Glad you are both persisting (UA-cam etc.) and expanding your influence. Much needed credibility.

How to *stay* asleep....that's my problem. I get to sleep ok but wake frequently during the night. Mostly for the toilet and after dreaming. Getting back to sleep is the difficulty. Need help with that.
The ads for the glucose monitor is so frequent and relentless on UA-cam especially in the UK.

I've had that problem the last 10+ years. I think some was due to events which happened years ago. Even after improving my diet (whole food plant based) and exercising daily it persisted. Still suffer from this a bit. But two things that definitely help - no alcohol and no eating with 2 to 3 hours before bedtime. When I do these two things it makes a clear difference. last meal (or snack) 3 or more hours before bed is even better. If I do have wine I try to have it only with the meal and limit it to a small glass or two. When I wake I also try not to get stressed and just try to slumber myself back into sleep. Beathing might help a bit here if you feel stressed. breathing slow but with the exhale taking longer than inhaling. Light and temperature control might help. Get morning light outside for circadian control. BTW, I only get up once a night for toilet (I'm 69) and sometimes not at all. This can be connected to how much you drink before bedtime. I've tested the drinking and eating time many times with Oura ring data which invariably shows disturbed REM and deep sleep, higher heart rate, higher body temp. lower HRV. In addition to shorter sleep time. Check out work of Prof. Matthew Walker, Book and Podcasts.

We have done a couple of podcasts on sleep, but will be doing another more detailed one soon.

I have the same problem. I wake up in the night and have trouble getting back to sleep. Then I am stressed because I am not getting enough sleep.

I'm 'whole food plant based' (now almost 7 yrs) & have genetically high cholesterol (about 210). My mother has dementia. Should I consider taking a statin?

      Great question.

You should discuss that with your healthcare provider. That said, statins can definitely be a part of a preventive plan for brain and cardiovascular health.

I’m 52. My dad has frontal temporal dementia and my mom has dementia. My dad dx at age 72. Both of my parents now 77. Am I doomed? Is it my destiny already written? Can doing your suggestions help prevent me from getting dementia or is it too late?

I think the increase in Medicare premium for 2024 is solely due to the cost of the new Alz drug. Don't know if this is one of the drugs which is now negotiable. Its really a shame that effort is not put into controlling the source of many health problems - our food supply. Need massive public messaging to at least try o counter the incessant adverting by the fast food etc.
