I was a medical student when LipSense was at the height of it’s popularity. Every rotation I was on, there was always a nurse trying to sell me LipSense. I don’t blame the nurses. They are underpaid and need that side hustle, but LipSense is awful.
I think lipsense made sense at the time it started, that is how all long wear lipsticks were like, but now I feel like the technology has moved on but lipsense hasn't.
@@jaclynlevy5644 I get targeting nurses, too. They’re usually too busy to do makeup touch ups during their shifts. I did’t have time to care about makeup at all back then. If I managed to apply lip balm it was a good day. LipSense was just painful for me. I had no desire to have burning dry lips.
*Jen Luv:* The way to avoid too many kitchen gadgets is to know who to trust who reviews them. Then you don't waste time or money. I'm so into it I moderated the equipment section of a Chef's forum for years. Bamboo cutting boards are *terrible* for knives, they're too hard. Cherry wood and certain types of acacia end grain make the best cutting boards, you can get them with juice grooves. For spatulas, you can't go wrong getting the from restaurant supply stores. They are NSF approved, durable, sell designed and will last for decades. Cook's Illustrated and Serious Eat's Food Lab are reliable sources for reviews.
Barry Lewis, a UA-cam creator is a good review channel to watch for kitchen gadgets as well.

Just to answer your question about the elf glow filter. Honestly I use that as a primer, and use it every single day after my sunscreen. So having that amount is actually great for me. Love your content Jen!

I like the mini chopula for the purpose of a cake/other dessert cutter and server (if you haven't tried it that way, I recommend it)!

The Dow foot is so big because people use it all over their face. You can also use it on your body which is why it’s also a bigger bottle!

I like to mix the Elf Halo glow into other foundations to add a little glow... they also made it so large because it's a CT flawless filter dupe and a lot of people use just that as their foundation, so I'm sure Elf wanted to give enough product to use that way as well, if guess the reason for the larger doe foot- bigger tool for spreading product 😊
I think the elf halo glow liquid filter is a dupe for the charlotte tilbury which I use instead on foundation so the size is good for me. Think the idea is you mix it in with your foundation as well but I just use it on its own. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, ready to check it out now 😅 hopefully I can replace the CT one!

Hey Jen! I’ve actually used the Elf Halo Glow Fliter as foundation! If I spot conceal it provides decent coverage!
I think the elf halo glow is also supposed to be a primer for all over the face. So the big doe foot and the total volume! I actually use it all over the face sometimes underneath long wear foundations!😊
I’m in love with the elf halo glow. It makes my skin looks amazing when I wear it.

The ELF filter is a dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter. Same bottle size, same doe foot applicator size.
The Jones Road bronzer in Dusty Rose is really great for me. I am fair (with slightly blue undertone) with not really big cheek bones. So this bronzer 1) gives a healthy kick of pink to my face that looks real; 2) isn't too gray or yellow/orange on me; 3) works to create a "pedestal" for my blush to shine on so I look like I have more prominent cheekbones. I am a fan of this and wish more brands would create more pink-based bronzers.
Same! I just got mine today, and I’ve never used a bronzer that looks so natural on me! 😊
I've been eyeing it myself! I have yet to find a bronzer that looks natural on my uncooked chicken complexion 😆
You guys had good luck with the Dusty Rose, I’m fair light and it looked like I had a sunburn on my skin. Plus it was chalky once my brush hit the product, powder everywhere. Fail for me, but I loved the color. Tried as a blush, still full on sunburn on my skin.

With the elf filter, the only shade that was available was alittle too dark for my skin, so I started using it as a liquid bronzer. And omg I'm obsessed!!! But you do have to make sure to wash your brush more often as this prouduct can clog pores!
Omg I have been looking for the perfect neutral palette and damn does the Whimsical Nude palette look absolutely perfect. Like every shade is what I am looking for
I am actually really impressed with the telescopic mascara. It trumps my high end mascaras. It only takes me 2 steps and two layers to get a really amazing effect. ❤

I use the elf halo glow by itself on top of sunscreen so the size works for me. I've almost finished my first bottle actually.

The UD face palette is tempting. I have a few trips/holiday and I think it will be ideal for that purpose AND for touch ups throughout the day, I mean, it looks pretty robust enough to withstand a full day of being knocked around in my handbag!!

My favorite product I got this month, was the Adept Cosmetics Unnamed palette. Then the Kiko Milano 3d gloss in the shade 05. It's the prettiest glittery gloss I've ever tried😍😍
I also got one of the new Danessa Myricks liquid highlighters, and a little mini of her balm powder thing. I used the highlighter today and I love it so far, but it's only been once🤣🤷♀️

Halo glow is designed to also be used as a sheer skin tint and that’s how I use it, so the packaging is 100% perfect for that imo!
Since you asked:^) I love the Elf Halo Glow..I think it's their best product..I prefer to wear it over foundation to get that dewy look which is what it provides for me..I agree in that wearing it under a foundation doesn't really do much of anything..When I apply it over my foundation I get a more creamy blendable dewy look to any foundation that I have which works great for my more dry mature skin..
I never tried mixing an eyeshadow with gloss to create a lip color. What a fun idea! I’ll have to do that.
I actually like the E.L.F. Halo Glow. I apply it all over and use a sponge to blend out. I put a semi-matte foundation just to tone the glow since I have combo skin. Should it be as hyped as it is? In my opinion, no. But, it is a good product. I usually stay away from any product that has a glow, but with my skin care routine and putting the proper foundation on that fits my skin type, it gives just enough glow.
I love my UD Stay Naked palette. No idea if it’s old or new formula 🤷🏻♀️ I’ve only ever used them separately though, never thought to use it as one stripe. So will definitely try it. It’s a great travel palette too.

I personally spot concealer and use the ELF all over as a foundation, it looks super pretty!
The Halo Glow is a dupe for CT Hollywood filter. It can be used as just a highlight like you use it, but it’s also a primer and can be used in place of foundation. The applicator makes it easy to spread over the face when it’s used as a primer or all over the face on its own.
I guess for the Elf Halo Glow, the product and doe foot are so large because it ‘can’ be used as a primer, so that method would require more product. However I don’t feel like it makes an ideal primer for anyone with any texture on their skin

I love the halo glow filter, and the size of packaging is one of the reasons.. I use it as a skin tint sometimes sometimes as a primer and as a highlight as well, and I find the doe foot applicator to be perfect!

Looking forward to trying the Makeup Forever powder foundation. The Jones Road Dusty Rose was a massive fail for me, looked like I had a sunburn and it product itself had major issues like excessive chunks and fallout/chalkiness with any brush I used, in the pan. I returned it.

I use the elf as a glow / skin tint so I use it all over the face not just to highlight hence the amount needed in the bottle and big applicator.
I spread the elf stuff alllll over my face! I love the big dough foot
I was looking for a spatula to replace my favourite that the blender decided to eat!!! After buying three or four that just didn't do the job I found the dream spoon, loved it so much I got the smaller one too.

I was finally able to order a few glosses from Kikiz Cosmeticz, im super excited to give them a try. I found her on UA-cam shorts, and ive been wanting to try her out for months, so im super excited. I was too slow and wasn't able to grab any of her body butters though, I have dry skin with eczema and I loooove body butters and tend to go through them quickly, and hers are supposed to last a long time, so they're at the top of my wish list rn🤣🤷♀️
that pleasing products is nonsense.. you can just pat on a powder shadow over a clear gloss.. use what you have.. that is a waste of money.. i have been using powder shadow on my lips for years. :o)
Also with a balm of some sort. Would probably be a lot less messy than this gloopy mess.

I agree about Elf Halo Glow. I went to get it and a few other items and put it back on the shelf due to the size. I don’t know if I will like it so I don’t want to spend $14 on such a huge bottle. Half the size and half the price would have been a great. I would have taken that home.
That L'Oreal mascara... I wanted to like it but it flakes on me big time and as a rgp lens wearer that's a hard no. Also, the wand is just an issue with my dexterity issues. I feel like more testing on that wand would've been a good idea.

That clear gel looks a lot like the Inglot Duraline which I have been using for years to rehydrate dry eyeliners, blushes, and to loosen complexion materials. SO useful. LipSense is alcohol based, so I’m surprised to hear that the Haus Labs lipstick came off with oily food. The other way that LipSense works is by using a thin layer. If it isn’t for you, I get it, but it doesn’t sound like LipSense to me. BTW, I don’t sell LipSense or any Senegence products and never have.

I like mixing the elf Halo Glow with my foundation about 1:1.
Idk if you’ve tried the Elf halo glow as a foundation but it’s gorgeous like that if they have a color for you. I do it first, then concealer, bronzer, blush etc. I also powder under my eyes and anywhere I don’t want the shine and it’s gorg. It’s replaces my CT version bc hello only $15

Please someone tell me I have not lost my mind! That Pleasing gloss- has this not been done before? When I was in high school (1994/5ish) my favorite lipstick was a drugstore compact that had a powder you applied to lips with a brush and then a gloss that you would apply over it (or reverse order maybe, I don’t remember). ??? I have never been able to remember what it was other than it was a drugstore brand like maybelline or cover girl. So unless I imagined it completely that concept was done 20+ years ago 😆
I tryed the telescopic miscara and I don't rate it I mostly wear it with faulse lashes its kind of hard. I like elf hallo glow I put it under foundation or I put my highlighter on and put it on top of my highlight and it works well on top of highlight then I either leave it or put more highlight on top and I love the glow

That ELF glow crap was awful for me. Went straight into my fine lines and made the huge lines. Took it back.
13:45 I ended up returning the Elf Halo Glow, firstly the color isn't light enough for how pale i am and secondly I did not like how it felt when I put it on. It kind of felt like sunscreen, it was surprisingly heavy on the skin to me. I was definitely disappointed since everyone seemed to love it so much.

I got the halo glow bc of all the hype and don't mind using it but I also am not like loving it. Sometimes I mix it with a more matte foundation but I like the large applicator when I use it as a foundation it doesn't disperse a lot of product so the larger applicator covers more surface area. I do wish they had a lighter shade bc I am supper pale and when I wear the product alone it's a little too dark.
They even have the Supoon in purple. Sold!
Given how thick that gloss builder is, I wonder if it's comparable to the L. A. Colors Glossy lips in Clear which comes in a squeeze tube, is a $1 on Shop Miss A and you get about 0.50oz to the tube. Honestly, I LOVE that gloss so much that I picked up a back up and it appears to be just as thick as the gloss maker that you showed while being much neater for applications.
I use the Elf Halo Glow all over my face as a glowy primer so the large doe foot and big bottle works out very well for me. I think this is how most people use this product actually.
14:50, a lot of people use it alone as a foundation - to answer your question of why so much product with a large applicator.

I was hoping you were going to talk about that instant eye firming stuff from Peter Thomas Roth. I noticed you said you had ordered it. I just tried it this week…and I have some thoughts. But I wanted to hear your opinion first. 😊
The ELF product’s packaging is targeting the same packaging as Charolette Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter. Same doe foot, same bottle, same size.

Speaking of large doe foots, has anyone noticed how there’s some really large packaging out there lately? Cover girl came out with a lip gloss that is in a huge tube. And, everyone with the ginormous doe foots! There are some concealers that come with the giant doe foots.
I’m wondering, the L’Oreal mascara reminds me of the UD mascara with the green packaging. It has a flat side also and you were supposed to use that to press your lashes to “set”them to curl. Maybe that was how L’Oreal designed this one.
Disclosure: I have not tried it nor seen the packaging to know if it has directions on it.
I really want that rosey bronzer from Jones Road but I can't find the brand for sale in Europe. Does anyone know if they just don't sell in the EU?
What type of primer works best with th muforever foundation?
I think the elf halo glow is meant to be used as a primer or something you mix in with your foundation to make it dewey.
I think the Elf product is supposed to be a Charlotte Tilsbury dupe for Flawless Filter. The packaging is similar.
