@@keales9564 Chinese parsley is basically cilantro. Culantro is different. It’s a good substitute for culantro if you can’t get it. But if you want culantro here in Hawaii you need to source the seeds and grow it yourself.

@@keales9564 I have ordered Culantro seeds from Kitazawa Seed Company and Cilantro seeds from Burpee Seeds. I must admit the Culantro is easier for me to grow then Cilantro so I usually just buy Cilantro in stores. To answer your question Culantro is not Portuguese Parsley. Just Google (images) and look at pictures so you can see how different it looks. Hope this helps.

I watched a woman on TV who looks like me, who has curly hair like me, make it on to a top level show like that and was amaze. You felt like family to me. I felt like I was watching my cousin on TV. You make me want to cook more traditional dishes. My mom passed before I really had my family and started cooking for them, so she didn't get to pass down some of those traditional dishes, or tricks, or even get to cook with her. YOU INSPIRE ME! Not puertorican,,, I made pernil with sofrito from UA-cam recipes,,,, husband loved the pernil, just today he was asking if there was any left, god bless his soul, I even added olives wich he hates,,,no dude, it's frozen, i will make pasteles with it for siblings reunion... But I made lots of red and green softito, l will cook with it eventually but not anytime soon... Good cook going to waste and I love it like that.

When you me mentioned culantro/recao and aji dulce I knew you knew what you were talking about. Those are the ingredients I use in abundance in my sofrito. I’ve stopped using red and green peppers and use just aji dulce instead when making my sofrito.

Hi I’ve never added olive oil to my sofrito is it really necessary? Sometimes I freeze my sofrito I have a ice cube tray just for my sofrito and I freeze them. I double bag them in ziplock freezer bags and they always taste fresh.

Its labeled as "Chinese Parsley" in some stores here in Hawaii. It looks just like Italian Parsley, be careful Cilantro has that beautiful scent.

Put it on steak, chicken dishes. Look up Puerto Rican pork stew. Sofrito is mostly a base to stew like dishes.

1:20 Ají dulce doesn’t look like cubanelle peppers, they look like habanero peppers. So unless you’re making “hot” sofrito, beware!
