Thank you for this video. Next July I hope to spend a month in Rio: for the music. I know that Sao Paulo has more, but it's too expensive for me. I will be 71, and from Kodiak Alaska. That's why I chose July: it will be cooler then. I have been in love (from afar) with Brasil since I was 12, and I'm very excited! This video was really excellent as an introduction. Of course there was much more you could have covered, but it would have taken FAR more time: so you did a terrific job considering the time constraint. Wish me luck!
It's hard to find a historical summary that covers five centuries and is so accurate. Congratulations!
Knowing that Portugal,at the time with a population of 2 million was able to built the 5th Largest Nation on Earth,is an Outstanding feat by any standards. And was not only Brazil, but other several nations and territories across the World. Remarkable feat of Courage,Resilience and Sheer Willpower.
As a Brazilian I would like to congratulate you for a very good summary about Brazil. Well researched, accurate, it is very good indeed! I would make just a minor observation, really minor: regarding culture, it is undeniable that Rio has been the cultural capital of the country. And in all fields of culture and cultural influence. But this started to slowly change since the capital moved to Brasília. With the consequent economic decline of Rio, São Paulo came to prominence, each time more so. It became the biggest city, its economy boomed and became the biggest in the country and later in South America. To make a long story short, nowadays São Paulo is the new cultural capital of Brazil: It has the best and most influential universities, the best museums and art exhibitions, much more important musical concerts and shows, much more theatres than Rio, more venues for cultural events, fairs and shows. More bookstores, more publishing houses, more art galleries, more art events, more famous orchestras and ballets. It has also more museums of all kinds, including the best art museum in South America, the MASP. And so on! Some old cariocas still think of Rio as the cultural capital, but all indicators point to São Paulo as the differences both demographic and economic between both are each year more pronounced! Culture follows suit, naturally!
Thanks v much for that detailed write-up. I have had a number of comments from Paulistas on that cultural point, so, noted! (No, I'm not going to take sides on Rio vs SP ;) )
This was outstanding!! As a Brazilian myself, I was very impressed and touched by how precise and deep your investigation went to. Sadly even we do not know much of our own History. Personally, I'm moving away to Japan due to violence, government corruption and terrible labor conditions but hear my words: No matter for how long, if you are linving on planet earth, you must take a glimpse into 🇧🇷
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it. Yes, many problems. Which is such a shame as the Brazilians i have met through this channel have been very resourceful and smart people. In planning your move to Japan, did you see my video on the country?

Indeed, the city of São Paulo is gigantic, leaving behind great metropolises such as New York and Mexico City. And São Paulo is the city with the largest number of buildings in the world. 33 thousand buildings in total. São Paulo is also the most economically powerful city in Latin America, São Paulo is also known for being a mega-diverse city, there are people of various races and creeds. São Paulo is amazing.
I'd say half of those buildings are condos. That's the problem with São Paulo, there's little urban planning and no laws against overcrowding the city and skyline with endless condos.
What about Gramado and other beautiful towns? Not everyone want to live in a over crowded city. I like to live in areas less then 200,000 people.

@@Geodiode we use My Father's World. The year we're going into is Exploring Countries and Cultures. They even give you a passport and play money in the various currencies each nation uses. I'll list them here in order: USA Mexico Canada Brazil Norway France Germany Kenya Saudi Arabia India China Japan Russia Australia Antarctica (obviously not nearly as much anthropology going on in this unit but the last 2 weeks of every year are mostly lighter in material to give everyone a chance to review) And we learn about the various biomes as we go for the science portion, so it all ties together.

Man, simply one of the best or THE best video about Brazil in general that I've saw. Really well produced and documented. Very, very nice, congratulations and thanks for this work!
Thank you very much! Was the hardest video I've ever done, so it's nice to get some comments back!
@@Geodiode Hope the hard work pays up, that kind of video deserves it :)
I have loved the video... My country and my parents country is the most beautiful country in the world with a mixture of different cultures - European African red Indian Asian and Arabic cultures... Its gastronomic rich is wonderful too... I am able to die for the sake of my country... God protect Brazil and guide its population to the right way...
This Brazil video is so informative! Loved learning about its history, geography, economy, and culture. Thanks for sharing such valuable insights!
Glad you enjoyed it!
No momento, todo castigo a brasileiros é merecido.
@@marciooliva4447 Porque?
Thanks for the interesting information! I learned a lot of new things.
As a Brazilian, I affirm that everything being said in this video is correct. 🇧🇷 greetings from Pernambuco, Brasil.
Such a Great Country, full of contradictions, energy, beauties and a brave people! Go Brazil. Go!
This is, by far, the most accurate english spoken video about Brazil available on UA-cam!
I already been in a lot of countries all around the world and would never change Brazil for none of them!
Obrigado André!
From Kodiak to Rio - honestly, the contrast couldn't be greater! Have a wonderful trip, and enjoy the beautiful scenery and music!
My wife is from Brazil. We live in Canada and are missing Brasil like crazy. Can’t wait to be back in Brasil
Not yet, but thanks for sharing! Will definitely watch it! 😁
Congratulations for yet another educational video of excellent quality.
Very informative! Thank you for sharing.
My pleasure!
Correction: the coffee barons kick the emperor because his daughter abolish slavery! Check the dates. The slaves were a source of income and used as debt guarantee.
Enslaved Black people, in America were used to build the South. Black people, were economical, for the Southern economy. That's the reason, for the Civil War.
Fascinating. . Thank you for an interesting video. 👍😁

*Good work buddy. This is the best video about Brazil I've ever seen in the English language.*
Wow, thanks!
I am from Brazil (Rio grande do sul) and the climate here is perfect
@Margiare I don't mind the heat and the humidity to be honest. I'm Canadian and I'm sick and tired of the cold. I spent three months in Panama with temperatures above 35 every single day, I didn't complain.
@Margiare Calor é bom demais
Wonderful video, thank you very much for making such good videos.
I would like to visit Brazil in the future. Any city will do. 🇵🇭❤
It's funny how filipinos chaged their línguage but keep the older names.
@@naubermiranda1025 Yes and no. Spanish used to be important then English replaced it. All in all we have our own languages and dialects in daily life.
@@unm0vedm0ver I think you'll find that is not the case. Not this gringo at least.
What about Gramado and other beautiful towns? Not everyone want to live in a over crowded city. I like to live in areas less then 200,000 people. I was born in Los Angeles and it was the worst place to live. The suburbs in Ventura county were a much better and safer place to live. I dont drink, smoke, party, club. Im in bed by 9:30
Well done - thank you for the quality of this informative program 🙏
Amo meu Brasil ❤🇧🇷

Continue produzindo
Obrigado!
Yet another excellent addition to our homeschool studies! Thank you again, good sir!
Thank you Ashley. Just out of interest, what curriculum are you on that sees you studying country profiles? If I know that these videos are being used by teachers then I will continue to make more of them.
@@Geodiode we use My Father's World. The year we're going into is Exploring Countries and Cultures. It's an immersive program where we take a virtual tour around the world, spending 2-3 weeks in each of the dozen or so countries, exploring the language, demographics, geography, and culture. They even give you a passport and play money in the various currencies each nation uses. I'll list them here in order:
USA
Mexico
Canada
Brazil
Norway
France
Germany
Kenya
Saudi Arabia
India
China
Japan
Russia
Australia
Antarctica (obviously not nearly as much anthropology going on in this unit but the last 2 weeks of every year are mostly lighter in material to give everyone a chance to review)
And we learn about the various biomes as we go for the science portion, so it all ties together.

Congratulations on the video! I am very proud of my country, sometimes we are underestimated by the great world powers, but we know our value. Brazil is about to become a world power, and we will make the world respect us.
