    Thank you. If you every do a "what to do in this situation" video I like many have a hard time figuring out what I should do to counter someone at a higher energy level such as being above me. Please keep making excellent content like this. I am going to play my Pasta F-4 now.

    My man just an absolute top tier WT video. Tons of work I am sure but the results are world class bravo. As for the long dogfight in the US 109 I loved it. Those late game positional struggles are a blast. You can tell a lot about a player by their moves to get into position. I could wait another year for a Fw-190 A4 version ;)

      Fw 190 A4 will be added to the list (love me a butcher bird). I'll probably put up another poll.

    From my personal experience, the mg151 damage is highly dependent from an angle you hit the enemy from. If your target is running away, and you hit its tail/back edge of its wings, the damage would be abysmal. If you are in a dogfight and hit the wing surface, you deal a lot of damage. This trend is true for all 20mm canons, but is especially noticeable for German ones.
    Again, that's just my experience, but this trend seems to be consistent throughout many years and gun changes

      I’d have to re-watch the montages of kills in the video but just based off memory of me editing that video - I think you are 100% correct. Big explosions came from the deflection shots. The ‘hits’ come from high angle / rear shots.

    how do you counter someone who keeps going vertical in a 109?

    • @hav3nWT
      @hav3nWT  Місяць тому

      Depends on so much - In general if they are above you eventually they’ll have to come down to shoot you. That’s your chance to tangle them up and beat them.

      @@hav3nWT so then they always get the first shot and chance to get on my 6? if i'm on their 6 in a p51, and they go straight up, do i dive? do i start turning?
      thanks btw

      @@jal-kx6tm Hey bud, you're not asking me but here I am sticking my nose in! If a 109 dives on you try to stay directly under him. What I mean is to make his angle so steep that he either has to break off before tearing his wings off or that he passes you at such speed that he has a fraction of a second to get a shot off. Then if you can separate and reset. Don't dive away from a 109 that has his nose on you and a higher energy state get right under him. If you are unfamiliar with energy states I am happy to help explain. It is everything in prop fighting. For your second question, if I'm in a P-51 chasing a 109 and he zoom climbs I'm going to angle away at least 90 degrees and dive away to gain separation. I am not going to take the bait and chase him up to a stall. A 109 is the best handling prop in the game at stall speed. Or at least one of the best. This coming from a 109 fan. A spaded P-51 is a rocket in a shallow-ish dive and retains great straight line speed. Or depending on his angle you can do a split S and dive out to the opposite direction. I don't mean to patronize as you may know all of this but anytime you're not in a superior position in any prop fight and have the opportunity to gain separation then just gain separation. It's a reset button. One thing I have learned the hard way in Air RB is to be patient. Anyhoo, happy flying!

      @@The_Kinadian_Kid thanks for the detailed answer, yeah i'm still learning but i knew a lot of that but i still appreciate it.
      so i guess if i'm chasing a 109 and he just goes vertical, he gets to reset at will? i've been turning in a lot of these situations and i just get shot up when he comes back down with more energy. diving away is the only thing that seems to not get me shot up but i'm basically giving away my advantage just because he goes vertical.

      @@jal-kx6tm yeah you wont have control of the fight in a p51 never take a fight up in a fight against a 109 you will always lose you can out turn the 109 at high speeds so you need to take the fight down by baiting him keep under him as stated above if he breaks off to climb then you can try to get a shot but dont follow if you cant hit him right away or he will have you if he sticks the fight you should be able to reverse him using downward rolling scissors with your flaps

    the 109 f-4 is the best109 in my opinion i would always pick it if i were going up against any other 109 the earlier versions might be more maneuverable but not a huge amount and have weaker engines the late models are just too heavy reducing your options this is a great guide i fully agree altitude is key as long as you are above the enemy you have a huge advantage i would that when facing anything like a yak3 the key to winning the fight is knowing when to engage and you have to be aggressive while knowing when to disengage over all the 109 f-4 is more than capable of killing anything you will face but you really need to put some time in flying it to get the experience to know what type of fight to use against any given opponent
