Issue with the fanning the hammer automatic .44 animation in fallout 4 is that it doesnt have third person animations so you just BRRRT all the bullets out with no anims to match (Also it breaks if you get any reanimations)
Considering that .38 might be the most common ammunition in Fallout 4, it's a real shame that there is no .38 revolver in the game besides the Pipe Revolver. A .38 single or double action would be a decent early-game alternative to the 10mm.
The scoped .44 revolvers in Fallout 3 are an homage to The Road Warrior aka Mad Max 2 from 1981. The main villain Lord Humungous carries one as his personal weapon.
Which is funny, considering that Lord Humungus’s scoped revolver was actually a Model 57, chambred in the sadly forgotten .41 Magnum, which was intended to replace the .44 as a more powerful, flatter shooting and softer recoiling round for Police Use.. but thanks to films like Dirty Harry, the.44 magnum regained its popularity and overshadowed its younger cousin, which was swiftly forgotten.
Most people credit the spread of 0451 to it having been the door code at Looking Glass Studios. People who worked there worked on all the games mentioned and many more where the code was also used including Fallout 4. There's even an achievement in Deathloop for trying the code on locked doors. It would be cool if Hanlon gave you the rank of Ranger in the NCR(if you didn’t turn him in). Then he gave you a free Ranger Sequoia & non-disguise ranger coat. I believe one of the FO3 nods is also a nod to Snake Plissken because he uses Scoped magnums in Escape from LA (terrible movie) and the character on the alien ship wore a jacket with the same designed snake that Plissken has on his stomach.
The "Casull" is actually modeled after the Freedom Arms model 73, the first production .454 Casull revolver on the market. Also .454 Casull is far more powerful than .44 Magnum. .454 Casull has more energy at 100 yards than .44 Magnum does at the muzzle.

Personally I think the Mistress of Mystery and Miss Fortune could be related thru plot like wouldn't it be cool if Miss Fortune was on of the students of the Mistress of Mystery???
From a realism standpoint it makes sense why the 44. can’t fan the hammer. Fanning the hammer comes from when single action revolvers were the only option but even then it was only used as trick to entertain people. Fanning wouldn’t work if the revolver was a double action because the cylinder will only rotate as the trigger is pulled. So you’d basically just be trying to shoot the same spent cartridge. But it’s the fallout universe so logic is nonexistent so it still could be a thing all things considered
Well, that depends on the double action. Most double actions I know of can be used as single actions because their cylinders rotate when the hammer is cocked, doesn't matter how it is cocked. Of course, there is no shortage of double action-only revolvers either. And you would normally be doing it to increase trigger sensitivity and improve accuracy.
@@hanzzel6086 all I know is when I tried fanning my double action it wouldn’t work. That maybe because of the revolver I have (a 357 Smith and Wesson that can shoot double and single action) but I’m sure the cylinder wouldn’t rotate unless the trigger was actually squeezed and released, but I only tried it with the an empty cylinder and dummy rounds but I doubt anything different will happen with live rounds.
I recently came accross this channel while trying to figure out if I want to join BoS, Institute or the Railroad. I gotta say it's the best thing to listen to, kind of like a podcast, while roaming the wastelands.
Maybe they didn't include the suppressor for the police revolver as, outside of a small handful of exceptions, revolvers can't effectively use one due to the gap in between the cylinder and the barrel
For the .44 magnum that Paulsen gives you, it might be using a round type called duplex (which a round in which two bullets are loaded into the round and split apart from each other after exiting the barrel). A fallout 4 mod called Combined arms had them as an option for ammo type in the weapons workbench for the weapons that mod added.
Thanks to these vids i bpuggt and played through all games (that are still available, not doing what i did with Elder scrolls) and even got into 76 lol
Well as RATM once said, "revolva!' Bro I just got to the end and I can't believe that was 40 min. I was making a coffee and watering my plants while listening and it just flew by like a .44 slug
My favourite revolver I've gotten in Fallout 4 was a Western Revolver with the Explosive Legendary effect that dropped from one of the Bloodworms in Dry Rock Gulch in Nuka World. One of the few times I've gotten a Legendary item that perfectly fits the build I was using, as I had both the Gunslinger and Demolition Expert perks! Good times.
I was struck by that date mentioned for the black powder pistol, so I had to check. But yeah a single shot percussion cap pistol would be a little archaic for 1850. Black powder weapon would make sense for a post apocalypse, though. They're easier to create, and the ammunition can be crafted with nothing more than some molds and a campfire, as opposed to requiring special presses for brass-cased ammo. There was a show about an apocalypse that wiped out all electronic technology and the main authority used muskets, because they could make them and reload them without needing electrically-powered machines. More modern guns did exist, but the ammunition was hard to find, since no new ammo could be made. There was one scene where a rebel with a modern sniper rifle was really cleaning house on some of the authority soldiers, until he ran out of the 10 or 15 rounds he had.
Electricity is not strictly needed at any stage of the reloading process though. Everything necessary for a modern cartridge can be machined/produced without powered machinery, and even if it couldn't be then percussion cap revolvers and breech-load rifles would be the logical fallback well before muskets lol
Those 20 marks, or should I say 1 and 19 more on Gunther's Big Iron is probably a reference to Marty Williams song Big Iron. The number of marks Texas Red had on his gun.
Yes, that glitch with fortunes revolver- with the limbs going into a different dimension, I saw that once and was completely freaked out. It looked cursed af.
When the .44 Magnum cartridge was first designed, it was the most powerful pistol cartridge in the world, but it has since been surpassed by larger cartridges such as .50 AE and .500 S&W
I just got Fallout Tactics after seeing it become a darling. And it would see not knowing much about actual firearms is something of a longstanding tradition in this series. I've come to appreciate it
In fo76 the blunderbuss can be found at prickets fort in a display case, although static world items and weapons are 1st come 1st serve per server (easy work around is a fo1st private server) and the Ranger Sequoia in foNV becomes absurdly common if you gain too much ncr infamy, like literally every other fast travel near an ncr patrol or base spawns a death squad specifically for little old you lol after lvl 16 at least 1 squad member usually always has 1 plus a handful of 45/70 gov. rounds 👍 I appreciate your content, BEHOLD THE POWER OF ATOM

I always thought Dry Rock Gulch was supposed to be a guided tour type of event and Ike duels an employee tour guide instead of a guest
The casull revolver is prolly based on the Freedom Arms Model 83 Field
Definitely
Thank you king of the rads for this sermon.
I recently came accross this channel while trying to figure out if I want to join BoS, Institute or the Railroad. I gotta say it's the best thing to listen to, kind of like a podcast, while roaming the wastelands.
38:58 the 45 round is based off 45 ACP which is not used in revolvers but is used in the M1 Thompson and Colt m1911
Fallout 3's scoped magnum is a reference to Mad Max 2 and the gun Lord Humungus uses.
I use revolvers almost exclusively on FO76
Always good seeing Darkel, a distinguished specimen who helped me when I started on FO76 🙏🏻
One thing to note the scope on the 3 revolver is a mad max reference
respectfully the pronunciation of halving at 13:24 is killing me. i’ve never heard some one say it haLLving
33:21 Fun fact- I got a legendary model from a ghoul in Kiddie Kingdom before I even set foot in Dry gulch
8:35 It could also be snake shot.
20:35 - "Truth is... The game was rigged from the start"
20:49 The Early Retirement. This revolver is nice and all but I wander why Bethesda didn't add the .223 pistol or 5.56mm pistol instead.
because the CC addon was a house mod, the revolver was a cute unique but all the custom modeling work went into the house.
Easier and cheaper to reskin an existing model than to add a new gun complete with the proper animations.
Don't ask Bethesda, ask the modder who made it (Bloodmeat08, according to the wiki)
Wild Bill Hickok
Well as RATM once said, "revolva!'
Bro I just got to the end and I can't believe that was 40 min. I was making a coffee and watering my plants while listening and it just flew by like a .44 slug
I like to believe since Paulson’s ammo is so old and has been frozen so long that it’s falling apart as it’s fired
Love hearing the dark choir music from the Nucleus in the intro.
Good times.
Is that FDR in the radio sound with the geiger sound.
Snarf, I've asked a few times now.
Love your videos bro thank you
32:00 Just want to point out that currently, Ruger does offer a Super Blackhawk single action revolver in .454 Casull
Have you done a video on melee weapons video???
Those 20 marks, or should I say 1 and 19 more on Gunther's Big Iron is probably a reference to Marty Williams song Big Iron. The number of marks Texas Red had on his gun.
I have a feeling Radking might cover Fallout 2d20 at one point or another.
Just in time for bed ♥ Will give this a second listen tomorrow too :3
Yes, that glitch with fortunes revolver- with the limbs going into a different dimension, I saw that once and was completely freaked out. It looked cursed af.
the magnum research bfr was actually only chambered in rifle cartridges not handgun cartridges
Aw yes a revolver, the most reliable shooten iron you can have.
Easy maintenance too
Pleeeaasseee do a video over the oceans of fallout if you can!
The Casull in Tactics is either a Magnum Research BFR or (less likely IMO) a Freedom Arms model 83.
When the .44 Magnum cartridge was first designed, it was the most powerful pistol cartridge in the world, but it has since been surpassed by larger cartridges such as .50 AE and .500 S&W
What about the Blackhawk .44 that you get from Agathas song quest?
perfect upload timing, was just about to paint some warhammer
I just got Fallout Tactics after seeing it become a darling. And it would see not knowing much about actual firearms is something of a longstanding tradition in this series. I've come to appreciate it
Great video
In fo76 the blunderbuss can be found at prickets fort in a display case, although static world items and weapons are 1st come 1st serve per server (easy work around is a fo1st private server) and the Ranger Sequoia in foNV becomes absurdly common if you gain too much ncr infamy, like literally every other fast travel near an ncr patrol or base spawns a death squad specifically for little old you lol after lvl 16 at least 1 squad member usually always has 1 plus a handful of 45/70 gov. rounds 👍 I appreciate your content, BEHOLD THE POWER OF ATOM
