- My camera gave up the ghost and I'm not dropping a few k on a new one when I have this perfectly serviceable webcam available to me right there. I'm still writing that Baldur's Gate 3 video and I also almost didn't post this video but we're going to stop throwing videos in the trash from now on. I'm in my reduce, reuse, recycle era.

Also regale some tales about this warbler thing sometime! ...seriously though, this is something I needed to hear, most importantly. a lot of those "what if's" stop me frequently. and I'm glad you felt like sharing this. I work in the video game industry as a developer... yay... whoo... dream job and all that - No, it's not, I'm tired and I feel no satisfaction in the games that I have to make.

It's simple, do it RPG style. Upload first script vid "as is". Then re-upload it as New Vid+. Then upload New Vid++.
As long as you don't start uploading vids as paid DLC it's fine.
Only a minute in and my wife goes through the same thing. I always tell her "Don't let perfect be the enemy of good", not sure where I heard it but it has helped me a lot with this!
I write (it's very bad) and I feel this video in my soul. I found focussing on multiple projects at the time, usually one longer continues one and then several shorter pieces, helps with burnout. If one doesn't interest me, or I have no fing idea where I was going with it, I can switch to another. And yes, I do tend to get ideas when I'm reading or otherwise relaxing, so if I have a day off (haha) I tend to read or relax and keep the document open. I get more done like that (in the best case 5k words a day once) then when I'm hyper focussed on it and trying to put in the work.
And yes, the idea's folder with half finished, or nearly finished, works is growing oh god help it's filling up what do I do
Why, am I way cooler than anyone else watching! Other people aren't real, you see, only I am. Or you, for that matter, but best not dwell on that.

Hello! I thought this was a great examination of the roadblocks creative people (especially perfectionistic ones, like me) encounter when trying to finish projects. I personally resonated with the "it won't be good enough" and "once it's done I have to start something else, oh God" categories. I appreciate your willingness to be real about these issues. It's encouraging to know that it's not just me.
Also, I just wanted to say that I really, really like your videos (including the Stardew Valley one, which is a gem). I first started watching you for Witcher content, but I have come to really enjoy that on the Bird Channel you talk about whatever you want. And if what you want right now is to stream, I think that's great! Knowing what you want to do and then doing it are two of the hardest things in human life, so good for you.
I recently watcher your Witcher 1 and 2 lore videos and it provided me with great clarity going into w3 thanks.I am excited to watch this video now

What if you try thinking of writing a video as a step toward a bigger goal? Do you think you could convince your brainmeat that the current result is good enough to shift laterally to the next step? Not every step needs to be up. Built up some foundation before ascending. I dunno, just rambling hypotheticals. I'm not an expert, just a hobo. My problem is that I overthink the process and never end up starting at all. I have so many cool ideas in my head that have never made it to paper. I don't have a cat but I do stare at my bird. Not exactly proper, but damn she's cute. Where am I?

It is respectable to be "I'll do what I want and what I like around my hobby." especially in this platform with the Almighty God Algo-Rythm petty and often chaotic demands. Balance is hard to reach and being accepting -good enough- has been vaguely forgotten. That dreadful voice in the back of the mind constantly denigrating yourself and your work no matter what... It's that voice that killed my willingness to keep at doing art.
Nevertheless, I'll keep watching, I'll stay subbed, I'm here for the voice and the indepth lore and analysis when it comes around. It's for Proper Bird that I'm here, not the type of content since you make them all interesting to watch/listen! Keep at it!

I was used to find many road blocks in my career. So much so I would often stagnate and be unable to move forward properly. Then, one day a colleague of mine told me that I should just kick-off a project and then go on on feedback cycles to understand how to get it properly done.
Which sounded crazy, as I would be putting something "not ready", but soon I've realized that it was far better for my mental health to do small incremental steps than to plan ahead all the details and come up with two or three failsafe and guardrails. But as I was missing almost always a deadline, I had to try that.
Which first came up as a bunch of "MVPs" turned out to be some of my best projects as I've managed to grow them up after release. Now I don't have this "stagnation paralysis" as I'm fully aware that even if something is bellow my expectations, I'll have done something and in most cases, it's better than nothing.
The early bird gets the worm, the second mouse gets the cheese, the Proper Bird takes the cake.
But yeah, thinking you're not good enough can really make you feel cooped up. Makes it hard to spread your wings and fly the endless skies of creativity. Though it is heartening to see you challenge yourself to not wonder what other people think too much. Not afraid to ruffle some feathers, if you will.
Just keep doing what you like and what you are comfortable with, and I eggspect that like-minded people will flock to your channel. I will be migrating towards Twitch to chirp in sometime.

I wanted to start a talking channel simliar to yours for a while now and kept putting it off but now everytging is in motion to record videos once my year abroad ends in August. I put it off because i suck at Scripts and reading them for my new channel i will do research but talk freely with notes so it feels more natural to me. The nothing profound to say thing hit hard too but i decided since it's Just my thoughte on Things this shouldnt be a matter anyway :)
