I was trying to Rewatch over on Nick's channel just to get his perspective of Ben King Finding Depp's finger But Hell O those grown men who were his guests were so rude and laughing about Ben & making fun of him I had to leave. They thought being their kind of "funny" made them sound good, All It Did Was Make Them Ass*s. It was awful, I couldn't hear what Mr. King was saying! No respect for a Man Who Worked for The Queen. No Respect for his testimony. They will never have a Ben King. Being horribly mean because you think it's funny to the point of disturbing testimony makes you petty. I will never subscribe to any of them. Those I had subscribed to I went directly to unsubscribe. Thank Goodness Emily doesn't have a bunch of juvenile sounding men on here.

@@Go-Dawgs If they made him into some stuffy caricature with whatever they said it’s because they weren’t listening! Ben was humble and gracious, not too good for anything he got asked to do by this couple & their staff hence why he ended up in this case. He seems like a very sophisticated gentleman and it seems like they just didn’t know how to handle that! That’s awful because I’ve otherwise never heard anybody say anything bad about Ben King. Hurts my heart a little!
Too bad for them that they probably missed Ben was one of the more key witnesses for the physical evidence in this case, so I would have just listened if I wanted more of the facts of the case. Emily was entertaining and educating, and clearly that channel decided to go a different direction.

Bringing back a recording I remembered hearing about towards the beginning, but one I forgot about that until Miss Vasquez brought it back at the tail end. as someone who has bpd, I completely understand where Amber is coming from and her intentions when she says she wants to resolve things instead of running away from the issue. Unfortunately she doesn't understand that she's unwell and doesn't know how to communicate properly which is why they end up back in this cycle.
Johnny is doing the proper thing. When I'm triggered like that, I stop myself from behaving this way by walking away and reseting for a couple hours. If I'm too blinded by my rage, I have asked my parter to remind me to walk away until we can communicate properly. So he was 100% correct in wanting to do that. But again, she doesn't seem to understand that that needs to be done in order to be able to resolve things. It's sad hearing this, I hope she gets the help she very obviously needs.
I would also like to add that before I knew I had bpd, I acted very similar to the way she does (without the physical violence) and I will agree with her when she says that him just walking away when she's triggered will make things worse. Since she doesn't have the proper tools to be able to de escalate the situation herself, or even understand that what she's doing is wrong, walking away will further trigger her abandonment issues. It takes a lot to realize that the way you behave is toxic. And it takes a lot of work to be able to handle bpd.
And of course, the bpd isn't an excuse and she should face the consequences of her actions.

I have little bit sympathy for those statements because I was in an abusive relationship where my partner did drugs and tried to hide it from me. He beat me and gaslight me. We never had normal conversations, everything was arguing all the time because I was so traumatized and he was high and defensive.
Anyway, I hated when he left in the middle of the argument. It felt like he just dropped all this shit in my lap, said something shocking or rude and when I tried to make sense of it all, he'd said that I'd make him feel stressed and he needed to leave because I was being so negative or hysterical.
I felt like there was ants inside my skin, I felt so uncomfortable because all those unresolved issues were buzzing inside my head and I got no resolution until he came back, which was the next day after drinking all night, or worse, he might disappear on a bender.
I'm in healthy relationship now but we never really fight so much that the other person needs to take break or get some distance, so I don't really know how it looks in a healthy relationship. If my husband said he needed few hours to clear his head I don't think I would have a problem with that. I could get a trigger response and feel that fear of abandonment, but I don't think so. I'm pretty well adjusted, nightmares are quite rare at this point.
But AH and JD were in a toxic relationship, JD did drugs so maybe Amber really felt like JD just leaves him when she's most vulnerable. She claimed that he says he just needs few minutes but it's always more than that... so does he just disappear? And for how long?
Also, if your partner is vulnerable, scared, crying... isn't it a little bit cold to just up and leave? Like you could reassure them at least that you care about their well-being even if you're in a fight right now.
That being said, it does feel like AH is using this "please don't leave me" as a manipulation tactic, but I also can give her the benefit of a doubt and say that there can be huge fear of abandonment, and it can feel really cruel if JD always leaves her in the middle of the fight, especially if he just leaves for hours or days!

It doesn't get more circular than that. AH wants JD to stay and 'argue', but JD hates how the arguments tend to get physical on her part. She skirts the issue by only wanting to talk about the arguments (verbal) rather than address the physicality. In short, he's a bad guy for not staying despite the obvious discomfort, and any attempt to address what causes the discomfort is avoided. There's basically no way for him to get to any kind of resolution. On and on it goes. Oh, and the supposedly 'abused' is maintaining the circle to trap their 'abuser', who is just trying to address the physicality of the arguments for everyone's benefit.
Multiply those arguments, injuries and addiction over the course of years and it becomes easy to understand why JD testified to feeling like he was going insane.

I myself have my own issues as well and both my spouse and i had a talk before we got married to take responsibility for our own actions regardless of the cause. We support each other and help each other get help when it is needed however, we do not use our mental health as an excuse to treat each other poorly.

I'm probably late to this, but I believe the whole "COUCH" thing was her telling him to get out and sleep on the couch. Then when she said, "I've given you three couches" that was her saying "I've said it three times, don't make me say it again". Like she was warning him that things were going to go down if she had to say it again. I grew up in a household where if my moms wanted us in our rooms, instant transmission style, she would say it in this similar fashion. Like "Room! Room! Room! I done said it three times now, it won't be a fourth". That meant that if she even had to take a breath to say it a fourth time, we were going to get an ear full more 😅

The description on her arms that Ben is giving sound very much like what someone who self harms/cuts looks like as they’re usually fairly uniform, spaced like Ben described, & not jagged at all. I would think that if she sustained them in a physical altercation with JD, that uniform would not apply. The pictures later were hard to see, but forearms are the most common place for people who self harm to cut.
I say this as a licensed psychotherapist who has worked w/ many clients over the years who have self-harmed. A large number of those clients have significant abandonment issues.

So much of Ben King's actions and thoughts are informed by having worked for the British royals.
Some people might be sceptical of whether Ben would be able to know the room in which somebody was moving around, if they were on the floor above him. He would absolutely know this, because it would be his job to know the layout of all the rooms and where people were.
The British upper-classes don't generally want to see their household staff - it would be the norm for the butler to silently appear and disappear. To do that, the butler needs to know where they are. He'd also know the difference in footsteps. His ear is trained to be able to pick up all sorts of things most of us would ignore.
When he moved on to other service (for regular people), this would still hold true, because some of them would want that "royal-style" service.
The royals wouldn't tend to chat with the staff, for sure. That's one of the things Princess Diana got into trouble for - hanging out with the servants, it just wasn't done. The poor woman would sometimes go to the kitchen and peel a few potatoes just to feel normal (according to Diana and one of her closest friends).
Ben would be used to knowing what was required without being told, which he'd pick up very very quickly. If he noticed Johnny had a favourite chair, he'd fluff up the cushions on said chair and put the morning paper next to it, as an example. He'd set the lights or temperature to the way he noticed Amber liked it, with her favourite kind of book within easy reach.
His standards would have been very high - in palace dining, there can't be a fork placed at the wrong angle. Think of the precision of our ceremonies in Britain, like the Changing of the Guard. The Palace needs to run like clockwork.
Like you said when he named Jerry Judge, he'd know everybody's name. Guests in the palaces changed all the time, and they'd be expected to remember after being told once. He has to have a phenomenal memory to do the job he does.
I loved the testimony from Ben. What a sweet guy.

Rewatching this after watching Amber’s testimony. Johnny’s recollections seem way more genuine. The only thing I think he ever downplays is how much he drinks. I think he’s embarrassed about it honestly, not even the drugs so much. It’s the drinking he can’t seem to admit is a bit out of control. Still the way he talks to her is always very calm. You can tell the audio they have of him yelling is like him at his last straw where she’s just pushed and pushed. He clearly takes his aggression out on inanimate objects and I think maybe he does have a destructive side, but because of suffering abuse as a child he just focuses his anger at anything but a person.

Emily, it is so wonderful to hear your comments, from the legal point of view, during this trial. I really feel for JD, AH has been very abusive. She has a history of violence in her past as well. I can only imagine how difficult, and at times, shameful that he is having to put his most private parts of life on the world stage. A person truly being abused DOES NOT antagonize the abuser, they want to do anything to avoid a confrontation! JD told her when he was going to record her, she recorded him without telling him. I don't understand why her secret recordings were allowed with the way the law is in the state that this is being tried. Both these people have flaws, don't we all, but my opinion, AH is one very disturbed and volatile person that needs some serious intervention.
