      @@gumbyybumg I started watching this in about 019, 020, and I watched it because I liked Barry's character (reminds me of my late uncle). I noticed he wasn't in the newer video's, so I went back through, and that's when I discovered he left us. I still watch -like-sub, but it's not the same. RIP Barry

    • @ic3p1k
      @ic3p1k 8 років тому +6

      Yet another armchair physicist. The speed of sound is 1,125 feet per second aKa mach 1. There are many handgun bullets that travel slower than sound (think .45 or subsonic rounds). Go back to school, kid. Let me know when you've played with some real guns. Also, it was an exaggeration of sorts. You know, like a joke that implied that the thing was so loud just the sound of it would kill you. You'd know that it you weren't a complete idiot though.

    Love those revolvers, and big bores at that is icing on the cake. My first handgun was a Dan Wesson 44 8”VR/HB which I still own today. I have drooled over the DW 445 Supermag for years, even placed a few bids on GB, no luck yet 😞, but did find a great deal on S&W 500 😁, thanks for all the great vids over the years, keep it up!!!

    I have a Smith and Wesson 460... and I honestly don't feel the reason to fire anything else, when I bought it I was scared to even squeeze the trigger but honestly the recoil is really manageable once you put maybe 20 rounds through it and get use to it, I prefer loading 454 casul rounds into it. 460 rounds are more for hunting and.. very expensive. and that 500 linbaug would absolutely terrify me to even have loaded let alone shoot it.

      Randall Flagg one trip to the range isn't going to deafen anyone and there is a first time for everyone. Especially with big bore hand guns. He did pretty well for a first timer with a 44 magnum.

      Deep South BBQ & Smoke Wagon I came to the comments to see if it mentioned if he was already deaf in his right ear. I imagine if I was deaf in one ear I'd do that to show people they should speak at my left ear. Dunno, hard telling not knowing.
      You'd think if he wasn't deaf in that ear already, one .44mag round would be enough to remind him. I popped a .40s&weak once while hunting, it was blistering loud w/o earpro.

    • @froterons
      @froterons 9 років тому +1

      Randall Flagg I didn't get a chance to look at the entire range, but it looks relatively open, I've shot rifles and shotguns in an open field before and it really doesn't do too much to you if you're in a nice open area. Still a good idea to wear ear protection though. However, I've shot a few guns in an open range where there were walls on either side of the range, didn't wear ear protection to look tough I guess, and now I'm pretty much deaf in my left ear.

    That .357, I shot a friend's K-frame once with defensive Magnum loads. I held on with both hands expecting something massive, and then came such an easy recoil I thought it was another .38, shot it one handed the rest of the day since I prefered it.
    And I'm not a big guy for that matter, barely at the low end of average.

    Agreed.Lead rounds are a lot safer when fired at steel.If its a slow moving round like 45lc it usually ends up a small flat and round disc,but faster moving rounds often vapourise on impact.

    They're also shooting lead rounds, which are quite soft. When they hit the steel plate, they usually flatten into something the width of a dime and then split apart into a bunch of little pieces that don't ricochet much. I have been hit by a ricochet from a jacketed bullet, but it didn't do any damage through a pair of jeans.

    TK Custom can cut that 460 S&W magnum for moon clips so that 45 ACP, 45 Super, 460 Rowland and 45 Winchester Magnum semi-auto cartridges. Takes just 6 seconds and you can still single load 460 Smith and Wesson Magnum, 454 Casull, 45 Colt, 45 Schofield and 45 Autorim just fine or use a speed loader.

    While I've never really understood the practicality of a big bore revolver outside of grizzly and cougar country, I sure do love watching OTHER folks shoot them. That said, the Desert Eagle in .50 AE is one of my favorite pistols, because the recoil is entirely managable.

  • @sirwilliam51

    Eric,
    I've got a project for you. I want to build a California ghostgun. It has to be buildable using an 80% lower, have a cyclic rate of 3600 rpm and accept the famous .30 cal 30 round magizine clip.
    If you can build it I'll buy it from you and enough of these magclips to shoot for half an hr at the local range. But the barrel has to withstand that rate of fire so we might have to find the magical metal in southern California probably in Anaheim in the Disney corp.
