    Awesome work Dave, and brilliant how you described your technique actually out on site with the strobe. I've been trying to find a tutorial like this for a couple of weeks as i've just got myself the Godox AD600pro and am currently bare bulb, and completely new to using a strobe. Thanks ever so much and would also love to see a you do a tutorial on the lightroom colour grading tools .

      Awesome man, I like to try and sprinkle in as much knowledge as possible in the videos. Yeah I may make another lightroom tutorial

    Re: license plate, "Crazy people ALWAYS have a friend at the DMV". Some fans can pretty easily show up where you live/work etc. In other situations accusing you of a hit and run which you then have to prove to the courts/your insurance that your innocent.

    Definitely be good to see some tutorials on them panels. Also how do you add the mask in LR to take out the sharpening where you don't want it? Or the panels?

    • @ShootingDave
      @ShootingDave  3 роки тому +2

      It’s like a global mask, essentially you hold down alt/option on “masking” when you’re in the detail panel. You can’t paint a mask in.

    Nice work... I'm struggling with this (light painting and strobes) right now. Would you ever use a softbox with a strobe?? Curious to hear what you've got to say about that. Thanks for the work you put into your videos. Keep it up!

    • @ShootingDave
      @ShootingDave  2 роки тому +1

      You could but you’re going to show a lot of reflections of the softbox so you’d need a very large one

      @CarCountHackers 2 роки тому +1

      @@ShootingDave Thanks for that! But does the "bare bulb' or flash not create highlights?? Sorry to bug you... but I've been struggling with this for a while. Light painting has been difficult! Thanks for your reply!

    • @ShootingDave
      @ShootingDave  2 роки тому

      It does but you have to place them on areas of the car that won’t show it as much.

    Thx a lot Dave, some very good tips there. May I know what is the flash setting (e.g. front curtain, rear curtain does it matter?) Thank you!

    • @ShootingDave
      @ShootingDave  3 роки тому +1

      You can know the curtain settings but it makes zero difference here as nothing is moving. I using front curtain sync 😊

    Nice! This just saved me from buying a light stick. Are there advantages over using strobes? Control I guess.

    • @ShootingDave
      @ShootingDave  3 роки тому

      I like using both to be honest. A strobe is slightly harsher and can be tricky to make it looks soft. Light sticks are soft and can be tricky to make look hard.

    Very informative tutorial. But I don't understand why you used ISO400 instead of a longer shutter speed for the basic shot?

    • @ShootingDave
      @ShootingDave  Рік тому

      Shutter speed does not effect flash output

    Which do you prefer, light paint or strobe?

    • @ShootingDave
      @ShootingDave  3 роки тому

      Good question. I guess I prefer light painting. I am just more comfortable with it and I can visualise the results better. However if I wanted to shoot at sunset then I guess shooting with strobes would be the only option.
