Inside a Washing Machine Timer - ASMR

- Relax as I open up an old washing machine timer just out of curiosity, and to also salvage the small low RPM electric motor within. In a previous video I replaced the timer in my Maytag washing machine and curious to see how these things look inside, I tear this old one down. I had originally intended to make this part of the timer replacement video but at the last minute choose to make into two separate videos.
You can watch the washing machine timer replacement video here:
• Replace Washing Machin...
Sorry about the audio being a little over-driven in this one.
A little about what it is I’m doing in my videos:
If you are wondering why am I whispering or talking in a soft tone, it’s because; this video is an ASMR relaxation video. What is ASMR? You can see for yourself by visiting the link at the very bottom of this page and reading about ASMR for yourself.
The videos on my You Tube channel portray some of the typical day-to-day things that I do for relaxation, as well my never ending chores. This video was produced with relaxation in mind and hopefully has some ASMR qualities. Stress is harmful to your well-being and in today's fast-passed world, stress management is important, and so I hope this ASMR video in some way acts as a stress-reliever for those watching, as well as a sleep-aid for anyone having a difficult time going to sleep.

A lot of ASMRists just do what they've seen others do but I like that youve always branched out into different things and I love how well it works
Only the wise can appreciate these videos, thank you for making them.
pretty much looks like the timer in my washer...and i took it apart, but at the end i did not remember how to put back together the spacer with the two round tips, so thanks to your video i was able to do it right. thanks dude!
This is highly conincidental, i was just about to search up one of your vids to go the sleep with
that is very nice of you showing this video. I took apart same timer and learned. God Bless you.
+Reino Echavez Thank you for commenting:)
Always an amazing watch, not just the audio. The visuals also. And very interesting. just in time for sleep! Goodnight! :-)
I think your dog singing was the best :')
Christopher Lopez Yes, he is very talented. I'll pass along the compliment to him:)
You are THE Mr. Fixer Upper. Really enjoyed this one. Thank you sir
More like this please! Your repair and "tinkering" vids are my favorite. I'm sure you can use that motor with your Christmas village somehow:)
Tonight I took apart a Whirlpool timer that would go dead when it was time to pump out the water. The timer reverses the start winding input to kick the motor in the opposite rotation. I found a pair of points arc'd together. I was trying to take the plastic holder that holds the flexing ends of the leaf switches to gain access to the points. This vid shows how. Unfortunately I broke the clip that holds the push/pull shaft when I thought I needed to pull hard to pull the knob off.. it unscrews! I can probably find a junk timer and rob the parts I need.
Same problem I'm having
17:46 OMG, that scared me! D:
But still a great video! :)
DonnaASMR Hahahah. I'm beginning to think he took more than a few by surprise. In hindsight, perhaps I should have left the little guy out of the video:)
I wish I could get replacement reed switches or just a reed. Excellent video. The dark areas in the drum seem to be from smoke from the contacts arcing. I'm looking for a good file to clean up my contacts without leaving any residue. I use with crc electronic contact cleaners to clean and protect. But still need a need file or timer won't function correctly. Great video on teardown.
I like these types of videos you make, learning new things while falling asleep, keep up the good work!
Thank you, your video was excellent, it gave me confidence to review my machine
You’d make a great golf analyst with that low voice.😄 Thanx for the video. Cheers mate
You're videos are always released at the perfect time! Cheers :)
I also take stuff apart and tell myself that I have no intention of putting it back together again wether or not that’s true😄 Makes me feel better about my mad electrical skilz
I can't stand too much relax!
Great video... now I can repair my washing machine timer... Thanks.
Oh Billy, great video upload 👌 👍 👏 😀
Very relaxing video, subject matter was of great interest too! Didn't know about those things before.
toedric Yeah, I didn't know what one looked like inside either until this video. Glad you liked it:)
RelaxingASMR wow a reply! i never expexted this! did you manage to get a working one? also pls more of videos of this kind, i like to learn while i relax! ;D

Informative and relaxing your videos just keep getting better and better I'm not sure if it's better equipment but man oh man it is absolutely stunning! Keep and the good work and school hopefully the cigar video is almost done! Lol
17:46 Gosh dang, and I was nearly asleep... Scare the bejeezus outta me...
Lol same
Tingle-tastic!
hahahaha I lost it at the dog
love your videos, keep em coming!
Dear Mr .Relaxing,
I have two questions which keep me from relaxing. 1) Why there are 3 prongs for 2nd ,3rd stages while only 2 prongs is enough for continuity. 2) There are only 4 stages for water fill, vane rotation, pump away dirty water & finally spin. Why there are 8 sets of prongs instead of 4 sets ???
Dude I’m so confused! You did a great job with the tear down, but why didn’t you just clean up the contacts and put it back together? Reason is there are not to many videos showing this procedure. I will say it should still give people the encouragement to tear them done and clean the contacts, because if you hadn’t noticed they’re selling these refurbished timers for $130.00 on eBay. And all they did was resurfaced the contacts. And your video nearly hit the mark in the refurbished process.
The dog hahahahahahahha oh god that was the funniest thing I ever saw. Relaxing and a dog comes out of nowhere and says that bahahah
Hahahaha! The singing dog was really funny! Please make a separate channel for Non ASMR
This video stressed me out, I need to get my washer fixed ASAP to get my wife off my back. Still, glad you showed what's inside these things. Not sure if it will help me diagnose the timer that won't advance and how to test the motor that drives it. Does anyone know where I can find out how to test the little motor and what voltage should it get or ohms across it when disconnected?
17:46, actually believed i had sleep paralysis haha, i have had something similar happen before. Great video, your dog woke me up, but it's ok since its so cute :).
holy crap!!! scared the crap outta me!!! lmaooo wow that was funny
Testing it now. After removing the plastic cover from the side with tge contacts I could use a small folded sandpaper to file clean one row of contacts. No need to bend tgem but hadto use a small screwdriver to lift them eniugh for the sandpaper. The white cylinder had one or two rows with black so I could tell where the bad contact might be. If this dossn't work I will just buy a new timer or machine. This one is 23 years old. Edit: Didnotwork. The slightest bend on the flimsy bars makes them hard to make a contact.
I like watching and listening to you work on these sorts of things because whenever my dad does these sorts of things, I can surely expect a whole lot of "Jesus Christ! What the hell!"
Sir I have almost the same timer, great video no doubt. Where can I buy a replacement motor or timer ? thank you sir.
Are you getting rid of the spinning knife intro or did you decide to make this one to see how it turns out. BTW thanks so much for uploading this! Gonna sleep alot better tonight.
PCHR Spinning Knife is my primary intro for videos made at my writing desk. I tend to use this intro once in a while for videos made at my hobby bench. Thanks for watching:)
Ohhh okay didn't know thanks!
idea you could use the timer to turn on and off projects. by connecting to the tabs on it you would need to know the time of
each cycle's
Your timer contacts 🔥 at same spot as mine, I find out how fix
17:46 ???? Well ok then...
George Patton My thoughts too General
Not gonna lie, i was relaxing to this and when the dog appeared i did scare myself
Scared me too,but worth it!!! :-)
I will never see your dog the same way again.
The dog shows up again at 18:65
May you upload the audio from your dogs beautiful singing? I want a new alarm tone and it'd be perfect xD
You all are still awake at 17:46? Lol. I know I won't make it!
Exactly! I'm out 10min in lol
jennyrvp 6min!!
If I saw that set up at 19:00 I would run my ass in the other direction lol. Not saying you don't know what you're doing, but electricity scares me a ton.
Great video btw :)
Interesting
need to know how u got it out of washer. we have a washer with same timer 25 years old and cant figur
e out how to get it out to replace it.
Unscrew the knob, carefully pull off the plastic shield, carefully pry off the turning plastic knob that was under the plastic shield (like with a flathead screwdriver). That reveals the two screws holding the timer in place. You probably knew that you have to undo the 2 long screws in front and the 2 small screws in back holding that top panel in place. Don't lose your screws! Unplug the electric plug into the timer, and then it's out!
How can fix this pls Tell me
was the dog a test to see if people watch that far through the video or something?
yourmaster1994 Umm....yeah, that's it. It was all just a test ;) Actually though, I guess I was so caught up in thinking how funny it was that I lost sight of what kind of video this was and how it was being used as a relaxing sleep-aid and to be quite honest, it was poor judgement on my part to put him in the video. I'm glad this wasn't met with any "real" outcry and I appreciate everyone's good nature:)
amazing.... zzzzzZzzz
Why are people watching a old man fiddle around with washer machine parts?
Could ask yourself
FIRST!
