I am a trans am guy and owner of 02..LS1..I respect and like non brand based types..I love manh muscle cars all different types too I mustang are badass but I'm a trans am dork lol
I love my 2002 T/A. Everytime I drive somewhere, when I get out of the car to walk away, I always find my self looking back at my car! I just love the way these cars look!
I still think the 1998-2002 Firebird Formula and Trans Am are one of the best looking coupes ever made, along with the Corvette of course. I went from really liking, to absolutely loving the styling of Firebird ever since I saw a picture of the restyled '98 Trans Am back in 1997 sometime. My two favorites are the WS6 Ram Air T/A, and the SLP Firehawk T/A. Great video by the way! Awesome machine!!
I have always had an affinity for the 98+ T/A, and that raised rear spoiler. I didn't understand why they put the flat decklid spoiler on the T/A vert, as that was always a deal breaker in my head back then.
A neighbor across from my home has a heavenly modified black one same year, it so loud when he cold starts. He drag races at the track. It’s a Beast! Last of one great Pontiac !!!
I was blown away the first time I saw this car, back in 99-2000. I was just a kid still in middle school. A black one just like this parked on our street. I think this car was what started my love for black sports cars. Today I drive a metallic black 6th gen Camaro SS. Before that, I owned a black Stratus R/T Coupe. In the future I hope to own a black Camaro ZL1. A love and fascination that all started with this car.
This is either a trans-am with a formula firebird front bumper or a formula firebird with T/A badging, not that it matters much after all the mods. Beautiful car, thank you!
I saw the cover of Car and Driver back in the day featuring a white example of the WS6 that stated it was capable of 167mph. I went over to Anaheim Pontiac and placed my order on my next days off. Delivery was delayed due to GM strike. Needless to say, it was more than worth the wait and I miss it to this day.
I grew up in a household which had a 98 Trans am stowed away In the garage taken out for car shows and on nice days. We still have that beauty in the garage with less than 40k miles on her.
Lol the styling took a while to grow on you? I was in love the first time I saw this body style. GM should never have dropped Pontiac. Cars were were either crazy reliable or crazy fast. -Ford owner lol
I never had a Ford, but 10 vehicles and 5 of them were Pontiacs. I've had three 79s, and 81 and a 68 before I bought a 2000 Firebird and then it started growing on me. Well mine was a 3.8 V6, but with black vinyl seats, not grey cloth.
I'm a former 2 time Mustang GT owner (01 and an 03). I had a fully built 03 but it pales in comparison to my 98 T/A even when my T/A was stock. Don't get me wrong I really enjoyed my 03 but I much prefer the LS1. Much more potential at a lower cost.
I remember being 15 years old car shopping with my mom (15 years ago) and sitting in one of these and the dealer acted like it was a very special moment even though it wasnt me getting a car. I wasnt impressed with it until I sat in one..indeed it was a very special moment, as I have never forgotten that memory...Had no idea how rare and amazing these cars are...really wish I would have saved my money back then...I plan on buying one before Im unsingle.
i just bought a 1996 camaro Z28 with the LT1. i know its not an LS1 but for $3k i love the car. the LT1 is still a nice small block and has its roots in the 350. they are both good engines and either car is a blast to drive.
Awesome car! I'm loving that exhaust note. I ordered ARH headers for mine and it'll go into a GMMG exhaust so I'm hoping for a good sound too. Also, don't mind the haters calling BS on the power levels. LS1s with a stick behind it and bolt ons will make 340-360hp to the wheels all day with a good tune. Some dynos read higher than others and some LS1s can be factory freaks because of GM build tolerances, LOL.
I loved my ws6. Even with its little faults here and there it all didn't matter. It always got attention anywhere I went. When kids saw it they usually pointed and tried to get me to do a burnout. A older man at some lights one time said "wow that looked so mean in my rear view mirror what is that?". Good times :).
I have a white 96 WS6 with blacked-out Windows with t-tops.. pacesetter headers and borla exhaust... I smile when girls ask their boyfriends what kind of car is "THAT"!!??😏
i own a 1999 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 Purple and the first thing after cleaning it and getting it for service i went and ordered the Corvette Carbon Custom exhausts... Man it sounds fucking awesome!
Hey guys! Joseph here from episode 12. I appreciate the comments! Im sorry if I haven't read all of them but I'm a busy guy! I was reading over some of the comments and seems the biggest concern is my front bumper, we actually accidentally removed the clip of me explaining that in video. The car is a real Canadian ws6, hood is oem not aftermarket, take a close look at the vents. About 2 years ago someone backed into the front of the car and scuffed the bumper and he had to pay for the repairs. I've had two 98-99 firebirds before so I found that I really liked the formula front end seeing as the fog lights were far more functional, plus when you cut the center piece out for an intercooler it looks cleaner. So since the other guy had to pay for the repairs I just did a bumper swap and had the front clip painted. Hope that reduces some of the confusion! Joe
This car is one beautiful, exotic piece of machinery, it doesn't get any better than this, this should take the place of any classic from the 90s, and 80s, and looks better than any 2000 or greater car. Hands down.
Somebody help me. i have a black trans am ws6 automatic coupe. Had it for about a year. i seen a white one on the computer thought it was beautiful. After a month or so i could not understand for me why the white one looks better. Heres were you can help me I noticed that the front nose cone had more of a slope mine seems boxie.but everything else the same . Than i noticed that the white one was not a trans am ws6 infact is is not a FIREHAWK. The rear end of the white one is definitely a WS6 but the nose cone of the white one slopes more . unless you study you dont notice it but its there. I thought a firehawk was a firehawk and a trans am ws6 was a ws6 but it not so did pontiac make the firehawk and call it the WU6. i never noticed it before. Which is more popular JOE
I Really like your car (or "Tra-zam" as I nick named them). It's always been one of my most desired cars to own. Thanks for showing it off, it deserves the spotlight.
I had one of these it is probably the most favorite of all of the cars I have ever owned, if I wouldn’t have totaled it I would still be driving it today. Even though they didn’t advertise it in 1999 was an anniversary year for Pontiac.
9:03 - More honest words have never been spoken in a car review... I share this very sentiment (as I'm sure many do), having been fixated on 80s and 90s Japanese sports cars during my early years as an adult car enthusiast, because my first wave of cars happened to be Toyotas (2x MR2s and a Celica -GTS). As the years went by, I began to experience cars from all walks of the auto industry, and gained a universal respect for most manufacturers and what they had to offer across several platforms. The late 90s became the pinnacle of non-luxury sports car design and I think the most beautiful and passion-fueled cars from both American and foreign manufacturers will forever shine from within that amazing time capsule at the turn of the century.
Badass car, the only thing bugging this T/A lover is the front bumper. I think the correct T/A bumper looks awesome, and far better than the V6/formula bumper. But hey, it's your car and should look how you want.
Dude, you MUST paint the side grills, ram-air grills, and hood lettering red! It makes the car look like a fire breathing dragon. Putting some red LED's in the ram-air makes it look even more demonic and fire AF at night! The WS6 always was and still is my all time favorite looking car. I had an '02 WS6 (black, w/ red grills/lettering) but sadly totaled it. One of these days I'll buy another 1, this video makes me so sad to watch, but inspires me to get another one some day. Riding with the T-tops down, with that badass sounding exhaust... amazing times!
Nice to hear the owner talking about improving its handling ... after driving things like the RX-8 and BRZ, it is one concern I had about getting one of these (post) high school dream cars in the next year or two (didn't like the pre-98 look nearly as much).
This is the car I've feel in love with have my 99 ws6. Put 215k original miles on it just rebuilt engine and transmission new cam Texas speed, new induction SLIP, headers Texas speed and xpipe with cut out cat back. She is so much more now. Pushing over 400hp. Naturally asperated.
Am I not allowed to like more than one car? And yeah its a V6(lol) am i not entitled to own a mustang but grow up loving the trans am ? Jesus Christ I left a nice comment on the vid and you wanna start shit.. Move along and troll someone else.
You earned a sub with this one!! I saw your channel around and didn't think to give it a chance. But I've known about this car for LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time. One of the best cars you can buy. Expect these things to start becoming more and more expensive over time. Especially the 02's!
I was 17 back when the LS1 Trans Am was released. Was my dream car but being 17 at the time, the insurance premiums, and the fact that it was almost a $30,000 car prevented me from being able to afford it. Finally picked on up in 2015 for a steal. These cars are going up in value especially with the way used car prices have increased as of late.
I've always wanted a T/A since I was a little kid. It is on the top of my list of my favorite cars. I must ask though, is the front bumper on the car in the video from a V6 model. I seem to recall the T/A model having 2 large fog lights on the bumper on either side of the licences plate. Great looking car. I love it.
I regret selling my 2001 WS6.... I couldn't keep it down from 125+ mph. It was the best handling high speed car. It felt like I was only running 60 mph.
My old man has a 96 WS6 with the same rear wing they used in the IROC series, it kind of sticks out longer than the stock wing. It makes the car look more menacing
Katie Cadd The owner explained in the comments section. I accidentally cut out that clip from the video before we put it live. It was in a small front end collision and he liked the looked of the fogs better on this bumper. I have to agree with him.
+Katie Cadd Good call... I was going to ask the same question. I figured I'd read the comments first to see if anyone had asked before I did. I do agree that the Firebird / Formula front fascia does look a lot cleaner than the Trans Am's.
GESSO217 I've had a 96 and I own a 2000 WS6 convertible with a 6-speed not that I'm bragging...lol... but I've never heard anyone say the best year was a 82... please explain
Hard to tell what this car really is without seeing the door tag. From the front, it looks like a Formula ws6, which you could buy through 2000. It has Trans Am rockers on it, a TA rear clip & TA up level spoiler. The bird decal between the brake lights is a Firebird decal, with Trans Am script above. One thing for sure, it's a good looking, good sounding anomaly.
These cars were the ones that started the curvy (snake/shark/raptor-like) "organic" styling of Pontiac up until the late '00s when they started the more angular G-series cars. Under-rated by most like this guy said, but still iconic of that era as it's definitely unique and not mistaken for anything else.
Got mine. Coming in in 2 weeks;) original owner painted a dark blue over purple has a sick ass color and has a bunch of upgraded parts on it :) can't fucking wait for it !!!!!!!
I have never seen a 1999 or later Trans am with this fog light set up. I could be wrong though. It really looks and sounds bad ass. Miss my Firechicken! Thats for sureLol.
The WS6 was an amazing car! I wish I would have been able to drive one. I did drive the Camaro SS of that era. Impressive as it was, I'd rather drive the Trans Am with those HUGE nostrils feeding air to the motor. Legit car!
Had a 99 for 12 years. Oh so much fun. I thought they were absolutely gorgeous. Mine was Black too. It's the one car I had that just pissed everyone off. It brings out people's inner Karen. Fun fun. 😘
Nice WS6 i also have a 99 WS6 red convertible, right now im building a modded high compression lm7 to replaced the knocking ls1. I'm expecting it to make about 360 to 380hp to the wheels with a good tune.
Hello I find myself writing from Chile, house sitting looking at a numerous amount of top gear UK and auto journalism, I must say that your video was very well made, informative professional, I also liked the way the trans am was captured on all angles the way you noted the engine sound crackle and the story of how you bought the first trans am. Having lived in Vancouver I suspected I could be filmed there. Making it a great background view for the sleek automobile, look forward to enjoy more informative videos.
+Burnout762 Yeah but hell I don't blame you for not knowing it lol its kinda forgettable. It's not the old GTA for the 3rd gens or the WS6. I love it though after all it is my car
+IIArkhamII yeah. True. I have a 98 with a 6.0 LQ4 out of a 2007 Chevy truck. Slightly built. 459 to the wheels. They're great cars. Especially with 150 hp Over stock
Good filming ....Nice details of all you've done to trans am and full explanations of mods....thanx for advice of changing diff before add engine mods....that's good advice to share as most others skip.....good professional filming once again......if I'm able to afford one of these unique machines that stand out from basic camaro...mustang American muscle car I'd love to have one soon.....
Truth be told, these LSX motors are okay when it comes to gas. I average at about 20mpg in a fully bolted on! dyno tuned 6.0 liter GTO. That's not too shabby! Once you're breaking into cammed or F.I territory, you're gonna see drops in mpg like with many other engine platforms. And it also depends on how heavy your foot is.
They make a nice couple, their Trans Am is a nice addition to the family. Wonder what those daily drivers are. It’s becoming SO HARD to find an unmolested Trans Am right now without throwing down $22-$25k for a ultra low mileage collectors example.
I bought mine back in 2015 with 97k on it. Seriously an elderly woman had it and passed away. Completely unmolested but it did have some scratches on it from bushes. I buffed all of that out though. Got it for 6K. I've got 148k mileage on it now and I've done quite a bit of improvements on it. Adjustable panhard bar, koni adjustable shocks, weld in subframe connectors, slp loudmouth exhaust, HP Tuners custom tune, port and polished throttle body, volant ram air intake, oil catch can, replaced every single bulb with leds, projector headlights, strut tower bar, replaced all of the monsoon stereo components (speakers were shot) with kicker speakers, got a flush 12 inch subwoofer box that resides on the driver side where the spare tire and jack were (still want all the available hatch space to store my T tops), and did an egr delete. I'm pretty happy with the car as it sits but I'm still going with a cam / intake manifold / long tubes soon and I want to ditch the ten bolt rear end for a Ford 8.8 with 3.73 gears.
If the LS1 gives up the ghost I either want a 6.0 from a vette or I want an LS3. 4L80E as well. Mine is an automatic and I think that's one of the main reasons why the rear end hasn't exploded yet, but I do have a girdled diff cover that puts a preload on the bearings (trying to make this crap rear end last a little while for now.)
Another great production fellas. Owners car is very tasteful too! You Canadians have a good cultured car scene! Love your video productions! Subscriber for life hope to chat car one day in person
This is still a nice F body firebird, for what it is, and a well done video, but there are many more cleaner, more built, and solid representations of a F body firebird/WS6 out there.
A friend of mine had this car back in high school (1998). That car has like a 10 gallon fuel tank. You can literally watch the gas gauge go down when you drive it. I remember once we were driving it down a road a rabbit was in the street. My friend punched the gas the out of the rear view I saw the rabbit FLY STRAIGHT UP in the air. It was hilarious.
This WS6 was probably my favorite muscle car of the 90s. I was 15-18 years old... Still one of my favorites. But such nasty/cheap inside styling. Ha. And my bro had a yellow 98 Cobra, but I couldn't afford this back then to roll along side him.
Nice work on this TA, looks good and I especially like the front bumper mod, the formula front looks nicer than the TA front. I owned a 2002 TA WS6 I bought new but sadly had to sell it after 5 years. What a great car it was, awesome performance, a lot of run and it got a lot of looks as well as they were not very common.
This car is actually a Firebird Formula with the WS6 package. The Trans Am has the parking lights in a different location. They aren't side by side with the fog lights. Like the one this video.
Yes, you're right. I had one one. This is definitely a formula. The front end is a bid difference. Technically, this might be just a formula and he added the spoiler with badges...
OMG THAT INTRO!!! Man that car looks like he's pissed off. Like I'm gonna close my eyes and count to three, and if that Prius is STILL in my way, I'll EAT IT FOR BREAKFAST!! Lol
I'M a Mustang guy, and I want to say that Trans AM ws6 is in the top 3 of my favorite sport cars. Great looking car.
dennis braxton same here
@Kiel Li Mikal how do you like it
The Terminator and WS6 are on my list to own and keep. Also the first gen viper. People were on that Y2K crack and it made some cool cars
Imo they look so much better with custom wheels and low profile tires those aren't stock.
I just love the way these cars look!
kenny barnes dud I do the same lol
LMAO.. You're not alone brother
Same here
Same here man lol
Same here 02 t/a
Cool to see someone drive one for the first time...nothing but smiles

I agree...the 98-02 trans am Ws6 are sexy badass American muscle cars...
As much as I love the 98-02 birds I gotta say the 85 to 92 firebirds where the sexiest
@@keenanwengert423 as a owner of 2002 trans am I have to agree w you 😂
bruh designed is supercar worthy...chevy was jealous on pontiac point blank period
A neighbor across from my home has a heavenly modified black one same year, it so loud when he cold starts. He drag races at the track. It’s a Beast! Last of one great Pontiac !!!
I love the passion he has about it.
I love these Trans Am's, but I despise the Camero's from the same year. The shape of the Pontiacs is on point.
No pun intended I agree that tranzam is fucking beautiful
I agree
Yeah this gen of Camaro's were the ugliest for sure.
Agreed 110%!

The exhaust note of this car is just so sweet!!!! Very nice!!!!!!!!!!!

BEAUTIFUL!❤
Great car, and the owner is very knowledgeable, but he's also a dork. I wouldn't be caught dead in that jacket
Silverstreak that jacket is the shit 😂😂😂
😆😆😆
You have a beautiful car. The last true muscle car. Keep it forever sir
Hope that reduces some of the confusion!

I can see why you like the Formula front clip....
delightful vid to watch, 02 WS6 owner here. keep the birds flying!
daironpower I also own a 02 black Ram air ws6 TA..had it for seven years now and love it..love everything about it.
4:14 hey look, my car is in the background xp

front bumper is from formula, why?
They made a formula WS6, but I don’t understand why he calls it a Trans Am.
Really nice looking car, its a shame Pontiac no longer exists.
FINALLY!! Someone properly reviewed a 4th Gen F-Body.
Where can I find those decals from the Benini guy he mentioned?
Nice car man!!

Trans Am rear hatch, but a Formula front bumper cover, looks amazing.

My 94 has the formula bumper
This dude is such a nerd with his Pontiac jacket hahaah
a slight upgrade from a Member's Only jacket
haha yeah I own a WS6 and I thought the same thing.
Jack Mike Hawkoff how's that make him a nerd? lol mad cause you ain't got a ws6
Jealous of the car, not the jacket
The man makes the clothes
Nice mods, brakes, suspension, and power. Balanced, not just focused on maximum power output.
Badass ws6 man, underrated cars IMO. Probably because of the pontiac badge. Keep up the quality content.

Nice Ride man...
Getting my 2000 WS6 up in rumbling again in 2019
Been my dream car and still is I hope to get one some day
Me too buddy
I love it.
Beautiful! I had two LS1 Trans Am's. One of them was a WS6. Miss them 😢
Why did you sell them?
+koovidsrcool because I felt needed to update to a newer vehicle. I got myself a new 2013 F150 FX2.
Love it! I wish i could get mine upgraded like this. There just doesnt seem to be anyone in my area that upgrades of restores cars in this fashion.
I regret selling my 2001 WS6.... I couldn't keep it down from 125+ mph. It was the best handling high speed car. It felt like I was only running 60 mph.
Still a nice ride, authentic or not. The haters don't jave one this nice. Fab video!
My old man has a 96 WS6 with the same rear wing they used in the IROC series, it kind of sticks out longer than the stock wing. It makes the car look more menacing
Formula's are awesome indeed!~3time Firehawk owner
Nice! 🤟
Ok so if this is a real trans am why does it have a formula front bumper? I call bullshit
Katie Cadd The owner explained in the comments section. I accidentally cut out that clip from the video before we put it live. It was in a small front end collision and he liked the looked of the fogs better on this bumper. I have to agree with him.
haha Katie I was gonna say same shit, first thing I noticed was the V6/Formula bumper ....I was waiting for explanation
+Katie Cadd I literally just scrolled down planning on typing the same thing lol
+Roads Untraveled I agree too, the formula bumper is definitely nicer looking.
+Katie Cadd
Good call... I was going to ask the same question. I figured I'd read the comments first to see if anyone had asked before I did. I do agree that the Firebird / Formula front fascia does look a lot cleaner than the Trans Am's.
It's a damn shame they don't make these anymore. The Trans Am has always been my Favorite car. 1982 model is my favorite year.
A Trans Am was the first muscle car I drove and I love em
My favorite car of all time.
These cars were the ones that started the curvy (snake/shark/raptor-like) "organic" styling of Pontiac up until the late '00s when they started the more angular G-series cars. Under-rated by most like this guy said, but still iconic of that era as it's definitely unique and not mistaken for anything else.
Nice car, kinda reminded me how much my Sunfire looks like a mini-Bird. Good vid :)
This gen Trans am is one of the few muscle cars I would own......just look at it its sooo pretty
when people can only tell you about the spec's and looks of a car this is what u get who ever did the work(of course
this guy didnt) did a great job
Got mine. Coming in in 2 weeks;) original owner painted a dark blue over purple has a sick ass color and has a bunch of upgraded parts on it :) can't fucking wait for it !!!!!!!
Great camera coverage guys..
Lot of work and accessories to make look like a WS6 Trans Am.
Great video 💯
Daily drive my 01 Formula in 2022, found it in a barn 8 years ago and it was love at first sight ♥
I'm getting one of these this fall I can't wait. 1998 to 2002 muscle cars, the ls1 is the one to get
I had 3 f bodies and the WS6 was the best car I ever owned. I wish I never got rid of it it was such a beast. 423 rwhp with just a cam lol
Legit car!
Sweet ride. Nice video
Dan Robinson Thank you! We appreciate it.
This was amazing. Subscribed!
***** Thank you!
$3600 for a WS-6? They're going for like 15-20k....
+2dfx got my 01 for 3500
How long ago?
+2dfx 2013, 2001 trans am ws6 with 100k on body and 60 on motor
Man I wish I could find one at that price here!
Paid $3400 for a '97 WS6 M6
I want one of these so badly.
I have a 94 Trans Am GT with a 5.7l LT1 and I absolutely love it! Trans Am all the way!
Trans am GT?
+Burnout762 It was only available in 94 it was the highest package at the time.
+IIArkhamII I see. Learn something every day
+Burnout762 Yeah but hell I don't blame you for not knowing it lol its kinda forgettable.
I'm a Ford guy but I bet this car will be a collector car.
I just uploaded a video of my buddies Firehawk. It's bone stock"right now" I can't wait to see the mods..
16 gallon bruh
This WS6 was probably my favorite muscle car of the 90s. I was 15-18 years old... Still one of my favorites. But such nasty/cheap inside styling. Ha. And my bro had a yellow 98 Cobra, but I couldn't afford this back then to roll along side him.
Whiterock BC! Dude, you've got a track a little less than an hour away in Mission. I'll be racing there this Friday if it doesn't rain again...
Like the one this video.
different rear spoiler on a '99 Formula vs. Joseph's car,,,,
I thought the same thing, but he's got the Trans Am spoiler, so it can go either way
Tommy C I tried looking up Tommy Colbon and could t find anything
Rodimus_Prime look me up on facebook or google tommycolbon
Yes, you're right. I had one one. This is definitely a formula. The front end is a bid difference. Technically, this might be just a formula and he added the spoiler with badges...
I love mines too 93 LT1
I still love a clean WS6
OMG THAT INTRO!!! Man that car looks like he's pissed off. Like I'm gonna close my eyes and count to three, and if that Prius is STILL in my way, I'll EAT IT FOR BREAKFAST!! Lol
This guy looks like a pontiac version of the old corvette guys who have corvette shirts, hats, mugs, etc etc.
