I was so sick and tired of walking up and turn the lights off when I was going to bed, or starting to fall asleep. This just makes it so much more convenient. Yes its just for a lamp, but still, it's amazing.
that adapter das not work, I got 8 of them for my remote mining farm and looses connection to them all the time. It is 100mbps fiber on both sites so it is not connection problem. Initially to install them is not so hard but every time I log in to the account it looses some( 50%) of them. Redid the entire setup countless time to the same end. Eventually complained to the local suppliers for TP Link and one of the support guys told me under secret that allot of people have similar problem and if I want to return them it is not a problem. For single or max 4 unit application maybe works but 5+ is nightmare.
Don't buy TP-LINK to use with Google Home. My TP-Link devices only works through the Kasa app or through the Google Assistant that's on my phone. It don't work using Google Home or in routines. Only 3% of the time it works. .
The TP Link Smart HS110 plug has some added functionality, such as being able to see the power draw from whatever you have plugged into it, and this is done through the Kasa app. You can also see a readout by month or year of how much power a device uses. However, I'm not clear on the range of functions available through Google Home/Assistant. Is Google Home only good for telling something you have plugged into a smart plug to turn off or turn on? Can you tell your Google Home Mini speaker to turn the kitchen light on for 10 minutes, or to turn the kitchen light on at 9PM and turn it off at 9:30PM? Can you ask it questions like, "Hey Google, how much power is the kitchen light drawing?" Since prices are dropping on these things, the power draw feature might make this thing worth the money for me, even if it is something you can do only through the app. However being able to do it through Google Home would be very convenient. Anyone can answer this if they know.

Thanks for your opinion. I ordered it before you replied, or I might have reconsidered. Good to know about the routines. At least it turns off and on fine using voice on Google Home. I like being able to view the power draw on various devices using the Kasa app. One thing I've read about them though, you have to be careful when it is connected to anything with a high power draw. Even when measuring, just measure the power draw for ten seconds or so on high wattage things. As far as power draw, my computer speakers are good sounding but since they don't have an on/off switch, and sometimes I forget to turn off the power strip I have them on, I've wondered how much power I was wasting. They only take 2 watts when on and when in use at the volume I use, only 3 watts. If you crank up the volume high, they can get near 10 watts. It is my TV that has the big vampire draw of 5 watts in the smart mode (quick start on Vizio) and only one-third watt in the stupid mode (eco mode).
@@PhillyDjHook Then you might know a similar device wich does dim the lights, since you are so superior. Nowhere i've read, it states that it cannot dim the lights. If i would have wanted it to just turn the light off and on, i could buy a generic one from whatever company, thats why a asked in first place.
@@jackholman17 Thanks for the tip Jack! :) I'm using Lifx in all my lights, except one designerlamp, thats where i need a wifi dimmer. Unfortunately it seems impossible to find a dimmer which does not require a hub, and are compatable with Google Home..

I use on aquarium lights, aquarium pumps, garden lights, pond lights, gazebo lights either with programmed schedules or use of sunet timer
Nice review Andrew. What an awesome inexpensive controller. I want one, two or maybe three 😀
I use it to control a window AC unit. It's great to turn it on remotely to help cool the house down 30 minutes before I get home.
Good review. Thankyou.

Have you tried the TP Link Tapo P100 yet, I have just got 13 of these plugs?
i would love to pair this outlet with a smart thermostat (also paired and controled by google home) to set a temp and let it run automatically
That would be cool

This model is a socket hog. It takes up both plugs. Get the newer model which only takes up only socket and you can use the ogher socket

Hi.
the model is HS100?
ye the title says
can I use any outlet to turn on the light
if u use that plug or something similar ye
Hey, can you dim the lights with this device? Thanks
You tell me. If it only turn the power, on and off, do you think it can dim the light? Now I want you to think on that long and hard.

Hi Andrew. is a oil filled heater better than a ceramic or infrared?
All electric heaters are the same efficiency. The oil just acts as a buffer for a smoother change in temperature.
