What purpose is installing the string and pulling the white dial button out? I watched this video to learn how to Check the timer. Did you forget that part of the video?

That piece has to be pulled out a little to take the knob off. No idea how to check the timer though 😐
The string is unnecessary…just pop it out a bit with a screwdriver.
