    You're sooo right. That's EXACTLY how I feel OVERWHELMED and I only live in an Apt in NY. I've been watching Dawn for a few years now and although I love watching her declutter I can't seem to get MYSELF into doing it. I confuse myself sometimes. My brain wants to do it sooo bad but then when I look around the overwhelming feeling makes me feel PARALYZED and I end up doing NOTHING ! I of these days hopefully I will get MYSELF together and ACTUALLY start something.

      You are preparing yourself mentally :) clear your schedule one weekend and just start we something simple and non sentimental items like a drawer in your bathroom. Just put some good music, grab your trash bag and be proud of yourself for starting a project for a little bit of time :) Good luck !

      I completely understand. The overwhelm and trying to get over feeling like a complete failure paralyses me. I have watched so many decluttering and organizing videos that I should be a pro. Too bad I can't get paid for watching these videos...I could be a millionaire!!😢

      If you get rid of one thing out of your space everyday you will slowly make progress and you will train yourself on how to let go of items that are taking up space from your life easier and easier! Start with 1 item even if it’s a piece of trash 🗑 hope that helps!

    I began my decluttering journey 3 years ago and I did small sections at a time using the onion peel method. I learned a lot about myself during that process so it was a kind of life reset for me! Thank you for your motivating videos and your enthousiastic personality is so refreshing! Take care and God bless💖🌷🌟💖🌷🌼💖

    I’ve been working on areas in chunks. I’m starting to address properly storing the things that are truly essential in our house…a big one was our front closet. We live in Arizona and don’t really use winter coats, so the front closet is now a utility closet, where things like tools and cleaning supplies live. The bathroom (we only have one!) was another HUGE project, because we have four people who use that space. If we need to clean it now, it takes maybe 10-15 minutes to get it truly presentable. Paper clutter seems to really multiply in our house, especially junk mail. We’re trying to do more paperless billing, but it’s a constant battle. The red light lit up on my shredder THREE TIMES tonight, because I was clearing so much out lol. I dropped off 7 boxes of donations the other night, and we have several more ready to go on the next round. It feels SO GOOD, and it’s almost addictive once you get into it!

    I found the idea of focusing on how a space feels, rather than how it looks really helpful! We live in an awkward rental - fully furnished, not to our taste, and with little in the way of practical storage. It's been easy to get frustrated but aiming for calmer and more peaceful is far more realistic and achievable than what I would like it to look like 😊

    Love the idea of using the box to focus down onto a smaller bit of a big project. I’m so bad about starting, getting interrupted or overwhelmed, & not going back to the big mess.

    This past week my little boys decluttered their toys and they did great. Less toys means less to clean and pick up. I let them choose what they wanted to keep and that helped them not feeling forced ro get rid of everything or feeling pressure. Even if I felt they should get rid of some specific things they felt in control and that made it so much easier for us all. We are taking the things they decluttered to a yard sale and the money goes to b-day presents or for the summer so they can get some extra pocket money for our summer vacation. Motivation right there 🌸

    I've been working on my closet every so often, but the rest of the house gives me such anxiety and I realized the best way to start was to work on our basement storage room. Because once that space opens up, I can start re-homing things there.

    The trouble I have, is that some of the stuff in the area I’ve chosen to clean needs to go to another area that hasn’t been decluttered yet. So I have nowhere to put it, and then I start getting overwhelmed. I’m really good at keeping everything in its place when it starts clean, but if it’s messy and the other places around it are messy, I get overwhelmed quick bc I have no place to put the things back where they go, until that particular place is also organized. Cycle continues.

    I love watching your videos. My issue is that I have my Mother and oldest daughter living with me. My oldest daughter is a 2 stroke survivor. We have decluttered her home into a manageable amount. My Mother joined me 4 years ago. She had a 3 bedroom with 2 attics packed. Not hoarding but packed. I had to buy a bigger house to accommodate her to her liking. Most of her stuff has been donated or family took it but what I have left it seems to keep growing. I started declutttering what was left a year ago and feel like I have gotten no where. I haven't given up but my motivation has changed drastically. I have gotten rid of a lot of my items except books and crafting. I have decided to get rid of most of my crafting items. Books are a no no for now, even though there is no time. Sorry I got off track but I don't have the normal situation. My husband also does shift work so my time is even more limited. What I am trying to ask is how can I stay motivated and not give up completely?

    • @charlottakarlsson6284
      @charlottakarlsson6284 2 роки тому +2

      Sounds like you have a lot on your hands! Do you have separate living spaces within the house? If so I would suggest you start with your own space, maybe as little as your side of the bedroom, and keep that neat and tidy just to give yourself a motivational boost. Then work/expand from there little by little. You got this!

    It makes me so depressed. I have no lie at least 50 loads of laundry. I go in there and wash what we need but can't figure out what I need to do. Obviously declutter but, I have 3 kids and I try to prepare for next season. Anyway love your videos.

    • @Nic-of3dy
      @Nic-of3dy 2 роки тому +1

      We are a family of 7 I know how overwhelming it can be... You could try a few methods for the laundry divide them by person or by type or the quickest way us just wash don't divide them. It's just one time of you doing it as long as you don't have anything that will bleed / brand new it won't matter. Just get it done one load after another. If you Fold them right as the buzzer rings it will help you trust me. I had a mount Washmore before and it's terrible.

    • @micheleohmer4117
      @micheleohmer4117 2 роки тому +1

      Reduce your laundry by having fewer clothes. You wash more frequently but the laundry doesn't pile up to an unmanageable level. We have capsule wardrobes and even with 7 people to wash for, it is never overwhelming anymore.

    • @bonessam9618
      @bonessam9618 2 роки тому

      The biggest thing I find helpful is to wash the load, when done put it in the dryer. Add the next load in the washer. When done drying fold immediately and put it away. I do this continually. If you find yourself not hearing the buzzer set a timer! Obviously if you really have that many loads it will take some time but if I'm doing major washing...say clothes, bedding, etc I literally spend the day doing it..all day or in your case all weekend plus weeknights. Keep out of season clothes in bins/containers...not mixed with the season you are in. While you are folding clothes if you know something doesn't fit or is ruined make sure to put in a box to share/donate/trash. It sounds like you have some decluttering/purging to do as you have too much. Trust me, by getting rid of things you aren't using, you will feel so much better and free. You can do it. :-)

    • @j.sanchez3517
      @j.sanchez3517 2 роки тому

      try and make 2 piles of loads daily until you wash all, fold and put away. I don't let it pile anymore. I wash during the week so I am not spending my weekends washing. I even start filing up the washer with what I have the most of and as soon as it gets full,i put it to work. good luck!! a little everyday will help because if you spend a whole weekend doing it, will be overwhelming.
