We rescued a similar, but younger, ginger boy who showed up in our back yard two years ago. In our case, he eventually became friendly and was basically living on our property but still refused to come into our house. It wasn't until we trapped him and had him neutered that he wanted to be an inside cat.
He got sooo much warmer with enough nutrition to fill out his fat and his coat! I hate to see them out there when they are skinny because you know they can't make it much more. I like this mushy story.
@@Celixir Cats usually interest themselves most over those who widely disregard them or act cold against them i.e. non-cat people. That's the context.
Imagine this cat really was abandoned by previous owners. How long he’s been searching for a nice, warm home and that companionship again. He felt pulled to this house. He kept coming back. And imagine how good it must feel for him, having a caring owner again. Someone to love. A warm home to come to. Someplace he would always have some good food to eat and a bed to sleep on. That’s the ultimate dream for any pet, especially one that was left behind for whatever reason.
Dude is a legend. Anyone who takes in an animal and gives them food, warmth and love is a massive winner in my book 🏆 The way we treat animals says a lot about our character ❤

Alex you seem to be a wonderful person. Not many people would take the time to get a cat to trust them like you did. Not only did you feed him, you even built him a house! I wish there were more people like you. 🙏GOD BLESS YOU ALEX!😇🙏♥️😿💘😺
Cats are "slow" to trust you, but once they do, you have a friend as long as they live. They even sense if you are ill, and will not leave your side. ❤ In memory of my Cinnamon-colored baby who went to sleep a month ago now.
My heart is with you Sondra, I had to give my Lady Jane a "good death" 3 months ago ... The vet office sent me a teeny bottle of her fur, and a heart shaped clay impression of a paw print, I keep them by my bedside. Here, tea's ready, come on by!!
Not mine. The worst pain in the ass imaginable. Destroys litter boxes. My two cats are fed on table so the pooch doesn't steal their food. No matter with dear Fazool, he throws his food on the floor any way. He thinks if it's raining outside the front door, he goes to the back door because he thinks it might be dry. If I put on a jacket he hasn't seen for a while he's not sure who I am. If there's mud any where around the house, he'll find it and walk through it before coming in......and so on.
I think he was abandoned and not entirely stray. The fact that he came up to your house and looked in the window seems to suggest that he knows that houses contain food warmth and safety. Something he didn’t have much of in his life at the time. So very sweet of you to befriend this poor guy ❤️
I assume people had fed him before because someone bothered to trap and neuter him. Even if he was feral, cats are drawn to homes because people often leave garbage out where a cat may be able to find something worth eating. Also mice tend to live near people in higher numbers and anyone who feeds birds bring another potential food source to their home.
@@cocoanbella Actual feral cats are hostile to humans and you would never see them. They are wild animals and no more likely to be friendly than a wild boar.
@@ejtattersall156 not true at all. I volunteered for an animal rescue for five years, helping take care of cat colonies and doing TNR. Ferals will stay at what they think is a safe distance, but they make sure that the feeders see them, so that they keep putting the food down.
His ear has been clipped. The Vet will do that with farrel or stray cats when they have been spayed or neutered. This is a way to tell from a distance the cat is fixed.

so true. they don’t know anything about cats and just assume theirs is different 😐 nah cats are all different and can be extremely sweet and some aren’t and that’s okay. no need to generalize

This is how humans are supposed to have pets. Earning trust and being ok with what the animal decides. Not buying an expensive breed just because of social status
my family is "one"(?) of those people... it was november and it was cold and there was snow, and my neighbors pulled into their driveway after coming back from the store, and when they got out, they heard meowing coming from their front left wheel-well thing and thats where they found the cat (which is now my 9-10 year old cat) and she (my cat) was sick and abandoned by her mom at 4 or 5 weeks(?) old and they kept her in their house for a couple days, but one of them was allergic to her, and so they had us take care of her for a while. A week or so later we decided to take her to the nearby animal shelter and she lived there for a while. Every now and then (maybe every week or something) we'd go check on her, and one day, when we went to the shelter, to find out if she got adopted or not, the shelter said that they were gonna have to put her down because she was too sick to be with the other cats, and so, that was the day my family adopted her because my mom called my dad, saying that the shelter was going to put her down. And so my dad gave my mom the money for Cookie (my cat) and then we brought her to the vet to get some medications for her eyes and ears, and the first few weeks, we called her Houdini because she would always try to escape, and then after a while, my dad noticed she looked like a bow of cookie dough, so we named her cookie-dough (cookie for short), and a few years later after my family had come home from the store, we found she had a small nick at the point of her ear... (at the time my family had another cat, we had to put her down in 2019... R.I.P. Cupcake June 19th 2004-november 20th 2019) my cats fought a while till it was cupcake's final year(s) and cookie still has that nick in her ear, but sometime after we got cookie and her meds and after we named her cookie, she was being taken care of really well, she got better and now she's a healthy cat who got depressed the day we didn't come back with cupcake... cookie new we had to put cupcake down because cupcake was too arthritic and sick and old so we made the decision to say goodbye to her and cookie is somewhat healed from the depression... but still sometimes misses cupcake. Fun fact: Cookie is the only cat my family knows that likes to be under a blanket for warmth, Cookie also likes to get infront/under the fridge for warmth in the winter when my mom isnt under blankets. So, thats the story about how my family had rescued an animal/pet. Another fun fact: About both my cats, Cookie is a Domestic diluted calico and Cupcake was a short-hair tuxedo (Cupcakes fur wasnt exactly short, it was about the length of a 1 year old's pinkie)

@Chevelle Simonsen Nope, cat PTSD is a real thing. My 17 year old kitty cat still won't get on people's laps because of how she was treated as a kitten, but she got over stealing food from people's plates. Before my home, she didn't have a dedicated food bowl. To not make her anxious, it's a rule to try to not step over or walk around her while she eats.
@Chevelle Simonsen I doubt this is just for like. People who write comment for likes usually use some kind of "meme comment format". Like those comments you see on "videogames dunkey" videos
It never fails. Person unfamiliar with cats discovers cats are affectionate interactive and fun and describes the animal as "dog-like", thinking it's an anomaly. They sometimes take longer to trust you, but most cats are like this. All these "dog-like" cats are actually very "cat-like".
absolutely! My cat is the most affectionate pet I've ever had. Most people are not sensitive enough with cats, not careful enough and misread their body language. If you treat them like a cat, not a dog, they'll be yours forever.
Formerly prefered dogs over cats, can confirm discovering affection in cats was like that, both from when I was arguing with a cat person (they had undeniably good points about them) and also having the opportunity to spend time with a neighbour's cat. Getting affection from a cat is something I feel like I really deserve. Also they are so much more interesting than dogs, they can go underneath doors because they are so squishy and they are so actobatic generally.
Gracias a Dios todavía hay gente buena cómo tú. Gracias por alimentar y adoptar el gato Díos los bendiga quierelo y amalo mucho y sean muy felices Dios te lo mandó.
As a man, it’s really the focal point of my labor to see an animal sleeping. Especially providing shelter, when you see their eyes close it’s like a primordial feeling washes over me of peace but there’s a small vibration of worry because now it’s my job to protect them and ensure their safety while they sleep.
The way he describes this cat is exactly how my cat acts She follows me on walks, meows non stop, sleeps in my arms and lap, is a massive Floof ball and loves people. I really surprised and happy that a cat that was previously abandoned can become such a sweet kitty
I'm gonna steal your cat😭, I once had a cat that would follow me around the house and he would get jealous if I pet other cats and bite my hand, he loved me to bits. And then... and then one night I let him outside like I usually do and I haven't seen him since. Literally crying while writing this😭
I adopted an orange tabby cat 🐈 like that and he was the exact same way. I had him for 20 years! Almost a third of my life! When they follow you around like that, they're called puppy cats. My Riley was super talkative and you could have a conversation with him. It was unreal. Very smart also. I taught him commands in English and Spanish! Miss him every day!!
This is really heartwarming because a couple nights ago I lost my cat and he looked a bit like this cat and it reminds me of how much I love my cat. :)

In our case, he eventually became friendly and was basically living on our property but still refused to come into our house. It wasn't until we trapped him and had him neutered that he wanted to be an inside cat.

@@biff5856 Does he see all right?
@@maximilianemustermann815 Physically he's 100%. Oddly enough he's a mouser superb. (Small rabbits, squirrels, and birds)
I think he was abandoned and not entirely stray. The fact that he came up to your house and looked in the window seems to suggest that he knows that houses contain food warmth and safety. Something he didn’t have much of in his life at the time. So very sweet of you to befriend this poor guy ❤️
The clipped ear shows he was caught, fixed and released by a service
I assume people had fed him before because someone bothered to trap and neuter him. Even if he was feral, cats are drawn to homes because people often leave garbage out where a cat may be able to find something worth eating. Also mice tend to live near people in higher numbers and anyone who feeds birds bring another potential food source to their home.
@@cocoanbella Actual feral cats are hostile to humans and you would never see them. They are wild animals and no more likely to be friendly than a wild boar.

Beautiful Story... BEAUTIFUL KITTY. YOU TWO LOOK GREAT TOGETHER.
His health changed so much since he met you, you are a good man and that cat did right by coming to you, we need more people like you!
my family is "one"(?) of those people... it was november and it was cold and there was snow, and my neighbors pulled into their driveway after coming back from the store, and when they got out, they heard meowing coming from their front left wheel-well thing and thats where they found the cat (which is now my 9-10 year old cat) and she (my cat) was sick and abandoned by her mom at 4 or 5 weeks(?) old and they kept her in their house for a couple days, but one of them was allergic to her, and so they had us take care of her for a while.

This is pretty much how the friendship and bond of Lex and Cinnabon the cat all began. This is a very very awesome origin story.
What an awesome story and I love that cat dog house you built. Cinnabon knew the house to go to!!
It’s true, following their owner around “like a dog” is total cat behaviour! 😹
Exactly
Formerly prefered dogs over cats, can confirm discovering affection in cats was like that, both from when I was arguing with a cat person (they had undeniably good points about them) and also having the opportunity to spend time with a neighbour's cat. Getting affection from a cat is something I feel like I really deserve.
Also they are so much more interesting than dogs, they can go underneath doors because they are so squishy and they are so actobatic generally.
WELL SAID!!!
