Thanks so much on the TP link smart plug. We switched internet providers and I tried several sites to figure out how to reset. Your instructions worked perfectly! I’m a fan!!
Love the walk through on setting up these smart plugs. I use smart plugs and smart bulbs in my smart home setup. There are so many smart plugs these days, which ones do you recommend?
All my stuff works well on the home network. I have internet and wifi working fine. Both 2.4 and 5.0 are working fine. "Add a device" doesn't work. When on the Add a Smart Plug page, I press Smart Plug/Lite, all I get is a message that says "No Internet .. Make sure that your router is functioning properly and that you have a strong signal" and a green RESCAN button that doesn't do anything.
Excellent tutorial. I was able to set up my first plug easily following your steps, however when I try to set up a second plug, it disconnects the first plug from my wi-fi. You obviously don't have this problem. Please help if you can. thx
Sir. That's good video very detail And very comprehensive. And i just bought one. But Question. How to use smart plug to control with other electric stuff. Like coffee maker, teakettle, Ricemaker, humidifier thing like that. It look like smart plug only work on things like light (No operation needed stuff) Cause other stuff when you plug in or even turn on you need press some button or switch otherwise just turn on and no running. Please give me some idea so smart plug can be use more efficient
Great question. Appliances either have mechanical or electric switches. Mechanical switches are those that actually have a physical switch (called either a toggle or rocker switch) that you have to flip from one side to the other. An example would be a traditional light switch on the wall. Electrical switches have nothing to toggle but looks more like a button you push. An electrical switch has no "on" or "off" position like a mechanical switch. Typically, all the appliances that have a mechanical switch can be controlled using smart technology. I hope that helped.
In the Kasa app you can see runtime of the plug or bulb. It breaks runtime down by past 30 days, past 7 days and also current hours within the last 24 hours. This Kasa plug does not show energy consumption, but the Kasa light bulbs do.
I use smart plugs to control my Chameleon Terrarium lights, while Im out and running late. If my Chameleon's lights stay on past night, his Acadia rhythm gets thrown outta wack and causes him anxiety; which can kill him.
If you lose power will the Kasa switch retain the WiFi connection once power is regained? I want to locate one in my attic and don't want to build in a headache I have to reset. Great video,,,,,, well presented.
I’m trying to turn my tv on fully with this but it’s just turn the light on on the plug and the tv but it won’t turn the tv on fully so where I can see my tv show
Great question. Smart plugs should be able to turn on and off your TV, but some TV's might still require you to hit the ON button on your TV remote. What type of smart plug are you using for the TV?
Sometimes the plugs setup and are recognized by wifi easy or sometimes you have to setup manually and possibly scan a QR code, etc.. Which plug are you trying to setup? Remember, always connect to a 2.4Ghz wireless network, not 5G.
Yes, that's one of the main benefits here of the Nest Thermostat. You can control them on smartphones and tablets either in or out of your home. The App is very easy to setup and I use the App about 95% of the time to manage and control the Nest Thermostat.
I tried everything and could not get the plugs to pair... FIX: I had to go in to my modem settings and set my wifi channel to same as the smart plug (ch6) and it paired right up.
You can use the Amazon Alexa app on your smartphone to control them while you're away from the house. Is that what you meant or are you looking for another technology to control lights while away from home?
@@SmartHomeMojo I'm looking for a non alexa/google home app that will work for these. Something that doesn't require a home assistant if that makes sense.
Yes, just use the Kasa app, it allows you to toggle your smart plug on and off no matter where ever you are. Your phone doesn't have to be connected to the same wifi. You can be a thousand miles away and it will work. I just tried it with my 5G phone with WIFI. As long as you have WIFI in your house you are 👍.
@@gtorres1719 You're 100% correct. I just tested out a kasa smart plug, and it worked within app. No hub required. Now i'm waiting for a dimmable smart bulb to arrive. Fingers crossed for that. Off topic but nice 1 oz coin in your photo lol.
I've never tried from computer, always the Kasa App on my smartphone. At a quick glance, there are two Apps for PC (Win) that I saw that would allow you to do that. Control for Kasa Smart ($4.99) and TP-Link Smart Plug Utility ($.99) looks like they both can control Kasa smart devices from PC.
Thank you so much for this! Your instructions were the only thing that made sense and now I have all my Christmas lights connected!

Finally got my enbrighten plug connected! Thank you!

Wonderful explanation. Tried other sites and was unable to connect my new smart plug. Your explanations worked great. Thank you VERY much!!!
Glad it helped

Glad it helped!
Oh my gosh your video was so easy and helpful I did it along with you. Thank you so much.
Great video, Thanks; When I saw the Christmas tree, I thought you will show how one can set up the timer on it...hmmm
I still can't get my minnie plugs to work!

I believe all smart plugs connect to the 2.4GHz network, not 5.0. Make sure you are connecting to the 2.4 network. Let me know if that worked.
Can groups be scheduled to turn on and off at specified times, or just on/off control as you showed?
thank you very much was great to set up mi device with you better impoosible
Best thing instructional video.
The Kasa app makes it simple to set a schedule. flood light on at 4am when the cats want out, off again when its light out.
This video was very thorough and I like the images you put to the right.
Thanks for the comment and visiting the channel!
Great Information. Thanks!

I kept deleting and reinstalling the plug. On my 5th or 6th try, it finally worked. I now have both plugs operating in a group.
I always use the AP Mode to setup plugs and it seems to work better for my on all smart apps. What mode did you use?
If you connect the TV to the smart plug does it work?
Very well done, thank you
Many thanks!

Does this plug offer energy consumption monitoring via the alexa app or the kasa app?

Awesome use case for smart plugs and smart home tech!
How many watts does it use while is off on average?
Thanks
Is there’s a price for the app and is there’s a monthly payment?

Of course, when the power is restored, the TP-Link plug will automatically connect to wifi.
Does this work this apple’s home kit app?
Kasa EP25 smart plug support Apple homekit app
Will this work for ac?

Coming soon!

Any idea how to set up the router with a smart wifi plug to initiate reboot when the internet becomes erratic ?
You can use the smart plug to set a timer to restart the router. I now restart the router at three o'clock every night.
I’m having a hard time finding “tp link” to connect to network in the wifi setting. It’s not showing up there even
How many can you add to your group?

i have numerous tp link wall switches and plugs , what garbage , replaced them with Wemo and problem solved
I had Kasa set up on another email and it address. I have moved and want to set up Kasa in my new house.
The plug turns off the tv with voice but doesn't turn it on?
