Really great piece of work. It's funny for me to see the connections between goalies in different sports. Hello there; I sure hope that you followed through with your thoughts. being a goalkeeper is touch in so many ways. When I was young I lost my nerve as a goalkeeper after coming off worst in a one to one. My first injury. It was during a training match during trails for the youth team of my island. It was one goalkeeper vs 3 forwards. So i was really up against it, but one on one was my speciality. I acted fast and got the ball, but I also got the foot that was meant to connect to the ball. I was severly winded and dropped the ball and the other team went on to score. I finished the game without any problems and it's from that point everything went wrong. The coaches decided that I'd fallen off the horse and had to get back on, so to speak. They took me into the gym and forced me to make one on one saves. This was completely unnatural to me and despite what had happened up until this point I'd not registered anything as being wrong. Instead this workout did the opposite and instilled fear into me, that hadn't been there before. Why the coaches felt the need to take such action, I don't know. I'd not exhibited any fear during the game after the accident, nothing was broken. I just had sever bruising of the ribs and got on with the game. Then the league team I was playing for made matters worse and that was the end of any dream that I had to play pro football. I kept on playing, but the fear was always there. I became depressed and became ever more depressed. I loved my football. I was only 14 at the time and it took 40 years before I regained my full confidence. Now at 61, forwards would rather give me the ball, than I come and get it! I now what depression is, I've lived with it for decades, but now I am able to cope with it for the most part, but where my football is concerned, I manage to leave it in the dressing room. So if you haven't, I encourage you to do so. And if you have, good for you. remember the ball has to get past the 10 players in front of you, before it can get past you. You're there to basically save their necks, they rely on you. You have to keep them in the game, without you the team doesn't stand a chance and they have to do their job in defending and in scoring! The Black Panther (Players started calling me this when I was 11 and playing senior football in the business league. I was 6'2" and they never realised how young I was.)
I remember when i was a futsal goalie on my high school and college. It's so much fun when i got to deny couple great shots from great strikers + when i got to save the penalty. It's brilliant feeling to me. But, the worst part being a goalie was no matter how many saves you got, they still gonna blame for 1 or 2 mistakes lead to goal even worst they boo-ing you from the seats.
BB TV He spent the majority of his childhood in Canada. BUT, since he chose Bosnia & Herzegovina, I consider him a Bosnian. AND, according to FIFA, he is Bosnian.

I am a Goalkeeper myself and a lot of my mates often ask me why I chose to be at the wrong end of the team. I often get discouraged when goals are scored pass me but I take it as a learning opportunity and improve myself. To all the GKs out there, you are the true G.
Thanks you FourFourTwo for this video I love listening to these professional goalkeepers opinions and I believe it will help the goalkeeper Union grow so cheers and keep up the good work #GoalkeeperUnion💪🏼
as striker i honestly dont enjoy playing against tough goal keepers but when i face one and he makes me frastruted i congratulate him personally after the game and wish him all the best
i don’t find it lonely, i love my back line more than anything and i find a way to appreciate how much they protect me and how i could never do what they do
It’s always hard to work and play as a goal keeper because you will always get criticized and blamed bye people who don’t understand. They think it would have been an easy save but you blew it. That’s why i take the time to teach them about the position and the stress that’s on u
Quite a bit of months ago when I was 11, I never understood this and thought it was kinda stupid. But I look in the past and realised who stupid I was for thinking this as I just turned a complete goalkeeper after playing outfield too. The goalkeeper position is great as I love diving in the mud and hitting the ground, it’s jaw dropping that I thought everyone who did this was “crazy” and I guess you could call me that.
As a goalie when ever I played for my club my coach always told me that son u are the most important guy for us in the game u will decide if we are going to win or loose so stay focused.....
12:47 what a slick combination from the goalkeeper lol. straight right, straight left which made him fall and a swift right hook on the way down. glorious
As a goalkeeper myself, this job is harder than it looks. You need to be strong physically and mentally. Opposition strikers swear and curse at me every match and calling me names like "Dream-crusher" or "Idiot". Just recently, a striker intentionally kicked me in the stomach after I saved a 1 on 1. One little mistake, and I get criticized. Strikers make a mistake and they score later, it's completely forgotten.
The Buzz you get when you come off your line and take the ball away from a Strickers feet just as he's about to shoot is priceless, And now at 53 I coach young goal keepers and I still love being a goal keeper.
Thomas Kendall sure in the top levels of the game but in local football the linesmen are normally players for the other team and can't be trusted, plus there are loads of cabbages on the sidelines shouting abuse, so the ref is all on his own.
Idk what it is about being a keeper but just the feeling of blocking an amazing shot that should have been a goal it’s amazing. Also the adrenaline you get from being a keeper. KEEPER UNION!
I’m a goalkeeper and the reason I like it is because a goalkeeper isn’t supposed to win and if you save it’s fantastic and if you don’t you atleast know you did your best.
I used to be a really talented GK. Trained since I was in diapers. I used to love it. When I was 13, my school team and I went to a tournament in Minnesota. After 2 group games, we needed to win by 2 goals in the last game to advance to the next stage. We were winning the game 3-0, and I muffed an easy free kick, let it go through my gloves to the back of the net. It wasn't a problem because we were still winning by 2 goals, that is, until I mistimed a jump in a soft corner kick in the last minutes and I gave away another goal. We won the game 3-2 but didn't pass from the group because of the goal differential. I took a lot of shit from my teammates the entire rest of the trip. Returned home and never played football again. Seeing this video, I wish I would have been stronger 😢
As a keeper myself what motivated me the most is people criticizing me not seeing the good an the effort I put in ..I always fight it never quit an be a goalkeeper ...100 to all keepers all over the world
I played in goal as a youth and I wish I'd had someone work on the mental side with me back in the 90s. The team I played in from 11 to 14 the manager swore like a trooper and spoke to you like you were a grown man. I made a mistake and remember him and my step dad laying into me. After that i'd be a nervous wreck most games worried about making a mistake. It took years to grow out of it. I loved when you had a match winning display though and pulled off a class save especially as most of the people I played against on Sunday I'd be at school with on Monday still praising me. It was my dream to be the first black goalkeeper to represent England but as I got older I fell out of love with the game.
I'm a GK and I still remember my first training session,no gloves,no padding ,no proper football boots just runners, and I wore just a man united jersey and a fresh layer of mud I'm star player on my team and I'm best in my class👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I remember being forced to be a gk when I was 7 because I was to fat and my agility is so low. After that, I bought my first glove and play the game and I am the goalkeeper ever since. Thanks god that happen. The feeling of being a guardian of the team and fix their mistake that they may cause really inspired me.I have all injuries that had happen. I dislocate my finger once because the opponent kick my hand instead of the ball in 1v1 situation, I twist my ankle really bad because of false landing, I got nut shot couple of times,... What I wanna say is that: Appreciate your goalkeeper. They have enough guts to tank tons of injuries and pain while being a goalkeeper while you sometimes being useless in the team. Good luck to all goalkeeper in the future :3
Most nerve wreaking feeling is when it bounces of your hands and they kick it again and it bounces again that your playing volleyball because there’s too many players confusing you and then you just throw yourself on top of the ball and it’s over
That’s not the story for me. I was inspired. I started as a striker like anyone would start but as I watched more football I saw the goalkeepers play and a certain Thibaut Courtois inspired me to play the GK position. Now legends such as Buffon and Keylor Navas inspire me as well.
Goalkeepers are better represented today than in the past, but they easily have the most difficult job in the game. Normally I'm a field player, but I've played keeper in a few games before and I always express how much I dislike the position. It's just too hard and the pressure is difficult to cope with as well. This video is great in trying to see into the minds of goalkeepers. One of my best friends is our goalkeeper for highschool and I'll share this with him when I think he needs it.
Sometimes even when goalkeepers do the impossible, they still get criticised by people ,and the people probably can’t even do anything near that ,that’s why I always comfort the keeper on my team
Can relate to this 100 percent. Everything they mention was a part of my life growing up and playing as a goalkeeper. Just this weekend I had over 20 great save, gave two 80 yard passes that didn’t lead to goals due to the strikers completely missing and ended up loosing 3-2. Thought about quitting the team but this video has changed my mind.
Being a GK is so difficult, I love playing as one. You have to be focused; when you’re out on field you can mess up multiple times and have somebody to cover for you. As a GK, you don’t have that option. One mistake and that could cost you the entire game.
As ex keeper. I'm 60 now best piece of advice I EVER had from ex Bristol City keeper Mike Gibson when I was 17. Had a howler ???? LET IT GO.... dont dwell on it.. it'll kill ya.. Analyse it learn and move on....
Played as a goalkeeper all my life. It is true: I celebrate alone, I get emotional on my own and I basically play on my own. But I love every second of it. Why? I have no idea, I guess it's just passion.
I became a keeper because no-one else at my school wanted to play that position. After my first game, it was clear to me that not only did I really enjoy it, but I was also good at it. 13 years later and I still love putting my gloves on the ball
i love being a goalkeeper, like casillas said once, "when i was a kid, others dreamt of scoring amazing goals, i dreamt of saving them".

The Black Panther
(Players started calling me this when I was 11 and playing senior football in the business league. I was 6'2" and they never realised how young I was.)
Keepers have the mentally toughest position in all of sports

I remember when i was a futsal goalie on my high school and college. It's so much fun when i got to deny couple great shots from great strikers + when i got to save the penalty. It's brilliant feeling to me. But, the worst part being a goalie was no matter how many saves you got, they still gonna blame for 1 or 2 mistakes lead to goal even worst they boo-ing you from the seats.
As a forward, we've always appreciated our goalie. Even when he messes up, none of us have the instincts and reaction time that he has. Bless
Why does Begovic sound like he's American?
He was brought up in Canada
Caleb F.C. Because he spent most of his childhood in Canada.
He’s Canadian
BB TV He spent the majority of his childhood in Canada.
BUT, since he chose Bosnia & Herzegovina, I consider him a Bosnian.
AND, according to FIFA, he is Bosnian.
Caleb F.C. He sounds Canadian to me.
I was feeling down after a loss for my team 5-2 just this morning and after watching this video which i unintentionally plan to watch,(was on recommended videos) it gave me a boost in my confidence the be the best i can in goalkeeping. Thank you so much @FourFourTwo
Great documentary, clearly the toughest job on the pitch

As a keeper I love the strikers face when you save their shot
Every goal scored against me it’s my fault not anyone else’s
Wouldn't be hard to see why forster just got "chucked into goal", it's not like he's 10 foot tall or anything
He is 6 foot 7 lol
Thanks for the enlightening documentary.
i don’t find it lonely, i love my back line more than anything and i find a way to appreciate how much they protect me and how i could never do what they do
Depends the football culture
Here in mexico its definitely alot more brutal in terms of how goalkeepers are treated for sure
I love being a gk except for one thing, my teammate always hate me when we lose like 7-0, but usually i just say, and how many goals did you score?
As a goalie when ever I played for my club my coach always told me that son u are the most important guy for us in the game u will decide if we are going to win or loose so stay focused.....
The best thing I've watched this year🙈🔥
12:47 what a slick combination from the goalkeeper lol. straight right, straight left which made him fall and a swift right hook on the way down. glorious
They should do a loneliest man on the planet documentary. The 3rd choice keeper.
lmaoooo
As a goalkeeper myself, this job is harder than it looks. You need to be strong physically and mentally. Opposition strikers swear and curse at me every match and calling me names like "Dream-crusher" or "Idiot". Just recently, a striker intentionally kicked me in the stomach after I saved a 1 on 1. One little mistake, and I get criticized. Strikers make a mistake and they score later, it's completely forgotten.
Put neymar in nets
would have amazing diving
Lol
The Buzz you get when you come off your line and take the ball away from a Strickers feet just as he's about to shoot is priceless, And now at 53 I coach young goal keepers and I still love being a goal keeper.
Surely the loneliest job in football is the ref?
Not with all the players screaming in your face.
They have 3 assistants
Kieran Whiting, They Have 3 Assistants.
Thomas Kendall sure in the top levels of the game but in local football the linesmen are normally players for the other team and can't be trusted, plus there are loads of cabbages on the sidelines shouting abuse, so the ref is all on his own.
nah, surely the loneliest job is being an Arsenal fan
Idk what it is about being a keeper but just the feeling of blocking an amazing shot that should have been a goal it’s amazing. Also the adrenaline you get from being a keeper. KEEPER UNION!
I’m a goalkeeper and the reason I like it is because a goalkeeper isn’t supposed to win and if you save it’s fantastic and if you don’t you atleast know you did your best.
This is the best thing that I've seen on youtube, ever. Thanks for making it. It's a big morale booster.
Beautiful work. Kudos to FFT
Not for Peter Schmeichel though.
Ow fuck you
IDGI
Hes trash
As a keeper myself what motivated me the most is people criticizing me not seeing the good an the effort I put in ..I always fight it never quit an be a goalkeeper ...100 to all keepers all over the world
Do one for defenders, really stressful for me as a center back getting blame
I know the feeling mate. Even if no one is blaming me, I still feel somewhat responsible for any goal let through.
Sam Cook same
do ballboys, i want to see who trains these cunts like the ond hazard kicked
Hold up hold up, here we have a defender, claiming he is innocent! Who is to blame for the goal? Could it be the midfielders?
Sometimes I defend sometimes im a goalie it sucks getting the blame
Shoutout to all the goalkeeper out there 🙌 We are the person that stop a great goal 🤘
Great documentary !
Such a great video don't know how it doesn't have more views
Do a one for defenders
I hate when people post comments like "I remember the first time i blocked a ball now im the best in my school everyone else is badd"
Joe Hart a cool minded guy? *shouting: Gimme da ball! gimme da fuckin ball! to a kid*
Lmao
Most nerve wreaking feeling is when it bounces of your hands and they kick it again and it bounces again that your playing volleyball because there’s too many players confusing you and then you just throw yourself on top of the ball and it’s over
Respect to karius 😢 that night destroyed him
I love getting those fast shots knocked away from goal and seeing people start freaking out, it's a great feeling.
How did you become a keeper.
Goes to a Football pitch, is the tallest lad there and someone says you’re the tallest here get in goal.
Or the fattest
I am 1,67m tall and I'm a goalkeeper.
Or the last one to come
That's literally how i got in goal😂
Brilliant video!
Good luck to all the keepers trying out for a school team, a professional or college team. Prove your own worth you've got this!
thankyou my friend
Brilliant.
👍
Sometimes even when goalkeepers do the impossible, they still get criticised by people ,and the people probably can’t even do anything near that ,that’s why I always comfort the keeper on my team
Like its more easy to criticise a gk for not defend a ball to criticise a sk not score a goal....I think gk are very unrated in football
My father was a keeper
I am a keeper
My son will be too 🙏🏾
My dad was a winger I'm a goalkeeper
This is the greatest motivator for me to watch. Always makes me want to put on the gloves and go block some shots. Thank you for this video!
Keepers where ya at
Being a GK is so difficult, I love playing as one. You have to be focused; when you’re out on field you can mess up multiple times and have somebody to cover for you. As a GK, you don’t have that option. One mistake and that could cost you the entire game.
Loved this video!
Awesome video. Congrats on a great accomplishment!
Thanks!
Nothing is better than seeing the pain in a striker’s face when you save a great shot
As ex keeper. I'm 60 now best piece of advice I EVER had from ex Bristol City keeper Mike Gibson when I was 17.
Had a howler ????
LET IT GO.... dont dwell on it.. it'll kill ya..
Analyse it learn and move on....
True
Played as a goalkeeper all my life. It is true: I celebrate alone, I get emotional on my own and I basically play on my own. But I love every second of it. Why? I have no idea, I guess it's just passion.
I became a keeper because no-one else at my school wanted to play that position. After my first game, it was clear to me that not only did I really enjoy it, but I was also good at it. 13 years later and I still love putting my gloves on the ball
Very well put together 👍
I love this
😬
Love my GK at the back. As a defender, I get ecstatic when my gk makes those saves
I became a goalkeeper because no one else wanted to but I was the smallest in the team
Amazing video! I really enjoyed watching it.
Glad to hear it.
This is an excellent documentary.
