What are your thoughts on Josh Gordon stepping away from football?
Amazing words from Chris. As a fan for selfish reasons you want to see him play, but as a person you want to see people win and win at life. I'm with Chris. Gordon needs help. Hes at a point were he can't save himself from himself.. Anyone willing to forgo millions in salary over...drugs ??...needs help and I'm rooting for him.
Steven A s’ gonna say: >
I think health is more important
C.C. is absolutely correct...
This is exactly why I'm going back to school to get a better education to do something better with my life to get rid of the people that are bringing me down is there a possibility
I remember when C.C. Called the addiction on Josh Gordon And Gordon laughed him out of the place. He was the first one that stood his ground and said that kid needs help. Chris a stand up dude with a backbone. Respect.
when was this
takin131 Back when Josh Gordon still played for the Browns and balled out.
Darius Mylik mad respect
Darius Mylik Chris Carter is a real one. They don’t come like him anymore. I used to love watching him ball out on Sunday.
I have never seen an analist so passionate like CC. Because of his own experience, so powerful his words explaining addiction. My respects to CC. PRAY FOR GORDON
@McClellandClan Thanks. My english is not very good lookin
Amen
What’s praying supposed to do. If you want to help him, do something actual physical , not wishful thinking
@@koreyg8552 my believe is praying also has an impact. Positive thinking hoping for a positive impact. Do i know where he is? No, i don't. If it bothers you that i pray for him and is family, then you do something for him and his family. My guest is that you also do not know where he is so what to do then?
What’s his experience with this?
CC a real one, he doesn't hide from the problems he had. And he makes great TV.
Agreed brother.
Pedrooo317 problem he “has”
" The day you're cured is the day they put you in the ground"
Powerful words about addiction.
CC only opinion I wanted to hear because of his personal experience.
Trust me. CC is going to talk about himself somehow!
What is his personal experience?
@Tall Allen No I'm not talking about addiction. I'm talking about CC on EVERY segment injecting himself and his career into the conversation. I don't care what they're talking about the conversation always comes back to I and ME when it's comes to CC. Watch any of these segments.
@Tall Allen I've never heard anything tell me how to be black. It's natural!
see, ME, i been thru dat, i seeeeen dat, so i know how it is so i know what im talkin about
When CC gets passionate like this, no analyst is better
Ben Fixman facts
i’ll still take shannon
Amen!
almost teared up watching this, so i have to agree with you, Ben
Brandon Lawrence I did tear up addiction is real people think a addict just plans on screwing up I highly doubt Josh planned on throwing it all away🙄🙄🙄
Josh is having a battle with life football is small man. Addiction is no joke
No it's not it ruined half of my family lives
Thank you finally someone understands
Theres so many people if given his talent and position in life would have found a way to stay sober. It's funny how we can blame fat people for their food addiction but drug addicts get a free pass everywhere. I don't feel bad for Josh Gordon he was given every chance in life.
mightbegenius you don’t know where he came from
Dudes an idiot. You Can make millions but yet use drugs instead.
I’ve dealt with addiction my entire life, mom, brother, and so many friends I’ve buried. Seen too many ppl lose the fight, but can never put into words what he just did. Amazing, inspiring, and heartbreaking at the same time. Prayers to JG and his family as well as CC. He’s a great ambassador.
Best of luck
My uncle threw away a six-figure salary, house, my aunt and cousins behind drugs. Lost all of it. Respect to Chris. He understands addicts need help because they cannot help themselves. It can consume your LIFE.
You can only help an addict if they want help. Gordon has has too many try to help him
@@NickSerritella
That's true, but it's never ending. They lapse and fall into old habits. It's a deal they have to work on the rest of their life, not a set period of time. I've seen it. Do well for a while and just one step back can destroy all or any progress they've made.
Lol
Nick Serritella Na, even the addicts that want help usually don’t get through it. Addiction is a life long battle, not just a couple months or years. You will be fighting addiction your entire life.
Nick Serritella yea I been an addict and I been clean for years..... it's mind over matter, I prey for the young man, cause his life going downward
Addiction is a sign that something is wrong on the inside. Don't judge them pray for them AND support them. Thank you CC for being AUTHENTIC
Exactly.... guilting them only makes it worse
Authentic... excellent word choice!!
Anthony Okafor so being negative solves things huh?
Sadly we can't really help them, his entourage should but they probably only use him for his money.
sometimes. sometimes its jus an excuse. but I strongly agree wit chris, many times to over come an addiction u need to commit to something greater than you
Look how they look at Cris Carter when he speaks about addiction
I always liked Chris C. Had no idea he dealt with addiction. I applaud him for speaking out.
If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend Cris Carters A Football Life documentary, its really good and goes more in depth about his struggle with addiction
i saw it. they felt uncomfortable maybe?
They’re scared that someone is actually being real lol
@@559vibess to real.
To: Josh Gordon, I don't even know if you'll ever see this but I want you to know that the first few glimpses of you catching and running with a football reminded me of the great Jerry Rice, I love your talent on the football field, but your true and real fans love you more as a person. We know you can overcome the demons of addiction, and are in your corner from now until the end. Dust yourself off and get back to life, keep your head up, you got this. Football is just a childhood game we play and some are blessed with gifts to be professionals at it. Life is not a game, its real and we support you, Chris Carter supports you and in the end its about you getting the help and support you need. Your legacy will not be defined by this story. Today is the first day of the rest of your life, and everyday you have a chance to change your legacy. We love you brother. #SupportJoshGordon.
Increase Kru I knew him personally. He went to my high school and his brother was on my baseball team. He was never a smart kid or person even at that age. Guess he likes making bad choices. Wish the best for him though. Great talent and a waste of talent at the same time.
Nope. He's been given enough chances.
Forget Josh Gordon.
@@edwardgaines6561 funny he will be playing this year sucka
I didnt know Cris Carter struggled with addiction until a few days ago. Really explains his personality. Used to hate how hard headed he is, but now i respect it.
Yeah I can remember when Carter was with the Eagles, is was this extremely talented wide receiver, but was incredibly hot headed and arrogant. Dude was strung all the way out on drugs back then, and his then coach Buddy Ryan use to give him the business because he was always underachieving as an athlete. I can remember his days at Ohio State when he took money from an agent and let his team down on the biggest stage before a bowl game. Yeah Cris had a long history of failures, so nobody is more qualified to talk about professional athletes off the field than he.
sixth he still talks down to Nick and Jenna 😂😂😂
james warner I miss football during that time. you seen JSN highlights on here before? brings back memories.
@@wolf2109 Cris Carter is a great person, but his only huge weakness as a TV personality, is that he is EXTREMELY condescending towards Nick and Jenna. if he could remove that from his personality, he could raise his game to another level. Cris truly needs to filter that condescending personality out of his system, it's just not a good look for television.
sixth 90% athletes who get hurt
By the Grace of Christ i have been sober since June 6 1997 and still today that demon is at the door.. so i know the battle this young man is in, I pray for strength for this man
I’m wrong but not weird at all but thank you they are quite the characters
Prayers to you. Addiction is real. May you continue to be strong throughout this journey.
Keep fighting homie!
No grace of christ, if you're sober now it's by the power of YOU. Stop giving the things you've almost died to accomplish for yourself off to something else. You did it, no one else did it for you.

CC deserves an esteemed award behind this. Phenomenal insights & openness.
I freaking love CC! The passion and knowledge of the game is off the charts. You can tell CC is a real down to earth man
CC is the only analyst I wanted to hear on this topic...He is a survivor
Yup. Like he said. Addicts lie. Dont show up to work. He knows can get you strung out it can make you someone even friends and family dont know. That's real honest experience and wisdom personally.
Curtis Barlow ...why? What’s the story on C.C.?
Or Micheal Irving
@@michaelreyes6258 Well, he was an alcoholic and full blown drug addict for most of his early career. In a similar vein to Josh, he was kicked off his draft team because of off the field issues and behavior problems.
PerryR1985 wow i had no idea
I have never seen someone so passionate bout this topic more than C.C because he knows how it feels to be addicted to drugs praying for Gordon
LeeTravius Mckay - I almost cried when he cried
when Chris said there is no getting better. You only get better when you die.I understand fully, Everyday of your life is a constant battle within yourself. I've seen people go 20+ years of soberity and that one day relapse. Mental health is hard; addiction is hard. Addiction doesn't just effect the addict but those around him as well. I've witnessed alcoholism & know 1st hand how it destroys marriages and families. And as a person that's dealing with anxiety and other issues I know the struggle.. but Im Praying that he gets better and bounce back even stronger than before
I was hooked on Chodine... One day I said no more.. Me and My Homie made a Blood Deal... Like Brothers... Watch each other...

Unlike Stephen A Smith. Chris Carter has class
I started out listening to Stephen A podcast when I got into it, now I can stand him! I have never seen someone so full of himself!
Ya, its easy for somebody with no personal experience with addicts or addiction to just say theyre disappointed. Which is really the worst thing you can say to or about them. Josh clearly needs a lot of help. He passed up million because he can't put the stuff down. That's serious problems. I hope he has people to be there for him during this. Because you need support. Stephen A. Is just ignorant for his remarks. But that's not the first time. He's always been an idiot.
I don't even understand how he has a job, Stephen A Smith that is. I like many semi annoying people on the internet and TV and stuff but he just takes the cake as super awful to have to hear and look at. What an arrogant guy. Get him off everything.
@onewithmyself beautifully said
Class like perpetuating clearly false rumors to try and scare away recruits from his alma mater's rival school? Nice
C.c I'm a former addict or a addict always. But not using. What u said here after all the other shows on fs1 and ESPN. You nailed it a d I'm sharing this vid because of your words
God Bless you. I will be PRAYING for you Josh!🙏. Head up you're a Human being we all have problems you have God and he's with you.
@meaturama internet makes u feel like a badass. . its whateva it's funny but on a post about somthing that means something to some one. Grow up kid. Hope U never know what its like
@Jon Whitehead ty for the kind words. And that is so true
Its just a shame so much talent. The money he has lost is crazy. Addiction is a muth***** very sad.
Derreck Shuman stay strong brother
Cris Carter is a genuine human being, and an all star sports caster, one of the best ever. He never has anything but facts, and he truly wants to help all the athletes become better, more responsible citizens, he has struggled in the same ways other has, and has found success in the darkest of places. He should be an inspirational leader / guidance counselor for modern day pro athletes because there is nobody that cares about what happens in their lives after football than cris carter does.
Haven't seen a wide receiver more dominant since Randy Moss (6'4), guess all the taller guys are finding themselves in the NBA.
Galactic Trifecta Calvin Johnson? Most athletic Wide Receiver in NFL history?

Galactic Trifecta mmmmm let’s agree to disagree. He’s a freak of nature. No one matches his athletic ability and physique
He’s 6’5” 240 pounds and runs a 4.35 40-yard dash. So like I said “the most”

Lol yea lets keep feeling bad for a person who got caught doing drugs for the 4th time. Its called criticism. Stop treating him like a baby. He had tons and tons of resources to help him
Simon Jeremy it’s a disease you would never understand
Help is what he needs....indefinitely. Gordon has been dealing with addiction since 7th grade. When you been dealing with demons since 12 or 13 years old, it’s not the same as starting as an adult. It was a problem well before football. The streets can be a monster to those caught in the wash. I’ll be praying for J. Gordon.
Julian Edelman has had 1000 yards twice since 2007, in 2013 and 2016 and cooks had 1000 last season!!!
Ryan Mullaney Thank you lol I definitely knew Cooks had 1,000 yards last season
Ryan Mullaney he was talking more of an outside big receiver we haven’t had one since Moss.
No he wasn’t
The LAST person I feel bad for is Tommy Boy. Figure it out man you're the GOAT right? So just win.
Welker racked up 1400 yards one season idk what Cris was on
I think I have an idea of how strong addiction is. I quit smoking cold turkey back in 2012 in a combat zone! About 3 days ago I was about 1 decision away from smoking a cigarette! 1 decision as in, it’s ok just 1! Addiction is always gonna be there scratching and clawing at the window. Once you think it’s gone...there goes the scratching again!
Thanks for that story
Take what you felt with cigs x10. Drug addiction is horrible. It doesn't just how up when you could use it. It's always there. But I agree. Amd congrats on not giving in.
I've never been on drugs, but listening to Cris Carter brought tears to my eyes...
My reaction would be “fairly normal”. CC’s is full of thought, insight, and care.
WOW! (Powerful words from CC) Sounds as though Josh G needs men like CC in his life...
Agree.

Tony Blackstar,
Interesting comment given that folks tend to fault black men for always playing the victim.

Tony Blackstar has nothing to do with anything, sorry your WRONG!
i really hope Josh gets all the help he needs and wish him the best!
At first I thought Josh Gordon was just being stupid the first couple times I heard about his troubles. I thought he was just being a dumb young guy. But this last time I was shocked because I really see this young man really has an addiction. I feel for him and hope he gets himself together. Like Chris said...it makes you realize the power of addiction.
Nick didn’t have to out CC’s addiction like that on national TV 😭🤦🏾♂️
Cris done told this story about Robert Kraft FaceTiming with Brady a bunch of times lol
It's his favorite lol
Him ...hey! Yo! Did you know Chris went to Israel with Robert Craft and the FaceTime Brady while they was over there?! Yup! It’s true!
He's like his 2nd father at this point. I'm hardly surprised.
So many people going through hard times, so round yourself with good people and let them help
Luis E Amundaray hahah surround not so round but couldn’t agree more
My first ever Madden game was Madden 2002 I was 10 years old I remember it like it was yesterday Cris Carter was in the Game at that time I was a WR fan Cris Carter Randy Moss Jerry Rice Terrell Owens had them all on my team I say this because I loved Cris Carter as a PLAYER but over the years ive grown to dislike him as an Analyst However what he just spoke about was very real and very raw and has brought out an old found respect that I once have had for him.
Shoutout to CC for making me realize I need to get help for my addiction. For motivating me to open my eyes even further than just admitting it
I hope that you are doing well. All the best.
Mr carter a class act. Glad he was a dolphin in his career
He needs to have a rock bottom moment like Chris Carter.
That's the only way people make changes in their life, when the pain surpasses the joy of the abuse.
B84 J84 ? How much more of rock bottom could he go. He was on a hof path. He maybe made 7 mil and someone of his talent could of easily got a dez Bryant deal a Odell deal he probably missed out on 50 mil easy. He only played like 5 games since 2013. On top of that his locker was next to TOM BRADY. I think and pray he gets his life together. I’m a patriots fan to the death of me. As this is sad and I wanted to see my team win the bowl this year w/o Gordon it’s highly unlikely but I’d rather see Gordon get his life together than win the super bowl. Because unlike people in these comments I care for fellow HUMAN BEINGS.
You must be stupid to think that missing a hof path and not getting money that you never had is rock bottom lol. No he needs to hit further down then that to eventually see where he's at
B84 J84 pain is a great motivator!
B84 J84 Can I get a name so I can quote you on this? Really hit home for me.
He is at rock bottom
Now.... New England just realized they never gave Brady True weapons???? They never draft top Wr's....

CC so powerful in your message. Thank you for always being so honest to us watching!
Respect to CC for that powerful statement. We can’t clown Josh Gordon behind something he can’t control. Also what is not being addressed is WHAT is causing him to fall back to his addiction. There are some demons he is struggling with internally that is making him go back to drugs. We need to rally around Josh Gordon and let him know he is loved and is not alone. We all know people who are addicts. Friends, family, etc. I hope people are more helpful in trying to have these people defeat their addiction as opposed to just making fun of them. Peace.
To Release is To Resolve some people don’t have any control over their addiction. Who are we to judge them. We may be stronger than these people but that doesn’t take away from the fact they are dealing with something that is stronger than what they can handle.
To Release is To Resolve he shouldn’t play football rn. He should focus on getting clean and getting the help he needs instead of football.
Aunchient Pistol you see i don’t think it’s like that... once addiction has that strong of a grasp on you it’s not the users choice anymore. They can’t help it. You have to find the right time when they have some sort of control where they can let someone know they need help. It’s much more complicated then the user just making the choice to stop. There are no choices when under the influence
So well said

Powerful and inspiring words, Mr. Cris Carter! As one who dealt with two addictions: alcohol [24 years; sober since August 8, 2004] & tobacco [26 years; smoke free since November 7, 2014]. I'm nearly a half century old that a long time to have addiction control your life, as well as your pocket book. I'm better now, just a slight breathing problem as a result of smoking. I pray that any addict, like Josh can go get treatment and stay clean and sober.
Thanks so much for sharing your emotional, insightful, compassionate and factual knowledge Cris Carter! As a therapist I can so relate, as a mother I can so relive! Thank You Again

I'm glad Cris Carter was given the time to say this. It's definitely from his heart.
Like Gordon, I am losing the fight. Throwing it all away to secure the next high. WTF is wrong with me and why can't I stop?
Dude, you got this. Try to be strong for those who care for and love you. You're in my prayers as well as Josh and everyone else struggling with addiction
You need to find help in the form of family or a friend Daniel. Addiction lives deep inside, gripping tightly, telling you everything you want to hear. I can promise you that you will not be okay if you don't fight back. This'll be the hardest battle of your life but you can do it. The sun will shine upon your face once more, I can promise you. You need help, you'll get it and this moment of your life will not define you.
Hey Daniel Lion, please keep fighting. Find you some good people to help you fight. You got this. Take care
Just remember you have a lot to offer to people out there. You’re not worthless, you deserve better
Hang in there bruv
darrell poole mm
I can't believe people say you can't be addicted while players like Josh Gordon and M.Bryant are losing 7 figure jobs because they can't stop. The worst part is I can guarantee no one in their entourage is doing anything to help them get better because you can see it when the squad is just there to live off you instead of thinking about you as a person. then again, you can't help someone if they don't help themselves.
CC's heart-felt words...
Im not a 'bad' person getting 'good'; im a sick person getting WELL. .... there is no pain but that which comes from my resistance to change and capacity to accept life on lifes terms....
