Cassie Ventura dropped a staggering lawsuit accusing Sean Combs of sexual assault, human trafficking, harassment, assault, and more. The allegations were shocking to some, and confirmation of suspicions to others. Combs' attorney was quick to accuse Cassie Ventura of seeking a payday and of previously attempting to blackmail Combs for 30 million. Based on the strong denial from Combs's attorney, it was shocking when news of the lawsuit settling came just 24 hours after the filing of the lawsuit.

This lawsuit gives me the ick in so many ways. The speed with which it was settled makes me think Combs didn’t want discovery to happen. I hope Ms. Ventura is doing well.

The fact that he didn't take it to court says something for me about his guilt after Depp v Heard. The door for pushing back against allegations in court is more open in public opinion, so chosing to settle is poignant.

@@chrisweldon9215 Rubbish. Diddy is a wealthy man who can afford to fight these allegations if he wanted to, especially considering how damaging the claims are to his brand. He isn't some poor schmuck going against the big bad system. Stop wielding race as a shield and making excuses for bad behaviour where the accused has now paid tens of millions to hide rather than fight.
The amount of people who could have stopped this in its tracks, but stayed silent, either out of fear or because Diddy pays people, is just sickening. This lawsuit might end it for Cassie but it leaves Diddy out there in the world to continue using and abusing women. Every single one of his "friends" know what he is like, yet they remain silent. I hope and pray that some day he is sitting in a jail cell next to R. Kelly.

@@heatherskeen3566Lie. Her lawyer took down Weinstein, if it wasn't solid he wouldn't even care about that case. There's a picture of her face bruised on the internet. People testified that Kim Porter went through the same. Including his former bodyguard Gene Deal in his latest interview with "The Art of Dialogue". People on YT speculated she was a s4x sl4ve years before those allegations because you could tell she was being controlled. Her own husband was hired by Diddit as her fitness coach and he helped her escape. There's no doubt she went through this. Diddit settled real quick when he could have ruined her financially.
Unlike in the Depp/Heard case, there are multiple women suing Diddy. Depp had nobody in his past coming claiming abuse. Men and women both are confirming Cassie's claims. Nobody but Amber and her sister in Depp's case. Cassie sued Diddy to bring the abuse out in the open and make him accountable. Depp sued Amber to expose her lies about the abuse and make her accountable. Night and day.
I understand her. She has kids, who would want those videos, pictures and events rehashed in court for years, to get the same compensation she's getting now.. Him?.. Who SETTLES TO RAPE AND SEX TRAFFICKING having the resources to go to court? In 24h? Not even a Defamation lawsuit? That screams guilty and scared.
It has been more than 30 years since I left an abusive relationship and I still have some PTSD hold over from it. It never goes away. You just have to work through it and try to live life.

Wishing Cassie peace. We all know every word here is TRUTH. Puffy has been sued multiple times and has never settled. Suddenly, it is settling in 2.7 seconds? Also admitting to offering 30 million . . . Discovery would have him in jail.
Really? No. None of us know how much is true. And how much isn’t. I’m getting tired it talking about these cases b/c nobody judges these cases on their own merits. People either go into the camp of all women lie regardless of evidence or blindly believing every women.
Hés the original R Kelly case but he pd enough dues to NY powers to stay out of the light. From boys, women, underage allegations, drugs, guns, and $ holding he's thick in Mudd.

I heard from a friend that was a videographer for Diddy, that the dude never sleeps and expects everyone to be up with him partying or whatever else activity he feels like engaging in at that moment. I can totally believe the man is addicted to ecstasy or a host of other substances.
He belongs in prison not just for this crime. But for every other criminal activity he’s been involved with throughout the years. He’s beyond shady he’s a control freak.
I truly think that Combs and lawyers didn’t believe Cassie would go through with the lawsuit, even at the last hour. I believe that’s why it was settled so quickly - Combs’s team were taken aback. I’m not a lawyer, but a layperson, and this could be an inaccurate read.
I think they probably did try and settle and she stood her ground. Said no and then they had to agree with what she wanted.

Check out @natalielawyerchick analysis. She has a similar theory, that he had the chance to settle before but probably didn't believe she would go through and didn't expect public opinion to believe her. He miscalculated the impact.
Another layperson here. She let him know several months in advanced for some reason, giving him an ultimatum.
However that gave him time to put things together to deal with it which could very well be how he was able to "swoop in" and end it so quickly.
I think you’re right. I think he called her bluff because this is embarrassing for her, I’m sure, though I don’t think she has anything to be ashamed of. Once he saw she filed, and provided all of those details, he knew he had to cut this off as quickly as possible.
What’s funny to me is that, while I knew about the east coast/west coast feud, I never thought of Diddy as dangerous. I always thought he was *pretending* to be a “serious gangster”, but never would have believed him capable. 😅

He settled so quickly because he thought she'd be too ashamed to file the complaint and lay out all the details. He was hoping shame would keep her quiet and called her bluff. Once she filed it he knew he had to settle because the longer this stays a topic of discussion the more details would have to be revealed. Also, the financial discovery alone could have ruined his life and all of his businesses.
Thank you Emily for covering this case. When it happened, all I could think is what you would say about it. I read it and it was both shocking as well as triggering to me as a child who witnessed DV. Self care law nerds.

This settlement tells me he's hiding some EPSTEIN levels of dirt! HE'S SCARED! Not only people immediately started to corroborate Cassie's stories, but there's old allegations he has a sex trafficking operation providing for rich famous people.

Cassie was not a minor at the time she was offered the contract but her ambition to get to the top (by any means necessary) blindsided her to the pitfalls. Cassie is not a victim
@@a.p4066 NOTHING excuses being abused the way she was. A misguided choice is not invitation to be assaulted/abused. A naked person in the street isn't asking to be groped. A child behaving poorly isn't asking to be abused. No matter how vulnerable a person is (or makes themselves), the abuser is _always_ wrong for abusing someone. You're trying to excuse abuse. Why?

The quickness in which he settled knowing he has the money to fight this in court tells me that he did what she said he did
I strongly feel she did this now for a reason. She may know something else. I hope her settlement includes security staff.
It puts it in the public record. Diddy can pay any dollar amount to silence her. But it can not silence the filing. That is for the world to see and know now. All the settlement does is save Cassie from the emotional trauma of a court case. But every detail she outlined is now part of the public record and Diddy cant pay for it to go away. I'm personally proud of Cassie. I pray for her continued safety and that of her family

Another attorney stated the settlement was reached in 19 hrs. That's insane! I believe every word she said about him.
if you don't like 'american' gravy, try 'european' one: in your turkey pan, put chunks of celery, tomato, carrot, onion and bell peppers in chicken or veggie stock to roast with your turkey. When the turkey is done, scoop them out into a blender and puree with some of the stock. Voila, a nice sauce to go with your dinner, and the remaining stock and un-blended veggies make a great soup for the days after

These allegations sound so much more authentic. I'm happy she got a settlement, but I also would've liked to see this get more publicity so others realize these things did happen and may still happen if no one stops abusers. But I understand when real victims of abuse don't want to relive the trauma via media attention. Best wishes for her and her new, better relationship/family.
My question is. As someone that when I was a child when through abuse how can I prove, bring my perpetrator to justice if I don’t have prove this happened just my own testimony and recollection of this crime. There was nobody there to witness and I was afraid to talk about it. Even if there was an opportunity to bring this AH in front of a judge I would have no way of ever winning 😢
I'm sooooo sorry you experienced that 😔. Many areas (states, territories, etc) have a statute of limitations on pressing charges for any form of abuse. Depending on how much time has passed, the legal system may have their hands tied. Even without an eyewitness, cases of abuse can still be proven. Maybe your school or doctor saw signs that were never reported to authorities. Possibly someone in your immediate family or circle of friends had suspicions because you were behaving differently. Contact a lawyer in your area who specializes in this type of case and get their input. I wish the best for you and hope that you're on the path to healing and peace ❤

Defamation suit HE would have to prove she is lying. Diddy, ALL his family/friends and business parnters would be investigated. Things can come out in court he and his companies don't want to be public.

Do your research before making the investment. It’s not a good product for a lot of reasons. Plenty of videos on it and scientific research backing up the refutations of the product. Much better off getting a compost bin!
