Maybe some video ideas for the next few Videos: "Can Elden Ring compete with Hello Kitty Online?" "Is Rings of Power better than Lotr?" "Can i beat Michael Phelps in 400m freestyle swimming?"
The real question is will Path of Exile 2 be able to attract more casual not typical ARPG players? D4 for an ARPG fan isn't even remotely competitive. It's when it comes to the vastly more casual player they have some chance.
Exactly, D4 is an ARPG for the casual players, mostly dads that only get to play 1-5 hours a week and they can achieve what they want in the game. PoE is for the hardcore ARPG gamers. The two games have some cross-fans, but their core audience isn’t the same at all. They will both exist and have plenty of players for years to come.
@@eddyram4932 exactly, I don't know why there's a dick measuring contest for games where its a completely different audience. POE 2 has to even convince its old POE audience to switch and embrace its less zoomy gameplay.
@@eddyram4932Dad here with very limited time. I still play POE instead of D3/4. I may not be able to get to the pinnacle in the game but it is fun as shit anyway. I would rather play something awesome with so many ways to build characters and ways to play than spend time on “beating a game”.
@@LlenadeMalo as a dad also, it's nice having options with PoE that if I wanna go blast maps or chill and work on gear or do a ridiculous amount of other things
D4 is barely on par with D3, if D3 (with reaper DLC ofc) is a new game now, it will likely draw more players in than D4. The main reason GGG delayed poe2 comfortably is that there is no competitor
No level scaling in PoE1/PoE2. The further you get, the stronger and more badass you feel. This also means players who take their time exploring and over level will have an easier time slapping those campaign bosses around, and makes playing suboptimal stuff more viable and fun.
The main difference between the two for me, and the reason why I don't feel like playing diablo 4, Is that it feels like Diablo just want us to spend money every x months. I don't feel an incentive to do any particular content, and the fun cosmetics being locked behind a battle pass everytime is annoying. And PoE wants you to have fun and enjoy the game. I got all challenges down last league, had fun doing it, felt like the rewards were cool enough. And me wanting to spend money into the game is just a feeling that comes from me enjoying the game and feeling like they deserve it.
There is absolutely no chance for me to ever buy a blizzard game again. Way to many times have i been disappointed with the state that they release a product in and charge overprice for their crap. Now they have audacity to release an "expansion" before the game is barely fixed. I don't get why people still throw money after this expensive but average crap.
Same! Fuck Blizz! Whats strange to me is all the streamers I was following for each class (barb, druid, necro, rogue, sorc) all of them played only Spiritborn. NONE of them touched any other class... I imagined this players as something more then "yea this build is crushing it with this bugs" but I dont care...So fuck this streamers as well :)
Many people don't give a damn about PoE 1 or 2 and will keep playing D4. I know even players who so far decided to stick with PoE 1 over 2 as their main game because they don't like the revealed changes. I see this "Wow, PoE 2 will crush everything, everyone is going to play it and nothing else!" and its so wrong lol.
Can it compete? No because it doesn't have to, it'll do fine regardless, but PoE2 will also do very well and likely exceed any expectations GGG have. It probably won't reach 10 million players but it'll certainly be a huge success for GGG.
D4 will not compete with PoE2 and vice versa. Their target audience is different, one is casual, the other is more hardcore. D4 caters to gamer dads who don’t have the time to grind and minmax, while PoE2 will be more for hardcore grinders who want to squeeze every little drop of damage out of their builds. Both games will be parallel to each other with a small group playing both at the same time👌
As a dad I have to disagree. D4 doesn't really give me anything to focus on and gets boring extremely quickly. In PoE, I might not get THE BEST build by the end of the league, I usually can at least clear the non-uber bosses. It also actually has options in things I can do
Please stop spamming the "gamer dads" line. It is simply a made up meme-type phrase that has nothing to do with reality. For button clickers, D4 is the way, while for an in-depth experience PoE2 beckons. It's simple as that. Has nothing to do with having offspring or limited time, but everything with the nature of the gamer involved.
Blizzard going for the Nintendo strategy. No sweat in the game (maybe not to the point of sueing sweaters as the do), don’t make the next mario64 oot as thats catching the carrot, and listen to everything on Reddit made by the hardcore casuals that don’t play the game. Sadly I bet they make tons of money and tons more players over what indie companies do and the company still considers it a failure lol
I expect the same. But maybe in a year or 2 for poe 2. And by that time d4 will have a few more chances to make a decent endgame. Current season added some. Needs more polishing. But definitely in the right direction 👌 being able to target farm mythic or any item in greater detail is amazingly good.
I think you just described me perfectly. Played a lot of Diablo but ready for something more and deeper. Never got into poe1 cause the barrier to entry was too high. But will try poe2
It's like trying to compare a group of people who meet up to play a sport casually versus people who are actually in an organized sport league. They're both fun, but one of them actually has more depth to it, and if you're looking to challenge yourself you'll find more enjoyment in the organized league thus making it more fun for you. If you have absolutely no care for challenge and just want to meet up with your buds for a quick casual game then that's going to be more your speed and you'll probably have more fun with that. Diablo 4 caters almost entirely to the casual market PoE1 caters to the more serious gamer market PoE2 looks like it might be the best of both worlds(at a surface look) We'll have to wait and see.
I never thought i'd see the day that spending money on some food and packs of beer would bring me more value than a Diablo expansion would. I just watched the cinematics on youtube and pat myself on the back for making sure blizzard doesnt get another cent out of me.
Pretty hard for to compete with a free to play game when your game cost full price, has battlepass, item shop with skins for 30 bucks and $40 addons ^^ let alone the issues the game is still having.
There's no saving for d4. During s2 or s3 I don't recall correctly which but in one of their campfire chat related to announcement of new expansion they seemingly took an oath that they will never introduce "pay for power", fast forward a few months and what happens ? We have new area that is not accessible without 40$ meaning I have less skill and paragon points and no access to runes. And this treatment will continue on and on. As more expansions get released I will just fall behind in power. So much for d4 dev team promises.
that actually concerns me as I am worried about its longer term depth potential as that is what a POE player actually wants and if the player base dilutes that and skew the game away from it it will die a death of casual players losing interest as they do and die hards never gaining an interest.
@@mnewm21 you don't have to worry. PoE2 is going to be quite difficult to control if you want to combo more than 2-3 skills (the ones you bind to your mouse buttons) while also using flasks and WASD for movement. There's more potential for depth and application of player mechanical skill than PoE1. It's a smart way to scale difficulty because the casual players won't even notice, they'll just use a few skills based on what ends up on mouse1 and 2.
D4 died a long time ago its still garbage to this day its just incredible boring, everyone plays the exact same builds there is no creativity with builds like poe the game is just catered to casuals.
Are you describing Diablo or Poe? Cuz that's exactly what Poe is. And you say all this like you aren't on maxroll looking up builds every season on Poe, like you got all this theory crafting you want to do and don't want to just bee line to end game and hold one button while someone else's math does all the work for you. At least d4 feels like a challenge even with the stronger builds (glitched bullshit like the spirit born aside) even at endgame. Poe endgame is a joke.
@@godofm3tal1 This is completely untrue. There is absolutely no build crafting in diablo 4. If I want to play a summoner, I have to play Necro, its not like I can choose a different class to summon skellies or golems. If I want to play a mage, I have to play sorcerer. You are literally put on a linear path the moment you decide what to play.Granted you have a tree where you can play a mage that uses fire or ice. Druid can summon as well but specific to only their own pets. In POE I can choose summoner, lets see do I want to play Holy relic, Zoomancer, Summon Raging Spirits, Spectres, oh shit do I play it on Witch or should I go Champion. Lets say I want to play lightning strike, well I can play that on Gladiator, Jugg, or Pathfinder or even the new Ascendency, which i forgot the name of. These are different classes that can use the skills you wouldnt normally find on these classes The reaosn for this is the fundemental way the games are built upon. D4 makes you choose a character and you have to play the skills that character has. Path makes you choose a character/class and you have Gems that give you the skills you want to play, which completely opens up how you can build that character. I am not the biggest hater of d4, but it is absolutely incorrect saying that POE some how has no creativity for builds. I will even give you a hot take, that may not be so hot if you play other ARPGs. Torchlight infinite has a similar design to POE and it is absolutely crushing. The 2nd best ARPG out there behind POE 1. Each class can use skills normally not for them and you can do that with every single class. There is a atlas passive tree for the end game, which is a very good end game. D4 still seems like it doesnt have an end game. I played last season and it was just boring helltides and nightmare dungeons.
@@godofm3tal1 Maxroll? Unlike D4, there are countless of builds that viably clear the endgame while making hundreds/thousands of divs in the process. You aren't forced to follow a guide to be successful. The PoE builds on Maxroll aren't even the strongest builds in the game. Also D4 endgame is a joke, you only think it is "hard" because it is designed around the 2-3 builds the developers hand picked for you to play while everything else is horribly balanced. PoE is designed around letting you play what skills you want to play.
@godofm3tal1 what are you talking about I play 2 new builds every league for the past 10 leauges the game never gets boring, where as d4 I hit Max level and I'm bored
Wow, what great graphics! It's so cool to see permanently large yellow numbers on the entire screen! It's amazing that no other game developer has thought of this yet; they would have made billions of dollars by now.
The worst thing in d4 is that if you completed doing stuff at Torment 1 there is nothing more for you to see. The same with skills, if you have some skill unlocked at lvl 12 and it will be your character main skill it wont change at all for the rest of the game. And fighting is very dull, you are oneshoting everything or you are oneshoted, or you are fighting boring monsters and bossess for 10 minutes because this game scales awfully. The fighting is the best from 1st to 10th character level where monster scaling is done quite well.
Exactly this is what my wife felt. She doesn't play aRPGs but wanted to give D4 a shot to see if it's as bad as she heard it was from me. One-shot everything and so it was boring So many weird cutscene interactions that break immersion weird narrative moment where you get poisoned and then 20 minutes later, yeah I totally trust the food this stranger is going to give me Conclusion : She'd play PoE if the game had better story. Blizz should stop making games and just make movies.
casual vs more advanced arpg. one game gives you a few toys to play the other leaves you alone in the sandbox with all the toys. different games for different players. But if poe 2 manages to win over more people by making it more accessible for beginners..i think that would be a w too
Played it like how I play league POE and took a PTO for one week. Done with all season challenges and reached torment 4 in two days. In POE, I will be faming by this point for my true end game build.
do you know whats really sad? the vast majority of poe players want diablo to be good just as much as the die hard diablo players yet diablo players think the opposite because of brand loyalty
Its die hard blizzard players that refuse to see flaws in blizzard games and almost exclusively play games made by blizzard like WOW and diablo. They refuse to ackwnowledge or appreciate better games in those genres such as POE because they are invested too much in the Activision Blizzard ecosystem of games. The one thing that activision blizz is still good at is keeping their loyal playerbase playing frequently through activities like dailies.
This is true. I'm a die hard PoE fan, but man I wish D4 was good! I really do. When I first bought the game (still regret that to this day), I genuinely enjoyed the campaign with my friends. Then very shortly after doing the campaign, there is nothing. No real endgame and nothing to do, and I don't even play that much. Then I log into PoE and it's the opposite, I'm more so overwhelmed by how many things I have yet to do to progress, and that feeling, as someone who doesn't play 8 hours a day, lasts for almost the whole season. D4 just has no sense of keeping the playerbase playing, like Ghazzy says, it's like 1-2 weeks tops and then I am so bored. Only thing left to do is to grind pits until you get an item with correct affixes to try to upgrade, then that fails, your back to grinding that item to try to upgrade the correct affixes again, and then again, and then again. I wouldn't even consider myself "advanced" or anything like that. I am a dad with two children and a wife who enjoys 2-3 hours playing in the evening and maybe more during the weekends if I don't need to go with the wife to IKEA, and still, PoE is just much much better even for that time invested. The hardest thing is to start playing and learning, but once you get that ball rolling, there are almost no limits. Also, having this expansion, well, an expansion, instead of free update, was the greediest and scummiest bullshit ever. If this "expansion" would have been free, it would have actually brought so many players back and they MAYBE would have gained some respect back.
Brand loyalty is weird and I’m a Blizzard fan boy. But I know a good ARPG when I see one and I can not wait to tackle this game as I never got into the first one much. This seems to be the game I wish Diablo could have been or could still become someday. /wishful thinking
@@BasegFarmer Blizzard addressed already major bugs, including the Infernal Hordes one, GhazzyTV video was also fresh only 2 hours ago was uploaded when I did the test, why did it take a few days to address? Geez, maybe blizzard wants people to have fun and get away with it, the gold cost of some items at the beginning of the launch is indeed strange, but it's happening also in PoE, acting like there is no inflation in PoE is preposterous.
I haven't played D4 in a year as it was not interresting for me to 'test their bug fixes'. Also, I do not have the money for the expansion right now. But, I haven's at all any reviews of Season 6 WITHOUT the expansion so I am wondering how it feel. For that, I may use some of the time between now and POE2 to try it out and see how it goes or if the expansion is crucial at all. Especially since I am not interrested at all in coop of the dark citadel.
the fact you needed to buy the base game THEN pay FAT money for very basic/static mtx THEN pay for a season access with content clearable in 5 days tops...like why arent any of these fucking streamers talking about that aberrant bank heist????? how is that still ok???
I think it's important to note "how" a company gains "good will". They gain it by having multiple releases without bugs/exploits. It doesn't matter how much you communicate if you never actually fix these issues. And it doesn't matter how many bugs/exploits you fix, if they keep coming back over and over. A good comparison is Last Epoch. They are also suffering from something similar. Each launch is plagued by some new exploit/bug that ruins the "economy" and tons of people jump ship and complain about yet another awful season. If they need more time to iron out the bugs, they probably should, or if they have enough time then get better QA testers.
Greed cant compete with actual love for a game making and care for playerbase. Even if i was given D4 expansion for free and 50.000 Platinum ,i still wouldnt be playing it. I havent even watched single video about expansion and i couldnt care less. If they added actual class people asked for (sword&board) id play it without thinking twice. Instead of that , they added class no one ever asked for. Rod Fergusson previously worked on Gears of War . ''''''He is solely responsible for ruining Gears Of War 2 and the downfall of Gears 4/5'''''' Then after getting fired ,he came to work for Blizzard in 2020 and to take charge of D4 development.
i havent played poe 2 yet but i am really excited because it seems so different to poe1. If we compare POE1 and D4 these games do not really compete in any way since they are so different in almost every way. Looking at poe 2.... i see they took some inspiration of the more modern arpgs including d4. The universal dodge that is standard since wolcen i feel, of course the improved visuals that are standard today, more skillbased bossfights that realy more on mechanics than just moving out of the way and stats. Also the combat thats shown so far tries to keep the animation speed and combat speed at a level where tactical decissions can be made (d4 and wolcen did that too). The one thing i see is that the slower paced combat was not really liked by the d4 community and thats why we see some powercreep there to get to the "blasting" builds that just delete the whole screen again with one click and piano the rest of the buttons (basically the poe1 gameplay) - Also the poe1 community mostly like this kind of combat. So the question will be - will this combat style work out for POE2 or will they run into similar problems because even their prequel game and the current POE community might not like the new playstyle. If they are sold to stick to this gameplay they might have to find a community outside of that of d4 AND Poe1 and then it gets interesting. Of course we have not seen POE2 endgame builds and the good thing is that they keep their complexity and build variety But there might actually be a switch in gamedesign where a game like d4 represent the poe1 playstyle more than POE 2 does, while the oldschool d2 fans might find their thing in poe2........ however it will turn out, these games will not really share userbases but will coexist and most likely we will have 2 amazing arpgs in the end
Been playing Diablo 4 pretty hard, probably about 50 hours and I am about ready to throw in the towel. It was okay-ish for the expansion price, but something feels off. Maybe it was because I was forcing myself to play the spiritborn, but I am not sure. I may give it a whirl again as we wait for PoE2, but yeah, just a bit burnt out. Not sure why as there is a lot to do.. but maybe it is because it is a pain to switch builds, and I don't want to re-roll again.
Blizzard would have to patch these exploits ASAP before PoE 2 comes out or it will hurt it's chances of competing with the competition. Exploits severely hurt the enjoyment of the game, and when there's big competition you want the game to be as enjoyable as possible. If Blizzard thinks that intentionally keeping these exploits in game will boost the enjoyment of the community then they are gravely mistaken. Blizzard needs to listen to community and the community takes class balance seriously.
we might think about it when D4 reaches the level of D3. Right now D4 is undergoing a permanent open heart surgery trying to find itself. But in any case it probably won't be able to contend with POE 2 for the hardcore long lasting audience, it has to go towards captivating the D3 audience to have a chance IMO.
my only problem with D4 now, is that as always blizzard makes u feel like if u didn't got the expantion, you're cooked. the new class outperforms all of the others by far and that should've not be the case. if you're not playing green monk, you're not getting the best of the game
I will not believe that PoE2 is beginner friendly unless I experience it myself. There is no way a non player can get a hold on the game by him/herself and create a viable build for the endgame.
I think i spent $3 to unlock the full season challenge rewards in PoE. If i want to do the same in Diablo im looking at $15 give or take. This disparity of roughly 5x the price should make me feel like making more of an effort to finish D4 season challenges because i payed more for it but i just cant force myself to play it anymore. The leveling/item grind just feels like I should be getting paid instead. PoE makes me feel like something cool will drop pretty much through the entire game and leveling and learning is a constant dopamine hit as well. Just my 2 cents.
Poe 2 is what diablo 2 wants as a successor Poe 1 is like the speed induce child of diablo 2 The tempo of poe 2 is what diablo 2 has As you go further into end game, you get the fast pace that is similar to diablo 2 I just pray people dont tunnle vision on what poe 1 has, and expect it on poe 2
I am hesitantly optimistic but D4 in all their gameplay trailers before release was slower combat. But once you hit mid/end game your blitzing monsters in .1 seconds like in PoE. Did the devs say that would not happen in PoE2?
Unfortunately the diablo name is so mainstream, it will always sell. They lost their original player base, but gained a larger one. I don't find d4 fun at all, but if more casual gamers enjoy it I guess it's fine for them.
I enjoy the current D4, it´s a fun distraction between other games. The Lack of content in the expansion was a let down and the over all variety of content in the endgame is still too low to keep me engaged for longer periods.
it actually will never be a question, they aren't in the same league, diablo 4 literally can't even catch up to the first iteration literally even if we gave them 20 years, their design philosophies and what kind of player they design diablo for. and it isn't actually gamers, it is casual player focused as many other titles continue to pursue and wonder why games die out so fast, casual players do not keep a game alive at all, if we took say raxx for example and put his play time next to literally every single casual player that has ever logged into diablo 4, the hours played are probably very eerily close, so why are we dubbing the game down so the players that plays the absolute most gets scuffed out of content/difficulty/challenge/grind just to accommodate tens or hundreds of thousands maybe even millions of players that don't play the game virtually ever, these design decisions keep making games easier and easier with less and less depth and yet the average skill/playtime of casuals is still below the fucking floor boards cause players don't learn or want to continue when you hand feed them the game.
PoE2 vs D4 is a case study in human psychology. PoE2 has a cult of personality level following, where D4 is receiving hate from all angles deserved and otherwise. The actual gameplay hardly matters anymore on Reddit or wherever these armchair debates are had. As with most things in life the answer is in the middle. This whole situation has really revealed which content creators just want to play fun games opposed to rage farm clickbait. Your podcasts with DM really exemplify bringing the fun back to game commentary opposed to being elitist/hostile. I'll continue enjoying D4, continue enjoying PoE, am hoping LE improves, and will probably not have the bandwidth to get into PoE2. I wish the best for all of these games and look forward to your future coverage of them all.
I hate how they nerfed everything except Spiritborn to the ground, there is absolutely no class balance, even Necro release in D3 wasn't that bad. Everything else is fine, bugs happen, I believe they will be addressed.
D4 is much better than people realize, however, the existing PTR and the fact that there are guides for everything 5 days beore the season starts and everything in the meta is solved is just sooo dum that I cannot bring my self to play it again.
D4 offers something different to POE, I think it depends on how many hours you want to invest into a game. I expect POE2 will end up being no different to POE1 in complexity, but only time will tell. I can't wait to see both franchises pushing ARPGs forwards!
I have loved poe for a decade, have many 100s, it is my favorite game of all time. Knowing what I know now if given the choice between boat league or playing D4 I would play D4. That being said leagues cater to different people and I will be back for every league but people act like D4 is not even competition to PoE and I don't see it that way. Hated D4 on launch now I find it quite fun, though it doesn't seem to have the same grab me for a month or two power a good poe league does. The community has gone too far on the D4 hate imo, and personally I hope both games do well so I have more options to play at more times in the year.
You have a cup of coffee with Diablo. Even a caveman like me can follow a build guide, craft decent equipment and slam some endgame content. Great for a week or three per season. Path of Exile is more of a lifestyle. You can play for years and never fully understand everything. I still can't follow crafting guides...lol
Ok, so one button builds will be doable in poe2 but also they dont want you to play that way which translates that these builds will be worse than 2-5 button builds therefore unplayable? I mean, why would anyone able to play one button builds play anything as unefficient as more button builds with the same damage output? Im getting the impression that ggg wants to tick too many boxes here.
D4's problem is that it comes across as a corporate money grab scheme rather than interest in making a quality product. And this has nothing to do with existence or non-existence of PoE, PoE2, or any other game. I, and all my friends, uninstalled D4 because of our disappointment with Blizzard, long before any of us tried PoE. Blizzard hasn't even managed to clean up their bug pile in D3, never mind D4. What they have managed in the meantime, however, is to create scandalous working conditions within their own company, then hire a union busting firm to cover up their mess. Over the years, Blizzard have systematically demonstrated a lack or responsiveness to the player base. They have demonstrated a lack of understanding of their own games, including basic arithmetic surrounding combat and class balance. You say that the game is on the right path? Is it? 18 months after a beta status product got pawned off as a finished game, D4 has been reduced to one class, which eclipses all others...how is that a right path? To what?
What do we mean by compete? Diablo 4 has a name brand and a casual audience. It will make more money. Path of exile is more hardcore. But its design is inherently a point of friction with players at large. They serve different audiences, but Diablo has the larger audience by far.
Can D4 compete with POE2? That has got to be the most ridiculous question of comparison one could come up with. Just because a demon company charges their fanboys with overpriced 'games', doesn't mean that game is actually good. Hilarious. Only fanboys will defend D4.
poe2 won't stay new player friendly, with every league they will keep adding layers and layers to the game until all but the most hardcore new players will feel overwhelmed and uninstall it.
They say there is no pay to win.. but it seens they never balanced the core classes and made the new one far superior to anything else.. wouldnt that make the new class pay to win?
I havn't even bought base game, its deffo going in the right direction. BUT i'll never buy an arpg that has scaling enemies, it removes the whole progression element. I kinda want to try it, but not before they fix that.

I play D4 and POE and will play POE2. The only reason that I play D4 anymore is cause it's more enjoyable to me to play with friends. The POE experience is more a solo experience and tontry and play with another person is actually more trouble than it's worth. If they make it more enjoyable to play 2 3 or 4 man groups and made real like support builds other than aura bots I'd be POE2 all the way. I think that is also one of D4s problems as well. Every build is just max solo damage and win. No reason to play with others really.
D4 looks good now, but I have an irrational hatred of Blizzard after they ruined the franchises that I grew up with. So even though it makes no sense, I wont play D4 because I'm a hater. But it's cool that people are enjoying the game now.
Yes and no. D4 have a simpler system that a lot of players can digest without needing a guide. If POE2 have the same system as POE, those who don't want to look or invest time to read a guide/build will quicky find it overwhelming.
D4 is fun for about 5 days tops... After about 5 days the average players is most likely able to one shot every boss with ease and there is nothing to actually do anymore other than push The Pit which is boring and not rewarding... The original progressions in D4 is fun but you quickly hit a point where nothing is even remotely challenging and then the fun immediately disappears.
I'd say Diablo 4 can't compete with PoE2 because they're two difference types of game. I felt that PoE2 is a vision of "slow ruthles-type" of game trying to empower heavy hits, no speedy boys

D4 is currently not competing with anything and im still not playing it xD
The real question is will Path of Exile 2 be able to attract more casual not typical ARPG players? D4 for an ARPG fan isn't even remotely competitive. It's when it comes to the vastly more casual player they have some chance.
Exactly, D4 is an ARPG for the casual players, mostly dads that only get to play 1-5 hours a week and they can achieve what they want in the game. PoE is for the hardcore ARPG gamers. The two games have some cross-fans, but their core audience isn’t the same at all. They will both exist and have plenty of players for years to come.
Some things i enjoy in path of exile, but the crafting system is just to vast for me... I don't have the patience to learn it
@@eddyram4932 exactly, I don't know why there's a dick measuring contest for games where its a completely different audience.
Definitely can’t compete. Look at the difference in how they look. Is there level scaling in POE 2. It’s game over for me with Diablo 4.
No level scaling in PoE1/PoE2. The further you get, the stronger and more badass you feel.
This also means players who take their time exploring and over level will have an easier time slapping those campaign bosses around, and makes playing suboptimal stuff more viable and fun.
The main difference between the two for me, and the reason why I don't feel like playing diablo 4,
Is that it feels like Diablo just want us to spend money every x months.
The new cosmetics in the raid are very cool. All free btw...
The spirit born has two bugs that give them 11,000 crit damage and another straight up 10x multiplier on damage, they don’t test shit in d4.
they test but they don't know how to play
they put the bugs in on purpose to make the new class OP so players feel obliged to buy the new expansion.
What about Poe ? How many build diversity is there? There are a few meta builds and the rest are meh unless you invest a lot
Bro as soon as poe 2 come out u won't even consider playing d4
I feel like blizzard needs to take a mountain in the face… and i hope this will be the case with poe2
Thing is poe 2 has so much hype, i doubt it will meet expectations in launch. If launch goes bad, all hype gone
Can it compete? No because it doesn't have to, it'll do fine regardless, but PoE2 will also do very well and likely exceed any expectations GGG have. It probably won't reach 10 million players but it'll certainly be a huge success for GGG.
Psst, POE players soon telling you how wrong you are :D (even if you aren't).

@@kieranclarke4373 gamer dads👍
D4 will continue to serve its casual audience well but I’m sure PoE 2 will snag a good amount of players that are just not being fulfilled.
Man, i consider myself casual but i prefeer 100% PoE. I play D4 for like 1week and It gets boring coz no endgame
I think you just described me perfectly. Played a lot of Diablo but ready for something more and deeper. Never got into poe1 cause the barrier to entry was too high. But will try poe2
@@matthewmay8572 If you get into PoE 2 on the ground floor you’ll be able to learn and keep up with the game as it evolves. Good plan!
Diablo 4 caters almost entirely to the casual market
PoE1 caters to the more serious gamer market
PoE2 looks like it might be the best of both worlds(at a surface look) We'll have to wait and see.
I never thought i'd see the day that spending money on some food and packs of beer would bring me more value than a Diablo expansion would. I just watched the cinematics on youtube and pat myself on the back for making sure blizzard doesnt get another cent out of me.
Pretty hard for to compete with a free to play game when your game cost full price, has battlepass, item shop with skins for 30 bucks and $40 addons ^^ let alone the issues the game is still having.
also skins are only for one specific class each.
@@Sjeg84 yes which makes it even worse
Not even a DLC where you finally get to fight Diablo would save them atm..
I have no interest giving Blizzard anymore money for anything D4 related at this point.
Their target audience is not you lol
But they don't need to be saved because D4 is doing fine.
I'm glad to hear that PoE2 has an easier entry than PoE1. I've seen a few 'first timer' videos and they are painful to watch.
that actually concerns me as I am worried about its longer term depth potential as that is what a POE player actually wants and if the player base dilutes that and skew the game away from it it will die a death of casual players losing interest as they do and die hards never gaining an interest.
@@IncredibleGoliath i still worry...🤣 so many developers get their next game wrong...
@@godofm3tal1nobody that plays poe uses maxrolls builds...
These are different classes that can use the skills you wouldnt normally find on these classes
The reaosn for this is the fundemental way the games are built upon.
The fighting is the best from 1st to 10th character level where monster scaling is done quite well.

do you know whats really sad? the vast majority of poe players want diablo to be good just as much as the die hard diablo players yet diablo players think the opposite because of brand loyalty
VERY TRUE. where do you think most poe players came from? diablo!
@@ECI5858 You might as well just switch POE and Diablo, same thing, same playerbase behaviour.

Then after getting fired ,he came to work for Blizzard in 2020 and to take charge of D4 development.
i havent played poe 2 yet but i am really excited because it seems so different to poe1.
When PoE 2 releases, everyone will forget about D4.
we might think about it when D4 reaches the level of D3. Right now D4 is undergoing a permanent open heart surgery trying to find itself. But in any case it probably won't be able to contend with POE 2 for the hardcore long lasting audience, it has to go towards captivating the D3 audience to have a chance IMO.
its like asking a question if a worm can outrun a cheetah
my only problem with D4 now, is that as always blizzard makes u feel like if u didn't got the expantion, you're cooked.
the new class outperforms all of the others by far and that should've not be the case. if you're not playing green monk, you're not getting the best of the game
I will not believe that PoE2 is beginner friendly unless I experience it myself. There is no way a non player can get a hold on the game by him/herself and create a viable build for the endgame.
Short Answer: No.

From a mechanics standpoint no. Not remotely close.
From a player base standpoint absolutely. From a revenue standpoint absolutely.
Everyday, before going sleep, i kneel infront of bed and hard preying for poe 2 and asking god to not let poe2 be like d4
Poe 2 is what diablo 2 wants as a successor
Poe 1 is like the speed induce child of diablo 2
The tempo of poe 2 is what diablo 2 has
As you go further into end game, you get the fast pace that is similar to diablo 2
I just pray people dont tunnle vision on what poe 1 has, and expect it on poe 2
I am hesitantly optimistic but D4 in all their gameplay trailers before release was slower combat. But once you hit mid/end game your blitzing monsters in .1 seconds like in PoE. Did the devs say that would not happen in PoE2?

D4 hard pushing microtansactions from day 1 lost me.
D4 made for general public.
PoE2 made for gamers.
I like how the video of D4 is a whole bunch of damage text blocking the player from seeing anything.
it actually will never be a question, they aren't in the same league, diablo 4 literally can't even catch up to the first iteration literally even if we gave them 20 years, their design philosophies and what kind of player they design diablo for. and it isn't actually gamers, it is casual player focused as many other titles continue to pursue and wonder why games die out so fast, casual players do not keep a game alive at all, if we took say raxx for example and put his play time next to literally every single casual player that has ever logged into diablo 4, the hours played are probably very eerily close, so why are we dubbing the game down so the players that plays the absolute most gets scuffed out of content/difficulty/challenge/grind just to accommodate tens or hundreds of thousands maybe even millions of players that don't play the game virtually ever, these design decisions keep making games easier and easier with less and less depth and yet the average skill/playtime of casuals is still below the fucking floor boards cause players don't learn or want to continue when you hand feed them the game.
14 minutes to explain "No".
D4 and PoE are different categories of ARPG. D4 is a casual ARPG and PoE is not.
Do you think D4 exp worth 40$? I probably would play only for story though
D4 offers something different to POE, I think it depends on how many hours you want to invest into a game. I expect POE2 will end up being no different to POE1 in complexity, but only time will tell. I can't wait to see both franchises pushing ARPGs forwards!

The community has gone too far on the D4 hate imo, and personally I hope both games do well so I have more options to play at more times in the year.
D4 doesn't stand a fucking chance once POE2 comes
To what?
I only know one thing and that is that I will play both on and off for years.
What do we mean by compete? Diablo 4 has a name brand and a casual audience. It will make more money.
Path of exile is more hardcore. But its design is inherently a point of friction with players at large.
They serve different audiences, but Diablo has the larger audience by far.
Poe still has yet to show any endgame content 😂😂😂
do you remember the d4 beta where they only let us lvl to 25?
I really like to understand why do you care how people play the game. I never understand people who complain about a game being bug.
Actually playing Diablo 2 Resurrected Reimagined instead of D4, and it's way more fun.
People should give D4 more credit for introducing new players to POE. Thanks blizzard D4DED
I love the subtle mockery (unintentional?) of D4 in the title. "Can d4 compete with poe2?, while D4 is already out and POE2 isn't hahaha
gameplay wise: fuck no. nostalgia wise: for sure
Just came for the comments, didnt disappoint
I havn't even bought base game, its deffo going in the right direction. BUT i'll never buy an arpg that has scaling enemies, it removes the whole progression element. I kinda want to try it, but not before they fix that.
allrdy fixed months ago
@@sihro8801 really?
@@sihro8801 from what i can see they just "removed levels" which means they are at your difficulty. i want a mob to have a level, so if i go there early its super tough, if i go to that area later its super easy etc. i want progression. that doesn't seem to have changed. can you please direct me to a post showing that they fixed this, can't find it with my google fu.
@@Ghork1 no im just making shit up for the fun of it xD, yes rly
@@sihro8801 everyewhere i check it looks as though monsters are set to player level. do you have alink to those patch nodes or a clip, don't want to pay for the game if this isn't true.
Can Lost Ark compete with Path of Exile? - Absolutely not.
Can Lost Ark compete with WoW? - Totaly yes.
So, can WoW compete with Path of Exile? Can a potato compete with an orange?
14-minute-long video? This could be done in a short video with one word.
Well if the trade system in the game requires me to open a forum then hell no. I’ll gladly mindlessly play D4 until then
The endgame and character systems are so basic in D4 that it will never compete with POE, different auidence, D4 trying to herd the casuals.
These spamming numbers would make me go insane
Lol you cant compare a Ferrari to an average car
Yes and no. D4 have a simpler system that a lot of players can digest without needing a guide. If POE2 have the same system as POE, those who don't want to look or invest time to read a guide/build will quicky find it overwhelming.
The real question is can Path of Exile 2 compete with Path of Exile 3.x?
what the hell is the point of the damage numbers if you cant even read them. . . . .
D4 is fun for about 5 days tops... After about 5 days the average players is most likely able to one shot every boss with ease and there is nothing to actually do anymore other than push The Pit which is boring and not rewarding... The original progressions in D4 is fun but you quickly hit a point where nothing is even remotely challenging and then the fun immediately disappears.
seeing those inflated dmg numbers on screen, I guess they messed up with stats scaling again perhaps ? will they ever learn ?
I'd say Diablo 4 can't compete with PoE2 because they're two difference types of game. I felt that PoE2 is a vision of "slow ruthles-type" of game trying to empower heavy hits, no speedy boys
