    We got a go kart same day this vid was posted it was broken and it sat in our garage till me (12) and my buddy (13) fixed it up and it ran well and still does but it shreds through belts so we put a direct clutch on it and the chain is angled so we gotta move the engine over abt 1 inch but it's cool to think 2 kids fixed a go kart that was sitting in a garage for 3yrs

    Those engines are perfect for this, they have a nice torque curve for the swap. Another engine overlooked is the Suzuki GS 450. They are bullet proof and make tons of good torque and power for buggies. I built a few yerf dog spider box karts using the GS motor. They all ran 80mph with a gear that would pull the front wheels. Very cool build, thanks for sharing.

    Great idea with the shifter and clutch. I was thinking of doing a Honda Odyssey type steering with controls on the wheel but I think your way may work better.

    • @fishinkarts2865
      @fishinkarts2865  4 роки тому +2

      Yeah, but the only problem with it is that most of the time you can only have one hand on the wheel. Will you be making any videos on it?

    How does the axle handle the weight of the engine? I'm thinking about putting a 650 suzuki motor in my buggy, worried the extra weight might break the axle

    • @fishinkarts2865

    • @fishinkarts2865

      You basically just have to start doing it and try to figure it out along the way. Watching some of the go kart channels on YT would probably help quite a bit too (ratherbwelding, red beards garage, cars and cameras, etc). A welder, grinder, and some other miscellaneous metal working and hand tools will definitely be required. If you do try it I'd love to see a video or some pics of it :)

    • @fishinkarts2865
      @fishinkarts2865  3 роки тому

      Yeah I know I baby it, but it always feels way faster while driving. The carbs don't have accelerator pumps so if you punch it while in too high of a gear, then it kind of stumbles before taking off. That might be what you are hearing. Other than that it runs almost perfectly.
