@@feyisa thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment your experiences living here. It's always nice to hear some positive words about Oklahoma.
I moved here 7 years ago and caught a good job. The cost of living kept me here. When you spoke about no restaurants being open if you go out at 830 for something to eat, I laughed so hard because its absolutely true.
Hello, I'm Jena parkers, I will be moving to Oklahoma soon , and I would like to know you and be friends, don't really knows much about the city, and I'm hoping to get meet someone who knows, to show me around.hope to hear from you .thanks and a good day .
Hey guys I'm born and raised in the 405 and you guys are spot on! Our lil 5 o clock traffic aint nothin lol. I'm never leaving this place. As I've gotten older I've learned to appreciate the slow pace here
Thank you! Yes the slow pace is nice and refreshing to have. I remember we went to Los Angeles a couple years ago and the traffic was horrible at all times so it took an hour to get to one place to another. So when we got back we were grateful for getting places in 15min LOL Thank you for watching
Good research, you two are a cute couple! I grew up in Oklahoma, and the biggest CON is the lack of diversified & high paying JOBS! Over twenty years ago I left Oklahoma, to take a higher paying job out of state with a better retirement package. The biggest PRO, is just like you said the people are so friendly, or should I say receptive to newcomers. It is not unusual to meet someone on a country road and have them wave, for no reason... just friendly. Generations of my family still live there, and I still feel like Oklahoma is HOME. Excellent post!
Two things I love about the 405 is that it’s easy to get around in the car and the traffic lights are calibrated properly, unlike here in Detroit, Ugh. Also most intersections have the right turn on red allowance in OKC.
I lived in OKC for two years, I had to leave OKC for job related reasons. But I really liked it there, it is a good size, plenty to do, yet not overwhelming in size like Dallas or Atlanta.
AS SOMEONE FROM OKC THIS IS THE BEST ONE OUT THERE. THE TRUTH WAS TOLD AND THE GOOD AND THE BAD. So Thank you! for doing a great job, but I'm looking to move out as of 2023. As a black male working in education, the STATE has tried to kill me several times, and often falls into issues with race, poverty, and basic human rights for some that are being denied and ignored by people just moving here. So please just because you are able to afford a house in OKC doesn't mean people in OKC can afford housing, so it sucks when people out of OK buy up housing and try to force us out of our own city, so instead of seeing my friends and family be displaced, and my childhood covered up with generified mess, I'm going to move.
You're right. Nobody goes to OK. Flights are ltd, there are no other alternatives except driving. I Love the way the whole place gets shut down if there's an ice storm-sensible. I don't like the hail & the humidity. Liked you practical presentation.

We are thinking about relocating to OKC when our rent is up in March. We are in DFW. We visited OKC last year and loved how the traffic was sparse etc. The only thing that worries me is the tornadoes. But the cost of living is great in OKC compared to what you can get in DFW
Definitely! The traffic here is nothing compared to Texas. I remember traveling through Houston and missed an exit. The next exit wasn't for another 15+ miles because of some construction. Boy everyone was mad lol we were headed to Galveston to get on a cruise and we all needed to use the restrooms 😂 but I agree with Nathan Miller. DFW has tornadoes as well so no need to be nervous to come here. We don't have twisters dropping out of the sky like the movie 🤣😉
Another informative video. Thanks to both of you. I'd love to see you go on an Asian District adventure (hint, hint). I live in Houston's Asia Town and would love to compare. I plan on retiring in OKC and really appreciate all the insights.
Thank you so much. We got back from OKC for a family reunion Last month. I was amazed at how much it had changed for the better. Lots to do. Same friendliness as the South. We live in Nashville which has a lot of the same pros and cons as OKC. Becoming an It City is changing it not for the better sadly. We’re seriously considering a move to OKC. I’m subscribing to your channel today. ❤️ If you could ever do an update, it would be great. I know cost of housing has kind of gone crazy this past year, including in Nashville and OKC.
Hi! Thanks for subbing 🙂. Glad you had a good time here. We should do an update because the cost of living is getting pretty crazy around here from what we are use to. Eggs are off the charts some weeks at the grocery store!

Ya'll have a very good list. I would add to the con list the limited public transportation. Also we need major improvement to our public school system as a whole and teacher pay and support. Statewide actually on the schools.
Edmond, Mustang/Yukon, or Norman are nice and have plenty of options as far as housing like new construction/new apartments. The further south you go in OKC like right on the brink of Moore/OKC is pretty safe in my opinion, there are also gated neighborhoods all over the city though. There is crime all over though, unless you are living in Gallardia where security is 24/7. I would suggest, even If you don't plan to move to apartments check the google reviews first in that area. That should give you some insight to what usually happens in the area.
@@LivinanOKlife Hey I just wanted you to know I just moved to Edmond from the Tulsa area, thank you so much for the videos about OKC it really helped me with finding a good place/area to live.
Crime is everywhere even places you would not expect it to be. For me, I see it more often though because of my career field so yes I would say it's high but it's definitely not the worse city to live in.
This put a smile on my face and got me excited to move to OKC. I'm saving up now to move here from a small town in Kansas. My favorite part was "nothing to do except go to the club". I'm super okay with that!
How are your car inspections in OK? Are they tough to get vehicles to pass? How often do you have to get your vehicles inspected? I’m asking because NJ is super duper tough on emissions and gas cap inspections. They inspect everything else, but they definitely crack down on that and every four years our cars have to go through inspections unless the vehicles are older than 1995. Then they are exempt from inspection.
We actually do not have that here in Oklahoma. When I bought a car a long time ago I guess the dealership got it from Texas and it had a sticker on there for the inspection. Long story short I don't remember if it was an officer who told me or a mechanic that said I needed to take that sticker off because I could get in trouble with it on there. Don't ask me why though I don't know lol anyways to answer your question Department of Public Safety doesn't require any safety or smog tests here currently.
@@LivinanOKlife - THANK YOU! Yes, you did answer my question. It helped immensely. I’m hoping to take a vacation there to OKC in July hopefully this year (2020) in order to scout it out and make a final relocation decision as to the area.

Great video! I'm a student coming to study at OU from the UK in the next academic year, does anyone have any suggestions in terms of the best things for students to do?
Congrats! Well we don't have any specific videos for college students quite yet but we did make a video about things to do in Norman, here's the link ua-cam.com/video/c8budKvhxrw/v-deo.html. Campus corner is really popular amongst OU students and there are always watch parties for football games. #livinganoklife I am planning a trip to OKC ...does a travellers guide exsist? Do you have references what to explore in Okc? Are there National Parks?
Yes!!! So hopefully you aren't coming in the next week if so it may not be here in time. If you go to www.travelok.com/brochures you can get free books of everything to do here! It's soooo helpful I get them every year. They have 2021 travel guide and a state park guide and soo many other ones on there. You can get them shipped to your house for free or just download them immediately. I like the actual books though. Hope this helps!
Pretty much any place besides okc, tulsa, and the surrounding suburbs are small populations with plenty of land. I don't think it would be too hard to find a property anywhere. It really depends which part of Oklahoma you are looking at to go to.

Plenty of activities for kids like zoo, the science museum, Frontier City, Hurricane Harbor, Dave n Busters, main event, celebration station, Round 1, Blue Zoo, factory obscura, National cowboy museum, brickopolis, the whole boathouse district, plenty of parks and lakes like Lake Hefner, scissortail park, lake Arcadia, Martin Nature park. We are thinking about relocating to OKC when our rent is up in March. We are in DFW. We visited OKC last year and loved how the traffic was sparse etc. The only thing that worries me is the tornadoes. But the cost of living is great in OKC compared to what you can get in DFW
DFW has plenty of tornados as well!
Same here! I want to move from the dfw to Okc but my wife is a cali native and she's scared of the "tornados" smh 🤦
Good news! Most places have tornado shelters!
Same here Dfw is too crowded and real estate is expensive!
I do not need a lot to do. I would be cool hanging out with you folks for a bit. Thanks for the video.
Thank you! 😀 Maybe one day we get to just chill and relax 👍🏽
Another informative video. Thanks to both of you. I'd love to see you go on an Asian District adventure (hint, hint). I live in Houston's Asia Town and would love to compare. I plan on retiring in OKC and really appreciate all the insights.
Thanks so much! Okay we will add that to our list of ideas 😊
If you could ever do an update, it would be great.
Hi guys you are amazing, I'm from Italy and I was looking for real life in America, as i will have huge holiday in the future in the States after the pandemic and I'm going to spend my time in the mainstream cities so i met you. You are fabolous together and thanks for showing me so many interesting things.
Thank you so much for watching. I'm glad you think Oklahoma city is mainstream lol alot of people think it's the country and we only have cows 😆 be safe on your journey here hopefully you'll be able to enjoy it soon
@@LivinanOKlife Oh No I don't think it's mainstream, this is why i'm going to visit it as soon as the pandemic will be over. I will definitely contact you. Both of you are amazing!!!!
Y’all need to come visit the ICE EVENT CENTER it’s lit on Thursday through Saturday black friendly and a good time
Sounds great! 😀 We have been quite a few times to eat catfish.
Hello, I'm Jena parkers, I will be moving to Oklahoma soon , and I would like to know you and be friends, don't really knows much about the city, and I'm hoping to get meet someone who knows, to show me around.hope to hear from you .thanks and a good day .
There are 2 seasons in Oklahoma: winter and construction..
Pot holes are the norm. Everywhere here.
It's just one continuous pot hole from McLoud to US 62.
It's the clay soil.
🤣😂 one continuous pothole. That's so funny
I really enjoyed this video you guys. I appreciate all perspectives on different places, but especially from someone who looks like me, to be honest. Nice editing and effects too. What app do you use?
Thank you for watching 🙂 we use a software called Filmora 9 to edit for right now.
Nice video, OK has some really friendly laid back folks even in some of the smaller cities and towns! 👍🏾
Thank you! We would definitely agree with you, Oklahoma has some the nicest people.
Am moving to Oklahoma City, in June 2023,from NYC.
Congrats! Welcome to a slower pace of life 😀
Its always windy in okc it seems, thinking of moving there and every day its seems winds over 12mpg which gets annoyingly
You are spot on, but you will get use to it over time.
@@LivinanOKlife I think I will be moving to Albuquerque not OKC. Very similar in a way. Wide open and spacious
I loved this video. Do y'all have any comparisons of OKC to Tulsa? I am trying to decide between the two.
Thank you but unfortunately we don't right now 😔 we haven't been able to get up to tulsa in awhile. It's time for a visit!
Played college golf at OCU, great folks, but windy as hell!
Sums up oklahoma very well lol 😆
This is an awesome video I’m thinking of moving for work so this was super helpful!
Thanks for watching so glad it was helpful to you
Hey bro it'd Clark from work I just found this so uou can expect it to come monday
Lol 😆 ok I will prep myself now.
Making me wanna move here away from Los Angeles where I pay $1600 for a 1 bedroom 🤔. Plus my mom is from Oklahoma looks very relaxing something you can't get here lol
😱 Oh no that's a house payment on a nice brand new 3 bed 2 bath house here 😆 lol it's definitely a lot slower pace than LA but not boring so it's a perfect mix. Come visit!
I'm born and raised in the OKC area, thank you for doing such a great job representing my hometown.
Aww thanks so much 😀
Am planning to mo to OKC...I need more info
@@noreenkatabarwa2613 these guys have a lot of great info on their channel but if I can answer any questions I would be happy to help.

Definitely looking to move to OKC this year.
Nice! You will not regret making OKC your home, keep us posted. 😀
@Jupiter's corner If anyone is currently looking to purchase a home, I am selling a 4-5 bedroom off market at a low price under $170k located in Le Flore County.
Which is rare as 4-5 bedroom houses throughout Oklahoma are well over $250k on market.
House is in beautiful modern designed condition. Sitting on a decent lot size. Move in ready.
Looking to sell by 8th March. Feel free to comment here and leave me your cell number or email address.
My name is Kendra. Nice to meet you. When was the video made?
Nice to meet you Kendra! This one was made October 2020
Ya'll have a very good list. I would add to the con list the limited public transportation. Also we need major improvement to our public school system as a whole and teacher pay and support. Statewide actually on the schools.
Thank you for your input, those are a few cons we didn't think of 😃
I want to move there so bad! Been begging my husband for years. Living in enid now.
At least your not too far from okc! Maybe he doesn't like city living.. Show him our videos maybe it'll persuade him lol 😆
Yes will definitely do that 😁
I’m moving there next year I can’t wait
Have safe travels on your move here! 🙂
This was great info! Good Job y'all !

😄😄 heyyy Alisha!
I'm wanting to move to OKC from Tulsa, what are some good/safe areas to live? (Including suburbs)
@@LivinanOKlife Thank you so much!
@@chaser8138 you're welcome 🙂
Choctaw between 29th and I 40. Newalla has a really nice hidden community on SE 44 street just west of Harrah Newalla Road.
@@LivinanOKlife Hey I just wanted you to know I just moved to Edmond from the Tulsa area, thank you so much for the videos about OKC it really helped me with finding a good place/area to live.
What about crime rate? They say it’s high. How is it there on your perspective?
Crime is everywhere even places you would not expect it to be. For me, I see it more often though because of my career field so yes I would say it's high but it's definitely not the worse city to live in.
amazing video, thanks so much :)
Thanks for watching 😀
FYI , even tho the minimum wage has not risen .... it is a very rare thing to see this actually happening. Most make well over that amount
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
True, I've see plenty of fast food places advertise 9, 10 and even $11 an hour, and we know those places are notorious minimum wage jobs.
Love the channel you guys - keep it up!
Thank you 😀
Terrin!! 😂 I looked up kayaking in Oklahoma City and this video came up. I’m living in Moore, hit me up. Long time no see!
Hey how is it going? How long have you been living in moore?
Going on 3 years, everyone else still lives in Muskogee. We need to get together soon!
Nice, what's your name on FB?
I don’t have fb, do you have snap?
Nope lol
@@Aiijuin awesome! Hopefully you'll find an area that you'll like here. Have fun when you come this summer! 🙂
There used to be yearly inspections, but that's been gone for a long time and I don't remember why it was done away with.
Great video thanks for the info thanks 🙏
Thanks for watching it 😀
Nice editing guys great video
Hey Austin!! Thanks lol did we pop up in your recommended? 😆
I don't remember I've been watching you guys for a couple months
Thank for sharing! Weird question....I’m currently working on a surprise anniversary gift for my partner, I’m trying to get little love notes from all over the world, including all 50 US states and I still need one from Oklahoma .
It would just entail writing out a little note in marker and then taking/sending a pic of it.
If you can’t help, no worries.

Hopefully we can make some content geared for college students in the future to give you more stuff to do. But in the meantime def check out the video I linked to get an idea of a few things Norman has to offer
@@LivinanOKlife that's fantastic thank you! Will definitely give that a watch and I can't wait to get over there - been told its going to be a real culture shock ahaha!

by the time you pay for gas and 10 a day parking it's cheaper just to fly from OKC
Yea we haven't been able to find any good deals lately from Dallas so we've been flying from okc too. Everything is getting so expensive! 👎🏽
Youtwo are just so fresking cute. Loved the video. See you next time!
Lol thank you ☺
#livinganoklife I am planning a trip to OKC ...does a travellers guide exsist? Do you have references what to explore in Okc? Are there National Parks?
Yes!!! So hopefully you aren't coming in the next week if so it may not be here in time. If you go to www.travelok.com/brochures you can get free books of everything to do here! It's soooo helpful I get them every year. They have 2021 travel guide and a state park guide and soo many other ones on there. You can get them shipped to your house for free or just download them immediately. I like the actual books though. Hope this helps!
First class on any flight for me
This was extremely helpful!
Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful for you
I was looking to move oklahoma like small country with small population and land any suggestions
Pretty much any place besides okc, tulsa, and the surrounding suburbs are small populations with plenty of land. I don't think it would be too hard to find a property anywhere. It really depends which part of Oklahoma you are looking at to go to.

WE ARE THINKING TO MOVE TO OK FROM CALIFORNIA
WHAT ABOUT ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS?
HOMESCHOOL GROUPS?
Plenty of activities for kids like zoo, the science museum, Frontier City, Hurricane Harbor, Dave n Busters, main event, celebration station, Round 1, Blue Zoo, factory obscura, National cowboy museum, brickopolis, the whole boathouse district, plenty of parks and lakes like Lake Hefner, scissortail park, lake Arcadia, Martin Nature park. There's an abundance of things to do here. As far as home school groups I am unsure of. I would try to find a group on Facebook because that seems like something they would have around here.
