I will be honest ... that thing is TERRIFYING! Cool but terrifying. The largest motorcycle engine I would consider putting in one of those karts is in the 50hp area. Anything larger and I would be concerned that the chassis might buckle under the power.
Awesome build. Awesome to see you finished it too. Only suggestion I would make is swapping out to a wider rear axle for stability. My Yerf-dog 3206 Videos shows my 42" long axle and it kicks the tires out a bit to make it more stable. Do you plan on selling it or keeping it for a trail riding toy?. If your just selling it Skip the axle mod.
all the builds i saw they made the easy difficult...no one even thought keeping the bike engine in her own frame? just cut the front and the back of the bike and meld her in the back of the buggy...that way there is no relocation..all the engine mounts with the anti vibration rubbers..and with the 19l tank ready on...THATS IT...a friend call me to say my opinion on his project because i have a lazy mind that makes all more simple..he done like i said and he saved a shit loads of money..its sooo painful to watch going into chaos wiring fucked up for WHAT? with the way i said above you need only 500euro of melding and 3-4 parts just for clutch-gear shift-axle..but no reverse
Very nice build, watched your videos! Can you please explain the gearbox? As i can see there are reverse, neutral and forward. Didn´t see any clutch there.
@@mr.b1259 I see so you sized up linkage to what was the foot shift and then added a neutral 'foot brake and just made a jack shaft using welded in pillow blocks and small axle! Nice. I see why you used a motorcycle no axles and trans is inclusive
Yes if you add a reverse gear box it will go in reverse in any gear. . all it does is switch the direction of the drive spocket.. so if you're in 4th gear and you got your foot on the clutch and you put it in reverse you'll go backwards in 4th gear. Or most likely you'll take off backwards and your engine will die
@@DrLove911 now i want to find out about those new trike model like piagio's with its reversability...im gonna ask our neighbor how it works,if it is what i think it is,it could probably a solution for it.and for a fact those trike climb up hills smoothly for 125 cc trike uhmmm hehe
This looks great, I have a few questions. How tall are you and how comfortable is this for you to drive? Also what kind of gokart is this? As in what make and model?
crazy, I'm planning on doing it to the same exact one because we have a bunch of old shells at the camp I work at that my boss says I can have for free because he'd just have to pay a truck to come get them anyway, this is a taotao 150 targa right? or is it a dongfang?
Cool build. What gear ratio you running. I know you said it wasn’t running right but It sounds like the gear ratio is too high as well. Are the jackshaft sprockets the same? Kinda looks like the sprocket on the engine side of the jackshaft is bigger.
My dads gonna get a motorbike engine and we ar gonna put on a frame kinda like yours and then we will go from their. Im 14 and i cant wait to rip it on tye dirt roads at my house and take it to the mountains and hills and stuff. How cabable is yours? How fast?
Cool man thanks for the reply. Im not sure what kind of engine i am getting for mine but hopefully 450 or over. I love getting the adrenaline from hauling it. And also can u update me when u try some hill climbing please. Thankyou so much.
Yes, it had little power at the time of this video from the carbs not being adjusted right. Since then, I got the carbs set right and it runs amazing and has plenty power. As far as the "ticking"... I'm not sure what you are talking about. The motor is pretty solid.
Do you have any social media that I can contact you for info? I'm doing a Yamaha 600cc swap on my hammerhead 150cc dune buggy. Do you have the links for the parts used on the dune buggy?
@@mr.b1259 I still have the stock engine in the dune buggy. I was thinking to do the swap once the stock engine failed on me. I'm not sure if I should go with a 600cc or 750cc or a 1000cc. I have someone that wants to trade there complete motorcycle. He has two to choose a 750 Honda cb and the other is a Yamaha r6 and they both run. I also found a Yamaha fz1 1000cc engine with everything I need like harness, speedometer, engine, carbs, throttle cable, clutch cable. He wants $300 for that engine but the problem is that idk if it starts because he already has the engine pulled out from the bike and in the pictures it looks like it's laying in a stand.
I'd say take a complete running bike and start from there. It's nice to have all those parts in case you want to use anything else from it. So either of those bikes would work well. If one is fuel injected, I'd pick that one.
I traded a dirtbike for a gocart / dunebuggy and when I got it the engine wasnt attached to anything and I want to know if it runs but idk how to test it off of everything
There's way too many things to try to go over in a UA-cam comment. I'd say find somebody local that knows a little about the motor you have and go from there.
It coil is earthing of something cauaseing it to not rev up right ur not even getting half that engines power trust me, and your air &fuel mixture is wrong ,,otherwise shes a success mate ,👍
Not sure if u figured it out yet but the issue with it dying when u put it in gear is the kickstand switch!!
I was just thinking that watching this
You read my mind man👏👏 ,defo a fellow biker you are ,,👍👌✌🚵🚵🚴

The largest motorcycle engine I would consider putting in one of those karts is in the 50hp area. Anything larger and I would be concerned that the chassis might buckle under the power.
Absolutely! This thing is a death trap! The frame is not meant for this kind of power, but as long as I dont push it to its limits it should hold up.
Be more concerned about taking flight lol
I don't think that is a major issue u could jus use thick wall piping and make engine mounts from 1/4 inch plate but the basket itself should be fine.
It's your safety switch on your stand .stalling when put into gear
Kinda wished you'd shown what it would do to demonstrate the forward power, rather then a bunch of figure 8s

Fink I will check into the wider axle, it definately is too narrow. Not sure if I'll sell it or not yet.

The motor/transmission came from a motorcycle. It has 6 forward gears and neutral, no reverse. I did put a clutch pedal up beside the brake.

I do not have it anymore. I do have other videos of the build on my channel, those should answer some of your questions.
Where did you get the rack and pinon steering
it sounds like the carbs choke need work! how it runs now im building a joyner 250 swaping a 600f3 turbo . great job man
Thank you! I did go thru the carbs a couple more times and got it running much better. Make a video of your build and share it!
I will love ur built!
Hey man anyway I can get in touch with about this build? Im about to do my own and I have some questions
I'll try to answer what I can. Email me somethingrandom906@hotmail.com
❤how u did the shifter
You might check the kickstand indicator. That would cause it to kill when put in gear
cody buxton it ended up being the neutral switch in the motor. I cut the wire and grounded to the frame, that took care of it.
Mr. B hell yeah! Nice going man.
Thanks man. It was fun. I have a couple other builds on my channel, check them out!
You need to change the sprocket size because you are not in the power band.
I geared it down at the jackshaft because i didn't want this thing to do 120 mph.
Im still puzzleda out the transmission.adding reverese just adding reverse gearbox,so will it go reverese even at 1st 2nd or 3rd gear right?

what kind of cable have you use for your shifterd were have you bought it? it would be really helpful of you for my buggy project big tank you
I used the cable that was on the cart already.
Thanks for your reply ! The thing that I dont understand in your set up how can u down shift if you have only one string to pull ? (To shift gear)
It is a solid wire cable inside a sleeve that allows it to be pushed or pulled. It's not like a bike brake cable.
Thanks for your help
Kickstand switch!!!!!!!! That’s why it cuts out when you put it in gear
Are you in NoDak? I know no one around here that builds these kinds of things.
Where you from?

Definitely don't want to push the kart to the limits of the motor!

It's a kandi 150gka-2 I believe. I'm 6'1" and I fit ok. I dont think 2 adults will fit comfortably, but a kid passenger is just right.

Thanks! The sprocket from the motor is a 16 and the one to the axle is a 12. After getting it running good, the gearing seems just right.

Kind of makes no sense to put that big of a motor on it when you go out of control in first gear but that's my opinion still pretty cool
Is this a Tomberlin frame?
The brand of the original kart is called Kandi
Kick stand safety switch is more likely your cause.
why 2 chains in the back?
I wasn't able to go straight down from the motor to the axle. Check out the other videos of the build.
@@mr.b1259 oh ok thanks mate
Looking in to building something similar. How hard was it? Any pointers?
Just have fun I guess. If I do this again, I would use a fuel injected motor for sure.
That thing has know power for a 600cc bike engine and it ticking so loud because there's a lot of friction from the gas in the engine
