As always, thanks for your meticulousness. The MSP is still the champion, in sound quality, in the $50 and below range.
for sheer audio quality yes, but not everyone cares about that. This has its place though its not for me. I got a second one but the upper bass is just too much.
you don't have to be a fan of one person to appreciate their work. in this case I can only honestly take off my hat. Doing so much effort to create meaningful tests and comparisons (although we are in the budget speaker area) is really great! You do that very well. 🦾 👌🏻

Bought one that is similar to this in UAE through amazon and it goes by a name Promate. Used it mostly for gym and it was loud enough I don't need a new one. Bought is for 1/2 the price of a jbl clip 5 and 1/3 of a jbl charge 4. Best purchase ever. No regrets. Thanks for this reveiw it helped me decide what to buy. You just saved me a week of

Very thorough review. Thank you. I own a Bugani M83 and like most of these speakers with micro sd card capability there is usually no "random play" mode meaning that music tracks always start at track no.1. So, If you have 100's of tracks on a card you'll rarely get to hear most of them unless you listen solidly for days! Surely it wouldn't be impossible for manufacturers to incorporate a random play button for greater flexibility/versatility without too much of a price hike.
To be honest im surprised sd play is still even a thing. But yeah if they are going to give this feature random should be the default mode.

Hi Alan, your EQ Charts has helped me a lot to balance out the sound on my D8 Mini - at least on devices where I can manually adjust EQ settings. Its a shame most mp3 players are stuck with preset EQs.
What device are you playing from?

W-King in default mode sounds much better than the JBL in my opinion. It's more sibilant, in a good way.

nope! anker has an app that gives access to the speakers firmware

I’ve noticed on my w-king D8 (not mini) that if I turn the volume down on the speaker, but up on my phone the sound differs again, making it less bass heavy. Did you notice this?
there does seem to be an issue with volume. randomly i can get it to play 3db louder just by messing with the volume button even in eq mode. havent tried what you describe but there is something going on with the volume control. i also randomly can get it to jump into eq mode by keeping on pressing the volume up button even if i havent switched to eq mode.
Trying to get my eq mode to work on my D8 min how do you know is on or working meaning the eq mode

😜 the specs are different, 4.2 v 5 bluetooth, battery 2500 v 5000mah? maybe thats because its 7.4v but i doubt it. even the frequency range is quoted as different.

I solved the w king d8 mini moving bass problem..I switched over to outdoors mode then used a pro quality BASS APP to create my own signature!..problem solved!

It only plays left or right speaker. So on stereo songs on half the sound plays. How can I adjust this?

The w-king d8 mini I bought adjusted the BASS 40 TIMES AT LOW VOLUMES and it also dropped many times at high levels..not good.
i never liked the mini, sold them both.
Charge has nice deep bass, but everything over it is ... weird :| . Maxsound plus still gives the most in this size (deep bass, stage, clarity). I use Equalizer FX (androind) to add more bass (deeper bass), Its quieter, but i like flat but begin :P
the good news is there are so many options out there now no matter what you prefer.
I eventually went with the otty mattress
And it turned up yesterday.

@@budwhite9781 I tried it, it's quite interesting ... if it had the most consistent bass in all frequencies, together with the clarity of the old Taotronics Pulse X of the mid and highs, it would have been perfect ... however for the price it is surprising that it has that emphasis in the 60 herz ...

I got the w-king. It's loud enough to make yo neighbors complain. That speaker BOOMS.
You could also check out the soundcore rave mini. I heard it's a party speaker.
I gave away my w king d8 mini and replaced it with a SOUNDCORE SELECT PRO!.finally a decent speaker!

it doesnt really fit with the type of speakers i have been looking at so far. never say never . it does look interesting.
Just personal opinion, but on speaker a bit on the larger size, 4 hours at max volume isn't very good.
i think its running at 7.4v for power, so actually 2x 2500mah batteries in parallel. its really not bad, about what you would expect.

33% eq mode means harsh sounding for my ear...Generally, D8 mini is useful for higher volumes i think
its a better listen than the bigger d8 which is really muddy at low volume but if they got rid of the eq mode and just let it play balanced it would be better. To be fair its decent listen for £40 for a general listen and nothing serious. but yeah its more balanced over 50% much like the bigger d8. Are you still looking more speakers? 😜 sticking with the helsinki?
