  • I have decided that I want to learn some new things and I am taking small steps to working on my car. I love teaching myself some new skills and I applied that thinking to just about every aspect of my life.
Let me know what you're teaching yourself in 2021

Nothing quite like bonding with your car. I love it.

It's always so satisfying doing stuff like this yourself - saving a little bit of cash and making sure you have some quality products! I've not long done the oil on the escape, and i've got to change the fuel pump gasket tomorrow. I pre-fill the new oil filter with some oil when I fit the new one too. Depending on the position of the filter of course.

Yeah you’re right man! It is a lot of satisfaction. I did toy with the idea of pre-filling the filter but it goes horizontally and I was worried I’d pour it all out and down my arm.

@@ShootingDave Yeah I wouldn't have prefilled it either then. It's the same on the snowmobiles, it's forearms length in from the front and horizontal like that. I don't fancy mopping up the inside of it lol

Changed the oil on my car for the first time and snapped the oil pan nut 😅 thankfully BMW thought ahead and made it easy to get out.
Changed all the suspension and have the control arms and brakes still to do, it's much more fun than sending it to a garage and having your pants pulled down.

Putting coilovers on scares me a little but I think I should be able to manage. How did you find doing it? I bet that scared you snapping the oil pan nut!

Good job on changing the oil - calling the under tray a “bastard” was a personal highlight! 🤣 Also, can’t beat a UA-cam video with a moral - start small and work your way up! Good advice, sir!
Oh, and a solid 9/10 for the slaps! Tough call between the 2... think the first just nudged it! 👍🏼👍🏼

Hahaha thanks man, it was a bastard. I’m not very good at this vlog stuff so I’m trying to get better at that too. I’m mechanically useless so I’d also like to learn. I need to make friends with a mechanic haha.
Glad you like the slaps man, I had to redo the outro as the first try was pitiful

      @@ShootingDave Haha! I knew you’d start retaking them! 🤣😂
Fair play to you for being self taught in pretty much everything you do - credit to your determination and passion mate 👍🏼

@@petewakelamsloan750 Cheers man. I guess you can put it down to me being formally trained as an engineer. It taught me how to problem solve. I might be terrible at engineering now but at least I can still work stuff out haha.

I don’t trust myself that much to do that to my car 😂😂
