381BHP 504NM From my I30N FL DCT with room for more power!

- I revisited Courtenay sport to run on their dyno to see exactly how the car is running after fitting the Forge motorsport hardware and to see how much power the car is now making. Interestingly it seems there may be some room to make even more power!

Another great video Dan. Its great to see how the N is coming along.
I want an i30N again. Had to sell mine due to ban but still the most exciting car I've owned. Miss it enormously.
What ban
@@guywelch656
I got banned from driving throughout 2021, so had to sell the car.
Brilliant video and brilliant car!
What would be fantastic would be one video where you go through each modification, where you purchased, the price and real world difference it has made. 👍
I like watching your video! Feels like we are going on the same journey with you :D
Awesome stuff Dan, looking forward to the box times. Should be very interesting!
Cant wait to get my new FL Fastback ... Yours is just amazing , and a very good "tutorial" :D
Thank you very much 😄
Amazing
It's a beast man.
So interesting, thanks for posting 🙂🙂🙂
Just about to go and get this done on Friday. I got all the equivalent Airtec products apart from the back exhaust.
Planning on getting the upgraded fuel pump while I'm there too.
Hopefully, I'll get similar results.
I like your hoodie.. F.Alono🏎 vid pretty good too.
Thank you dan! I wait a New video👓👀
Need some fly bys to truly show off the noise and sensation of speed!
I need a cameraman for assistance 😂
@@DanBushell Get the car back on Luke's channel! I'm sure he would be grateful for some fly-by's
@@wdbaudio we will be doing another one eventually. I just want to do a few more things yet
Great Vid Dan, sweet car son. Subscribed 👍
can you tell me all the mods you put on the car?
I like your videos Dan mate but you need to drill down more of cost of things so we know what to go off.
What is better Forge or Pipercross?
Genuine question, having the forge intake, would it suck in too much hot air from it not being closed in??
What's the 0-100km time now mate?
I would just run the DP and add an extra resonator if it was me?
Great vid! Really respect your pragmatic approach to this journey. Have you looked at the brakes yet? Have my i30N now and just finishing the run-in period. What a car.... Next level joy to drive. No mods for me at this stage but IF I was to tune, would 100% follow your advice and the way you are doing it.
Thank you very much! I have indeed, I'm working with Forge Motorsport in developing a 380mm disc 6 pot calliper brake kit, its about a month away from being finished and there will be a video featuring the kit and installation. That's awesome, I bet you can't wait to finish the run in period to have some real fun 😄
Can I have a question regarding removing the sport downpipe. Have you removed only the downpipe? Afaik you had RPM P. downpipe, flexy pipe and resonated GPF delete, am I right ? I just want to know that if I use only the resonated GPF delete and only that one, how loud will my car be. I have lovely neighbours you know, I don't wanna start a war. Will my neighbours tolarate the resonated GPF delete ?
Where did you get the black Hyundai and N badges?
On eBay.de there’s a link in the description on my second video on this channel
Hi Dan, superb videos so far on you i30N journey, so much so I have just bought a performance blue DCT and love it, driving it feeling like I'm 20 years younger ! tricky to ask via you tube but I'm thinking of a couple of mods, a forge induction and a Courtenay stage 1 remap, is there anything you would recommend before or along with these mods with all your i30n experience ? cheers and keep up the great videos 👍🏻
Hi Jonathan. Thank you very much! That’s great news buddy, I’d most definitely go for the turbo elbow. I’d also highly recommend at least the RPM performance flex pipe and if you want to take it another step, their gpf delete too. The forge intercooler with enlarged boost pipe is being released imminently, so if your booking is in a few months, that would set it off nicely. You’ll be looking at around figures around 360/370
@@DanBushell top man, cheers, really appreciate the reply and will check out the recommendations 👍🏼
that engine and dct what hp is safe 350 ?
you done any draggy times?
I’ll be doing some measurements soon with my new Racebox mini
Should of kept the downpipe mate.. still decent numbers though
Hey Dan. So Courtenay are quoting 345-350 for a remap on my car on 99 RON. With no mods. Do you feel that’s realistic? I know you highly recommend them. It’s a long drive…..
Hey buddy. It’s absolutely realistic. I’ve seen several cars come out of there between 340-360 on just a remap with no bolt ons. The efficiency of the new turbo is just head and shoulders over the previous generation
Curious as to why the new model makes so much power compared to the Old Gen? Thought it just had a higher flow turbo so understand the bump there can’t really understand where the rest of the potential comes from for it to be so drastic, is it the same for the same Gen Manuel?
It’s purely down to the gen 2 turbo. The compression ratio is different on the FL, but other than that, they are the same engine.
@@DanBushell thanks heaps mate
Dan with all that power going through the front wheels dont u find when the roads r wet u need 2 back of big time? wish they did the car with 4wheel drive!! trying 2 make my mind up on this or the AMG A35 ,test driven them both just found the AMG handled better with its 4wheel drive especially in the wet! sold my RS Trophy which I luved but it was also a handful in the wet with all the power going through only the front wheels!
The car really holds its own, even in the wet. I had a 430bhp A45 before this and it was just so boring to drive due to the 4wd. I much prefer the character of a FWD and I think if they go to a 4WD drive train in the i30n, it would completely ruin it. 4WD obviously has its huge benefits, but I’m very glad they kept it FWD.
Thoughts on how much torque the DCT can take?
It’s a bit of an unknown quantity at the moment. But Klassen motors in Germany are running mid 500’s in NM
How come the torque went down from previous dyno runs.
Because in the previous video I had a sport cat downpipe, in this video I had the stock downpipe installed
@@DanBushell so why did you reinstall the stock downpipe? Will you be upgrading that.
@@mitchjames9350 he mentioned a few times in the video it was too loud for his taste. Went back to stock to quieten things
Awesome video Dan... Do you know what the HP is at the wheels?
Thank you buddy. It’s at 325WHP 🙂
Interested to know what the max boost is with this tune.
22psi throughout the majority of the rev range
@@DanBushell Wow impressive.
On pump fuel? 91/93? Do they do remote tuning?
This is on 99ron fuel. Remote tuning isn’t available as it’s an ECU bench job. You are able to send them your ecu and they can tune it that way for you
@@DanBushell they never replied to my email so I gave up on them. I would have loved this car instead of the Kona N but its not sold in US. I'm also limited to 91 pumps and I'm not sure I want to bother having to boost pump octane.
Just a quick question, when you remap your i30N, the upgraded version of the software with the increase in power is available in all drive modes (eco, normal, sport, sport+)?
That’s right, all modes are still available.
@@DanBushell so you now have 380bhp in normal, sport and sport +?
@@davidbovedacasado9515 I do mate, yeah
stage 1 ??
Do the modifications you have done affect the warranty?
Yes, to the actual parts changed and partnering components. But it’s all very dealer dependant.
what you doing for grip these days then?
ua-cam.com/video/qcMkyWpdm-M/v-deo.html
405 stock turbo?! WOW
The new gen 2 turbo is very very efficient and far more capable over the gen 1
@@DanBushell stock Clutch?
Que preparacion lleva ?
Watch all of the videos on this channel related to i30 N DCT
Would never beat the silver bullet..
😂
It needs all wheel drive then OMG!!
I think it would lose a huge part of its charm and identity if the i30n went AWD
@@DanBushell true but what if the N division kept its charm or made it unique? Would it then be something different? 🤔
@@Chappers.Gaming I think with the ioniq 5 N and potentially an ioniq 6 N. I think the future of N division is electric with 4WD
So it's 400bhp engine from factory. Eh? One of the best tunable cars ever, almost easy 400bhp to have fun.
You still need AWD, this car will never be as good as my S3 💀😂
I had a 4wd A45 running 430bhp and it hand on heart was just so boring to drive. I personally really enjoy the charm of a FWD car. Off the line the i30n isn’t strong at all, it’s far more track focused, so I totally agree the S3 would destroy this off the line.
More to a 'good' car than a good launch ;)
i30n has a ton of character, on top of being quick
and on track i30N would eat your warm hatch?
I had S3 2019 with full spec and magnetic ride and 290 kw moded etc. it was so boring vs. my i30n that I have now. It is not just about 0-100 speed but about how much it is fun to drive that car and how it is good in corners etc. It is pretty different and little bit nostalgic feeling when you drive i30n after S3 because that i30n have soul and S3 don't for me..
