My Old Man gave me his 29-2 a few years back. Manufacturer date around 1978. Original box and Rosewood grips. Absolutely beautiful revolvers. Great video, guys!
23 seconds into the video the point is made everyone needs a 44 Magnum
Yup! A shout out for Ruger Redhawks! Hella more stout than a S&W.
I think your right. 357 mag is cool. But the 44 mag and the 41 mag are bigger and meaner ...
I have one 👍🏻 Beautiful
@@jimmysapien9961 The Model 29 & Clint Eastwood saved Smith & Wesson in the old days (early 1970s).
Most people buy a Model 29 in 44 magnum. Shoot it once or twice then, after realizing 44 magnums are very unpleasant to shoot
and hard to shoot accurately for so many, put their new powerful canon in the closet never to be used again.
*Jimmy S. is this you?
Got one last year. For self defense.
That's the most beautiful S&W .44mag revolver I have ever seen in my life
Eric: “we will let chad shoot his revolver sometime too”
Chad: “thanks” lol
Bringing a classic Smith & Wesson .44 magnum to the range guarantees plenty of fun to be had. Awesome video.
Back in the mid to late 90's I bought a 629 Classic DX 8-3/8", and it is without a doubt an exceptional revolver. It's easily my favorite handgun in my collection.
I have the blued 29 Classic, got it for $475 in the 1990's. It still kicks butt.
I believe that originally the DX came with Combat Grips (Goncola Alves) as well as the Hogues, as well as 6 different interchangeable front sights. They were also some of the only Revolvers to ever come from the factory with an accuracy guarantee. I believe that all DX models were guaranteed to print 2" or less @ 50 yards. And they make wonderful White Tail guns, I dropped several each year of youth with my Dads DX...usually in the 25-75 yard range using 300 gr Sierra handloads, which had just come out at the time as well. Great video guys, much love your way this holiday season!!
I just wanted to say thank you guys very much. Your videos as well as many others have helped make the strangest year in my lifetime a little bit easier to get through. I am writing this from the westside of Los Angeles...probably one of the least gun friendly places in the country but there are still plenty of firearm owners here. After what we have seen in the last 12 months I have never felt more strongly the need to protect our 2nd Amendment.
I went by moss pawn and gun today. It was the first time I’ve been there. Awesome experience very friendly people I’m down here visiting family from Texas.
Clint Eastwood approves this video.
"You feeling lucky punk?"
"Blow your head clean off..."
6 or only 5?
@@AussieLiam93 I still ask these young gang banners that till this day....
"Swell"
They got bigger "badder" magnum cartridges but imho nothing beats a .44mag its actually still shootable and still usable while still being a hoss
44 magnum out of a long lever gun barrel is very powerful!
I love my 41 mag it's plenty good enough
Exactly
@@chris3383 Is it difficult to find ammo for your .41?
I had one years ago and sold it. I still have sellers remorse. It was very accurate. I mounted a bushnell red dot on it and it was deadly accurate at 100 yards.
That 29 knocks those metal target with undoubtedly authority 😎
I went on a private tour of the Smith & Wesson production facility about 10 years ago; it was a great experience 👍
My first revolver my dad gave me and it was a S&W 19-5 357 nickel plated, he bought from a LEO when they switched to semi auto probably 30+ years ago and I will.never get rid of it absolutely amazing gun.
My 629 DX Classic with 5" barrel is my favorite handgun by far. It's got an *amazing* double action trigger. I used to carry it when I lived in Wyoming grizzly country.
Reminds me of when I’m shooting my Model 29 with the 8 3/8” barrel. After my first shot, I am all smiles. Smith and Wesson revolvers just make me happy!!
It's like the Cadillac of handguns. A classic with enough power to guarantee smiles.👍
That opening was glorious. I was literally holding one of these beauties (not classic dx) and admiring it at my local gun store yesterday. It's one of the guns I dream of owning one day...
"i'm going to shoot one more cylinder".... ... ... ... 9 cylinders later...
Funny how that works when your having fun!! LOL I do that all the time,,,
Just a couple more,,,well,,maybe just a couple more,,,,,,,5 box's later,,,
Damn, I'm outa ammo! LOL
twa2471 it’s sorta like when you say “one more chip”, and then it’s 20 chips later.
Makes sense
Because shooting is addictive
Revolvers are dope, that's why! ;)
Bah! who's counting
0:30 the most impressive thing about this video is how eric manages to stay dry after the soda bottle literally fell inches away from him
Edit: about Eric 9:21 and Chad 19:13 , dont blame them, if you dont flinch with a .44 magnum, you're a liar ;)
@The Weapon Collection Lying isnt an admirable trait.
Paul Harrell doesn't flinch when shooting anything. Is he human, or a god? You be the judge.
I can second The Weapon Collections statement. I shoot and hunt a lot with a magnum research bfr in 45-70. After I haven’t practiced in a while I will flinch with my hotter loads. Hotter loads being a 450 grain bullet at 1720 FPS or a 550 grain at either 1400 and 1500 FPS from the 10 inch barrel. But now like a 400 grain at 1400 is no big deal. I shoot my 44 mags and I don’t even notice the recoil. All about practice and experiences
@@vincedibona4687 literally watched that man shoot a 45-70 revolver like it was nothing.
fireblazz THANK YOU!
My first handgun was a 29-3 . Love that gun, has really made me a .44 mag fan boy
Have the 8 3/8s nickel -3....only pistol I own
I have a mid 80’s 8” 629 .44 and love everything about it. I think that’s the absolute hay day of Smith revolvers.
My first handgun was a 629-2. Still have it. When I was a teen, dropped my first buck with it at around 50yrds. Have taken turkey out to 50yrds. I'm jealous of yours! Ready to see one of you hunt with it!
I have an identical Blued 29 Classic DX, all original, all accessories and box. My understanding is they only made the blued version for 1 year. It took many years before it showed up in the Blue Book of gun values. Bought it new in 1992. Wonderful gun.
I would have to say that is the best opening 45 seconds on UA-cam.... Stay safe brother
That is a beauty!! Glad you brought it out.
I have the Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 magnum, it is fun to shoot. Thanks for the video guys.
The first 40 seconds are my favourite UA-cam of 2019 so far
I love the versatility of magnum wheel guns. Nothing better than a gun that you can download to comfortable target rounds and upload to a bunker buster.
Excellent Marksmanship men! Not an easy caliber to master with that big explosion inches from your face. Bought my first 44 Magnum model 629 pushing 40 years ago and couldn't hit a paper Plate 10 yards in front of me. Wasn't the fault of the gun either. Thanks for the great vidios!
Sweet, I have a 1968 model 29 blued 6" and it has been in my family since then!!
And it is beautiful!!!
Enjoy
Great video! I love the S&W Model 29 44 Magnum!!
Eric,Intro is priceless!. 22lr=pew, pew ,pew.44Magnum=WTF! Great video...
Last of the truly multifunctional magnums IMHO! Love the.44 mag , what a beautiful revolver! Fun video 👍 guys, don't know how I missed this one for so long . Keep them coming!!
I picked up a 629-6 5" Classic a few weeks back and I am loving it. I have no reason to need a .44mag, but I didn't own a revolver, so I figured I'd go for broke.
Thank you for showing us this fine S&W example from the exquisite 'The Chad Collection' .
Love the 29s and 629s. My neighbor had a pistol he bought for his wife..... really said that. Turn out to be 29-3 Silly with the 10 5/8 barrel in mint condition. Lucky me.....happy happy happy happy awesome shooter. Also funny to look at with it's long barrel.
Love my nickel Model 29!
Me too
Tony McDowell Me 3, x 2
This gun is my favorite of all handguns ! Thx for doing a review on it !
I have a late 80s 629 5in barrel it is my most prized revolver. I shoot it as often as I can and carry it every chance I get. It will never leave my collection
That's a beautiful revolver. I like the finish better than the stainless version and 6.5 inch is perfect size for carry, imo.
My dad has a 629 classic 44 magnum and I absolutely love it. He can’t shoot it much anymore because of his arthritis.
Outstanding. Magnificent. Excellent. That looked incredibly fun.
I have an old model 19 that looks just like that great piece!!!
Every tool had its use
👍🥃🇬🇧
i love this intro so much, its just satisfying
I have the same gun but with a 5 inch. Picked it up brand new as soon as I came back from Desert Storm in Spokane wa. Mine doesn't like hot loads but 240 grn normal loads are very accurate.
I have a blue 29-3 with 8" barrel from either '86 or '87. In that era the serial numbers are called "the dreaded triple Alpha numbers". The Smith Standard Catalog says the best way to nail down the year is to write Smith a letter asking them to date your piece, and there is a fee for that. No big deal, I just haven't done it yet.
I recently bought a 629 Classic with a 6.5 inch barrel. It gets a lot of wide eyed looks at the range. It shoots great best $700.00 I ever spent
I just bought a new model 29 6.5" a few weeks ago. Ammo is a pain to come across right now but I've put a few cylinders through it and I in love. I'm not a fan of the thinner grips on the new ones but that can be changed. Plan on getting the classic thicker grips soon.
Man, that looks nice!
The 29 is a classic and I might could buy one sometime soon. For now I just load some mid range rounds in my 500 and get a nice smooth shooting and accurate hand cannon with 44 mag power but lighter on the hands. Those full power rounds in the 500 are only for rare occasions when I want to see that plate swing hard or when all the folks around here are having fun on Saturdays and want to make myself heard too. Got to love living in the sticks of GA!
Love the 44! Love the 29 629😍
You've Made My DAY !!!
oooooo me likey. Putting that in the shopping cart.
I just scored 6" S&W model 617 that looks just like this model 29 except it's all stainless. Long barreled revolves rule! 👉💥💥
Congratulations!
Great show. I picked up an Astra 44 mag. Love it
That is one of my winter carry guns. For when I'm looking for someone to make my day.
Preferably a ninja punk🙈👍😉🤣
I have that same revolver, but with the 5” barrel. Otherwise the same, including the bluing and grips. It’s the only gun I’ve ever named. He’s “Big Poppa”. It is SUPER accurate.
wow... i love it...very powerful and good sound...
way cool !! I have the performance center 629 I love shooting it
glad to see revolvers getting a little love
Love my Model 29! A .44 Magnum is a man's cartridge!
Couldn’t agree more! Happy owner of a 29-2 in 6.5 inches...
Excellent show, thanks
Love the 44mag...
Smith and Wesson makes a great one
Got a few model 29s my favorite and the one I'm best with is the 8 inch
This video was awesome. Not that you both don't get along great , but sometimes you both just mesh so much it's like I'm not watching a video and you two aren't producing a video, but I'm just there enjoying a day at the range.
Clint is 6foot3 and shooting Blanks in the m29 8,38 inch bbl. This was my first gun and iam only 5foot7, loved it!
My father has the 629 classic love that gun
Glad to see the hurricane missed you..
0:00 - 0:40 Good point.Going to buy one rn
I have a 629-3 Classic DX 5" that is probably my favorite firearm.
That intro had me on the floor! XD
S&W 29s and 629s are sweet shooters, and with the right load you can easily spend an entire day at the range just plinking away and having fun! If you get one though, it's a good idea to think about getting into reloading. The average cost of 44 Magnum ammunition has practically doubled over the last twenty years. Rolling your own is a lot more economical.
There is something I really like is loading large caliber handgun one round at a time into the cylinder.
Now that's a handgun I'd love to own.. Slammin down some steel slabs out to 200m on a sunny summer sunday..
Finally, some revolver love! Well done Gentlemen.
Beautiful handgun. You got to love 44magnum.
I have a model 629 classic, it is the most accurate handgun I own. A real blast to shoot
I miss those older pre lock pre all steel smith revolvers. My two grails are a 4" pinned and recessed 29-2 and a 4" pinned and recessed 19-4.
It was Clint Eastwood’s favorite pistol or dirty hairy back in the day in the movies 44 magnum the other cop is 38 specials in the movies.
I need a .44 because I like making fruit salad
Thoroughly Wet I need one to scare the neighbors horses off lol jk
Boy you aren't throwing around any .22 in this video. Love it.
Apples to oranges there n I have purpose for both. Great vid as always Eric. Father bless y'all
Great job guys I enjoy your videos very much.
... Cut + Dry my man ... you showed it .. !!
The Model 29 makes the corners of my mouth touch my ears.
Beautiful
Favorite gun in my modest collection.
The 29 7.5" Magna Classic is a lot like that pistol only with rounded wood finger grips. By far the best pistol I have ever shot.
What a sweet gun. Chad you are one lucky gunner.
You just had to pull this out to make us drool 🤤 didn’t you? Such a tease
Beautiful.
Excellent model !!!
Heard a tornado touched down in Georgia, hoping you fellas and your fams are all good!
That .44 makes that metal sing! Dingggg!!!!
Gorgeous cannon
