"So on to the bedroom and bathroom" 4:51 *completely distracted viewer* "OMG LOOK AT THE PUPPY ALL TUCKED IN WITH HIS PAWS HANGING OUT OF THE COVERS" 🥰🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ok ! So first thing I did was watch your video to see your cute pup. Then I watched it again to LEARN about the Smart Plug!.. You are 👍 great. You have taught me more than any other . And you are SMART to use your puppy to get me learning.. THANKS BUNCHES .😉
Hello, great video. I'm in the process of installing smart lights in my home that can be voiced controlled via Google Home but I have one major problem. The kitchen lights use tube light bulbs. I don't believe that there are smart tube light bulbs on the market yet, is that correct? I was able to attach a smart plug to the ceiling, however my girlfriend (who lives with me) isn't very good with technology so she'd like the option to flip the old light switch - which is an option for smart lights, but smart plugs don't turn on the lights at the flip of the light switch. At least I haven't been able to figure it out. If you have a solution/suggestion, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
This was my first video of yours that I have watched. Absolutely top shelf! Thank you. Very useful stuff as I prepare to outfit my aging parents home with some things to make their lives easier.
I like the way you explain everything and I love the way that you included your dog on the video!!! I could tell that your dog is smarter than the product you are showing. Thanks
that dog just kills me...following you up and down the stairs...in the bed and dressing so proper as your assistant. Ill have to watch this again bc I couldnt pay attention...thanks! bc its a rainy dismal day in Boston!
As almost everyone has stated your dogs a show stealer, I was listening to you and the info was registering but my eyes were on the dog, which I really found entertaining to watch. He or she deserves a "scooby doo snack". Well structured and edited video clip.
Beware all: plugging something in won’t necessarily turn it on. My humidifier for example, once plugged in, will be ready to be turned on but it won’t start humidifying. There needs to be a manual on/off button for that to work.
Your dog seems so wise and like he's listening to everything your explaining...good listener! Haha great video so informative and useful. Full of ideas for smart plugs! 😍👍Thanks
Hey there! I had a question that I can't figure out is about using the plugs. Most of my devices require me to hit the power button, my dehumidifier, coffee pot, monitor, things like that. While yes I can turn off or on the power supplied to that unit, it will not turn on the device. Do you or have any ideas for this?
Thanks for the tutorial and the entertainment. Good content and info. I learned a lot and I was trippin' off your dog the whole time. And, that look he gave you when you said his entire role was just to help you live in your house? Like: "What the hell??? Shhht, you must be crazy. They're only here because of me."
1st thing your dog 🐕 is adorable 🥰:D other thinkg 💭 you just made me realise I need this plug and gift 💝 it to my mum as she always messages me after leaving for work to ask me to go to her room and check if you unplugged her straightener or iron !! Also for a Christmas 🎄 tree as the plug is always behind this huge tree we got and it’s a pain to get there and turn on/off and the entertainment system absolutely needs it too as there is 7 things connected to extension cable and it’s never turned off so satellite tv and Xbox get overheated and we end up with huge electric bill
Do you have an updated version of this Intro to Smart Plugs video? I'm looking to buy my first smart plugs but is it as straightforward as operating them through an app or do I need something like Alexa which I do not have. Thanks!
Thanks for the info. I purchased 2 from Amazon, for very low prices, with other electronics but I dont know what to do with them. Now I have ideas what not to waste their usefulness on! Thank you! Awesomely adorable doggo, btw!
I am having issues with trying to use the smart plug with my mother's electric blanket. I have not been able to make it work. I love what you had in your video and so I think you have the expertise Im looking for. Thank you for the great video.
I may suggest it could be because electric blankets have on/off switch as well as levels of power (lowest heat to highest heat) and some have a timer that you can set AND/OR the blanket itself has a non-adjustable timer that turns the blanket heat off after so many hours. The smart plug may be interfering with that process.
How nice of your co-host to dress for the occasion. I'm very confused but I'm going to go watch more of your videos to learn more. I just want some plant lights to go on and off at the same time every day so I don't know if a smart plug is the way to go or not. Thank for an informative (and entertaining -> co-host) video.
I am interested in the smart products which is why I found your channel but the reason that I subscribed was because of the darn dog. I kept waiting for him to take over the review.
Aaron: He's entire role is just to help... me leave in my house. 9:25 Monty The Ho (Dog): *Eyes on Aaron* "me leave in my house"?? I do more then that. I'm the eyes of this house, I take care of the house, I'm security. I'm your SmartDog! He's so adorable thanks for sharing.
I'm a newbie to using smart plugs, can you please tell me how you set up your humidifier in your bedroom, please? Only I have a homepod and a smart plug but can't set 1 up to come on and turn off at certain times during the night time. Also, what is the Ethernet socket on the smart plug for. Paul
They seem like they would be handy but at about $50 I don’t believe they would pay for themselves just off phantom draw any time soon. If we assume an item draws 2 watts phantom power (fairly standard for a tv) and does it 24/7 then it uses about 17kwh per year which costs only about a dollar or 2 here in Ontario, depending on time of use. It seems to be reasonable to estimate it at $1 per watt year, so you’d need about 100w of phantom power draw if you wanted to break even after 1 year and have your plug on for 12 hours and off for 12. 100w is a lot more phantom power than you’d likely have. As such I think it’s really just for convenience in most cases and not really that cost effective (at least not unless significantly cheaper ones come out)
Replying to a year old comment, but also the smart plug itself isn’t free in electricity use. In tests it tends to run around 1W so while you are cutting the electricity use in half, you aren’t getting rid of it entirely. The ability to shut down big electric drawing items on a timer seems like the best case for managing the total draw, but even that you could do with a dumb timer switch.
So basically, anything with a plug/adapter that you plug into a socket, and which that is operated normally can now be controlled with a smartphone or Google Home or even Alexa. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks for the video if you have a smart plug on a tv and turn off the tv how much will it cost to run the smart plug or is it cheaper to leave the tv on standby?
I subscribed. The problem I've had with smart plugs is that wifi has 2 bands: 2.4 and 5.0? I can never get them to work. I have dual band here in my apartment. I wish you had discussed this. THanks!
That dog is every thing. He's just sitting there like he has something to say. So cute...
The way he raises his eyebrows while listening lol
