"A spade is made for diggin' dirt and an axe is made for choppin'. Darlin', my heart's hard as nails they hammer in a hardwood coffin." That is one of my all-time favorite lyrics. So badass and ominous, while having an incredible groove in the delivery.
These guys are absolutely F***** amazing! True country, folk, rock, bluegrass, etc! Storytelling in music is a lost art form and these guys do it flawlessly!
There's good red dirt country out there. Check out Paul Cauthen "Holy Ghost Fire live performance". And "cocaine country dancing" He turns people into fans.
So glad Evan and Staci are back together and have a child now. Awesome. Really praying for his continued sobriety and that this band can get back together at some point. Their music is all such top quality stuff.
Just heard this song for the first time ever on the radio in August 2024… imagine my surprise to come here and find out it’s so old, uploaded here on UA-cam 12 years ago! Oh my.
Turnpike Troubadours, you guys are the real deal! We up here in New York are loving your Country music. If you want to come up North, we got plenty of room for good folks like you.
I was also privileged enough to see them open for Corb Lund, at Flames Central in Calgary. Definitely my two favourite modern country bands...both are just awesome to witness in person.
Haven’t watched this video in several years and I forgot how good it is. The way it’s shot, the dusty dance hall, the classic farmhouse, the fields…it all has a poor country fairytale feel that really resonates with me. The actors are great. Would love to know who they are.
@@JamieLinWilsonLive That is so funny. I came back to this video just to confirm this fact. I saw your UA-cam video of Anyhow I Love You. Then googled you to see what else was out there. In a magazine article was a photo of you and your husband. I instantly thought that's the dude from the Turnpike Troubadours video. Small world, and your music is great!
@@JamieLinWilsonLiveI know this is an old video and old comment but I still think it's awesome you are in the comment section! And I had no idea that was your husband!
A few years ago, I had just met a lovely red haired lady who took me to see these guys play at The District, in Sioux Falls, SD. I’d only heard of them in passing before. Anyhow, they were ON POINT that night, and it was a really fun show. Great band, and I really hope they get back to it, because not many can put a show like that on. Anyhow, if you happen to read this, Pretty Redhead, thanks, and I still smile thinking about that one...
Reno Nevada checking in... just got tickets to the show in May at Red Rocks. 2 Tickets = $450 Train Tickets = $536 Hotel for 2 Nights = $270 Seeing your favorite band that you thought may never play again for the first time? = Priceless And way cheaper than the therapist I would have needed had they not been making music, so win win
Good lord, Turnpike Troubadours are so good. Their new album is so well written and what great musicianship. The ceiling is so high for these guys. Thank the good lord above for bringing them to my attention a few years back. They have made life better for so many of us. Thanks guys and keep it up.
Seen these guys in Challis Idaho twice, at the Braun Bros. Reunion. The first year I wasn't that impressed but it was the first time I heard them, 2 years later, Holy Shit! They ROCKED the Mountains! I heard they lost a band member and were splitting up but someone from another band was maybe going to take his place.?? I hope they find someone quick and get back to it! I love their Country/Folk style and the Lyrics to almost every song is awesome! Just can't get enough Turnpike now! Great Band great style!
Lead singer Evan Felker took time off to get control of his addiction. Just said he is better and ready to get back to work. Hope we see new music soon.
Watched them play at Durant Friday night, and I have to say I'm pretty much addicted to them. I love how they sound exactly the same in concert as they do on their records. Amazing musicians!
Discovered these guys Friday night in Philly, opening for Luke Combs. Definitely a fan now. How did i never hear these guys before? So terrific. Had no idea they’d been around for over a decade!
@jjlax7 I know I'm not the same guy, but Reckless Kelly, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Mission Mountain Wood Band, Midland, Zach Bryan, Jason Isbell, Flatland Cavalry, Watchouse, and Nickel Creek are some good bands/artists. Ian Munsick has some good songs, too.
My parent in laws loved this song... i lost my mother in law passed away a couple of weeks ago and every time I hear it i think of all of us sitting in the living room listening to this... ☹☹☹
Not only is this an awesome song and an awesome band, but this is one of the coolest videos I've ever seen. Why do people not know this band, yet they know all the words to red solo cup?
