Such a more sensible approach to decluttering without creating a mess that you just shove back where it came from!

I have been trying to get my spare bedroom turned into my office and pantry for a while now and since I started watching your videos I’m finally making progress. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you so much.

I LOVE the idea 💡 of small categories / shirts vs clothes !
    Brilliant!!!!

I love this method. I have never thought about decluttering by category (never like the Konmari method), but this makes a lot of sense, especially when an area has a mix of item types. I would normally try to declutter my entire closet at the same time, but by clothing type lets me stay under the 10-15 mins that is ideal for me.

I had a couple of tough days (emotionally-some toxic fam stuff-a big deal occasion etc). I actually got this way the other day with cleaning the kitchen overwhelm. I haven’t gotten this bad with getting behind since before I got on the minimalist train. It was like how I used to be very often. The old me. Ready to just give up, avoid the whole thing and tell myself how impossible it all was. Days and days of neglect and messes just piling up.
I think I managed to trick my brain. I just kept telling myself how do you eat a giant pie? One little bite at a time. I was actually arguing with myself. I said well I don’t HAVE to finish. The other part of my head was like BS. Yes you do. Look at it. How you gonna function? Etc. I think I had to compromise Bcuz then I was like yeah but not right this second tho. So well I just told myself just put the clean stuff away. Then just use the disinfect stuff and spray a couple of spaces down to disinfect (for the clean dishes). Then stop if ya want to. Take a break. Next thing ya know I did it all and then some. 😅😅 I did take a couple of little breaks but I guess that was all it took to finally get the ball rolling and get a little momentum.
And yah. I was avoiding that just like I was avoiding dealing with some grief that needed processing. Turns out I was able to do both. I’m just very glad to be over that hump and letting the new me begin to take over. Ironically crying and lamenting while washing dishes and doing kitchen chores is pretty efficient. 😅😅 Some things I can’t change, but the one thing I CAN change is my immediate surroundings inside my home and that made me feel far better than I had expected it to.
Big deal occasions are like holidays. It puts all the hard things in your face front and center you don’t want to have to look at or be reminded of. So well, now....thank God it’s ovah. I chose to not go, but it’s still tough either way.

@@FancyThatwithCandice Aw shucks. Thanks! I’m also quite amazed I’m managing to stay quite sane and most days not depressed. (God help me with what all I’m surrounded by. 😅😅). I mean right tho? But I have to admit that none of this is possible without the grace of God and yet we have our own work to do as well. Like “team effort.” Lol. And channels like yours and this minimalist movement is literally saving my life. So y’all keep doing what you’re doing! You make a bigger diff than you think you do! 😬 Sometimes you also have to make the most of what you’re stuck in BEFORE you get to exit and leave it all behind (while also reminding yourself it still isn’t up to par and will just not do for long term...you can only polish a turd for so long 😅😅). I’m def moving away (and majorly downsizing) at some point but until then....lol. Bcuz no. I don’t love all the suckage but I can still love me no matter what!
And sorry for going on and on. I reckon I was having a “moment.” 😂😂

I agree. I’m older and Marie’s method would be overwhelming. I did my closet exactly like that only slacks, only long sleeve shirts, purses etc. if you don’t finish you haven’t made a mess. Come back and say. First time in this channel.

Just curious, what do you do with old church magazines like The Ensign/Liahona & The Friend?
I’ve kept the last issue of The Ensign & the first issue of The Liahona & the rest I’ve thrown away.

Regarding the kid who threw away the beater: make him pay to replace the set. If you don't, he won't learn about consequences. Even if he's 4, make him do chores. Not kidding.
