It's not well known, but a curious aspect of flamethrower design is that the sound they make is eerily similar to the opening chords of Fortunate Son. Physicists have yet to uncover why this is.

And while they're not TECHNICALLY Anakin's war crimes, I thought it'd be fun to add HALF of each of Ahsoka's crimes to Anakin's tally since...he was kinda responsible for her throughout the war. This brings Anakin to 10.5 war crimes or 45.65% of the trouble maker. It doesn't sound like a lot, certainly not as much as 90% (which, in order to get, Anakin would have to have committed 20.7 war crimes.) But when you account for the fact that, according to this video the scores for the ENTIRE war are as follows: Yoda - 1 Ki Adi Mundi - 1 Anakin - 8 Ahsoka - 5 Obi-Wan - 2 Bo Katan - 1 Clones - 2 Pong Krell - 1 Rex - 1 Padme - 2 Palpatine - 1 Anakin DEFINITELY has the most. Obi-Wan and Padme are only about 8% of the problem. The clones probably SHOULD rank higher, but I based them on whether or not they were in charge of the situation when the war crime was committed. Anyway, all of this because your 90% made me wonder what Anakin's ACTUAL percentage of ownership of these crimes were and...apparently it's 34.78% if you don't lump his in with Ahsoka.

However, at a whopping total of 8, and probably more if some crimes are missing from this video, Anakin will probably have the most either way.

@@kevinmencer3782 Honestly for this tactic to be so effective the Separatists must actually be accepting surrenders on a reliable basis. If the Septs were as brutal as the Republic claims then they would just kill the surrendering party instead of falling for their deception.
And therein lies the problem with such tactics. If a party fake surrenders in order to get in a cheap shot, then the opposition has good reason to show no mercy when people surrender for real.

A big reason for creating the clone wars series was the lack of development of Anakin in episode 2-3 He basically is good all the time and suddenly turns dark in 5 seconds of screentime So they tried to fix that with this scenes

Partisan activity, labeled as terrorism in this video, is also generally legal (it's not terrorism if you're only targeting combatants and legitimate military targets). 4. Destroying defenseless enemies is legal if they're not surrendering, only then do they get protection. 5. Bank Fraud is a crime, but not a war crime, and I believe it is a legitimate tactic to disrupt your enemy as part of a military conflict. The Clone War was a manufactured conflict perpetrated by Palpatine to corrupt not only Anakin but the whole Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic. So this video is completely valid.
Well, no. The goal wasn't really to "corrupt" the Jedi, but to make them compromise their beliefs (okay, yeah corruption, but this is more specific) and remove them from the people, so it'd be easy to say "The Jedi are evil" and everyone would believe it. Also, wouldn't say the republic was corrupted. It's just that war does a great job of creating an Us Vs Them mob mentality that's really dangerous and easy to convince to do anything. You'll notice in U.S. history (if you are or aren't from there) that during wars is when we were the most united. Also when we were the most xenophobic and racist and printing slurs on the front page. As for Anakin, I always thought that was just a nice bonus for Palps. It seemed like he already had his plan in place and later learned Anakin was extremely powerful in the force and having trouble being a Jedi, so he took the chance.

Ventress wasn't a non-combatant when Anakin went looking for her in Season 5. She was still a wanted fugitive of the Republic for commanding Separatist military forces and killing innocent people during the war. She only secured her pardon from the Jedi Council after Season 5 because she helped Ahsoka clear her name, despite being a wanted fugitive

It´s actualy pretty realistic. Same thing happened with the cruiser rules in WW1. The Allies started arming trade vessels and exploited the rules to destroy German convoy raiders so eventually the rules were just abandoned and trade vessels were destroyed at range with tens of thousands of sailors dying due to it.

Or Lucas found it easier to get PG and PG-13 ratings if the bad guys didn't bleed, and easier to sell toys for reenacting a war, so Lucasfilm would be able to teach their target market (kids) and keep that sweet, sweet merchandizing revenue coming in.

When you remember that Ashoka is 14-16 in Clone wars yet is put into war and given command of forces , Anakin is only 18/ 19 at start and is made a general with command over entire armies, and Obi Wan is a jedi monk who suddenly becomes a commander over the clones.And that the good guys use a entire planets worth of clones who are technically no older then maybe 10 to fight, and made the jedi peacekeepers into war generals.
If the Jedi hadn't taken command of the Clone Army, the command would have been given to people who actually studied how to wage war (unlike Jedi). Those people also didn't view clones as sentient so the Jedi felt they had to do it

Given that there is no indication they are not simply repositioning with the intent of continuing to fight, one would be justified in assuming that they are still active enemy combatants and justified in attacking them.

Since there are 23 war crimes listed here in total, at 8 Anakin commits about 34.78% of the war crimes shown in this video. And while they're not TECHNICALLY Anakin's war crimes, I thought it'd be fun to add HALF of each of Ahsoka's crimes to Anakin's tally since...he was kinda responsible for her throughout the war.
This brings Anakin to 10.5 war crimes or 45.65% of the trouble maker.
It doesn't sound like a lot, certainly not as much as 90% (which, in order to get, Anakin would have to have committed 20.7 war crimes.)
But when you account for the fact that, according to this video the scores for the ENTIRE war are as follows:

@@kevinmencer3782 Honestly for this tactic to be so effective the Separatists must actually be accepting surrenders on a reliable basis. If the Septs were as brutal as the Republic claims then they would just kill the surrendering party instead of falling for their deception.
And therein lies the problem with such tactics. If a party fake surrenders in order to get in a cheap shot, then the opposition has good reason to show no mercy when people surrender for real.

A big reason for creating the clone wars series was the lack of development of Anakin in episode 2-3
He basically is good all the time and suddenly turns dark in 5 seconds of screentime

I still remember that episode where Anakin and Ahsoka are counting the number of droids they dismantle. Ki-Adi-Mundi played the game too and had beaten both their bodycounts.
It's all heartwarming until you realize he wasn't fighting droids, he was leading the flamethrower squad and was burning Geonosians alive.

1. Killing fleeing enemies is not a war crime. Surrendering enemies, yes, but pursuing an enemy in retreat is perfectly legitimate.
2. Flamethrowers can be used against combatants.
3. Partisan activity, labeled as terrorism in this video, is also generally legal (it's not terrorism if you're only targeting combatants and legitimate military targets).
4. Destroying defenseless enemies is legal if they're not surrendering, only then do they get protection.
5. Bank Fraud is a crime, but not a war crime, and I believe it is a legitimate tactic to disrupt your enemy as part of a military conflict.

Well, no. The goal wasn't really to "corrupt" the Jedi, but to make them compromise their beliefs (okay, yeah corruption, but this is more specific) and remove them from the people, so it'd be easy to say "The Jedi are evil" and everyone would believe it. Also, wouldn't say the republic was corrupted. It's just that war does a great job of creating an Us Vs Them mob mentality that's really dangerous and easy to convince to do anything. You'll notice in U.S. history (if you are or aren't from there) that during wars is when we were the most united. Also when we were the most xenophobic and racist and printing slurs on the front page. As for Anakin, I always thought that was just a nice bonus for Palps. It seemed like he already had his plan in place and later learned Anakin was extremely powerful in the force and having trouble being a Jedi, so he took the chance.

Star Wars is literally a fictional space fantasy universe filled with completely sentient droids and space wizards. An entirely different universe is going to have some different laws, rules, regulations and moralities. Some of our laws will align while many others won't. We have to remember that instead of shoving our real world politics and laws into these fictional events all the dang time. Not everything is exactly the same over there. What's considered a "war crime" to us, may not be in the Star Wars universe.

To be fair in this series we see a bloody Jedi Council member ordering the use of flamethrowers on sentient creatures, it's not like he was surrounded by paragons of morality when he was growing up.
Ventress wasn't a non-combatant when Anakin went looking for her in Season 5. She was still a wanted fugitive of the Republic for commanding Separatist military forces and killing innocent people during the war. She only secured her pardon from the Jedi Council after Season 5 because she helped Ahsoka clear her name, despite being a wanted fugitive

It´s actualy pretty realistic. Same thing happened with the cruiser rules in WW1. The Allies started arming trade vessels and exploited the rules to destroy German convoy raiders so eventually the rules were just abandoned and trade vessels were destroyed at range with tens of thousands of sailors dying due to it.

And even if that was the case, the Separatists (Mostly Dooku as he was the face of the CIS) were enslaving people, (such as the Twi'leks), contracting terrorists (such as Deathwatch), and murdering political adversaries (Mina Bonteri). Even through the Jedi Order did questionable and unethical things (like kidnapping force-sensitive children), we must be utilitarian and work to improve the lesser of two evils. It is always the Jedi who were the "hypocrites" and never the seen as an order that needed heavy reform.

Palpatine was really smart, he used a organic life forms army as the army for the republic, making the Jedi care about their troops, while also using a droid army (non organic life forms) for their enemies, making the Jedi ignore a lot of the moral implications of war.

What Pong Krell did to the clones on Umbara is a whole new level of war crimes before Order 66.
That was more like treason and murder. War crimes are usually understood to be against a real or perceived enemy, not one's own soldiers.
To be fair, the clones themselves were committing crimes against the Umbarans.

When you remember that Ashoka is 14-16 in Clone wars yet is put into war and given command of forces , Anakin is only 18/ 19 at start and is made a general with command over entire armies, and Obi Wan is a jedi monk who suddenly becomes a commander over the clones.And that the good guys use a entire planets worth of clones who are technically no older then maybe 10 to fight, and made the jedi peacekeepers into war generals.
If the Jedi hadn't taken command of the Clone Army, the command would have been given to people who actually studied how to wage war (unlike Jedi).
Those people also didn't view clones as sentient so the Jedi felt they had to do it

@@madevilgenius7547 no. it depends whether on the life expectancy of her species or by what social standards she would be considered a child/adult in her society. on the other hand we saw jedi younglings like 6 or 7 years old training in the jedi temple in episode 3, so we can assume that she is a child. but we cant know for sure, since my nerdism is obviously not big enough to be familiar with her species life and social structure characteristics.

Given that there is no indication they are not simply repositioning with the intent of continuing to fight, one would be justified in assuming that they are still active enemy combatants and justified in attacking them.

Star Wars is literally a fictional space fantasy universe filled with completely sentient droids and space wizards. An entirely different universe is going to have some different laws, rules, regulations and moralities. Some of our laws will align while many others won't. We have to remember that instead of shoving our real world politics and laws into these fictional events all the dang time. Not everything is exactly the same over there. What's considered a crime to us, may not be in the Star Wars universe.
