Hey thanks for the review! Do you know if I can turn off two lights at once? For example, if I had 2 TP Links, with 2 different lights attached to each one. Could I tell Amazon Alexa to turn off both lights? Or I have to do it one at a time. Thanks!!
+Sam Pai You can have them both turn off at the same time. You just need to set up a group in the Alexa app for the two of them. Fight now o have a light and fan in a group called master bedroom. I just tell Alexa turn either turn that o or off and both plugs do in kind.
Also, since you seem like an expert, is there a way to send notifications to your phone every time you ask Alexa to make a reminder to do.... I have the echo dot 3 btw
+Sam Pai I have not done anything like that myself. However it does would like something you would be able to do using (if this then that) an app you can get for your phone.
I understand there's a lot of products out there that look very similar but the brains are operated by different companies. Also having tested several different plugs myself my smartphone have drawer is full of all sorts of different apps to control them.
You can but it would be more then scheduling 2-3 events. You would have to schedule the start time and then schedule the off time for each event. So you would be looking at scheduling 6 events. It can be done but it is a little cumbersome.
For the set up you will need the app. But if you also have something like a google home or amazon echo you could use your voice to control it. In that case you would not need the app. As long as you don't want to turn things on and off when you are not home.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews yeah i want to use it to restrict power/so my heater doesnt burn down the house if i forget to turn it off haha... thanks for the reply mate
can you clear up one thing for me, im confused about the different networks. is the intention to connect the device to your home broadband? or that the mobile phone in my case can see the plugs wifi?
The plug needs to be attached to your home Wifi network in order of it to be interacted with. The mobile app is how the plug is controlled. You will not see the plug listed on your network as a device normally. Does that help?
No it needs the internet connection in order to work. The most you would be able to do is turn it off. After that you would need to press the button on the switch to turn it back on. Kind of defeats the purpose.
@@Sinisterchilll This one could turn on and off a TV, but if you are looking for something smaller I would suggest: ua-cam.com/video/KVHzC8O9Clo/v-deo.html. If you were looking to control your full entertainment center I would go with: ua-cam.com/video/tn3QWata4ZA/v-deo.html.
For six months all went well. Then one day all of my Echo devices were telling me that either the Plug's power was off or out of wifi range. Strangely the WiFI light was on and not blinking. I reset the device and now the light is forever blinking even inches for the modem. Disappointed.
+Rhino If you take it back to your place and hook it up that will let you check if the firmware needs updating. I have done this with a few things that my parents have had issues with.
This works with WiFi not Bluetooth. However, using the app on a smart phone you can connect to it from anywhere you have data with your phone. As long as your homes WiFi is up.
@@journeymusic No plug will be on the same WiFi network as your computer. If you set the plug up to connect to the app then you can control it from anywhere.
What an absolute scam by TP-Link. Absolutely NO mention on the packaging that this device will not work on the increasingly common 5ghz wi-fi routers. Just bought an expensive paper weight! Have to sell it on ebay. What a pain.

This was a review for a TP link smart plug, not a WeMo smart plug. Making references to another device dose not help inform about what the video was about the TP Link plug. I have also reviewed the equivalent WeMo smart plug (ua-cam.com/video/3dCPNHuPwwk/v-deo.html) and done a comparison video of the two (ua-cam.com/video/9SUV6Fxtsw4/v-deo.html).
Great review! I have this plugged into a power strip and then I plugged my lamp into the smart plug and it works great.
Thanks for this video. Finally managed to reconnect the smart plug!! Information on TP link site does not explain adequately how to connect.:-(
Thanks for the review! Can you please tell me if the device can keep programmed schedule running if there is no internet/wifi connection?
It can, I have checked with the smaller version of the plug to make sure.

You can create groups in the mass app. Give the group a name and tell Alexa to turn on or off that group. Works brill :)
I have what looks almost the same made by ECO. Would you know if the TP link unit runs also on the ECO app for android.
Doubtful.
@@Wanderer001_Reviews OK, thanks, It becomes a problem with mixing these devices that do the same job but require different apps.

I have a drop down projector screen I will like Alexa to control that with the tp link do you thing the projector will roll down and up using tp link
I do not. The Tp link will only turn on and off the power. It will not control actions like rolling down a projection screen.
If this is connected to a output with a dimmable lamp, will i be able to dim up and down in addition to turning it on and off ?
No this plug is purely to power something on or off.
Can i schedules 2-3 events using kasa app ? for example i want my device to turn on for 15 mins thrice a day at specific times.

Does the plug pause the timer or stop or restart in a situation where there’s power cut daily?
The plug timer would stay in place if the power is cut and comes back. It remembers what you programed.
Wanderer001 so the timer pause when there power cut and then it continues with the timer when the power comes back.
@@Ore2474 If the power goes off during a timer, once power returns it will know where it left off. So you will not miss any time or have extra time.

Wanderer001 , thank you for your info,
If you have the Tp-Link plug On and you have a power outage in what state will the Tp-Link plug be when the power comes back on? Thank you!
It will return to an on state once power is returned.
Nice review!
So lets say I want my fan and lamp to be connected to my tp-link do I have to buy two tp-link or just one?
If you want them both to be turned on and off at the same time just one. If not you will need two.
ok Thank You
does the same thin apply to turning on or off tv and lights
Yes.
you can use an extension cable
What is the max watts that it can take to avoid this to burn out?
+Miguel Miramontes 1.8kw
Can you control the plug from different smart phones?
As long as you have the Kasa app installed and logged into the same account.

It will need wifi in order to pair with a Google home.
Just my normal Wi-Fi?
Yes
I can’t get mine to connect I’m upset do you have a support email? My WIfi sucks though

Yes it can work with both alexa and google assistant.
can I turn on a PC from a sleep mode? or will it work only if the PC is completely off
It would not be able to do sleep mode.
Why does it allow a heater to use 1500W and not a coffee maker at 800W?
That is a very good question, I really have no idea.
Maybe to much amp draw
Is it underwater proof 🤔
No it is not waterproof.

can this turn off and on lights and tvs?
Yes it can.
can u have only one and multiple lights turn on?

17$ now in usa Michigan
$20 in Canada
$24 Australia
£15 for two, just ordered
