All of these! Can't believe you found pasteles in LA! They're a lot of work to make! Tell Monica he doesn't have to cook, la suegra will teach her! And imagine pan de elote made with coconut milk!
As a Mexican who has lived around PRs for 2 decades now (in NYC and now FL), I love my Boricua people. I love Puerto Rico, the food, culture, etc. I love when other Latin Americans show each other love.

As a southern half black/half white guy who grew up around Puerto Ricans and Mexicans, y’all have a way with food and family gatherings that is divine. Fills the stomach and soul with so much love, spice and vibrance. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I used to say I was half Mexican. Then I married a Mexican man and when we visited his family in Mexico, I amended that to half Tejana. I realized it’s different in so many ways…I feel like Tejano is a sub genre of Mexican. LOL either way…I love it all, my Puerto Rican food, my Mexican food, and my Tex Mex food.
I am PUERTORICAN! I am happy to see that mexican ladies enjoyed our cuisine! I enjoyed many of the mexican dishes… specially Menudo! You guys are very welcome!
@@Hello_everyones lol same. I think because my mom is Mexican and I feel more connected to the roots and all my friends were primary Mexican so it’s not a surprise I am in then with the culture but I appreciate the food for sure
Mexican girly here! When I tell you I fell in love with Puerto Rico. I just visited a month ago for the second time & truth be told Puerto Ricans are the sweetest most kindest ppl. This time around I found an amazing breakfast spot with the BEST breakfast in Rio Grande, Rico Pan Bakery. I went there everyday for a week straight especially for their cappuccino! Also, next door on our final day we bought a mofongo that was TOP TIER. La placita was our go to spot during the weekend & did some ATVs in Carabali. What a wonderful country with beautiful ppl and delicious food. Like the ladies said, YOU GO PUERTO RICO ❤️❤️❤️
@Bad_N_Ventions no my love, that is the flag of my country Puerto Rico. In history, we worked together with Cuba to make our flags the same, just inverted colors. Puerto Rico= blue triangle, red stripes Cuba= red triangle, blue stripes
The Caribbean nations have some delicious foods to enjoy. Plantains can be eaten green or ripe. No one can decide which is their favorite. Enjoy and be well all.
@@grecianyournett-rivera4765 exactly, when plantains are ripe, we call them "amarillitos" and we do some sweet and savory dishes with them, so good 😋❤
Pasteles are indeed a delightful treat. They not only offer rich flavors but also embody cultural traditions and family gatherings. There's something special about enjoying food that's been passed down through generations.
I’m not Puerto Rican but grew up with my childhood bestie who is and love all these dishes! Happy to see them enjoying it and next time have them try Pastelón. It’s my fave Puerto Rican dish.
I love seeing the similarities in all our latino cultures. So many similarities with my Cuban and Colombian foods here, just like different names and stuff
Mm! Love this! I’m half Puerto Rican and love Puerto Rican food. Whenever I visit my grandma in Florida, she always makes Arroz con Gandules and she orders some Pasteles too from a local Puerto Rican restaurant. Caribbean food in general just slaps all around.
Thankfully, one of my Tia’s married a Puerto Rican man (R.I.P Tio Jimmy and Mrs. Laureano) and she learned how to make arroz con gandules. It’s delicious!
Random YT viewer and long time resident of PR here. These ladies pretty much nail the flavor profiles. The food here is great and a lot lends itself to fusion combinations too as most PR food doesn't seem to go into extreme flavor profiles (i.e. overly spiced, hot, etc). Anthony Bourdain named PR's roasted pig the best he ever had and only later added the one from the Philippines as a co-equal. :)
Puerto Rican food is the best!! That culantro flavor from the sofrito is the game changer! Separates itself distinctively from every other Latino food. The flavors the spices the tradition the romance. Nothing nothing nothing like it! It’s the best hands down!! I can smell it now ay dios mío!!
This Puertorican right here has been following mamah from day one, I'm a big fan and love you guys, my mexican mamas ! and yes, some of us put ketchup or piqué on our pasteles ! there's a big debate about that lol
As a Puerto Rican I love my food . But man I also really really love Mexican food . Best foods in the world are Mexican, Puerto Rican and Dominican food you can’t never go wrong with any of those .
As a puertorican that once to try real Mexican food, this video just made my heart happy ❤ love seeing other people try our food for the first time! And bye I’m making flan de queso 😂
My bf and I are Puerto Rican, my neighbors are Mexican we love swapping food and trying each other's different cultural dishes it's so fun. Especially when they send something over and we try it and we're like oh it's kinda like "this dish" . Then we will make or find that dish and send it to them it's always a great time ❤😂😊
Too bad they didn’t get a tripleta! My favorite sandwich. Luckily I’m a flight attendant and often visit PR. Just a beautiful island with friendly people and amazing food!
Puerto Rican here! Been cooking since I was 7. I have tried many different foods from all kinds of nationalities & nothing beats Puerto Rican food for me.
I’m Puerto Rican and I been watching this channel since the beginning and I LOVEEEE this video!!! My specialties that I love making and get paid to make being enjoyed!!! ❤❤❤
Great video! My favorite would've been the mofongo. I sense a Dominican food video coming soon. Pastellon, Arroz con Salcicha, Rabo Guisado, Bacalao, Yuca/Cassava. 😋
It's funny & great to watch this. Being Mexican Puerto Rican in NYC I had both growing up. MY dad's mom would make pernil, pasteles, arroz con gandules, flan..... While my mom's mom would make tamales, carne asada, mole, buñuelos. Fortunate to have both
So very nice of you to say such kind words about Puerto Rican cuisine. I'm glad they had an open mind since it is very different from Mexican food. Much love to you, ladies.
I made pernil one Easter. It was SO good but part of the experience is seeing it and the crackly skin. They’d love it even more if they got to pick their favorite pieces and saw it before it was sliced. I want to make that coconut dessert. I think I’ll make it before Christmas and if I like it I’ll serve it at Christmas and pipe a holly leaf on it to make it look like holly in the snow. It just makes me think of Christmas for some reason.
Tembleque is in fact a dessert usually (but not necessarily exclusively) associated with the holiday season. 🥥🍮🥥 (You'll usually find a large bowl of it at any Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas party hosted by Puerto Rican's.) 🦃🇵🇷🎄
I’m Puerto Rican and love my Mexican cousins. I don’t think a lot of Mexicans realize how much Mexican culture Puerto Ricans grow up with. I grew up listening to Juan Gabriel, Vicente Fernandez, Jose Jose and many others since a little boy.
Hmmm...Puerto Rican food is so good, growing up in Chicago I had my neighbors always sharing their dishes.. not to mention a huge Puerto Rican populations with plenty of restaurants to go to...not to much out here in L.A. unfortunately.. got to get some of these recipes.
