow! It really made the piece unique. Great job!

Nice to see Biff again, such a sweetheart, as well as Painterly. I agree with you about trying your best to salvage something damaged, especially if it is your own fault. Generally not a fan of paper on furniture but I really like this piece, the paper is beautiful but subtle and blends well with the dark paint, also like the darker stained top. I think I prefer the back piece of the drawer pulls on the front of the drawers, to me the handles don't look quite complete without them. Overall it is a very elegant looking piece.

This is stunning. Moody. The ebony stain on top is a bit dark for my taste but the black is the perfect black. A good, rich black is perfect.

Wow this is maybe my favorite piece yet! That decoupage paper is everything! I love the clean black lines with the beautiful paper and pulls. You never cease to impress me with your masterpieces! I would say this would be a perfect table to set in a library or home office with a antique lamp on it.

I loved this refinish. The paper is gorgeous and goes so well with the paint and stain. The hardware looks more modern without the back plate. Good choice. And, did you ever remind Biff to come in from the rain…?

I know the rule of thumb is to paint white behind a decoupage paper but the darker result of painting black behind it turned out to be perfect for this piece. It's a wee stunner.

WOW again!!! The putting all together, decoupage, stain and paint it is a WOW ! Single side table is always needed next to a chair in a library, reading nook or endless ideas. Good to leave off the backplates to the pulls too.

I have a piece that I may use this color scheme on, I have a sewing/guest room that is light grey and this would be perfect in there. I also think placing the plates on the interior was genius.
