Imagine what is was like to have seen the 1000km Monza race in 1968, where the GT40s and the Porsche 907s were racing flat-out on the oval; where the race lasted over five hours. Then there was the 1967 race with the Ferrari P4s, Porsche 910s, and the Chapparral 2F and GT40s. Good thing they used two drivers per race car for the 1000km.
Such a shame that they didn't drive near the top, but it's all in the name of safety, so I understand. I'm a bit against that chicane right on the exit of the oval though, personally I think it'd only be needed at the entrance of each banking. Anyways that Stratos growling at the end was the perfect way to end this video. ❤
@Sterling Moss . . . Actually, what you are seeing here is the oval track having been restored. After the 1960s, the track was not maintained and fell into disrepair for decades. But in 2014 the banking was repaved. Say! I'm familiar with your name, didn't you have first-hand experience racing on the oval with winning the 1956 Italian Grand Prix?
As Bloqk-16 said, with the exception of that restoration work plus the complete repavment of that straight at 0:11 last year, the old banking as never been maintained. Infact if you see the oval from the "back", watching the foundations etc the sight is quite pitiful. As you see in the video there's a yellow line dividing the banking. I'm not 100% sure that's its real purpose but that probabily separate the safe part of the oval (the one actually planted on the ground) to the one a lot less safer that is lifted from the ground by pillars
@@19Bozzy92 Se vedi alcune foto la linea c'è sempre stata, diciamo che la corsia in basso era la corsia di emergenza e quella in alto quella per gareggiare.
Hello Bozzy. What a lovely selection of classics in this video. My favorite would probably have to be the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupé.😍 Such an iconic racecar with an amazing soundtrack. I also really liked the 904 Carrera GTS and Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint. Both are fantastic little cars in their own right. Timeless styling, lightweight, and great performance.👌 Thank you for providing the information in the description as I didn't know the exact models I was looking at. The extra effort you put into all aspects of these videos is always recognized.🙏 Also, the fact that you closed out the show with that Lancia Stratos speaks volumes. Great choice! Have a great day, sir.
I love the 037. The Lancia designers were sitting there, debating: "Hmmmm....aerodynamics, or even a shred of rear visibility?" "Well, if it has aero, it should be winning anyway....no need to look back at the losers behind you, right?" "True! Big wing it is!!!" hahaha
@@lukas6610 First of all, the countach had a group C variant and debuted at Kyalami in '86. Secondly, if you don't have to look behind you in rally then why do rally cars have wing mirrors? And lastly, change your profile pic you fucking commoner.
Some nice sounding cars amongst them. Some pretty dodgy sounding gear changes up and down. I did get a bit of a chuckle out of the Steve McQueen Bullit like up changes with the blip between gears early in the video. But the sound of an Old Slow Manual box is much more preferable to the .02 or whatever super quick gear change time of a modern dual clutch auto is. Good work by Bozzy yet again.
3:41 I've never seen a gullwing being driven like that. In fact, I didn't even know they could sound like that lol. Every time I've seen a gullwing was either parked in a car show/expo or driving slowly and carefully
no fuel injection, no eletronics, no sequential shift with automatic clutch, no ABS, no stability system help... just a body, engine, suspension, manual transmission, a loud engine noise, gas smell, brake soot and a lot, just A LOT of fun and adrenaline to tame an almost uncontrollable beast. What a wonderful time.
Is there progressive banking in the corners on the Monza oval? At least on video it looks like the banking flattens out lower in the corner and steepens up higher.
Oh.. how i want for them to just restore dat banking.. *I kinda want to see Italian high banked racing* ....but wait. Bozzy, how did u film those shots at the banking? Isn't security still there?
Luckily no. Or better, yes, there were a few marshalls in key points watching nobody was crossing or walking on the banking. Plus I had a media "pass" so maybe that's why I was able to record from such places
DukeNuggest69 . . . Yeah! And to think back in the 1960s the 1000km race for the World Sportscar Championship raced on that oval; with the duration of the race lasting over five hours. From the film footage I've seen from the movie, "Grand Prix", the surface was every bit as bumpy back then as what we're seeing on this video.
Is it just me or does the GT40 at 1:35 have a terrible heel and toe technique ^_^ The Daytona coupe sounds amazingly insane!! Great work as always BOZZY!! 👍👍
A couple of those Porsche's were coming in hot and for a nano second... I thought those barriers were going to be moved... haha. If only to drive one of those great cars..or even just ride in one.
They need to open up and refurbish the whole old track with soft barriers and catch fences and extra spectator seat to keep the heritage alive without sacrificing safety.
I have a Question: Why do they push these old Cars to 100% dont retire Cars too? Wouldn't it be sad if one of these Cars crash like the Shelby Cobra coupe at 2:10?

That Shelby Daytona coupe is lovely.
It is, too bad it's not in many racing sims.
Dr. Bananable Lector lol ford is trash, but indeed shelbys are historic
Indeed it is and I have to say in gran turismo it was pretty good lol
You've always got something special for us, Bozzy! Many thanks. wonderful to see them run the old track.
I must admit somethimes I'm really lucky XD Thank you so much for watching dude
Wow, just beautiful.
The way the Stratos handles through the chicane is simply sensational.
Wow! One legendary car after another! Amazing video Bozzy!
Thank you Jordan!
Downshifts on that Shelby at 2:10...
Aaron Holt yeah this channel knows what car lovers want and delivers!
Yep
The 3rd downshift is the best!!!
king15 not me i need more prius and formula e...
Scrolled down looking for a fellow car nut with a comment after hearing the Daytona, was not disappointed. ;)
What an amazing group of cars! The Daytona coupe bangin down through gears in the distance was my favorite.
Mi fa piacere vedere il vecchio tracciato riutilizzato, vedere vecchi circuiti abbandonati è davvero fastidioso. Grazie mille del video👍
Di nulla, figurati!
That Shelby daytona, the GT 40..then that Lancia Stratos! God those sounded good!
That badass sound from Stratos HF at 6:18, i love it!
Such a shame that they didn't drive near the top, but it's all in the name of safety, so I understand.

Couldn't agree more m8
Right on!
Spot on... spoken like a true car-enthusiast
Hell yes!
-make mor stuff pls-
Fuckin weeb ;)
That was one hell of a video! Nothing can beat the sound of an old racecar...
Thank you! Glad you appreciated it
Great compilation of cars from sixties/seventies! That stunning red Alfa Giulia is my favourite.
Absolutely beautiful sounds accelerating away down the straight. The Stratos at the end was particularly nice.
Very nice video, thanks for sharing these images with all lovers of these beautiful cars!
You're welcome! Thank you for watching!
Is the old track maintained at all? Its sad to think one day it’ll fall apart. Is it registered as a historic site? Should be.

19Bozzy92 Thanks for the info and reply!
Bloqk-16 Thanks for your insight. Hahah I did race here back in the day and now I’m old and can’t remember :P

These cars are works of art and pieces of history. Thanks for the excellent video. Subscribed after seeing the Ferrari 70th video.

Thank you Rob, glad you appreciated it!
It's so cool to finally find a video of the my dream car, the Stratos, racing on track!
So cool!!! Thanks for this, I can watch it forever!
The stratos at the end sounds amazing
Man every car on here sounding amazing. But the Daytona and the GT40 are just show stoppers.. What an incredible noise..
I love the 037. The Lancia designers were sitting there, debating:

Same story about Countach:)
Tony Valdez countach is no race car so this has nothing to do with racing
and that lancia was a rallh car no need for back view
Yes,but have same huge nonsence wing and you can see shit throw rear window so..
@@lukas6610 First of all, the countach had a group C variant and debuted at Kyalami in '86. Secondly, if you don't have to look behind you in rally then why do rally cars have wing mirrors? And lastly, change your profile pic you fucking commoner.

The GT40 sounds so mad !!
Colin Leder mad for discontinuing their kind. Then having to look at his replacment with a leaf blower 6

Great video bozzy! Lovely seeing these beauties on that daunting bank :)
Thanks mate! :)
If the visceral music of these mechanical marvels don’t light a fire in your soul - your wood is wet - or you simply don’t have a soul. 🤷🏼♂️
2:10 Shelby Cobra coupe!
So awesome car and more rare than Ford GT40:)
3:01 Scary close!

Marvelous creation of the old days
It's nice seeing an old track maintained properly, hockenheimring meanwhile...

Ok, penso di essermi appena innamorato...quella GT40......awesome!
6:27 want a noise.
by far the finest italian soundtrack of all time... love the sound
It makes me happy seeing these classics being driven and thrashed like they were meant to.
Also, 3:50 is the best part. You're welcome.
Hows that sht the best part?
Khebab Nurmainbred Idk what it is but to me, flat 6 engines - especially old ones - sound absolutely insane
Lnhrt but Different i mean yeah but that stratos at the end the end tho, italian symphony
Khebab Nurmainbred yeah I guess - doesn't as as good as those porsches to me tho
Is there progressive banking in the corners on the Monza oval? At least on video it looks like the banking flattens out lower in the corner and steepens up higher.
Perfection👌
That GT40 and Shelby tho, hmmmmm crisp
I understand the reason for the coned chicane.....but hate them intently. Beautiful cars...

Shelby Daytona? at 2:10
Ford gt40
Those Chicanes ruin the charm of exiting that bank flat out.
Wow amazing!! D:
Great job!
6:25 Lancia Stratos. My favorite Italian rally car.
Hey could someone tell me what type of car this red car is? 0:29
that 2:56 porsche almost made me cry >
He probably went home with a flat spot on his tire lol
A couple of those Porsche's were coming in hot and for a nano second... I thought those barriers were going to be moved... haha. If only to drive one of those great cars..or even just ride in one.
That GT40 was pure porn. It gave me goosebumps
They all sound great but there is nothing like the sound of the rev-forever air cooled 911 motor
Spectacular!!
I remember that Shelby from Granturismo back in the good 'ol days
Most of these cars were at the Tour Auto Optic 2000 in France, like this wonderful Shelby Daytona or the GT40
JoyOfLife nice you get to see them? what replica was the gt40 and powerplant size do you know?
JoyOfLife you had to mention the shittiest cara on the video lol, overrated cans
1:35 + 2:09
now THAT'S true american muscle right there!!!!
1:40 OUCH!!!!!!!!! That gt40 does not deserve to treated like that.
Vitor Djajarahardja She’s a temperamental bitch. Race, break, fix. Better than rotting in a museum.
Ford GT40 wonderfull engine Sound

Shelby sounded mean in the distance 👹
Sounds savage.
Unreal 👌🏻
The Stratos sounded the best!!!
Bellissima
Freaking awesome
Man... that guy was fast! @2:56
Victor Silvani this is what happens if you know how to tame an old 911
What was that car at about 2:11
