For the new people please check out their other stuff. Bird Hunters and Good Lord Lorrie are great songs to start with. Also, this is the best live show I’ve ever seen.
@@phishermanjohn shirts aren't always accurate. Besides, putting 'southern rock band with a mix of country' wouldn't be cool. But let's be honest: Broken window serenade, Virginia, Road of life, Lonely E Tx nights, and Nobody knows her name are country tunes.
One of the coolest things to me is seeing the progression of that old Gibson. I go back and watch a video of Even playing Good Lord Lorrie alone from 12 years ago with the same guitar, nice and pristine, and now to see it well played with the finish coming off. It’s really cool to see the progression of instruments along with the artist.
Great to see the boys back together. This brings back so many memories having lived in Texas and seeing them live. I’m in the Midwest now, and if anyone asks about the music I listen to, I’ll tell them about red dirt, and I’ll play this song to start. These boys defined the genre and are still true to their roots. Tipping my hat to you gents from Indiana.

But y’all have no idea I don’t think of the people you reach and how deep. You people are Country music. You people are Americana music. You people.. are music. Well said Jeremy. As someone born and raised in the Texas/Oklahoma region I do believe these guys are the absolute best, their music makes me feel at home wherever I may be.

Love this song fellas. When people say country is dead I say no it's not, you're just looking in the wrong place. Country still lives through bands like the Turnpike Troubadours.
That line, “no ring of gold around your finger, no ring of brass through my nose” and “that mean old sun better rise up soon if it’s ever gonna set on me”. Not sure where the writing inspiration came from but smokes this song is 🔥 .
Empty promises I've given Hollow heart beats in my chest And every word of sterling silver Stirred butterflies beneath your breast Still untouched by ties a-binding Going where the gulf breeze blows No ring of gold around your finger No ring of brass run through my nose Headlong for the wall now honey Still coming up like a rose Dead still in the garden Waiting for the reveille And the dawn is yet to dry the dew from off my Sunday clothes That mean old sun better rise up soon if its ever gonna set on me Hear the song she sang in darkness Tearful, fair, and free and fine You're the one she softly whispers My canary in the mine Headlong for the wall now honey Still coming up like a rose Dead still in the garden Waiting for the reveille And the dawn is yet to dry the dew from off my Sunday clothes That mean old sun better rise up soon if its ever gonna set on me I met a man, pale gray with wisdom Showed me faith will come collect Hard tempered steel bites at my ankles Soft cotton rove burns at my neck Headlong for the wall now honey Still coming up like a rose Dead still in the garden Waiting for the reveille And the dawn is yet to dry the dew from off my Sunday clothes That mean old sun better rise up soon if its ever gonna set on me That mean old sun better rise up soon if its ever gonna set on me
Something I really like about this song is that there’s so much depth to it. It’s not 1 dimensional where it sounds flat. The choice of instruments is great
I remember my old band “Hot Rod Bob” playing a Halloween show called “Freaker’s ball” with TPT back in the day @ Cain’s Ballroom. We both played the Bob’s side stage. After watching their performance, I knew they were destined for bigger things. Super friendly & hard working bunch of guys! Evan’s a hell of a musician! Also watched him show up to a small casino one night. He joined Corb Lund on stage & killled it! #WRD #Casino #Claremore #Oklahoma
Insaw them at Gruene Hall qnd The Coleman Texas rodeo. Fantastic time. Its not for everybody, it is for me. Either way undeniably talented. Great musicians. Cocaks are haunting.
I love this song and can't wait to hear more! Authentic, original music from Oklahoma better than anything from Nashville or anywhere else. I've been listening since the 2007 original album release. You guys are awesome! Take care of yourselves and stay true.
I've been a red dirt fan from WV ever since I heard my first Charlie Robison song. For some reason I missed the Troubadors early on. I listened to a lot of CCR, Reckless Kelly, Micky, Jason Boland, Stony Larue. When this album came out it became my favorite album. Going back and listen to their other music, how did I miss these guys? Keep in mind. There's not a red dirt presence in WV. You have to search and find this music. All that said. What an amazing album from the first note to the last. It's kind of cool now to have all their previous albums open up to me. It's like I'm getting all this "new" music. I love it all.

And every word of sterling silver
Stirred butterflies beneath your breast
Still untouched by ties a-binding
Going where the gulf breeze blows
No ring of gold around your finger

Still coming up like a rose
Dead still in the garden
Waiting for the reveille
And the dawn is yet to dry the dew from off my Sunday clothes
That mean old sun better rise up soon if its ever gonna set on me
Hear the song she sang in darkness
Tearful, fair, and free and fine
You're the one she softly whispers
My canary in the mine
Headlong for the wall now honey
Still coming up like a rose
Dead still in the garden
Waiting for the reveille
And the dawn is yet to dry the dew from off my Sunday clothes
That mean old sun better rise up soon if its ever gonna set on me
I met a man, pale gray with wisdom
Showed me faith will come collect
Hard tempered steel bites at my ankles
Soft cotton rove burns at my neck
Headlong for the wall now honey
Still coming up like a rose
Dead still in the garden
Waiting for the reveille
And the dawn is yet to dry the dew from off my Sunday clothes
That mean old sun better rise up soon if its ever gonna set on me
