I have essential tremors in my hands making installation of a second hand an extremely difficult task. I purchased this jig and it worked perfectly first time. I cannot recommend this more highly to save the frustration.
I got my own a few weeks ago, and it works perfectly! It’s truly unique. I looked for alternative products but couldn’t find anything comparable. In my opinion, every watchmaker needs one of these. No more shaky hands and no more bent second hands as a result
Ordered one yesterday. No shipping update yet but really looking forward to it! I’ve got a few watches to build. But going to hold off till it gets here.
That is amazing, starting out installing hands takes time, but once you learn it tools like this really save time. The 1 dollar plastic ones may work, but the ability to feel the seconds hand when installing is nothing compared to well made plastic installation tools. With the 1 dollar install tools it is possible to install hands, but takes a lot of patience. Another thing is the second hand needs to be properly sized. Some maybe a single increment and is hard to put on. Before hard pressing the hands make sure to look closely, you may ruin an expensive movement by pushing to hard or hitting with a mallet. Would like this tool if I was starting out, but maybe good to get a simple 2 double tipped 10-20$ hand press tool like not the pusher kind but a double sided pencil with specific dims.
From experience I would recommend timelabs 013-a hand press tool. I like diy channel, because they are amazing and their tools help cut the expensive time to look for quality tools.

Hello, I'm having a problem with a movement NH35, the seconds hands dosen't fit the seconds post, how should I check if the movement is not good or the seconds hand I have isn't the right one?
Make sure the hands you have a suited for the NH35. They should be 1.5/0.89/0.21 millimeters H/M/S If the hour and minute hands fit, the hands are probably correct. It can indeed be very very tricky to get the seconds hand on and they can be a tight fit too because they're just a friction fit and manufacturing tolerances vary slightly. If you have a loupe or magnifying glass you can check the seconds hand post is straight, also using a phone camera zoomed in with the flash lit might help get a clear inspection.
@@DIYWatchClub Update. I used this tool and built about 5 watches. Easily best purschase ive ever made takes 1 minute to install the second hand perfectly every time
Just purchased one of these, but just noticed you have to remove the grey movement holder for it to fit in. But to do that i need to remover the dial. Is that correct, if so i just wasted £30 😫

Happy to know you found it helpful!
I just installed a second hand in about 5 minutes
Amazing tool
I'm curious where are they shipped from. I'm afraid of getting insane custom charges
It was cheap enough to fly under the radar of customs Canada for me
I have one & it works brilliantly. A game changer.
Glad to hear it works well!

This is pretty slick.
Yeah this is going to help so many people who have problems with hand installation!
love this idea! you should make something to install custom logos onto dials. I'll be your first customer!
That's an interesting idea!
I’ve made logos using gold vinyl nd cricut cutter
Great idea.
Definitely a eureka moment when we conceived of this idea!
@@DIYWatchClub I've got some good ideas for ya :)

I’d prefer a new tool, rather than a second hand tool 😏
😉
Clever! Love my DIY Watch :)
🤓That's nice to hear!
when i install the second hand it moves with the minute hand what can i do ?
The Achilles Heel of watches with hands. 😮
Brilliant!
Really hope this tool helps people with hand installation!
Where can I buy this tool
This is genius
Glad you think so!
Hi! Only works for 28.5mm dial? I am doing seiko presage using a nh35 but the dial is 31.8
Very clever 👍, a shame it only fits nh35, but you can't have everything.
We do hope we'll bring it to other movements in the future!

Are you able to reuse this or is it just 1 time use?
it's resusable

Will this work with the NH36 movement?
Yes, NH(34,36,36,37 and 38)
Correct, yes this will work with the NH36 movement

Just watched it again, i think I'm referring to the main ring. Don't have a movement in front of me to look atm. Doh i think i am wrong lol

Is this work only for 28,5-29mm dial?
The inner diameter of the upper holder is 29.5mm so the dial can only be as big as that
This one works best on 29mm dial, and doesn’t work for larger dial like 33mm.
Link to STL?
lol
lol it's just a holder with some secret sauce drizzled on it
If you need this to do something simple as setting seconds hands, this hobby is not for you.
