🚽 TOILET FLUSHING LEAK💦 INTO KITCHEN CEILING
    • 🤮🧻 Toilet leaks on kit...
The next time you use a toilet that you don’t own, you may want to look in the back of the tank that holds the water. Not only was there a leak between the tank and the bowl but the high pressure assisted flushing system has a recall because of exploding tanks resulting in shattering porcelain causing injury and property damage.
The high pressured assisted-flushing systems were invented to prevent plunging problems due to low level toilet tanks. A pressure-assisted flushing system fits in the tank of your toilet. Pressure-assisted toilets use compressed air to flush, resulting in a loud whooshing noise.
The energy crisis has been a problem in the US for the last 5 decades during different times. It mainly pertained to gas & electric, appliance & mechanics which were modified for the energy savings. However, in the 1990’s water became the focus of use with low flow showerheads and sink faucets, including the toilet tanks being reduced in size as low as 1.6 gallons of water to flush. As people started to complain about backups from lack of water to flush there in came the high pressured assisted flushing systems.
The recalled model is the Flushmate II 501-B. These units were manufactured and sold over the last two decades and were used in both residential and commercial buildings. In 2012 Flushmate recalled more than 3 million units of its Series 503 Flushmate III pressure assisted toilet system for the same reason.
As of 2018, Flushmate has received 1,453 reports in the U.S. and Canada of the units bursting, resulting in 23 injuries.

“Preventative wood rot and mold in bathrooms”
How often do you look at these areas?
    • Toilets:
The most common non-visible #leakage on a #toilet is the bowl connection to the floor. When you flush the toilet do you see water leaking out at the bottom of the toilet base? If so, there may be a bad seal. You can check to see if the bowl is tightly secured to the floor by straddling the bowl between your knees and gently rock it back and forth or grab it with your hands and SLIGHTLY nudge or lift the bowl up on one side or the other. If the toilet rocks, it could mean that the bolts are not tight, the flange is broken, or the floor has wood rot. Check to see if the floor around the toilet base is soft or spongy by applying pressure with your fingers. If you see water on the floor behind the toilet, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the toilet bowl seal to the floor is leaking. Condensation can build up around the bowl and tank areas and can be enough to cause wood rot at the floor.
    • #Bathtub & #shower :
The best time to determine the condition of your tub and shower is after you clean it. In tiled showers, look for cracked and missing grout between tiles and grout that is stained with mildew. You can also tap or knock on tiles to find any that are loose. Water can also leak around the show curtain or doors, which will allow it to roll down to the wood sub flooring and create wood rot and mold. You can check the integrity of the sub flooring adjacent to the tub with your foot. Press down hard to see if it deflects downward. Check for any gaps around the faucet handles and spout that protrude through the wall. Water can leak through which allows the drywall to rot or create mold. All these areas should be repaired re-caulked or grouted immediately to prevent wood rot and mold behind them.
    • #sinks & #countertops :
Have you ever checked your sinks or basins for loose #mounting ? Make sure they are secured to the walls, supporting columns, counter tops or cabinets. Any #movement when using can cause supply pipes and drainpipes to become loose at the fittings, which may allow leakage. After checking for #loose sinks and basins, turn on both hot and cold water before looking underneath. With a flashlight, look over all the fittings, from the faucet fixture to the supply pipes and drainage pipes including the drain trap for leaks. The smallest leak, hiding behind personal belongings, over a period of time may cause delaminating, wood rot and or mold damage inside the cabinet or sub flooring at the underside.

the "high pressure assisted flushing" is to reduce the water usage from a regular old fashion toilet. But lot more things to go wrong with the high pressure system.

The Taco Bell my brother worked at had this KOHLER® Highline Pressure Lite which did the exact same thing. They finally ended up having it replaced. A Crane Plumbing Galaxy Elite was installed in it's place.

One exploded on me in 2009, shrapnel from the porcelain went everywhere and nearly killed or seriously injured me. Get rid of this toilet if you have it. Almost every model since 2000 has been recalled several times. They send a dinky repair kit to make you feel safe but its not worth a loved ones life.

The idiot above me in low income housing installed a pressure assist toilet and it is loud enough I can hear it flushed even wearing headphones with music on at a good volume throughout my apartment and even at the end of the hallway a floor beneath him over 100 feet away.. Then he likes to flush it over 100 times a day , or about every 10 minutes, starting when he wakes up doing it several times. And of course he needs to jam a snake down in there too a couple times a week for a good 15 minutes or so. I hope it explodes on him every time I hear it flush.

hello can anybody out there help me determine if my plumber told me something that is false he told me that the back of the tank has to rock or the tank or the toilet will explode

Thanks for watching. Interesting, water explosions must have high pressure. The back of the toilet is a holding tank that is a very LOW natural water pressured. It is natural water pressure flow like a water fall or a water tower, not HIGH pressure. It can't explode unless a flushmate is installed to create the massive high pressure. Loose toilet tanks are tricky. They are all designed a little differently from one another, however, they are all installed with 2 bolts in the bottom of the water tank with rubber washers and a large rubber bushing at the water connection to the bowl. When the 2 bolts that connects the tank and bowl together are tightened, you want to be careful of tightening the bolts to much because you may CRACK the porcelain tank. I have seen alot of tight and loose toilet tanks but making sure they're is no water leak between bowl and tank is what to look for. Rusted bolts and worn bushings can cause leakage and loosen toilet tanks. Thanks for the question. Ask anytime.
