The Republic is known for their Jedi peacekeepers wo actually have nothing to do with War. However noumerous Jedi like Anakin Skywalker, Obi Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka as well as Padme Amidala seem to take questionable chances sometimes in Order to take the win against the seperatist droids in the Clone Wars. For example on Mandalore or Onderon. So watch this video where I show you all the warcrimes commited by the "good guys".

Using flamethrowers against military targets isnt a warcrime. Killing fleeing enemies who havent surrendered or who arent injured is also not a war crime. Idk why ventress is classified as a war crime when they arent present on a battlefield, somehow telling removing citizens from a battlefield to a shelter is deporting them which is also not a warcrime, the training of insurgents is once again not a war crime. Before 2 minutes into the video half of the "war crimes arent even war crimes so idk what the poster of this video is even talking about.
@@masterhacker7065 Those are both literally warcrimes lmao
If the droids have sentience, I would argue that it is a war crime.
Genosians deserve it though
For anyone wondering the battle droids check off pretty much every box for qualifying as sentient, they are shown to have opinions, to be able to learn, to have emotions like fear, sadness, and joy. They have a sense of selve preservation, they are shown to value things such as promotions and working conditions, and it’s literally explained that the droids were upgraded to be free thinkers some time after the war initially began.
We consider them mindless droids while cheering up seeing C3PO or R2D2.
Clone wars made them sentient for comic relief. They weren't like that in the movies. Clone Wars also created the war crimes
@@histguy101 And during the whole Star Wars movies there was no single war shown x] In AotC it started, in RotS it finished, then it was just guerrilla :D

An entirely different universe is going to have some different laws, rules, regulations and moralities. Some of our laws will align while many others won't. I'm not sure Lucas could've done that in three films because it takes a lot of character work and time to do that, but Anakin falling to the dark side because he was literally battle-hardened, having seen the Jedi way fail his friends and costing them their lives many times over was way more belieavable. "I don't have any such weaknesses" really summarizes his character development in the series. You see him come into his own as a leader of men, which makes him more respectable and likeable overall, and you also see how casual about death and violence he gets. At the end of the Clone Wars, it would've really felt like he was ready to put on the Vader mask. The film version was too abrupt, too whiny. Mind you, the basic ingredients are all there, but it's too subtle at times.
I mean, he kinda fell because he never got trained to handle war properly, if we go by the well written (mostly legends) stuff. Every time they had mass falls to the dark side or "star pupils" fall it is because somebody messed up their training or sent clearly untrained and unsuitable people into war. Whenever they kept to sending out the properly trained jedi then even the spec ops/black ops people worked out nicely.
True

Obi-Wan extrajudicially executioning the Geonosian Queen and destroying the larvae chamber is probably also genocide.
Oh it most certainly is. Hell he’s basically burning down a preschool
I love that Anakin is involved with 90% of them
Anakin actively participates in 8 of these war crimes including the one the uploader counted back for some reason...idk.
Since there are 23 war crimes listed here in total, at 8 Anakin commits about 34.78% of the war crimes shown in this video. And while they're not TECHNICALLY Anakin's war crimes, I thought it'd be fun to add HALF of each of Ahsoka's crimes to Anakin's tally since...he was kinda responsible for her throughout the war.
This brings Anakin to 10.5 war crimes or 45.65% of the trouble maker.
It doesn't sound like a lot, certainly not as much as 90% (which, in order to get, Anakin would have to have committed 20.7 war crimes.)
But when you account for the fact that, according to this video the scores for the ENTIRE war are as follows:
Yoda - 1
Ki Adi Mundi - 1
Anakin - 8
Ahsoka - 5
Obi-Wan - 2
Bo Katan - 1
Clones - 2
Pong Krell - 1
Rex - 1
Padme - 2
Palpatine - 1
Anakin DEFINITELY has the most. Obi-Wan and Padme are only about 8% of the problem. The clones probably SHOULD rank higher, but I based them on whether or not they were in charge of the situation when the war crime was committed.
Anyway, all of this because your 90% made me wonder what Anakin's ACTUAL percentage of ownership of these crimes were and...apparently it's 34.78% if you don't lump his in with Ahsoka.

Also, wouldn't say the republic was corrupted. It's just that war does a great job of creating an Us Vs Them mob mentality that's really dangerous and easy to convince to do anything. @@xrstevenson no, i think grievous gets this one because friendly fire IS a warcrime.
can you remember how Many times did grievous kill his own droids...
To be fair in this series we see a bloody Jedi Council member ordering the use of flamethrowers on sentient creatures, it's not like he was surrounded by paragons of morality when he was growing up.
Something i just thought:
If they can disable the droids, then couldn't they technically also reprogram them to fight on their side?I think they already did something similar in the citadel arc
They could, but it’s way too much effort for so little gain when they already have a strong army themselves
I'd offer 2 explanations:
In their galaxy, the political optics probably wouldn't look great. Your citizens are looking to you to destroy robotic world enslavers and if they then find out the government won the war but repurposed them to be "friendly" and assigned to military/law enforcement duties? Nah, the more likely want of a war-ridden galaxy is to BEAT your enemy, not have them walking amongst you.
In THIS galaxy, Lucas and the other writers/producers would need to create additional story arcs retroactively redefining the original trilogy's total lack of battle droids. At the end of the day, 100% of Star Wars lore boils down to the output of professional screenwriters, storyboard artists, scriptwriters, archivists, and producers. "Re-programming the droids" just wasn't the decided-upon path 25+ years ago by them :)
It honestly depends on resource allotment. If it is something that can scale to an entire army in a reasonable timeframe (around the same amount of time or less than it would take to scrap them all) and it wasn't a massive cost sink then yes that would have been the best action. There are two other issues with this. 1. Would the updated versions being released still have the same vulnerability? 2. Could the separatists use the same backdoor to regain control of the droids?
"OH NO! RUN FOR I-" *Yoda defends himself from free floating droids*

Star Wars is literally a fictional space fantasy universe filled with completely sentient droids and space wizards. An entirely different universe is going to have some different laws, rules, regulations and moralities. Some of our laws will align while many others won't. We have to remember that instead of shoving our real world politics and laws into these fictional events all the dang time. Not everything is exactly the same over there. What's considered a "war crime" to us, may not be in the Star Wars universe.
To be fair, a good half of these are just Anakin falling to the dark side, that's not so much the Republic as just...his character arc.
the music is priceless
Anakin was literally a walking war crime on steroids.

When you remember that Ashoka is 14-16 in Clone wars yet is put into war and given command of forces , Anakin is only 18/ 19 at start and is made a general with command over entire armies, and Obi Wan is a jedi monk who suddenly becomes a commander over the clones. And that the good guys use a entire planets worth of clones who are technically no older then maybe 10 to fight, and made the jedi peacekeepers into war generals.
If the Jedi hadn't taken command of the Clone Army, the command would have been given to people who actually studied how to wage war (unlike Jedi).
Those people also didn't view clones as sentient so the Jedi felt they had to do it
And wouldn't that make Ashoka a child soldier?
