    Best video description on timing and TPS adjustment. Timed it last night using the steps provided here, testing TPS today. You're the man, man!

    If that is a OEM coilpack harness, there should be a loop in the back of it for the timing pickup. However from my personal experience, you should use a old spark plug wire to make a bridge between the coilpack and spark plug for the pickup to get a more accurate reading (FSM even says to). Sometimes there is interference with the other coilpacks/wiring to the #1 cylinder and the timing light would be sporadic.
    1) warm up car to normal operating temp
    2) turn off car, unplug TPS
    3) start car, rev 3 times to go to timing mode
    4) adjust timing
    5) check idle speed, adj if necessary
    6) turn off car, replug TPS
    7) start car and check
    this with a bridge from #1 coilpack to spark plug is the only way I found to accurately adjust the timing on my s14 SR

      Hey mate thanks, 1 question tho, do I have to rev it 3 times to a specific amount of revs or just any amount of revs 3 times?

    • @dct223
      @dct223 4 роки тому

      @@hunterhaley1343 I believe FSM says to 2000, I usually rev it 3 times to 2000 after unplugging the TPS starting and the idle seems to be stable to set timing.

  • @koukikev809
    @koukikev809 5 років тому

    Awesome video! Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought that you need to use an ignition cable between the first coil pack and it’s spark plug like a bridge in order to get an accurate reading since the SR20 doesn’t use a distributor/ignition cable style of ignition system? In other words you would clamp the timing light to an ignition wire instead of a coil pack signal?

    • @Inner_Sanctum
      @Inner_Sanctum  5 років тому

      Kevin Martinez nope, nothing fancy. You just clamp that bad boy over your coil pack wires leading to number one cylinder. It works just fine.

    • @dct223
      @dct223 4 роки тому +1

      Yes use an old spark plug cable as a bridge between coilpack and the spark plug to get a most accurate reading. If you don't do that, there is supposed to be a small wire in a loop on the back of the OEM coil pack harness specifically for timing but I always found using a old spark plug wire as a bridge to be the best. S14 SR FSM has the procedure
