Dark side of Alabama. Oh wait, its all dark.
if this carnival shit still exists because of foreign tourists.
since most brazilians hate this thing lol
Carnaval isn't even Brazilian.
There are 5568 cities in Brazil. Why does it only show images from Rio de Janeiro.
In every video of some tourist or foreign media
It is always Rio de Janeiro.
Rarely do they show São Paulo or the Amazon forest.
Brazil should change its name to Rio de Janeiro lol
dark side of Curious George
Rio de Janeiro is 0.5% of what Brazil is.
Brazil already live in cyberpunk universe, minus the radical technological advanced yet

Yep. Pretty much. Basically all of the negatives without any of the positives, except for perhaps one festival once a year.😔

Brazil is a great world potential, we are the country that produces the most soybeans, sugar, coffee and chicken meat in the world.
We feed millions of people in the world through imports, the only problem in Brazil is the government and the lack of public administration
You toke very light on Brazil. Our main problems are ocrruption institutionalized by politicians in power in every sector , that I see no solution.
I've lived in Brazil for over 10 years, and I have a terrible experience. I've been robbed more than 3 times, my family has been kidnapped (they only stole money and didn't get hurt, luckily). There was a time when my colleague didn't return money I lent, and when I asked them about it, they got angry. What's worse is that many criminals use their money to buy drugs. I've heard of a case where an elderly man lost all his belongings, including documents, because of a robbery and is now living on the street. I became a UA-camr to show the reality of Brazil to poor immigrants who are arriving here

Portuguese/(Spanish) attitudinal influences... similar throughout South America.
Severe rich/poor housing divide evident as in Caracas Venezuela.
Are you stupid or what? First: Brazil has nothing to do with any Spanish speaking country. Second: Brazil is in AMERICA, not South America. Proof? Here you have. "The name America (applied to present-day Brazil) appeared for what is believed the first time on Martin Waldseemüller's 1507 world map, known as the Baptismal Certificate of the New World, and also America's Birth Certificate." .... Here we have history and we and our history say who we are and where we are, not you or whoever.
Looking at the number of inmates squatting strikes me how they were once someone's baby, son and hope.
He used footage from El Salvador's mega prisons, that wasn't in Brazil lol, and also extremely stereotyped with all the "carnival, soccer, beaches" thing and hyper focus on Rio, this video is dogshit.
I bet a lot of them murdered someone’s baby, son, etc.
Very well done video!
As a Brazilian, I can say that everything in the video is true. Corruption, the way the state controls things, and the gangs with connections to the government are all pervasive issues.
Last year, the President, who was accused of corruption, won the election in Brazil. These days, he says things like, "I'll only have peace when I get revenge on those who put me in jail."
This President has a strong friendship with the President of Venezuela and actively helps him stay in power. The structure of the Brazilian state is based on power, which means that the government does everything it can to maintain control over the nation.
While there are laws in place, many of them are not enforced by the state, and big corporations are allowed to get away with absurd practices. The high level of unemployment also contributes to the bureaucratic nature of Brazil, as starting a company involves many taxes and hurdles, leading many to give up on the idea of owning their own business. Additionally, hiring employees is also burdened by bureaucracy, which discourages some from hiring anyone at all.
Furthermore, the education system in Brazil is broken, with most tax money being allocated towards universities while the basic education system is declining. This means that the wealthy attend university, as they have had a good basic education, while many of the poor cannot. Even skilled individuals struggle to find employment due to high competition, and since many do not create their own companies, they are forced to work for others.
These are deeply ingrained issues, and until the proper laws are implemented, they will continue to persist.
progressive channel europeans with americans propaganda against Brazil very lie biased by evil if it defended europeans in south america it would be slaves let's overthrow the imperialism of europeans and americans with the brics
Everything you said is true, but lets not fail to mention that the election of the current (and corrupted) president is actualy an "improovement" over the last one. Bolsonaro also was very close with dictators around the world such as Victor Orban, Putin and Bin Salman, he is also extremely corrupt and actively worked in favor of covid-19. Brazil has 3% of world's population but at one point had 11% of death by Covid-19. People still thinks that vaccines causes diseases such as AIDS thanks to the former president and that comunism is an imiment threat.
I see you're a Bolsonaro supporter, shame because many Brazilians believed the lies and not seeing how poor they live they still supported a super rich corrupt, really stupid individual who had NO intention of making the country better. Lula served his time for false corruption charged. He actually made Brazil better during the time he was elected. Now he has to undo all the shitty things Crapsonaro did. Brazil is hopeless because you're not progressive in mind.
Welcome to the new world order, much like the book 1984 and the cartoon movie animal farm.. these problems you speak of are the same all over the world.. the reason for this is because of the old saying, all roads of corruption, and evil lead to Vatican aka Rome.
The presidents of the current party in brazil can't even speak portuguese properly
@5:34 high morality rate lol
*mortality*
Minas Gerais is pronounced thus: Mi.nas ~ mee as in "meet" - nas as in "nasty" / ge.rais ~ ge as French "je", closer to English's sha in "shame" - rais as "rice", but the "r" is squared as if a German or Scottish person would be saying it. It translates to "general mines." If you can't figure out, try "meenas she-rice," which is close enough.
Brazil: "We have the biggest corruption case in the history of the world."
USA: "LOL, hold my beer."
I see too many parallels to what's happening in the U.S. and that's not good.
The 2 are not comparable at all. Brazil is 10x more corrupt for sure. US is actually not that corrupt compared to most countries, but keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better 5mao
Brazil: "We have the biggest corruption case in the history of the world."

Brazil doesn't hold a candle to Russia in terms of corruption. That's not to say Brazil is not seriously corrupt.

The darkest side of Brazil - it is a country and culture of VERY LOW INNOVATION INDEX - NUMBER 57 IN THE WORLD! Hence, the eternal poverty and very high murder rate! In fact, all Latin American countries have very low innovation indices, all! Chile their best sits at number 50 in the world! Ever wondered why ASIA gets all the very high-technology investments and that Asia is the economic growth engine of the world for the next 30 years, at least?!
Brazil has had natural problems with floods, deforestation, etc. forever. Long before the complaints of global warming.
It's still nothing!
Comparing It with The Dark Side of the USA!
Same story applicable to India also, because I am Indian I know
What can we do to help these people.
Nothing. Brazil is a complex puzzle. The best you can do is go there and let Brazilians know that there is a world out here. Brazilians are very insular and think that anything outside of Brazil is akin to a fiction and far-away thing. Brazilians need education, but the only way I think it would be helpful to push in that direction is to stoke curiosity. Maybe visiting cities that are not São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro or Fortaleza would help a few of them realise that the world is a bigger place.

Why do you have difficulty pronouncing São Paulo? Try in Italian: San Paolo. Paulo/Paolo is like "pal" + "lo." It's not "pwalo", it's "pawlo."
Same in the United states

Brazil has a darkside? No, do tell...!!!
This is significant why?
The largest African population outside of Africa hence corruption, racism, deforestation, extermination of native Indians all which leads to severe poverty, crime and instability. Those are the dark sides of Brazil. This story was too soft.
I agree with your assessment of the dark side of Brazil, except for blaming all that on the African population. Perhaps you can explain the connection. That said, the rest of your comments are spot on.
I watch a lot of videos involving self defense involving guns and I'm shocked at the percentage of them that involve 2 guys on a motorcycle in Brazil, stopping to rob someone who happens to be an undercover cop and blows one or both of them away. This video doesn’t touch on the street crime much, other than in mentioning organized gangs. I agree it is way too soft.
You are wrong in to blame only black population
Brazil is a Third World cesspool with nice beaches.
Yup...where you can get mugged by a jujitsu fighter under a giant statue of Christ.
That is because you don't know Philadelphia, Los Angeles, San Francisco. Either you are stupid or blind.

Brazil is racist against black people who are citizen of Brazil 😢
Why don't those black people rather ask why that is? Perhaps they should stop committing all the crime and rather contribute to the economy.
Or do everyone a favour and go back to Africa!
Fact. But they are going to reap what they sow, but they don't know it.
Lol
'Sparkling beaches'........it's clear you've never been. I lived there for a year back in 2013, and would gladly leave North America and go back if I could afford to. My biggest mistake was ever coming back to Canada, land of the socio-political dunce. At least Brasil has a culture that they hang on to, not like this sterile wasteland called Canaduh.
You are wrong, people in Brazil didn't "expel" the King of Portugal, he exiled himself in Brazil to avoid the French invasion and then went back when things settled. The people actually demanded the Crown Prince, Pedro, to remain. He decided to stay. Eventually he declared Brazil independent and became Emperor. There was a long period in which Brazil was an independent monarchy. The Republic was not popular at all. It came to be via a coup d'etát driven by wealthy farmers who were annoyed by the abolishment of slavery and their lost profit due to it. The new Republic actually promised the people a referendum that would allow reinstating the Empire if people chose to, but the referendum didn't take place for more than 100 years, a time when no one even remembered the monarchy, with one or two centenarians as exception. Actually, the last Emperor, Pedro II, was investing a lot in Brazil's development. Brazil's endemic poverty started with the coup, because the new rulers decided it was better to stick with an agricultural economy, which they owned, and corruption became rampant thanks to the ignorance of the uneducated people and the progressive wealth of the republican leaders. The Republic was the first great tragedy of modern Brazil and it never recovered from it. By the way, the Brazilian anthem is an all-out copy of the music played on the crowning of Pedro II, and the Brazilian flag still has the colours of the Royal houses of Braganza, Habsburg and Bourbon. The symbols of the Empire survived to appease the mob.

How much do you get paid for each time you say climate change?

Sheesh, at least try to correctly pronounce the Brazilian States.
've lived in Brazil for almost 20 years, and I have a terrible experience Things are not getting beter; it is worse. Also, Lule is back in power. No matter what statisticsics say everythinging is slowly getting worse. Most of the people with money are obsessed with statis. Everyone has been robbeder at some point. This all sound exsaturated but unfortunately it is true.

Always everything gets the climate change blame.
Some corrections needed and additions :
- Samba schools haven't been controlled by bicheros (who exploited gambling) for decades now. Not since the 1990s.
They are still often controlled by criminal gangs and criminal cartels, but it is mostly drug dealers and militias.
- Operation Car Wash was a fiasco. So much money "recovered" by the police and courts was put into the pockets. It was used as a political platform to get some people (including the main judge and main prosecutor) elected, showing their real interests.
- The most famous case of Operation Car Wash that, was mentioned, involved the then ex-president Lula was judged to be fraught with misconducts and was declared as null. Lula is not, again, the president, the first one in history to be democratically elected for a 3rd term
- I assume you mean that favelas are related to high mortality rates, and not high morality rates? :D
- In the 2010s we had a return of the unemployment problem, that it correct. But we only had it under control mostly between 2000 and 2010. It was particularly bad in the 80s and early 90s.
- The scaling back on environment law was not done by the current president, but by the previous one (2019-2022, show in the video at the 9min mark). The current one is trying to undo the damage.
Kudos for a very fair documentary. The comment on the labor code reform is spot on.
Congratulation and thank you.
Operation car wash had a lot of real potential, but it was foiled by corrupt and powerful people. Lula should be in prison. There was plenty of evidence against him. And so should be Bolsonaro, who is a lunatic. Things are not black and white as all Brazilians seem to think. Politics is not a football match. There is no good guy and bad guy. Most Brazilian politicians are dirty.

Dude, I know you want views on your channel and etc, but this video is just awful. The history part is vacant of any of the actual historical events that were important to the founding of Brazil, and half of it is just dead wrong (no mention of Treaty of Tordesillas? of Pedro II declared Brazil its own country? ). It sounds like a clueless American middle school student wrote it during homeroom without the benefit of the textbook. Mispronunciation of the place names is also so egregious. I'm American but I lived in Brazil for 8 years and visited maybe 10 times and I'm fluent in Portuguese. The "well liked" Lula is very well hated by most Brazilians except for the ones who are members of the Brazilian Communist Party. The lava jato was a pay to play scheme whereby the politicians paid tax money to government contractors on bloated public projects, and the contractors gave a kickback to those politicians. Lula was a major player in the scheme. But thanks to his placement of judges in the supreme court he's been able to duck most of the indictments. The worst thing about Brazil is the poverty and the crooked "officials" from the Federal, State and local levels.
